Hi, i was at a wedding reception and my ipod touch iOS 5 4th gen got stolen and i was wondering what i can do we dont have much money as i saved up for 1 year to get the touch and please no smart allic comments as i said i am only 13 and i was very emotional when i lost it i dont want yo save up for 1 whole year again i have asked my parents already they said no i need to save up and i didnt have the find my iphone thing.

Change your iTunes (Apple ID) password along with any other password that was stored in the iPod. The "Find my..." function is pretty much useless if the device is in the hands of a thief. All that is necessary is for the thief to connect to any computer with iTunes and "Restore as new."
The only real protection you have is with the personal information on the device rather than the physical device itself. Something as small as an iPod should have a strong 8-digit (or longer) password AND be configured for automatic wipe in the event of ten consecutive incorrect password entries.

DESPERATE PLEASE HELP So my mother got herself an iPod touch 5g for Christmas and barely asked me to set it up last night, (BRAND NEW NOT OPENED YET).. - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Please Help! How to fix my ipod touch that got covered in garlic butter?

So I had it on the counter in the kitchen and of course it got covered in garlic butter and now the screen looks glittery and is very dim. I have had it in some rice for some time now and it seems to be helping with the garlic butter but not with the dimness as much. I would appreciate any help you give me because I do not feel like buying a new ipod touch. Thanks!

i tried to restore my ipod touch cause itunes would not recognize it no matter what i did and when i plugged it in to my laptop it opens with autoplay,so i tried everything i disabled it in autoplay,when i tried to restore my itouch halfway trough a window pops up and says new hardware found that's saying it a digital camera and i have to look for the driver software,and since my ipod is not a digital still camera it ends up saying restoring youre ipod was unsuccessful error 1611 What should i do....o and i tried unistaling itunes and quick time already and reinstaling them but nothing so my ipod is basicly stuck at screen the one with the itunes logo and usb cable.btw my ipod is brand new i got it yesterday

I am thinking about buying an 8gb iPod Touch, should i save some dough and buy the 1st gen iPod Touch or pay a bit more and buy the 2nd gen?
Also, what makes the 2nd gen iPod Touch better then the 1st gen, what has been improved, changed, etc...?

I had the 1st gen touch since it first came out and just got the 2nd gen touch last month. I'll list a few things I like about the 2nd gen touch.
1. internal speaker. makes a huge difference in my opinion.
2. new design. alot nicer to hold in your hand than the 1st gen.
3. seems faster overall than the 1st gen touch.
4.display no longer has blue tint. now has more of a yellow tint. makes pics and movies look a little better.
If you can afford the 2nd gen touch I would highly recommend it.

Installed latest update, and now ipod touch won't work

Hello, I clicked on the download and install option for the latest update to my ipod touch. I think it was 2.2.1, but I'm not 100% sure. Anyway, now I have to hold the power button down several seconds, and I see the apple logo, and then the itunes icon with the USB plug which indicates I need to connect to itunes. When I plug it in to the pc, I get prompted that I have installed new hardware and need to install the device drivers. It is not recognized by itunes or my pc. Please help!!

Hello, all, my ipod touch is now working. Here's what happened...I called the tech support line and started going through the automated stuff. It started me with the reset which I had done numerous time. It then mentioned trying a different USB port. I figured it was a waste of time, but then I decided what the heck, so I tried the other usb port on the front of my pc. When I did this, it recognized the ipod in ituned and gave me a mssg that it needed to be restored. I clicked on the restore link, and minutes later it gave me an error message on the restore, and the ipod showed the apple on the sreen instead of the itunes logo with the usb cord. I then tried it back in the original usb port, and received the same windows prompt to try to install drivers that I had been getting all along. I put it back in the second USB port, and got the restore message again with it being recognized in itunes. This time it successfully completed the restore. I know it sounds simple, but if you have not tried a different USB port, be sure you do. Maybe the download jacked up my USB port? Anyway, I'm working again with the 2.2.1 download. My ipod touch was stolen. I installed mobile me but never had to use it. When I try to locate it it just comes back saying "location services are disabled". Does that mean that whoever has it has disabled the service or that they havent connected to wifi?

My car was broken into and my ipod touch was stolen. I installed the mobile me but have never had to use it. They renamed the ipod because when I sign in it says it is someone elses ipod...grrrrr!!!! They've probably restored it by now and when that happens, any email accounts/mobileme accounts that were on it are not there anymore.

there is a good chance that this can be related to bad contact in USB lead.. e.g not enough power from IPOD to PC so that pc cannot recognise it. Where I work I get alot of USB devices on pc's that are not recognised and most of the time it is the connection to the device that is not good enough because the flat end of the USB adapter has been gradually bent over time just slightly and now contact is not good. It can also be todo with drivers or If you are using it through a USB hub.
so if it is not working through USB hub try direct. also try in back of PC as these Ports or direct access to main board to pc and would be less trouble some if there was a voltage loss from mainboard in pc to front of unit.

If the thief enabled activation lock on the device, then there is nothing that can be done. Only the password for the Apple ID that it is locked with can disable activation lock.

If you don't know your ID, you can try to find it as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5625. Then you can reset the password as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2617. Of course, you can only do this if it's your ID.

Holding down the shift key while iTunes is opening. That will bring up the 'choose iTunes library' dialog. Select 'Choose LIbrary' from the choices and navigate to your music folder and iTunes music folder.
