That folder with the question mark icon means that the MacBook can't find the boot directory. That can either mean it can't find the hard drive or the Operating System data on the hard drive is somehow corrupted.
Put your install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot. Be sure to either use the disc that came with your Mac, or, if you installed a later Mac OS X version from disc, use the newer disc. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option Key until the Install Disk shows up) until the apple shows up. That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
Or if you are running 10.7 Lion, boot from the recovery partition (Command +R on boot) and use Disk Utility to repair your OS 10.7 partition.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it. When it comes up is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is, then click on the Mac OS partition of your hard drive in the left hand list. Then select the First Aid Tab and run Repair Disk. The Repair Disk button won't be available until you've clicked on the Mac OS partition on your hard drive. If that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions. After repairing use Startup Disk from the same menu to choose your hard drive for restarting from your hard drive.
If your hard drive isn’t recognized in Disk Utility then your hard drive is probably dead.

I have an ASUS P5B Deluxe Wi-Fi board with the latest BIOS (26), Vista Ultimate 32bit, a P82 case, E6400 @ 3.2GHz, 2GB RAM, 8800GTS and a lovely x-fi xtreme-music soundcard, which sits in the bottom PCI slot - the gfx card is obviously in the top PCI-E slot.
Basically, whenever I'm listening to music via my PC (usual app Winamp, although WMP is used too at times) or watching DVDs etc, any movement of the mouse, or rather the scroll wheel of the mouse, results in a loud crackling and breakup of audio.
In fact, after some further testing, it seems like whenever something graphically changes on the screen (whether it be scrolling, a web page loading, a window opening etc), anything at all, this loud and ultra annoying issue occurs. The sound at start-up also crackles and breaks up.
I've tried reinstalling drivers for the x-fi and for my gfx card - neither helped. I've tried different drivers for both my GFX and x-fi. Again, no joy.
I'm now using the Creative official vista drivers CD and we updated the drivers to 2.5.002. GFX-wise I'm using the latest NVidia publically released drivers as per their site.
I'm at my wits end - can anyone help or throw any light on the issue please?
Oddly, I've only just re-installed Vista as I've fitted a new HDD. The installation before, with exactly the same board, drivers etc etc, worked fine.
Perhaps I should reformat Vista and try again?Amit,

Yes, I am guessing something is going wrong with the second point that you mentioned. That I have 0 level members selected in Page/POV and in EAS it is manually taking parent values.
Well, I did a comparision but didn't see any differences though. I am using SETUPDATE CALC ON statement in my BR.
Can you suggest me on how can I fix this?

A question mark folder appears on the start up after the sound ... with white back ground
im using macbook pro 11in ... i had recently ungraded to os x lion through app store .... i was working on my laptop with firefox open .. i closed my macbook just as i normally do to make it go to sleep (not shutdown) ... i went hope i opend it and it was stuck .. nothing was moving ,.. there was this rainbow wheel instaed of the mouse arrow .. so i pressed and hold the power button and it got shut.. i opened it and now there is the question mark folder after the start up sound ... i dont have my snow lepoard dvds with me .. im traveling ... when i press the option key on the start up i dont get the recovery disk which was an option with the lion os x ... so now wat i do ... help help !!!!
You can try a SMC and PRAM reset, but I think something got fried and your going to need to take it in for service.

Someone please help me with this Mac mail nightmare!!!
somewhere between 10.2 and 10.3 my mail settings became all wild and out of control. What I'm talking about is this. When I open my Mac in the morning, or anytime I go online I must first clear out all mail in my .Mac mail account first before proceeding to Mac mail. If I don't delete all mail in .Mac's mail account first, and then open Mac mail, it will freeze up on me immeadiately. Even if I'm using mail and more mail comes into .Mac mail account from the Internet....it will freeze up too. This has become very tiresome!
So, everytime I want to send an email from Mac mail, I must first go .Mac mail account and delete all mail .
Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, do you have a solution?
MahaloVerify/repair your disk first (not just permissions), as described here:

Now, try the following in order to identify (not solve) the problem:
1. Either tell Mail to go offline immediately after opening it, or shut down your Internet connection and open Mail afterwards.
2. Go to Preferences > Junk Mail and disable junk mail filtering.
3. Go online again.
Post back with your observations. -

Yeah that is my question also.
If bought Used from a Private person then you need to Register it with Apple on the Apple Website.
You should also check that it is a Late 2011 model as if it is an early 2011 model it may of originally came with Snow Leopard Pre-Installed and that means that is should not of been sold with Lion installed. As if it is a early 2011 model that did come with SL installed then Lion is regisrted to the original buyer of Lion and not to the serial # of that Mac. -

Thanks for your reply, but I've already done that and the Column Browser options are completely grayed out. I've taken a screen shot and hope I can paste it in here. You'll see I have the sidebar open. That's the way I prefer to deal with iTunes.
This happened after I updated to iTunes 11.0.4. Perhaps that changed the setting options. I think I had the Column Browser option prior to that, but I just got a new iPod and I was busy loading stuff, so not completely sure if it worked before the update. But I think I would have noticed, because it bugs me so much not to have the option. -

It depends on what country you're in and whether or not they're still available in the iTunes Store. Some purchased movies and all rentals won't be available.

I have unlocked my iphone and when tried to upgrade it, i got an error, so i restored it.But i was not able to activate my iphone 3gs now...it is showing a message like ' sim card not found'..please help me with this regard
Try popping out the SIM card and turn off the phone.
Pop in the SIM card once again and turn on the phone, make sure that the SIM card is placed and seated perfectly in the tray!
