Please help me explain to my IT Department

I will be taking training very soon on RoboHelp 8 for Word and I need to talk to my IT department about what they need to do with the files I generate (in regards to placing them in our web application). Anyone have any suggestions on anything?

In addition to what others have said, I'd be double-checking the training. Where are you attending training where RoboHelp for Word is offered? All the training I'm aware of is for RoboHelp HTML.
I think what Colum stated applies to RoboHelp HTML with the linking. I'm not certain RoboHelp for Word works in this manner, as Word is the editing environment.

Printer needs output as an .ai (.pdf won't work): please help me explain

Hello, any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have this client who is a great client but for various reasons their print vendors for packaging are incredibly special. I've begged them to change vendors, but it's not going to happen. Their paper printing vendors are fine (great actually), and the packaging vendors I use with other clients are fine, I think it's just because they are using the absolute cheapest vendors.
The situation is that I use InDesign to create packaging (boxes, plastic tubes, labels, the whole bit). It's much more efficient for me because for their specific stuff, I use master pages, character/paragraph styles, update linked graphics, etc. This sort of thing is possible in Illustrator via other tools, but I strongly feel InDesign is a much better solution. When I'm done, I export a CMYK PDF (sometimes spot, but either either way, it's a clean, tidy PDF). I'm pretty comfortable with my settings for this as I don't have trouble with any other vendor.
The problem is that my client is getting emails like this: Is it possible for you to send me the true vector files in either .ai or .eps format?
I could take the PDF into Illustrator and outline the fonts, and give them one huge, extremely messy package of AI files (and I'm sure they're on Illustrator 8 or something), but the client will need changes after the proof, and there are a lot of files here, so I have to do this, and redo it, etc. Not to mention this client is WAY over budget.
So, what I'm begging for help with: I've been trying to google for something that explains why a PDF is a better file than an AI file for this purpose and why they should be able to use PDF, but I'm coming up with very little. So far I have general Adobe and Wikipedia articles (which covers raster vs vector), but I haven't found any info from a third party that explains why printers should be using (or at least able to use) a PDF to generate plates (poly or otherwise).
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much.

I actually hadn't thought of that (actually, hardly ever think about .eps anymore). It's a good point though.
In CS4 (don't remember previous versions), I can export these just as easily as a PDF, but then I still have to outline the fonts, zip up several files instead of just sending a PDF, etc. It's 10 minutes, if that; but this is happening consistently with their packaging vendors. I'd rather educate their vendors than do work-arounds for them. I'm not trying to be a jerk about it, but if they don't know a PDF can be just as "true" a vector as an AI/EPS, the problem isn't just outdated equipment, it's a lack of seriously basic pre-press knowledge.
I was sure adobe (or someone) had a nice article on why a PDF was a better solution, but I'm having a hard time finding it. More than a work-around, I'm really looking for general information for them as to what a PDF is (versus AI/EPS). Then I can at least tell my client that their printer requires me to do extra work, and I'll just bill out for my time. It's a nominal fee, because these work-arounds aren't that elaborate, but sooner or later my client will do the math and realize that it's in their best interest to find a better printer. I know a lot of great printers right now that are hurting (although sadly, none of them do packaging), I'd much rather see work go to printers who make an effort to stay educated about their industry.

We do need the actual DMP file as they contain the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

And our program is running on Windows XP Professional.
Our program has problem only with Init Function and we try to increase VM memory but our program is still failure.
If we don't use java environment, but using Visual C++ 6.0, our program has no problem.

Please HELP! Fixing My MacBook Pro after I accidentally dropped it

Hi there, I dropped my MacBook pro earlier and I went online and read some discussions on how to fix it. So I checked my data utility, it says 'Verified' on SMART status, does this mean that my hard drive is okay and all my files are still there?
Then I clicked on 'repair disk' under the First Aid bar, it says "Some information was unavailable during an internal look up", can someone please help me explaining what this means?
Then I followed the Apple instructions page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1440 to use Time Machine to back up my files as my has possible, but at the time I proceed to 'select a backup source', it shows nothing but just "Searching for time machine backups......" below on the screen. What does this mean?
I really need my laptop to come alive, and I'm not that tech-savvy, I'd really appreciate your help! Thanks!!!!

Can you open Disk Utility? (Boot off of an install CD -- 10.6 or below, or the rescue partition -- 10.7 and above, and find Disk Utility on your menus) If Disk Utility comes up and your disk is on the left side and it is greyed out, then things are not good for the disk, but just being able to run Disk Utility is a Good Thing because it means that your computer is probably ok.
If the disk appears in disk utility, and it is black, click on it and run "repair disk" (There are 2 buttons -- the verify disk won't fix any problems that it finds, so go straight to the repair)
If it runs with no errors, or finds errors and successfully repairs them, your data is safe. In the case of a successful repair, always run verify again. Sometimes it has to repair 2, 3, 4 or more times before it goes through and finds nothing wrong.
If it stops during the repair and comes up with a message in red saying that the repair failed, then your disk is probably toast BUT -- the fact that your computer is running the Disk Utility indicates that your machine is still fine and can be brought to life with a new disk. Sometimes you can get the data off of the old disk.
How techie are you, and is your machine one that you can open up and replace the disk yourself? If it is, then you need to look for instructions on how to replace the disk on your particular model of computer. Or you can take it to a professional to do the swap.
I know the feeling of watching the macbook pro hit the concrete floor -- AACCCKKK!!! But in my case a new disk and a restore from Time Machine and I was back in business.

You should really read the manual.

They would only be where you put them. What program did you use to import them? Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all. You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer.

I CANNOT restore my iPhone, so now I'm stuck with a useless iPhone because I can't complete Restore - because Error 23 keeps coming up! Ugh...it bugs the heck out of me, that Apple assigns an error number without explaining (a) what that IS, (b) taking or redirecting to a SPECIFIC troubleshoot page for THAT error. Thx BUT =as-said, I've tried ALL the suggestions - including reading through the link you just suggested/posted (but just for good measure, i've just re-read thru it again!). I noticed from this list the first time i read thru it, that Error 23 didn't appear anywhere on this list of various (numerous!) error numbers. So/ergo, i still don't know (a) what exactly this error IS, (b) how to fix/get past/resolve it.
I don't have an Apple store anywhere near me. Even if I did, I wonder whether they would (a) be willing to (b) able to fix it @ the so-called Genius bar? Any thoughts on this? Open GarageBand's preferences, and under Audio/MIDI set the Input popUp menu to the iMic. You can also set the Output popUp to the iMic if you have headphones plugged into it, otherwise set it to Built-In.

I forgot my passcode. Please help explain the steps to restore

Forgot the password after changing it :/ So what should i do? It locked me out for a good 5 days. now i can stop it getting locked by attempting to sync into itunes and that way i tried 40 different combinations with similar patterns to what i THOUGHT i'd set it to. i don't want to loose my contacts or texts. most of my music is in my library so thats not an issue. i've seen a few videos on youtube where you hold down the power button and the home button. would this work? i backed it up last week (before i set the new password). when i just went to restore it, it offered me a choice to back it up again as well. if i were to back it up now would that make it imposible for me to restore since the new back up has the lost password on it? or should i just restore it to the one from last week??? Please help?? Phoning doesnt seem to work. i want to restore it to the backup i made last week but the way its asking me if i want to back up before i restore is what's confusing me.... if i click "dont back up" it says it will restore to factory defaults and everything will be lost but if i back up does'nt that mean it'll just restore to the way it is now...as in it'll restore itself to the part where i dont know the password... if any of that made any sense :S

If you are unable to restore your iPhone with iTunes without having to enter the passcode, you will not be able to update your iPhone's backup. You will need to place the iPhone into recovery mode in order to restore the iPhone with iTunes and you can restore from the most recent backup available.
