Please help! My iPod won't transfer purchases to my new computer's library.

"Attempting to copy to the disk 'C:\' failed. An unknown error has occured (-69)"
This came up while my iPod was in the process of transfering my purchased songs/videos. Does anyone know how to fix this? I would appreciate the help!

Point 2 might still be applicable, it explains finding which file is causing the problem.
"Watch the display at the top of the iTunes window while your iPod is being updated. The name of the problematic file should appear in the display right before the error appears"
If the file is corrupted in some way you'll most likely have to put the iPod in Manual mode and delete it unfortunately. Further down in the article is this passage "To prevent future issues, you should delete the unusable files, then restore them from a backup". The problem then might be do you have a back up or not?

You will also have to copy the iPod backup file to the new computer and then restore your iPod from backup using that backup. The file is located here:
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: If you do not see the AppData or Application Data folders, you may need to show hidden files (Windows XP,  Windows Vista and Windows 7), or iTunes may not be installed in the default location. Show hidden files and then search the hard drive for the Backup directory
You can also  make a backup on the new computer by conneting the iPod and right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and selecting BackUp. When you retore from backup sometime the app folder structure get messed up.

  • Please help!  Ipod won't work with my itunes after plugged into MAC

Hi, I am brand new to my ipod and i plugged it into my PC to get it started, then i plugged it into a friends mac to get his songs- now when i plug it back into my computer it says it is linked to another itunes library and asks if i want to link it back to this one and replace all of the music. I do not want to loose all of the music but want it reconnected to my itunes with the music on my computer and taking the music on the ipod (from my friends itunes) into my itunes. What do i do? I apologize if this is something posted before,i couldn't find an answer. Please help!! thanks

That above article will not resolve the issue. It explaines it clearly in the article.
"Using an iPod formatted for Macintosh on a Windows computer is not supported. Using an iPod formatted for Windows on a Macintosh computer is not supported."
this means that it won't work with out a 3rd party tool. You HAVE to restore it if you take it between different OS. That document works only if your taking it between windows machines or all mac machines.

  • My iPod won't transfer all of my songs to my Library

Just downloaded iTunes on a Lenovo w530, windows 7 laptop; previously had iTunes on an iMac (2006). The iMac is broken and won't start, but I synced my entire iTunes library to my iPod (gen2).
I have already authorized the computer and signed in with my apple account.
So, when I transfer my purchases from my iPod to the laptop, it will transfer all the songs/apps/etc to the new iTunes, but it will leave most of my songs behind. Yes, I have noticed that the songs it left behind weren't purchased directly from iTunes. The other songs were either synced from CDs (e.g. Linkin Park's Living Things CD doesn't show up in new library) or purchased from other online sites. Is there a way to  either sync these songs as well or to manually transfer them to my library?
If nothing else work's i'll just have to download all the songs from the CDs again...
[Also, IDK if this helps, but I'm not used to using windows at all, so there may be some strange simple thing that I'm not doing correctly, so even the simplest tip could be helpful!]
Any help would be wonderful, thanks.

That article tells me how to "transfer my purchases", which I've already done; it doesn't tell me how to transfer the songs that don't transfer with the "transfer my purchases" option.
You didn't check on the "media recovery software" section at the end of the Tip, which covers non-purchases?

  • How do I get my iPhone 4 to transfer purchases to a new computer?

I got a new computer (Windows) and I want to switch my iPhoneover so I don't have to use my old computer to sync anymore.  I did the "backing up the original library and restoring it onto the new computer" thing, but that apparently didn't copy over all the songs that were in my library because I should have just over 1600, give or take a few that I bought on my phone and never transferred over to the computer, but it only lists 871 songs, and it refuses to transfer purchases from my iPhone saying "you need to authorize this computer." I authorized and deauthorized and reauthorized, but it still says it needs to be authorized. When i click authorize, at this point, it lets me go through authorization...only to tell me "this computer is already authorized."
I'm incredibly frustrated and am at my wits end. I cross-checked the songs that are on my computer to the ones that are on my actual phone and a lot of my absolute favorites aren't on my computer so I don't want to just sync it and lose them all, but I'd like to be able to sync my phone to my computer so that I can update and put some new audiobooks on it because I listen to a lot of audiobooks at my job.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Make sure iTunes on the computer is logged into the account on the phone.
    Plug the iPhone in.
In the popup window warning about wiping your phone, hit cancel.
In the left pane of iTunes, the phone icon should be there.
Right click on it, select transfer purchases.
Note: this will only transfer music bought from iTunes. Not mp3's from amazon or ripped from CD's.

  • Can't transfer purchases to a new computer

    Hi -
    1. I have a new pc.
    2. I have an ipod touch
    3. I transferred my old itunes library to my new computer, as I tyransferred and set up all of my old data
    4. I also enabled a location for my itunes library in d:\data\Itunes, rather then C:\Users\My_Name <-- win7. This works ok for syncing, etc.
    5. My new computer is auithorized
    6. When I go to install the new version of IOS, it says your purchases have not been transferred to your computer. I have synced and backedup the ITouch.
    7. When I go to trasnfer the purchases, I am told that the computer is not authorized.
    I am very confused.
I am also confused about what syncing is, vs., backup, vs., transferring purchases.
    Thank you in advance.

Thank you very much for the link to the 'Resolution Page' for this Issue of not being able to Transfer Purchased Items to Itunes from a new pc.
The resolutions on the page were as follows
_Authorize your purchases from an administrator account_
I am administrator, always have been, and always will be
_Authorize using the correct account name_
I only have one Apple account
_Turn Off User Account Controls (Windows Vista and Windows 7 Only)_
Win 7 (turned off UAC, rebooted, turned UAC back on, rebooted, authorized computer) - as always, it says my computer is authorized; however, subsequent attempt to transfer purchases results in the same message saying that my computer is not authorized.
    ___Remove the SC Info folder_
Deleted SC Info folder, and then re-authorized computer, as always it authorized ok, but then refused to transfer purchases
    What can I do next?
    THank you again. Deb

  • Transfer purchased tracks to new computer

I would like to transfer songs I have purchased on my old G$ to my new MacBook. How can I do this?

    hi,
if you have an iPod, you can use that. sync the purchased playlist to your Pod and plug it into the other computer. next, find the +transfer purchases+ option by right clicking on the purchased playlist on your iPod.
alternatively, you can back up the playlist to CD(s) and restore the backup on the new computer.

If using a Mac, use Migration Assistant to move your iTunes library from old computer to new.  Afterwards you can sync from your new computer to your iPod.

  • HT1386 new computer, how do I transfer from Iphone to new computer itunes library?

I purchased a new computer.  Thought I backed up to Itunes before but nothing shows in music library once I log in.  How do I preserve whats on phone to itunes on new computer?

iTunes will only transfer music purchased from iTunes from the phone to your iTunes library.  Music from other sources can only be transferred from your phone to your iTunes library using 3rd pary software such as Touch Copy.  Your only other options would be to re-import this music from other sources (such as CDs) or to copy the entire iTunes folder from your old computer to your new one, using one of the methods outlined here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527.

  • Please help! iPod won't sync: "Disk could not be read from or written to."

I am at the end of my rope with the endless problems I've been having with iTunes and my iPod ever since the iTunes update which included Gapless Playback (a feature which now invariably crashes my entire computer unless I disable it quickly enough). My latest problem has now made my iPod completely useless because I cannot sync it with my music library. Every time it tries to update the songs, it either crashes or I get the error message "Disk could not be read from or written to." I have tried restoring my iPod, which seemed to work, except that after the restore function seemingly completed I still have the flashing Do Not Disconnect screen on my iPod (after about 30 minutes). I already tried synching my iPod while this was going on and I got the same disk error message. Please, please, can anyone tell me what on earth is going on? I've NEVER had problems like this and all of a sudden it seems like everything about iTunes is a complete disaster.

I had the same problem after I moved my library from my PC to my new iMac. It would not sync properly. After a day of thinking about it, researching it, and trying things like starring at the screen to see what song it failed on as it ran the auto sync (a suggestion posted on this site), a light bulb went off. Switch it to manual! If you manually manage the songs that sync it is easy to discover what songs fail. When auto sync is managing it, it jumps all over the place when synchronizing, but if you manually grab say 500 +/- songs at a time, it goes in alphabetical order, and you can see where it fails. It will be the track(s) immediately following the the last track that made it on the iPod. The songs that were corrupted for me played fine in iTunes, but would not transfer to the iPod, and they worked when I was syncing with my PC. Hmmm? I hope this helps.

  • Please help - Jpeg photos won't transfer to 2G nano

Hello - I've recently upgraded from an ipod mini (1G) to an ipod nano (2G). I'm running firmware 1.1.1, and itunes 7.02.
Whenever I try to transfer a jpeg photo to my nano, I get an error message saying - "Some of your photos, including the photo xx.jpg, were not copied the ipod because they cannot be displayed on your iPod."
Strangely, bitmap (.bmp) files transfer across to my nano without any problem. I've tried the 5 R's but it's not solved the issue.
What could be wrong? Help me, please!!

Your sure it's one of the files mentioned here?
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304677
I'm not sure whether there's a difference between JPG and JPEG files as you mention.

  • Please Help! iPod won't play videos anymore!

I've had my 5th generation iPod for a year now and for the last 3 months I have not been able to get my videos to play. I have DVD's that I've burned as well as movies that I've downloaded. At first, only one or two wouldn't play and now I am down to only 1, out of about 20 videos that will still work.
When I try to play a video I get a black screen. I can adjust the volume and see that the video is there, but the elapsed time just stays frozen at 00:00. The only way to recover the iPod after this is to reset it by holding down the menu and select buttons. I've checked that the TV out is off and tried everything else that I can figure out to try. I have even restored the iPod and reloaded all of the content. Still, only that one video will play and all the others lock up the iPod. I've tried re-downloading the videos and ripping the DVD's again. I also tried adding new videos. The iPod syncs and the videos upload fine but when I try to play them… no luck.
Anyone else have this same problem? It's driving me crazy. Ready to go buy a Zune.

    Hello,
Only i could say, that i have the same problem with my 30Gb iPod during the last two or three months. Just after syncing my iPod i was not able to see any video. In the beginning one restart of the device was helpful and video started playing as usual. Now does not help anything: either multiple restarts of the iPod, or restoring all settings via iTunes.
Since i have encountered this problem, i have not found any answer.

  • My iPod won't transfer all of my songs in my library to my iPod

Recently my computer's hard drive crashed and I lost everything on my computer. After I got that fixed, I connected my iPod and transfered my music from it back into my iTunes music library. After I transfered the music I realized I forgot to reinstall the iPod software, so I did so. But now when I try to update my iPod not all of the songs in my library will transfer onto my iPod. Most of the ones that won't are ones that I have bought from the music store. The error message is "Some of the songs in the iTunes music library, including the song Candy Shop, were not copied to the iPod because you are not authorized to play them on this computer." Please help

How do you transfer music from the iPod to iTunes. I reformatted my computer and thought I could use the iPod as my songs backup but now I can't move them back to the computer.
