OK i have a cupple of ipods.but the thing is i have a old seris .the scroll wheel.u know the first generation 5 gb ipod.its the one with the wheel that moves....anyways..i have a windows xp and i have a fire wire to a usb.......and i need help with the ipod.because it usued to charge up and i could listen to music but now when i try to charge it.a stupid apple shows up..and then it says its safe to siconect ok......and when i take out the plug for the charging it never charges.......so i cant charge it.so i can put it on the computer to transfer the music in to it..........so do u understand.the ipod dose not charge.but insted the back part gets hot...and i need help...please if u help me it would be very appriateve.please if this has happned to u.and u fixed the problem i would love that.but thsi site has nothing to help on problms concerning the old ipods...so p[ease help me...

SSD and HDD Installed but it runs super slow? Please Help!

Hi, I have a late 2011 Macbook Pro 2.2 GHZ Intel Core i7
8gb of ram. My hard drive died in my mac and I decided to replace it with an SSD and installed an HDD in the optical bay following Ifixit instructions. I booted into internet recovery and installed Mountain Lion (as it would not let me do a straight Yosemite install from a flash drive I had made on my gf's macbook, because it couldn't authenticate). After booting up and declining the usual iCloud prompts, I rebooted and installed Yosemite from the USB. It took a while, but eventually i booted up.
I moved my home folder to the HDD a 7200rpm Western Digital Black, which is in the optical bay, (the SSD is a Samsung 340 Pro and is installed in the Drive bay). Everything appears to be functioning, but it's slower that it had ever been using Yosemite on the HDD that had died. It take 35-40 seconds just to open System Preferences. I have used First aid on both drives via the Recovery and repaired permissions on both. I have reset the ram using option-command-r-p. I have booted into Safe Mode and Restarted the computer multiple times. Just opening a second safari window causes the spinning wheel to go for ten seconds or so. If anyone knows anything I can do, please help! I'm at a loss as to what I can do to fix this.
I'm really not sure what is going on. It seems to take a very long time to load a website, but after using safari for a bit, the app doesn't seem to have a problem responding to commands, just takes way too long to load anything. System preferences is all of a sudden crazy snappy, but is giving me the spinning rainbow wheel when I try and click on a pane saying "Could not load Users & Groups preference pane." After I click "okay" and try again it loads right up. Grrr.

I am guessing you have just bought a new macbook pro, I did the same thing when I first unpacked mine.
You will get asked if you are using it on your lap, because they think that you are blocking the vents.
the macbook pro will get really hot around the E R T and F keys and I O P and L keys and the metal strip between the keyboard and the screen.
I have found the graphics accelerator heats the machine up more than the actualy processor.
you should report it to apple care before your 90 days is up, they may or may not send you to a genius booking. Just incase you have issues with your machine later due to the heat buildup early on, that way they have a log of the problem.
My macbook pro runs alot cooler than it did when i first got it, but still gets hot on heavy usage
You shouldnt really worry unless it shuts itself down as then you have some serious problems, when it gets hot u should be able to hear the fans running and it will prolly keep the temp aroun 101-104 c under heavy load. If you can't hear the fans, shut it down and take it back to the store.

QUICKTIMES FROM SUPER 8 MOVIE ARE BLURRY N JUDDERY - PLEASE HELP!

I'm making a Quicktime from a film shot on Super 8 and edited in Final Cut Express, using codec H.264.
The Final Cut Movie looks fine but when I make a Quicktime from FCE there's a nasty juddery blur on it, almost like frame blending.
Is this a frame rate problem and if so what's the best setting to avoid this?
Also having a similar problem burning a DVD of the same file in iDVD 7 - once again Final Cut movie looks fine but when I burn to DVD it's super-juddery.
Any suggestions v gratefully received!

MacBook Pro 13" Suddenly Started Running Super Slow, please help!

Yesterday I was on the computer on Facebook, then I spilled a juice over the keyboard. I turned it off and let it sit there, then I turned it on and it took about 3 minutes to show the Log in screen, then I logged in and it was taking long to load the stuff in my desktop and it was being really slow for everything.
Please Help!
I got it on December, and I don't have much time with it!! I really need to fix it.

I love my twist i just wish my wifi would work at home!
It connects and works fine at public places

I would try plugging the laptop directly into your cable modem, thus by-passing the router, and check your connection speed. Next, connect the router to the cable modem and plug the laptop directly into the router by cable. Compare your connection speeds. If both work fine by cable, then I think your wifi on the home router isn't broadcasting/working. You say the wifi connects at work/public, which leads me to believe it is not your laptop wifi card. What is your wifi signal strength from your home network? work? public?

PLEASE HELP!! (May need super advanced mac experts)

One line sums it up: my MacBook won't start up.
It starts, because there's the "start up tone", or chime, whatever it's called. But after that, there's just this white screen (in the middle of which an Apple logo will appear under normal circumstances) and some noisy beeping. There's a pattern to the beeping: first one is 2 beeps, and then 3 beeps in every 2 or 3 seconds. Plus, when it beeps, the sleep light follows the pattern.
You may think I can boot from the Mac OS Installation Disc, or do a hardware test, or anything like that. I'm sorry, but I can't. I tried, but I can't.
But somehow, just this one time, I got into Target Disk Mode, using my old Powerbook as the host. Backed up everything to an external HD, and then I thought I could erase the HD on my MacBook, and everything would be fine. But the problem is still the same.
Now I can't boot from anything, can't perform hardware test (which I believe is pretty pointless anyway), can't boot in Safe Mode, etc etc. I can't even eject the Mac OS Installation disc because none of keys (including the eject key) have any effect during startup now.
Please help!!!
PS My MacBook is running on 10.5.3, but I think that's irrelevant now, because the HD is blank the moment.

If you cannot startup from the installation disc without the same problem occurring, then it would appear you have a serious hardware problem. The beeping suggests a possible problem with RAM, but generally the normal startup chime is replaced by the beeping. However, you may still have a RAM related problem.
In any event you will need to take the computer in for service. We cannot fix hardware.

My iTunes Store won't load past the twentieth song!! Please help been going on for months now. Also is super slow in loading.

Every time I open my iTunes Store on my iphone, the store will hardly load and when it does it only lists the songs 1-20 in every genera. it will load the a limbs and front page of that category. Please help haven't been able to do anything for months!!!

I am trying to send a peice of mail to one of my friends but when i click send it says:The SMTP server “smtp.mac.com” rejected the password for user “PierceP”
Please re-enter your password, or cancel. But i type in my password and nothing changes. I even went into my preferences and changed the password but it still will not allow me to send mail. PLease help

A great experience for you might be to visit one and let them setup your mail for you (for free) and debug, if there is a problem of any sort. You can make an advanced reservation at Apple Stores at http://www.apple.com/buy/. Select the nearest store and make reservation. If you haven't been in an Apple Store, you're in for a treat.

SUPER SLOW TIME MACHINE PLEASE HELP!!!!

i have 2 external hard drives
1TB LACIE & 1TB FANTOM DRIVE
i have tested both and both do the same when TM kicks in EVERY HOUR it takes 48 mins to back up 100G an d completly slows and shuts down programs like itunes safari etc. to the point i cant do any work. i have tried both drives alone and they both do the same thing PLEASE HELP!!! i cant take it any more.

Hmm. Are you changing 100 GB of data every hour?
Do you use any virtualization software (VM Fusion, Parallels, Virtual box)?
Do you use Entourage?

I was able copy the hardrive of my old macbook from "My Passport" onto the desktop on an older iMac. but i dont know how to make my hardrive and user name be the main one since someone had used it in the past and had their info on the comp. please help!

I recently broke my 2008 macbook. i was able to use an external hardrive to back up my data onto My Passport. I was going to buy a new computer but a friend told me sher had an older version of the iMac. (not sure how old but it doesnt have a camera if that helps) i was able to hook it up and turn it on but i ran into a few problems. 1) the "authentic" user or whatever it says is someone who previously used the computer. i added me as a user but im not sure how to make me the main user. 2) after hooking up My Passport, i was able to drag my files and copy them to the desktop.(i think i did it correctly) now, i dont know how to make my hard drive and applications and iformation the "main " info. The current apps on the iMac are super old versions of iTunes and iPhoto and such. 3) while trying to open the apps from my macbook on the iMac, it said it didnt have the right software to open these apps.
I am so computer illiterate so someone please help!!! Also, i do not have internet in my new apartment yet so if there is a way to make this happen without using the internet that would be preferred. sorry for the horrible spelling and poorly written paragraph.

You are not going to be able to run your old system from the backup on this old computer as the hardware is incompatible.
You need to get a new computer or a refurbished one.

IPhone 4 GOES DARK RANDOMLY FOR NO PARTICULAR REASON PLEASE HELP

I'm gonna try this. Because I'm super frustrated. Something scary is happening to my device, I got an unlocked iPhone 4 from the Beverly Center in Los Angeles 3 weeks ago. I'm now on a long business trip in Moscow Russia and all of a sudden my screen statics, a sound of plug being pulled resonates from my iPhone there is some colored lines that slowly engulf the screen and then it goes dim, dark background on the screen but there is a slight light making it all look like the phone didn't shut off, it just bugged out and is now (I guess) just dark. This all happens in a matter of a second.
Then I hold the master restart and get it back working, sometimes after a few tries, because sometimes five master resets still don't bring it back to life, the white Apple over the dark background appears but then the phone is off again without ever coming back on.
Sometimes it happens when I browse FB or I'm on Linkedin, but first it started happening after taking a picture with the Camera (After like using the Camera for almost 3 weeks prior). Every time I took a picture this happened. Then it moved to other programs, like I would turn on the music and same thing would happen, just goes dark-dim. Now its mainly happening while using applications, mainly FB, the ABBYY Card Reader (Camera) and even Virtuoso Piano. Also sometimes when I charge the phone through a plug it always does that the second I plug the cable into the phone. Same thing if I use the USB and connect it to my MacBook Pro (2008) it gives me a box saying "Couldnt connect to the IPhone 4. An involid response was recieved from the device" or something like that. After 5-10 tries it plug in and the iTunes syncs it and it works fine. I mean *** is going on, I couldnt buy and factory unlocked iPhone from the US for 6 months, and when I finally was back in the US and had the chance to do it, this CRAP happens I FEEL FRUSTRATED AND DEPRESSED ISNT THE IPHONE 4 SUPPOSE TO BE the toughest and most reliable phone ever to hit the planet? Why is this crap happening to me while I'm away?
PLUS THEIR SALES REP AT BEVERLY CENTER SHAWN MCDANIEL LIED TO ME by TELLING ME THAT THE APPLECARE+ (Which I purchased for an extra 100) will take care of even 2 trade in if (PRECICELY CRAP LIKE THIS) something happens to it. THATS PRETTY MUCH WHAT HE SAID, and then when I told him that I'll be in Moscow, OH SURE THEY HAVE A REPRESENTATIVE AND APPLECARE+ IS WORLDWIDE.
So then I call Apple Care, both the specialist and the supervisor sound like kids who were given a superjob. They don't sound like intelligent techy people and soon I understand why. Long story short, I got no clarify wether there is an official Russian Apple representative or not, I wasn't offered mail-in repair, I was only told that looks like the nearest Apple store to me is in Poland or London so I should have someone fly there (that means I won't be with my contact book for at least a week or two) or go there myself (thx I just got an $800 phone and I should get another 300-500 EURO ticket to London just to make the iPhone purchase complete) ***.
(For those who enjoyed reading so far read below, if this information is enough for you to help clue me in I'd appreciate it, if you want to read more interesting stuff read below).
Wait I can't make the story short I have to tell you - so the first lady sounds like a 16 year blond from the heart of Hollywood, and she tells me to do a backup, doesnt tell me how I should transfer my contacts that I had transferred into my phone from my old Samsung galaxy, xfer them into my MacBook at which they've never been. We did a full restore after saving a backup (hoping that my contacts would stay in tact) , then we found out the restore didnt fix it, as I went and took a picture this thing happened. Then I said the heck with it I need my old backup with the apps and my contacts, so I initiated that backup and then the contacts didnt xfer in, and I was shocked, literally, 1500+ contacts destroyed by Apple. So then she passed me on to her supervisor who was the one who didnt tell me anything substantial except simple troubleshooting procedures. He told me to go into a Russian iPhone Reseller and it will be at their full discretion wether they would exchange my phone for a new one or not comply to AppleCare since apperantly it doesnt work with them and nearest apple stores are in London or Poland. So whatever, I then afrer finishing my exactly (Skype call)
11/5/11 4:52 AM Call Ended 3 hours 12 minutes 39 seconds, I, saddened, saw that in my iTunes backups I have two more backs from an earlier time, so I backed up to one of those and it xfer everything the contacts and apps! It was just enough time for me to download ExcelContact and e-mail my contacts to my gmail before this thing started happening again. My phone works now, but this thing happens now every few hours randomly and I'm outraged.
Please if anyone experienced such a problem and could help me fix this, please help me.

P.S. I used the phone fine with ATT for a week in US when I bought it, then I used it fine for 2 more weeks here in Moscow with MTS GSM. I dunno wether my phone is CDMA or GSM? =.="

Thanks for the the information Tyler. I'm still in awe, I heard that if an LCD is over heating or the phone is over heating, there would be a warning message telling me that the device is over heating, not sure how true is this?
Nah I never dropped it yet, its too fresh and precious to me but the funny thing is no matter what care I took since the three weeks that I've had it, it still developed this problem.

Imac usb keyboard/mouse freezes - please help!

i have a 700 mhz g4 flat-panel, 768 RAM, 40 GB disk, running OS 10.4.5.
the keyboard and mouse keep freezing up. sometimes one, sometimes the other. if i unplug the offending one and plug it back it, it works fine. i've tried using different USB ports, and re-setting the PRAM, but after a few minutes of use, the problem comes back.
please help!

This crash was different. Instead of a "freeze" it panicked. In the USB driver, naturally.
It was throwing these log entries beforehand:

Ok I bought it installed it used online chat and then they called. I cant understand what they are saying on the phone I speak English. Have bad hearing and just couldnt understand half the words so here we go.I have a linksys wmp54g - wre54g live in a apartment and do not have access to router use a cantenna super antenna. I get a signal of nothing to 12 mbps at best so got the wre54g ver2 to try to get a better signal. Now when I hooked it up I got 2 networks shown in my profile section and can connect to the web. No signal boost as of yet. The expander shows 2 blue lights indicating a lock on a router that says it is a linksys channel 6 2.437 ghz infrastructure disabled auto 192.168.1.102 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.1 68.87.85.98 enabled 00-16-B6-D7-AB-71 I try to load the software every way I can think of what happens is it boots the connection right before it looks for a connection then says you are not connected to a wireless system what the hell? Yes I know how to enable in wzc or in linksys dosnt work try to use the addy bar with 192.168.1.240 times out wont load page My pc cant see the expander but the connection works the expander sees the router when it is in the back room but not my pc and yes I have reset it. Set it up next to my pc then it didnt see the router or the pc. Im at a loss and I know a little about doing this stuff maybe enough to mess something up so please help. And last this is a new unit that I bought on ebay

try pinging range expander and router from the same computer, if it doesn't gives any reply or timed out...try other computer and try pinging R.E. and router, let me know the results.
