my ipad was stolen in africa i have a picture of the intruder where do i go on apple to mark it stolen to wipe it or what not when it connects back to wifi. it has connected a few times and i even have a picture of the intruder but what do i do?

It's gone.
The downside of the 'find my' app is that your device needs to be online, and it is an app that can be defeated within minutes by any thief that knows what they're doing.
Hopefully you've already protected your data, changed passwords etc.
Chances are your iPad has been wiped and sold and it's gone.
You can or should have reported the theft to the police. You might get lucky.

If you set up the Find My iPad service in the Settings prior to the iPad going missing, then there is a chance that can be tracked, wiped of its data or locked (which does the same thing as activating the screen lock), though it depends on a number of factors: the iPad is turned on, is connected to a WiFi or 3G network, and has not had the Find My iPad service turned off or the iPad completely restored. Log into icloud.com and go to the Find My iPhone section.
If you did not set up Find My iPad, then there is no way to track it. Report the loss the police and change any passwords for any online accounts you may have used from your iPad (the iTunes Store, for instance).

If you have the following activate, you can locate it using Find My iPhone app (from different iOS or icloud.com)
> iCloud (running on your apple id)
> Find my iPhone Active
Do the following:
> Change all passwords used on that iPad.
> Remotely lock your device (if it can be located)
> Contact your local police or law enforcement.
Most thefts cannot be stopped.
Apple won't do anything without a court order.

Apple can't do anything to help you, I'm afraid. All you can do is report it to the police, though I'm afraid the chances of recovery are likely to be low.

Photos are not on icloud.com. You could set up iCloud on your computer and enable photo stream to get back photo stream photos from the last 30 days (see http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/). To access your camera roll photos and other data and settings, you will need to restore your backup to another iPad. If your backup is in iCloud, be sure to do this before it is 180 days old or Apple will delete it.

The only way to track it is if it was running iOS 5 or higher, you set up iCloud on it and enabled Find My iPad.

How can I switch on the location device from a remote location such as my computer, to help me locate where it is ?
Im also trying to view my 'Notes' which I made on the ipad, but I cant get to them online.
Ive locked it from my computer - what does this mean ?
Can the person that stole it still turn it on with no apps or programs working ?
What if he guesses the 4 digit passcode which I created, can I change it ?
