So, here it goes.
i am a victim of the horrible Mac OS X 10.4.9 update...
i went to the retailer and they said that in order for it to work, you have to restart the whole system, or i could pay them 6000 rb (russian currency) for them to fix...
now i dont have that much money, so i guess ill have to kill of My MacBook Pro .
The "expert" at the re:store told me that i could back up my stuff somehow, but didnt really explain that good and i didnt understand..
please people, how do i back up all my precoius data on my MacBook Pro, and how do i restart the whole system?
+ after i restart the system, how do i put my data into it?
p.s, my MacBookPro wont continue to load after the loading screen, so how do i back up my data from Mac OS X disc?
please people help me, im very afraid

Daniel, welcome to the forums. Rule 1, don't panic. Let's take you through this step by step and see what can be done.
Have you tried restarting with the SHIFT key held down. This will give a Safe Boot and may clear the problem. If not, try the next idea:
You should have the installation disks, which are coloured grey. Try booting up with the disk by holding the C key down at startup (as you turn on the computer, slide the disk in and you should be quick enough).
Once started from the disk, instead of reinstalling, try to access the Disk Utility and repair the disk.
If that is not working, the system may need reinstalling, but do not use erase and install as you will lose all data. Instead, one of the options is called Archive and Install. This retains your original system and the data and there will be a folder marked (if I remember correctly) Old or something like that.
Once you are up and running, you can delete that once you are sure there is nothing in there you do not need.
You could also then update your system by downloading the combo update. Some people regard this as more stable.
If you need more help, please ask as others will also step in to assist.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

P.S: For the iphone 4S. is there any difference for the one from online shop or the actual store?

iPhones purchased from the online Apple Store in Australia will be unlocked. To the best of my knowledge, unlocked iPhone are not available from the physical Apple Stores at this time, though you can call the Apple Store in Melbourne and inquire.
Note that the warranty on iPhones is not international, so if you purchase an iPhone in Australia and it needs service, you would have to ship the iPhone to someone in Australia to take or send to Apple for service and then ship it back to you.

I got this under XP before. I was totally baffled until I realized there was a network drive mapped to the same place XP was trying to mount my iPod. The common symptom is that you'll get this sort of "corrupt" error on one machine but it works ok on a friend's machine. If that's true for you, you can change the network drive mapping to another drive letter (easiest) or mount your iPod and change its drive letter in the disk management control panel (under admin tools).
Hope that helps... this one just about had me pulling my hair out until I recognized the problem.

This is really starting to tick me off, so I hope you can help me. This isn't exactly Archlinux related, but the problem persists on the whole network regardless of OS being used.
Ok, so I got my new D-Link 5-port switch home a few days ago. I wanted to hook up my laptop so it could access the internet.
I'll try to illustrate how the layout of the network is made up in my home:
Internet -------> Router -------> Switch -----------> My dad's computer
|
-----------> My switch -------------> My main desktop
|
-------------> My laptop
As you see, we split the internet between our 3 computers, where 2 of them are mine, and 1 is my dad's. The problem is, that we can't run more than 2 computers online. DHCP just won't function.
If I have both of my computers online, my dad can't connect to the internet. If my dad has his computer online, I can't connect with 1 of my computers. So we are constantly only able to be 2 on the internet. I see no logical explaination for why this is happening, because the internet is split on the first switch, to my dad and me, then from my own switch, I split my connection between my 2 computers.
Please help me, this is really giving me an edge. I REALLY hope you can help

I think I can explain the problem. Every computer that connects to a network needs an IP address. Normally you connect a router to the internet and the router gets a public IP address from the ISP's server. This is the address that people see when you connect to their sites. When you connect your computer to the router, the router gives you a different IP address. that only people on your LAN can see. The router can give several addresses because they are only used on the LAN, so you can connect multiple computers to it and each one can get a unique IP address. When you connect to the internet, your computers communicates with the router using private IP addresses on the LAN, then your router communicates with computers on the internet using public IP addresses.
In your case, your router is not configured to give out IP addresses. Instead, when you connect you are getting a public IP address directly from the ISP's server. You need to configure your router to act as a gateway between your LAN and the internet. I went downstairs to find out where the manuals for the router were... Turns out we don't have a router ...
All we have is 3 boxes; A internet phone adapter, a ethernet xDSL modem and a switch. Maybe this is why it's all ****ed up? Sorry for the misleading, but my dad always told me that we had a router. =\

Playback loop dropping out before end of song!! Please help!!

Just started using mainstage 2 (latest version). I'm trying to set up some playback to perform live with, but for some strange reason, some of the playback stems always drop out before the end of the song. (usually 2 t 4 bars before ending.) It happens every time.. and on every songs...
Could someone please help.. I really can't figure this one out!

I'm not looping the playbacks and I'm syncing on the average about 4 playback plugins song..
I'm using an Axiom pro 61 as controller
My system is a 13in MacBook Pro 2010 model with OS 10.6.6

In fact, you can add markers directly in Mainstage - open up the playback plug-in, put your cursor exactly on the point of the waveform where you want your marker and control-click to open the pop-up menu from which you can add, rename and remove markers. Click/drag on the waveform to move to the required location.
To sync, just set the tempo of each song at the set or patch level (others have noted problems getting everything to sync properly, so to avoid this problem I usually just create an audio file of my click track and load it up into a separate playback channel - this also makes it easier to route it separately to your FOH output).
As for tempo change, well, I'm afraid MS2 doesn't support tempo change as such, although if you vary the tempo of you backings in PT and bounce down a stem, then that is just an audio file, and when MS2 plays it back it will play as recorded (ie with tempo changes). This is another good reason for using an audio file of a click track.

Formula Variables for Report Painter- Syntac error in formula, Please Help!

I'm creating the report where I need to calculate annualized P&L. The formula is as follows : (P&L account/Period(variable ))12*
I need to capture the From_period, which is entered by the user on the selection screen when running the report and use it as a variable in the formula above. Example: If User insert From Period 3, then the formula should be *P&L accoun / 3 * 12*
I have tried so many different way but nothing seems to work. one of the ways i tried was:
In the general selection Im using set variable 6P-S-PERIOVB.CCSS for period which consists of variable V_PERIO and B_PERIO.
So Im trying to create a folowing formula:

Network Connection Was Refused - PLEASE help me this time...

To be perfectly honest, I'm quite irritated. I want answers. And if there is no answer, I want someone to tell me such. I've posted three times before, twice on someone else's topic, and once on my own. This is my last ditch effort. PLEASE help me. I really enjoy the use of your product, and I don't want to give up on it.
Many people are having issues with their network connection. I know I'm not the only one. Some diagnostics say the connection to iTunes works, but for some reason still won't open the music store. In my case, it says it isn't.
I went to my parents' house this holiday and stole their broadband high speed internet connection, hoping that the new connection might make iTunes work. Nope. So now I'm fresh out of ideas.

I downloaded the newest version of iTunes, without realizing that there were so many problems with it. The installation went off without a hitch, and it was able to open up my library. However, whenever I try to access the music store, the message "iTunes could not connect to the Music Store. The network connection was refused. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again" appeared. I tried redownloading it, but that didn't solve the problem. I got frustrated, and finally was able to download 7.01. That didn't work either. So I downloaded the older version that I used to have. The same error message appeared. NOW I'm mad, because I can't even get the older version back. I want my older version back... I never had a problem with your products before, but right now I'm slowly losing faith. PLEASE help me.
