Please help! my desktop restarted itself?

hey guys,
this morning i woke up and turned on my laptop, and i realized that all my information was missing...it basically seemed like my desktop had restarted itself and got rid of everything that was on it. (my music, my photos, everything)
i freaked out
and then i digged into my computer and found out that under Users, it still had my original information and applications and stuff.
what happened? and how do i get it back so that it starts up the way it used to?
i feel that the other day, i tried to change my "user name" from "na" to Joana (i got my laptop fixed a while back and they named it na...the little house icon...you know? sorry, im not a big computer buff).
so i feel that maybe when i tried to change it it somehow moved everything away?
i hope i explained it alright...

have had the same problem. also not a computer buff - mine had not been in for work when it would go to sleep after i had shut if down. happened a few times then i lost photos, lots of them. took it to local APPLE repairs and they found nothing, 21 days later.
last night it did it again - powered off at home and sleeping when i got to the office.
any advice?

PLEASE HELP Ipod continually restarts itself

Hi, I have never had this much trouble with my ipod in the past, but I tried to restore it and didn't realize it died in the middle. After the attempted restore, now I cannot get it to do anything except restart itself continuously. I do not have apple care any longer, as it is 3 years old. Macupdate Desktop and Techtracker Desktop restart itself on reboot of Mountain Lion

This is a weird problem on my MacBook Pro with Retina display running Mountain Lion.
I have Macpdate Desktop and Techtracker Desktop software on my system to alert me on software padres. boy work fine.
Problem thatI have recently is that even though I have quit both programs after use, and they are not running anymore. When I reboot my Mac, there's two software restart itself.
How can I prevent this to happen? I don't want to disable all software to resume after reboot. Just want to solve prolem with this two software. This is because I I want the Finder window to reopen on my Desktop after reboot.
Any friend here can advise a permanent solution that work?
I have tried to remove files that related to these two software in Saved Applicatin State folder, it help solve the problem on that reboot, but soon, he problem will start again. Not a big issue, bu simpy annoyance.
Advise please and thank in advance.

Go to system preferences>users & groups>login items. If those two items are there, delete them.

HELP BB keep restarting itself with 'missing Media card' error

hi all
this is the 200th time my BB is restarting itself today. and it keeps doing that every 10 sec regardless of what i am doing at the moment. this issue had been noticed more often when i try to sync via wire to my laptop, but once i unplug it will be ok.
today even when i unplug the issue wouldn't stop, please help!!

Is there any media card installed in your device? Remove it and check the behavior.

I own a new Macbook and have been using it non stop. It's been a great machine! I still own a ibook G4 1.2 with 30GB HD. I haven't used it in a while. Last week I started it up and it woudln't get past the initial spinwheel. I used the Hardware test to check it out. Everything passed. I restarted it and it wood start up, but then tell me I had to restart it. It oes to a grey screen and tells me o restart everytime I turn it on. I have imortant info on the ibook. I tried using the macbook to get my old files, but the ibook won't show up. Any thoughs? I tried reseting the PRAM to no avail. It only has the stock 26 Ram, could that be the problem? It never gave me any problems beore. Someone please help me.

I tried to o that. I get to the part that says Introduction. You know the first step. When I hit continue nothing happens. The continue button doesn't light up blue or anything. Thanks for your quick response though. Any other thoughts?

Please community i need your help. I restored my computer from Lion to lion, before i had Leopard and i had all my favority desktop wallpapers, for example aurora , earth horizon , earth etc.. When i installed for the first time Lion , i got even more desktop images for ex. Aurora at grey or blue colors those i loved so much . I am so new to mac's ok i did not even know where my folders were, i even wanted to get the same background images for me phone too ^^. But when i did a restore from Lion to Lion means that i erased(and i forgot to backup or search for the desktop images on my mac it was to late ) my disk and got the install all over again , all my desktop wallpapers were gone. Now please if possible for some1 to sent me if he got upgraded from Leopard to Lion and did not erased or kept a backup of desktop images, to simple sent me the folder with all the descibed images i mention, i would be very happy again thank you.

Please help with desktop

My desktop is still locked and won't let me move anything to or from it. Things get put away and I have to search with spotlight to find them. What can I do I think it's to do with the terminal ( just a guess). I have onyx and Main menu.

Thankyou for your replies but I've done all those things. The problem is to do with the inner workings I vaguely remember pressing something that said it couldn't be undone (and couldn't stop it doing what it was doing) and I need to find the authority to put things on the desktop. I'm presented with a message to enter my authorisation but if I enter my ordinary password it tells me that I do not have enough authority to do what I'm trying to do.
On onyx the user ID is 501
and the identity is uid=501(teresa) gid=501(teresa)groups=501(teresa),81(appserveradm), 79(appserverusr), 80(admin)

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

HT4623 i done the new iphone update on my iphone 4 - it has crashed and now has the apple logo on. please help

Restart computer. Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer with USB Cable. Hold both home and power buttons until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. This usually takes about 20 seconds of holding both buttons. Click the Restore button of iTunes.

Try restarting it. If this does not work, then hard restart it which is holding the power and home button until the product ***** off. If this does not help either, plug it into the computer and restore it. Make sure you back up the device before you restore it though! my nokia n72 has encountered a unique problem. i save all my pics,videos and even messages on memory card. But yet my phone memory (19 mb) keeps getting used gradually. initially it was 12mb . it kept on reducing till now its 70kb and i cant even send or receive messages!!!!

I am assuming you updated to version 5.1.1, not 5.0.1 since no legitimate version of 5.0.1 is available.

     Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
     COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and

     Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
     Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
     Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button.
