Please Help!  My iPod Mini is completely dead :(

Hello,
I went to use my mini yesterday and it's completely dead. It won't power up, it won't charge (via both wall outlet or my USB port).
What should I do???

Hey All,
I was in San Francisco last week and stopped in @ the apple store to see if they could help. I explained my situation. The store employee plugged in my ipod and to my surprise it worked. i have no idea what happened. The store employee was at a loss as well. Bottom line though, we both figured my mini needed a new battery. So, I have ordered a new battery.
I guess this proves that old ipods never die...they are just a little harder to wake up

  • Please help me, Ipod mini is not charging nor recognizing

    I connected my mini with my PC,but nothing happened,not charging nor any recognition. Then, all hard working coming....
    First of all,i checked my PC has USB2.0 port,(Asus P4P800 deluxe),for make sure about that,i opened device manager to find i have "standard enhanced PCI to USB host controller" present.well then,it seems not my PC's problem.
    Secondly, i tried to reset my mini,surely, that's no any response since it's never been charged. For additional carefulness,i waited for above 30 mins as guide book says it may need time to charge the battery at the first time. Actually, i connected it with my PC for 2 hours.. nothing's happened.. really annoying.
    Finally,i tired to update itunes to a new version,but no miracle happens,the mini even does show on my resource list....i am revolting now..
    I got this one for a little fun, but all it's given are troubles...I spent 2 hours on getting it started already.Thank godness if anyone can help me. Lots of appreciation.

    Yeah.....after 4 hours connecting with my PC,it's charging now.......just started 5 mins ago. I am faint,why just told me need to wait a few hours,make me confused and annoyed.
    hope not too many problems later.

    You may have to do this several times.
    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
  • Help with Ipod mini
    I'm having a problem with my mini. It turns it self on, and then right back off constantly, until the batteries run out. when i hook it up to the computer, it recharges, and then goes back to the on/off cycle. the computer won't recognize it. All i see is the apple logo clicking on then off then on etc...
    I've tried resetting it, but it just goes back to the on/off cycle.
    Please help!
    iPod Doesn’t Appear on OS X Desktop or in iTunes
    I hope this helps!
    The other option is to just kinda let it run itself out of battery, then see how it's doing.
  • HT5824 I switched over from an iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy S3 & I haven't been able to receive any text messages from iPhones. Please help with turning my iMessage completely off..
    I switched over from an iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy S3 & I haven't been able to receive any text messages from iPhones. I have no problem sending the text messages but I'm not receivng any from iPhones at all. It has been about a week now that I'm having this problem. I've already tried fixing it myself and I also went into the sprint store, they tried everything as well. My last option was to contact Apple directly. Please help with turning my iMessage completely off so that I can receive my texts.
    If you registered your iPhone with Apple using a support profile, try going to https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do and unregistering it.  Also, try changing the password associated with the Apple ID that you were using for iMessage.
    Have you tried the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing will be lost
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
    However, ou may have a hardware problem like a dead battery and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store may be in order.
  • PLEASE HELP- MY IPOD IS COMPLETELY DEAD
    My Ipod touch is not even a year old, yesterday it went completely dead, no power what so ever. Has anyone any idea what could be wrong with it, and if this can be fixed!
    Thanks in advance
    Try to force your iPod into recovery mode. Disconnect it from the computer's USB cord. Press and hold the home button while plugging it into the computer's USB cord. Continue holding the Home button while the iPod starts up. While starting up, you will see the Apple logo. When you see "Connect to iTunes" on the screen, you can release the Home button and iTunes will display the recovery mode message. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
    Then you can restore your iPod: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
  • Help with iPod mini (Battery issues)
    I am an owner of an iPod mini (1st generation) that I bought in February from Amazon. The mini has constant battery issues that have led me to suspect a bad battery within.
    For instance; I leave my mini in it's charging cable overnight, and it reports "charged" in the morning. I leave it for the rest of the day in my coat's poket but during my walk home from the bus stop, I find that the mini's battery is completely DISCHARGED and doesn't work at all. I'm sick and tired of having my battery last only a minute before it completely dies on me while walking home.
    Can anyone lead me to a source of help? I NEED to get this problem fixed as I don't want to listen yo all my music while having to be hooked up to a cable.
    iPod Mini (1st generation)   Windows XP   Battery discharged in a minute.
    Edited by an Apple Host
    Apple will replace your battery (if its within one year of purchase, no receipt needed, just the SERIAL # on the back of your mini), and you can get repair for FREE, just $32 for shipping and handling, OR you can, if an Apple store is near your home or in your town, take it to them, and get a REPLACEMENT mini on the spot, for FREEEEE!!!
    Try those methods, but i HIGHLY suggest you take it to an Apple store first and see their take on the issue!!!
