Please Help My Daughter - iBook G4 Needs Software Upgrade ??
I have recently inherited an iBook G4 1.2 GHZ 256 RAM I think 30 or 50 GB. I cannot tell now because of what I did. The iBook was not working and I found it had a bad solder on one of the chips (a common issue on this model). Once repaired, it needed a new battery, and then it sprang right to life. The iBook worked great - I could use Safari, Garage Band, etc, but due to it's age, Itunes did not work and so I thought if I reinstalled the original operating system (Panther 10.3.5 circa 2004) from the original discs, then I could upgrade from there until I found an iTunes version I could use with a newly reset iPod I had and use it basically just for music. BIG MISTAKE. After I cleanly installed it all, I now cannot use Safari, profiler won't open and neither will most other applications - I double click them, they flash once and then go away on the sidebar. So, I need to find a way to upgrade this machine past 10.3.5 so I can get it to work. Right now, I can only get to the internet using ie for Mac 5.2 - UGH !!! Now I know why Apple stopped using that software. Anyway, I was doing all of this to get a clean version of iTunes on it so as a surprise, my daughter could sell it and the iPod to raise money for a class trip she is taking to New York in the Spring of 2015. Please please help me. Is it as simple as getting updated OS software? I have tried a Tiger disc, but it stopped before it really even got started and said it could not be loaded. I can see the previous user still has files under user and I can see the folder for the previous system, but they are not accessible. I do have a 27" Mac desktop if that will help me to upgrade the iBook in any way. Thank you for reading all of this. my iphoto wont open since i updated my mac, please help? it says i need to install an iphoto library upgrader which I have installed but still cant see my photos.
What version of iPhoto are you using? 9.6 is the current version.
Do a backup.
Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.iPhoto.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

Check the hosts file. The restore will fail if there is an active entry to redirect gs.apple.com. Follow iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting to edit the hosts file or revert to a default hosts file. See section "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows) > Rebuild network information".
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.

I left my ipod touch at a friends house. She doesnt have internet. So it's not connected to the internet. And I had never charged it so it's been dead for about a week now. Try going to disc mode, restart the iPod hold the center + pause buttons then plug it in to your computer and restore it

I have a BB Bold 9700, via Carphone Warehouse on O2 (UK).
I just downloaded this software update in good faith, via the desktop manager. It has changed several things I did not wish to change, some of them without any explanation as to how to revert to what I had before.
One thing it has done is duplicate all my calendar entries, using different email addresses as default calendar addresses. I never had this with the previous software. Also, I am having trouble entering a new calendar entry on a day where there is already an "all day" entry.
I guess the more we rely on these little machines, the more we suffer when things go wrong. Does anyone have any clues as to what to do ? Carphone Warehouse could not help and accessing anyone at BB seems impossible.

Yes, I checked the wifi settings and nothing has visibly changed, and no, I haven't received ANY prompts from Apple about app upgrades -- and before you ask, yes, my iPad is registered with Apple with me as the owner;
The decision to cut the power was one of the moronic moves that bother me, as it renders the device useless for the growing number of photographers looking to give Apple their MONEY to use it; and
I should not have to reset the network settings just because Apple can't get the bugs out of an update before they issue it. -

Please help! CR 2008 to CR 2011 upgrade
I have Crystal Reports 2008 installed. I purchased CR 2011 upgrade. Looking for the process to install this upgrade. I have searched the website for 2 days with no luck. please help!

1) You would not be able to upgrade to Crystal Reports 2011 from the Crystal Reports 2008's start page
2) CR 2008 and CR 2011 are two separate licenses and both of them need to be installed individually. It's not a simple Service Pack/Fix Pack upgrade, it's a complete version upgrade
You can install both CR 2008 and CR 2011 side by side on single machine. In my machine i installed both versions with out any problems. the both versions are working good.

Please help me restor my system in my iphone5 Bcoz I got this problem that I can't connect to our wifi in our home after I upgraded this iOS7.0.4...totally very disturbing and frustrating even my outside I can't search any wifi connections ant my network service when I'm in home is very slow my Rogers network is only 1 bar so even I will open my Data I can't really connect so meaning no network connections when I'm in my Bedroom and No wifi connections too I can only possible got connections when I get near the Reuter of the wifi like now while I'm doing this report but in my bedroom totally nothing and not even connecting when I bring this to Rogers outlet where I bought this iPhone,I can't even search or connect in the store wifi itself...very disappointed this problem last 1week already please help me it never happen before just now after I upgrade that iOS7.0.4
Thanks for this mha007 - I can now open FF with a new profile. Can I copy my settings from the old profile or will this bring over the same problem, maybe a corrupt file. If it would bring the same problem, is there any way I can check which file is corrupt, apart from taking them over one by one?

Please help me! iBooks delete all pdfs then uploads all at every sync.
Hi everyone, I need some help, much appreciated if anyone can give me a hand. I have hundreds of heavy PDF files I use in a daily basis for Uni, about 10GB in my iPad 3 (the one pre-air) is of PDFs. I ran into an issue today for the first time ever, I uploaded a new file to iBooks via ibook in the iMac (with Maverick) + iTunes as usual and the author had lots of unusual characters something like "%674f88uh7(*&" ok...after that file was upoloaded, all other pdfs started to freeze and not loading anymore. So I delete that file and after that nothing worked since. all files showing that loading icon but nothing..so I deleted my entire library (Noooooo) and uplaoded everything again. Now everytime I add a new pdf, the entire library (10GB) of books go grey, then disappear and start loading 1 by 1 all over again, no more incremental uploads like I used to have before/ I tried all settings possible, but again, if I hit sync on iTunes, the iPad library empties out, and starts loading all books, this takes a long hour to complete...I need help please, what am i doing wrong?

The first time I needed to wipe a cluttered firefox profile, then re-merged my sync and while it restored all of my bookmarks, it only caught half my passwords.
The second time, today, I needed to reinstall windows. I connected to firefox sync and selected merge, but the only bookmarks merged in were those I added recently, likely since the 1.4 update.
This is very troubling to me as there was never any warning that all of my data would not be secure. It was my fault for depending on it but now several years worth of bookmarks are just gone.
Am I using it wrong? When a new version comes out do I need to somehow re-sync everything? One would think that is taken care of automatically.
Please let us know if there is a way to recover our lost data.
And for the sake of other users please track this down and consider warning people they could lose their data.

Activation /authorisation problems please help distraught daughter

I bought my daughter a Sony Touch ereader for her birthday because she was envious of mine which I have had for a year and love. I had to go to work on her birthday so she was on her own when she set it up and I'm not entirely sure what she has done. As far as I can make out she installed Adobe Digital Editions about a month ago knowing that she was going to get an ereader and downloaded some ebooks to start with thinking she could transfer them to the ereader when she got it. I think she got herself an Adobe ID at the time but as far as ADE goes I suspect she did not authorise her computer with that ID at the time.
When she installed her ereader, ADE prompted her to authorise her computer which she did using the Adobe ID. She also bought some more ebooks which she transferred to her ereader no problem. However she still couldn't open any of the ebooks she bought before authorising. She has only ever used the one laptop for all of this so the issue with two separate accounts on two different computers should not apply.
I had a look at all the troubleshooting sites I could find and it suggested deauthorising and reauthorising the computer. That's when it all went pearshaped. She now can't open ANY of the purchased ebooks even the ones she could open previously. The ereader properties said it was authorised for Adobe DRM content and it had the right Adobe ID address. But when she tries to open them it says she is not authorised to preview the book. I have checked she used the same adobe ID and password for everything so it's not that
One of the things one always tries is uninstalling and reinstalling problem software. So I tried reinstalling ADE to make sure we had the most up to date version. But then it didn't recognise the ereader. WHSmith ebooks customer support said to download ADE yet again. I have now hit the too many activations problem. She has submitted a case through the web based support portal case number #0181349188 to get her permitted number of activations reset because we can't do anything until that is sorted out.
However I don't think that will solve the problem because as far as I could tell the computer was authorised properly but it would not recognise the ebooks downloaded before it was deauthorised and reauthorised. I don't know why it's an issue because it's not as if she has tried to transfer content from or to different computers or devices, she only has the one laptop.
Please can anyone help me sort this out. She is absolutely distraught as she has spent all her birthday money on ebooks she can't now open and as she is a student she can't just afford to write off the loss. And I feel sick about it because I thought she'd be thrilled with her new toy
I'm reasonably computer literate and I have never had any problem with my own Sony ereader (but then I tend to read the ...manual). I use my own ereader with a different computer by the way so I don't think it's a conflict. But I am stumped by this. Her laptop is about a year old a Sony Vaio running Vista Home edition. The registry may be a bit cluttered but although I can reinstall Windows if I have to I have never attempted a registry editI am a very happy woman!! (And I have a very happy daughter)

I got an error message when I connected the ereader saying a problem occurred while installing the Ereader software on your computer and I still couldn't open some of the ebooks even though I could open them in ADE so my heart sank. However I deleted the problem titles from the ereader and reimported them and then they were fine. I don't know what the error in installing the software was as it seems to be fully functional albeit rather slow to import large titles

Well, a couple of things...
First off, noise gating is rarely--if ever--going to yield perfect results for the application you're suggesting. I'm not just talking Audition--I'm talking every hardware or software noise gate I've ever used. The change in ambience as the mic opens and closes, coupled with the inevitable clipping of the beginnings or ends of words makes it a not-very-good tool for voice recording. I tend to use it for things drum kits with multiple mics but rarely for voice.
If I was you, before looking for an electronic solution, I'd be seeing what gains you can get with a physical re-arrangement of your recording set up. Obviously, I don't know the details but things like adding a pop screen, moving the mic a bit farther from the desk, making sure the papers you shuffle are in the null of the mic, perhaps hanging something soft behind you to deaden reflections, etc. may pay bigger dividends than noise gating.
Having said all that, setting up a gate tends not to be something I do by numbers but, rather, adjust by ear and instinct. Perhaps if you could post a brief sample of an untreated voice, we could have a play. Alas, this forum doesn't support direct uploads of audio so you'll have to use one of the many services that allow you to post for downloading...things like Dropbox or Box.net.
