Please help!! Laptop is not working and needed for homework!!!

I have a Toshiba laptop. The model is Satellite A215-S5837. The problem I have is this. Starting this morning when I turned on my laptop it was black for 10 minutes and then it starts loaing files. After it is finished loaing it goes to the regular Windows Vistas is loading screen. Then it goes black again and after 10 more minutes the mouse cursor shows up an nothing else. It nevr gets to the welcome screen where I can log on. It just stays black with a mouse cursor that responds when I move it. Please help quickly because I have homework ue soon for my summer class and I need to finish it tommorrow else I fail.
P.S. Please don't tell me to restore my computer because I don't have my restore disk with me because I am currently studying abroad.

Hi,
Any help appreciated.  My printer is Photosmart C7288 All-in-One Printer.
As of 2 days ago my printer has not been working. It comes up with several error messages after I switch it on. The first one is "Ink system failure: Ink system has failed. Unable to copy, recieve faxes or print. Refer to printer documentation. Error: 0xc18a0105. Turn power off then on again." 
However when I turn power off then on again via the 'power' button, ".ink system failure Then the same original error message comes up (0xc18a0105). This is the most frequent error message and won't go away. Then I also keep getting a message saying "Photo Tray Problem: Lift output tray up, verify the photo tray is pushed in until it stops, lower output tray". Despite the fact that I have not used the photo tray in several months and it is in the correct position. 
So far I have tried switching the printer on and off several times using the power button. I also switched the printer off at the plug last night (after it had been properly shut down) and switched it back on this morning. I have looked through the printer documentation but could not find any troubleshooting advice for this kind of problem. I have updated the HP driver using software update on my mac, and the problem is still there. 
I'm getting desperate now, I rely on my printer/scanner/photocopier a lot!

    My requirement is to dynamically populate a drop down box (combo box) in a JSP Page, using a javascript function, with some values. This happens on click of some button.
    I am using the below function to populate the drop down box. This runs fine in Windows IE, but in MAC, i get a javascript error saying " 'options' is not an object". Can anybody please tell me how to go about this? Is there any other way in which i could populate a drop down box? I need this to work in both Windows and MAC. Please help!

    This is fine until after Step 6 but after that nothing happens. My iTunes no longer appears to recognize my iPod as it doesn't show up with "Cat's iPod" when it is connected. Also when my iPod is connected it always has the "do not disconnect" message on it even though it is not updating.
    Please help because I have no idea what to do. I've tried everything that I can think of but nothing seems to help.

    I also battled for hours with restoration, until I tried it on another computer: It worked! It could have been the third party access I had to the computer, or something else, but the moral of the story is, to end your frustration by switching to another PC. I also thought my computer did not recognize my Ipod mini: Make sure your Itunes is closed, then attach Ipod mini to the USB port. It sometimes takes up to 5-10 minutes for it to list your Ipod under source: I was too hasty if it did not list it immediately, and jumped to the conclusion that it did not recognize my Ipod Mini. So patience might help?

  • LifeDrive revived - Outlook 2003 not working and needs periodic battery re-insertion

    My Palm LifeDrive has been revived with all of its attendant data. I had a prior problem with a dead battery, and ordered one on-line. I received a cheap Oriental no-name battery (with screwdriver), and replaced the dead Sony battery that was in there. After charging, it seems to work.
    I now have a couple of problems that are minor in comparison. First, when the display times out and the unit turns itself off, I have to reboot it to switch it back on. The slider switch on top doesn't work in that case.  If I switch it off myself, it turns back on easily and does not require a reboot.
    The other thing is a good news/bad news problem. The good news is that the ACCESS Palm desktop works if I log in into Windows 7 as a normal (non-Admin) user for the first time ever. Also, for the first time, the Bluetooth Sync feature works without error for the first time as a non-Admin user. Logging into W7 is also flawless, with no error dialogs popping up from the HotSync drivers as they are loading. Bad news is that I can't see any information at all under Outlook 2003 for the first time. Is this necessarily an either/or proposition? I want to merge Project 2003 with the Outlook scheduler, but now I will have two separate schedules on separate software. Why can't I see my schedules and contacts under Outlook? Any ideas?
    [later added 4/29/2012] There is another problem now. The LifeDrive has switched itself off unaccountably so that neither the ON switch nor soft/hard resetting will turn it back on. Only another disassembly/reassembly of the LifeDrive (battery removal and re-insertion) would revivie it again. Any ideas as to what might be wrong or how to troubleshoot it?

    It seems that deploying a PRF file is best based on the research as well as some of the links which Amy shared. Users are using Outlook 2010 using the /importprf switch however with outlook 2010 the " Encrypt data between Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft
    Exchange" is enabled by default this causes some of the users to be continuously prompted for authentication, I was able to manually fix the issue by disabling  "Encrypt data between Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Exchange"

    We can't do this manually but want to modify the PRF file to disable this. So far the only documentation referring to this is for Outlook 2003 to
    enable this,  it was disabled by default with this version of outlook.

  • Please Help! RDS not working over the internet

    Hello Everyone,
    I recently set up a new server that is running Server 2008 R2 and need to get RDS setup so that I can connect to the server using a remote desktop connection over the internet.
    I can access the web access site over the internet and login as expected but it does not allow me to connect via remote desktop to the server using its FQDN. It just gives me the typical can't connect message. I have verified that connecting via remote desktop
    using the RDS web access site works within my local network.
    So far I have done the following:
    - Added the server to the domain and assigned a static IP address that is public on the internet (associated dns record also added by my ISP)
    - Added all of the RDS roles except for virtualization host and added appropriate settings throughout the wizard
    - Configured and added a self-signed ssl cert
    - Added the server as a web access server
    - Disabled Firewall and Security software on the server for testing purposes
    That said, can anybody shed some light on what I may have missed? When entering the computer name over the internet, do I have to add a port or anything like that? It's odd that I can connected to the web access page which is hosted on the server I am trying
    to connect to via remote desktop but I cannot actually use remote desktop.
    This is my first time attempting to use RDS so maybe I just missed an important step somewhere.
    Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

    When I click connect a warning comes up saying unknown publisher and when I click connect I get the error again.
    That said, I went into RD Session Host Server Settings and under the RD Session Host Server tab I checked a box that says "Show a remote desktop connection to this RD Session Host server in RD Web Access" and now under the
    remoteapp programs link on the RDWeb there is an icon for Remote Desktop. When I click the icon it automatically tried to connect me to the server and lists the publisher and remote computer as the same rather than giving me a warning.
    Additionally, in the RD Session Host Server Settings it does say the server name as the FQDN RDP port 3389 under "connection settings" in the same tab.
    edit: I am going to put together some pictures so you can see exactly what I'm seeing on the RDWeb and will post again with a link once I have them up.

  • Please help - keyboard backlight not working properly

    The keyboard backlighting on my 15in early 2008 macbook pro stopped working properly about two weeks ago. I opened it at night to find that only the middle keys were lighting up. No spills, no drops or anything out of the ordinary. I have already reset the SMC (via sleep/restart/shutdown and shift/control/option/power), but no luck. Currently the only keys being lit are: 6 7 8 T Y U G H J B N. If anyone knows of a fix for this or anything else I should try, please help. Thanks.

    hi there had a search but couldnt find anything directly.
    my g3 ibook, 900mhz power PC G3 laptop has a faulty cd rom and no longer works, and i need to format the ibook to delete any personal and data so i need to format it ready to sell.
    i have and osx 10.4 cd,
    how do i go about formatting my laptop without the cd rom drive. usb hard drive? if so how etc or any other ways, really want to delete an clear it before selling it on.

    OS X 10.4 initially came as a DVD, just to make sure you know that.

    Next time, paste in the exact, complete error message and indicate clearly exactly which line is causing it.
    Your problem is that you declare cardNoString inside the try block, but you try to return it outside. Local variables only exist in the narrowest block in which they're declared. Once you exit try, that variable does not exist.
    You also have a logical problem. If an error occurs, you're just printing out :"Error", but you're not actually handling it. You're going on as if everything is fine. Catching an exception doesn't fix the error. If you can't fix it, don't catch it.
    What do you think your method will return if an exception occurs before you set cardNoString? What do you think it will do to the caller to have some arbitrary, meaningless value returned when he thinks everything went fine and he got a valid result?

  • HELP! Services not working and cannot phone 150!!

    Hello,  Just wondering if anyone can help, I paid my phone bill this morning of £117 and the services got cut off 6 hours later. I cannot even call 150! I am really stressing out as I can't call anywhere in case of an emergency.  It comes up "EE" beside the signal bar rather than the normal "3G" which is when I am able to make calls/texts. It is impossible to get in touch as I can't phone 150 and my landline does not work. Thank you,Amanda

    It takes about 5 days for a payment to reach your a/c. Perhaps you got cut off cuz you had payments outstanding?

    It may be a range of different things, I am afraid.
    You may try the list, unless someone comes up with something brighter.
    The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file, and when it is not caused by issues with opening a file from external media. You may have tried/done some of them already; 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
    If possible/applicable, you should save current artwork first, of course.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to at least 5 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible), for CS3 - CC you may find the folder here:

    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);

    6) Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • N8 Phone Bricked, please help - resets do not work

    n8 stoped responding while leaving a voice mail for someone, i noticed when i went to hang up. holding the power button to turn off phone did nothing, so i held the power for 8 second 3 vibration, which did nothing( i can keep doing that, it does nothing every time). tried 3 finger reset, which just did 3 vibrations after 8 seconds. when i plug the phone into the power, the led on the left side blinks.
    Please help, i have had nothing but promlems with this phone since i bought it.

  • Skype app not working and needs "repair"

    Hello, just wondering if anyone else has had this issue. But yesterday I tried to use my Skype app on my Sony Vaio (I'm running Windows 8.1) and it just hung there for a few minutes, it was just the skype screen with the logo on it. I turned away then noticed that the app had closed, so I clicked it again and the same issue happened. Figuring 3rd times the charm I clicked it, only this time I got a notification from my computer saying that the app couldn't open and to go to the Windows Store. Once i get there it says that the app needs to be repaired, so I press the repair button, and I get the little green dots at the top that show that its working. After a few minutes, I get a notification saying that the Skype app has been installed, so when I go to my start screen and press on it, it says the same thing, that the app can't open and to go to the Windows Store. So I left it alone, this morning when I turn on my laptop I have a blue square with no Skype logo instead of the usual Skype app, I click on it and the process starts over. For some reason it just isnt repairing...is anyone else having this issue or can help me solve it? :/

    skype is always showing me online when i was not really please repair it.

    If that doesn't fix it try starting in Safe Mode and see if the problem still occurs?
    Restart holding the "shift" key.
    (Expect it to take longer to start this way because it runs a directory check first.)
    If this works look in System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login items and delete any third party login items (-), you can always add them back with the (+). Don’t just “hide” them by checkmark.
