PLEASE HELP---Music and Photos copied from PC are LOCKED

I copied all my photos and music from PC to USB drive then to MAC and they work fine, however, when i try to delete the desktop.ini files since mac doesnt need those and other songs or whatever I want to get rid of it wont delete because several of the folders or subfolders are locked.
To delete it I can select get info on each folder then UNCHECK Locked and it will let me delete, but how can I copy all this over or turn off the locked feature on everything at once since going through hundreds and hundreds of music folders and subfolders to click get info then uncheck locked is nearly impossible.

Hi,
Open Terminal (Applications/Utilities), type this command and leave a space afterwards then having selected all the files you want to unlock, drag and drop them into the Terminal window and press return:
chflags nouchg

I recently purchased an iPad 4 that runs iOS 6.0. I would like to transfer my music and photo libraries from my iMac that runs OS 10.5.8 ((Leopard). My iMac is network wirelessly on my LAN along with an iBook, printers, and a PC. I understand that I'm not able to add the iPad to the network, unfortunately. However, I found an app (Good Reader) that lets me create a WiFi connection between my iMac and iPad, but only transfer files into the Good Reader app itself. Can someone suggest a workaround to be able to transfer my music and photo libraries so I can use them on the iPad? thank you very much for any ideas.

Import music and photo library from i pad to mac book pro

i had a problem with the hard drive of my mac book pro and sold all conents. I now want to put the music and photo library and import it on the mac. it does not allow me to do it. what is the best way to do it so i have my library again on the mac books?

You should be able to copy iTunes purchased music back via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases, but for music from other sources (e.g. copied from CDs), and if you don't have a copy of it anywhere else, then you will need a third-party program to copy it back from your iPad - there are some programs listed half-way down this page which should be able to copy it : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

For photos, if they were taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites then on a Mac you can use Image Capture, iPhoto or Aperture to copy them off : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
To copy photos that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app on your iPad such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to an iPad, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer.

I had purchased laptop “pavalion DV4/WR717PA” on 25th august 2010 from LAPTOP WORLD ,BHILAI, Dist- DURG. My system hard drive got corrupted as stated by the service centre people. They had given 15 days time limit to replace it. The problem is that my all documents, study material and presentation have been with the corrupted HARD DICS. Your service centre engineer is telling that system is not detecting HARD DISC.
AND NO RECOVERY DVD IS GIVEN TO ME AT THE TIME OF PURCHASING LAPTOP; EVEN THEY DON’T INFORM ME THAT SUCH CD IS PROVIDED BY COMPANY…
I request to you to please get my data’s with that HARD DISC as my examinations are starting from 2nd week of June. I am helpless without that study materials’ had worked very hard on the documents and presentations. Please get me those data’s any how…. Other wise I am unable to pass this year.
I had very much on faith your company’s laptop had purchased hour’s company laptop in spite of many lo-cost laptop present in the market.

Please help: Playlists and Play Counts from iPod?

I got a new computer and have downloaded iTunes. I've Added my music from my external drive, but my Playlists and Counts weren't in the Music file on my external drive.
I attached my iPod and Cancelled the Sync-up so that I could look for files on the iPod and copied over the following that looked like the might be useful:

Does anyone know if I could put any of these files into my iTunes folder on my new Vista system and would that bring the playlists and everything over? Then I could sync with my new computer and everything should be the same as the old. Thank you!

The file you're wanting is the database ITL file:

The path on Vista is \Users\[your username]\Music\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl , I believe. You need to get the ITL file from your old PC if you want to keep your ratings & playcounts.

If your backup is incomplete you won't be able to use it. Do you have any backups on your computer? (You can check by opening iTunes and going to iTunes>Preferences>Devices (Edit>Preferences>Devices on a PC). That will list any available backups on your computer.

I have an old Apple TV with built in hard drive is it possible to retrive Music and Photo's ?

I recently had a new Hard Drive fitted into my MacBook Pro and could not retrieve files from the old drive, however I do have an old Apple TV (one of the old ones with built in Hard Drive).

To the best of my knowledge I dont think thats possible unless you take the device apart and connect the drive inside to a Mac with a cradle.

I have a Desktop PC...Macbook Pro...Ipad..Iphone...Imac in my home. My music and photo's are on my Macbook Pro and whenever I want to update my Iphone or Ipad I connect to to my Macbook Pro. Now I would like to update everything from my Desktop PC. What is the easiest way to move my music and photo's from my Macbook Pro onto my desktop PC so I can, going forward, connect my Iphone or Ipad to my Desktop PC in order to update everything. I do also have an Icloud account. Thank You.

Moving iTunes Music from one computer to another or an external drive - HT1449 - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1449.
For iPhoto, launch iPhoto, select "photos" in the left column, then go up to "edit" in the top menu bar, and select "select all". Now go to the top menu bar - file / export - when the export window opens, change the "jpeg quality" to maximum, and change the "file name" drop down to "use title", then click "export". Another window opens, and you want to select "desktop", then "new folder" in the bottom left. Name the folder, then click create. Now click OK in the bottom right.
Once the export is finished, move the folder to an external drive, and then to the other computer.

If you manually manage the device the you can remove the content from the PC after you have put it on the device. However this isn't the recommended way. At some point you'll probably need to restore it which involves wiping all the data. If you don't have all this data to hand then you'll have to try to recover it from a now problematic device first. It's much easier to sync with your library - yes you have two copies, but that's not a waste, it is prudent. As long as you have two copies you can afford to lose one knowing you have a backup. In practice I keep a complete backup of my library, in addition to the subsets of it that I can put on my devices.

The music should be in iTunes and your photos should be in iPhoto. What happens if you launch those applications?

I tried hard reset on my iPhone. I tried restarting laptop and iPhone. I tried a different laptop. I tried removing driver and reinstalling from Device Manager but did not find a driver other than "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" under "Universal Serial Bus controllers" which I heard shouldn't be uninstalled.
Anything I haven't tried?

Are you seeing your music listed in the iPod screen, or in Win explorer as in your earlier post?
I can see all the songs in my Edrive>al's Ipod> Ipod Control> Music folder.
A corrupted iPod database, will report zero music used, and have your music size reported as others, so you wont see the music in the iPod screen. Sorry, I thought there was some hope for you with iPodAccess, in recovery of the corrupted iPod database with your ratings.
You can try to borrow and use the Mac Disk Utility ->First Aid ->Repair.
Of course, if your iPod Hardisk is in a bad state, from the Disk Diagnostic report, then all my suggestion are futile.
