Please Help! No Audio on half of my DVD!

Hello. I created a project in iMovie. I didn't do much, just digitized my clips and imported into iDVD. Once in iDVD I created a menu and a slideshow. For the slideshow, I had it "fit to audio" with no transitions. (This is a DVD of a wedding I did) I had the wedding & reception as 1 chapter. The wedding is an hour long and the reception is apprx. 15-20mins long. When the DVD is burned and I play it in my DVD player... there is audio for all execpt the last 5 mins of the wedding. Then when the reception comes on, there is audio for about 1 min, then it goes away. This has happened on 7+ DVD's I have burned, which now have be come coasters. The audio is on the clips from iMovie. Also, on my latest burn, the audio comes in and out a few times on the slideshow. But the majority of the song is still there. Can anyone help. The people I did this for are real anxious to get this. Thank You! ~Mike

Was your camcorder set to record 16-bit audio, not 12-bit? If recorded as 12-bit, change the setting and share back to your camcorder and record as 16-bit this time. Import into a new iMovie HD project.

  • PLEASE HELP with Audio for YouTube!

    Hi,
I KNOW YouTube is not the best for quality, but I absolutely HAVE TO post a couple of videos there!
So.... having used Standard footage & the regular preset for DV-shot footage, does anyone KNOW which Encoding conversion to use (and I assume bitrate selection as well) that will allow me to post them on YouTube and actually hear something which even resembles the professionally Mastered recordings I am using.  So far I have tried WMV, h264 & a few others with various bitrates and most all of them sound horrible once YT converts them.  I was fine with the WMV video but the audio is way to disgusting to even listen to (especially compared to what the audio actually really is).  I have read some posts here suggesting FLV, WMV, etc, & I am truly at a loss and in major need of help here.  I have read Eddie's article link, & still the audio once YT does "it's thing" is ridiculous!
The audio sounds great (good enough) on my computer after Encoder does its thing, but if anyone has encountered this and has the answer....PLEASE - what conversion & WHAT BITRATE should I use to make YT NOT ruin my recordings (and sound good on there)?!?!
I even considered importing an already converted AAC or mp3 audio file into Pro, & then exporting it via Media Encoder but don't even think that's possible (or necessary).
Please help as I HAVE to post it on YT yesterday already!
As always, thank you for you help!!

I never really had problems with sound quality on youtube...but I just use stereo pcm/wav mostly in editor. I think you should post what your using in your project and what you are exporting it as...cause its too vague to really give much specific advice re: helping you. also, say whether you have any sound codec packs or anything loaded...anything other than the original program codecs...and say what version of the product you are using...premiere pro what ??

  • Please help with audio and video not syncing.

I'm using Encore 3, and have already authored a DVD a month ago without a glitch. The following are the same steps I used, but this time around, the video and audio in Encore are not syncing.
    Here's what I've done.
    1) I export my Final Cut projects to .mov using the following settings (Share > Master File).
    Format: Video and Audio
    Video codec: H.264
    Resolution: 1920x1080
Audio file format: Quicktime Movie (AAC)
    Include chapter markers: Unchecked
    Roles as: Quicktime Movie
    2) I run the .mov file in Compressor using the "Disc Burning" preset.
    3) I then import the .ac3 and .m2v files that Compressor created into Encore.
    4) In Encore, I select both files and go to New > Timeline.
In the Timeline window, the durations on both are the same. But I don't understand why the audio and video are not synced when I preview or when I burn a test DVD. The audio comes in just a tad late.
    Video Clip:
    Source In: 00;00;00;00
    Duration: 00;02;33;29
    In-Point: 00;00;00;00
    Out-Point: 00;02;33;29
    Audio Clip:
    Source In: 00;00;00;00
    Duration: 00;02;34;00
    In-Point: 00;00;00;00
    Out-Point: 00;02;34;00
What's puzzling is that two of the 10 videos I've import to Encore are synced perfectly -- same export settings from FCP, same settings Compressor.
    Please help.
    Thanks!
    Mark

    Hi Mark.
Do you have any situations where there is more than one video file in a timeline?
Secondly - why are you using H264 HD files for a DVD? This is using lossy compression to make the H264, which is in turn then scaled & even further bitrate reduced for M2V.
I would give it a try rendering an SD video file for use in Encore - not the H264 - and starting out with Dolby Digital or LPCM audio, not AAC.
As with all DVD authoring programs, Encore works best with DVD compliant assets - which you are most definitely using - but I still think you are over-complicating things by using H264/AAC at all.
    Eliminating this may help.

  • Flip4mac problem maybe please help no audio

so i tried to veiw video on the internet "plugin not available" then i remembered that i had installed flip4mac on my powerpc mac to allow it to see those files,,, so i tried it on my mbp it's the version that says it works with mbp but now i can see the videos but no audio,,, i tried alot of different videos and i get no audio anywhere, just to check that it wasn't safari i played the apple commercial videos,, those get audio great,,, but no audio with mpg, or myspace music, or anything,, please please help
ps,, i tried to find an older version of it to see if that would work,, but i couldn't find the older download,,, can i drag and drop from my ppc?

you don't want an older version of Flip4Mac - as the new 2.1 release is the only Universal Binary created to work correctly for you.
What you may want to first do, though annoying, is to reinstall Flip4Mac.
Before doing so, be sure to go to System Prefs --> Flip4Mac to make sure all of your settings are correct.
try playing with all of the features on the "plugin" menu and see what happens.

  • Please Help!  Audio off on imported .mp4 files (but fine everywhere else).

    Hello,
I am trying to trouble shoot a problem.  I am a beginner when it comes to the technical end of this so please forgive me if I don’t post the correct information.  Hopefully somebody here can help or point me in the right direction.
My problem is this:  I’m using Skype on my (windows 7 ultimate) pc to make group video calls.  I use Skype along with the program Evaer in order to record the video and audio of each person on the call separately.  It records it using the H.264/MPEG-4 AVC Codec.  At 1280 X 720 and 30fps.  The video files have the audio in them as well.  However it also records a separate .mp3 with everyones audio at 265 BitRate and 48000 SampleRate.  So after the group call (with 3 people) is finished I will have three .mp4 video files w/ audio (1 for each person on the call) and 1 .mp3 file.  If I open any of the video files in Windows Media Play they play just fine.  But when I bring the file into Adobe Premiere CS6 for editing, the audio is completely off.  What can I do to fix this?
I did “interperate footage” for the file and this is what it shows:
    File Path: F:\VIDEO RECAP\ call1.mp4
    Type: MPEG Movie
    File Size: 1.3 GB
    Image Size: 1280 x 720
    Frame Rate: 28.47
Source Audio Format: 16000 Hz - compressed - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 32000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
    Total Duration: 00;57;55;04
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0
I want to edit this in HD.  So the project setting I choose is “HDV 720p30fps”.  I import my file, and then drag it into to the time line.  It says that the sequence settings are wrong, and so I tell it to change them automatically (I have also to it to leave them) either way it doesn’t matter.  When I play back the video .mp4 in Premiere CS6 the audio is completely off.
So is there some setting I need to tweak?  Is it the project settings that are wrong?  Or could it be a problem with my graphics, and sound card?  I just dont understand why it plays fine in WMP but not in Adobe.  Any help or advice would be truly appreciated.  If you need any more info, just let me know.
    Thanks!

Is there any more info that would help you guys?  I still cant figure this out.

  • PLEASE HELP - No Audio or video on new iMac

    Hello all.
I have a new iMac. 3.5months old. Just this week it started acting up on me. I cannot play any audio or video files. itunes won't play songs, YouTube won't play videos, etc. I can't figure it out. I've tried renewing Quicktime but it says i already have the newest version installed. When i try to play youtube vids for example....i get the 'blue lego icon' with a question mark beside it.
If anybody has any insight into this than please let me know.
    Thanks
    Overly Frustrated

What software have you installed during the past week, as in shortly before the problem developed? Have you recently used Maintenance applications like Onyx, etc?
When you try to play music in iTunes and it doesn't work, exactly how does it not work? Do you get some kind of error message? Does iTune act like it is playing the music but you just can't hear it? When you examine the Sound settings under System Preferences, does anything look questionable?
Take a movie you would ordinarily play using QuickTime. Highlight the movie file and then Right click on it. Under "Open With" are you given multiple choices of applications to open the file? Do any of them work?
If you do the same thing with a Music file NOT located within iTunes, are there any applications that work?
What browser are you using to access YouTube?
Sorry, no answers. Just more questions.

  • Please help salvage audio from QT Pro recording after crash, many thanks!!!

I was audio-recording in QuickTime Pro. I forgot I had the recording running and put the computer to sleep. When I did a message came up saying that QuickTime had unexpectedly quit. I found the file that had been recording on my desktop, and the size of it suggests that the material is there. But, when I open it in QuickTime, I receive the error message:
    Error opening the movie.
The movie could not be opened.
I checked my recording preferences: it is set to Automatic
    Quality: Better (H.264)
It says beneath that the audio is 128 kbps AAC; although the file is saved with a ".mov" extension.
The only trouble-shooting I tried was at the advice of a friend which was to duplicate the file and add ".raw" as the extension and open it in Audacity. I did this and it imported the file as an MP3 but just played about 5 seconds of gibberish.
I would greatly appreciate anyone who can help me salvage this audio!!!!!

Any help or direction would be appreciated.
The first step is to determine the audio compression format. If the file loads into the QT 7 Pro Player, the check the "Format:" line in the inspector or the audio track in the "Properties" window. Once you/we know what audio compression format and/or the settings used, then it may be possible to tell the specific nature of the problem, wether or not it is normal, and how to solve the problem.

  • Please help! Audio problems...internal speakers

HI all...everytime I put headphones into my audio port, the system wont return to internal speakers once I unplug them. It stays on headphones and the built in speakers....wont work. I have to restart a number of times before it goes back.
    Any help is highly appreciated
    Kind regards
    Phil

Interesting - after not being able to figure out ANY way to get the inputted sound to come through the speakers, I went to CD Spin Doctor 2.02 (Came with Toast), since the whole point was to input an LP and burn it. I thought I'd just do it soundlessly and hope I could edit the saved file afterward.
CD Spin Doctor has an option to allow playback through the speakers. I clicked it and it streamed through perfectly.
Now, it wasn't launched during all the fuss beforehand, so it being in active use isn't an issue. BUT, I suspect that it's installed something (?) that may have led to this issue.

  • PLEASE HELP - STUTTERING AUDIO

This could be a long one so I apologize. I am building a slide show by importing/dragging photos into iMovie using various transitions between them. I have well over a hundred photos. I also adjusted the length of these pictures in iMovie. I added audio from iTunes and used iMovie to trim the audio I needed to fit the individual picture or pictures. Everything was going great until approx 20 minutes into the video - it started getting real slow when using various commands and then the recently added audio would stutter once in a while. I kept adding audio and the stuttering got much worse until NOW ALL OF THE AUDIO HAS A TERRIBLE STUTTER.
I emptied the iMovie trash, I ran Onyx to clean the computer, I ran the Activity Monitor on this Movie and a few others that work perfectly (this is the only one I'm having the audio stutter on).
Obviously I do not understand The Activity Monitor:
Movie with stuttering audio = (31 minutes - 7 GB), many transitions, photos and audio pieces (audio on both tracks) (all worked great for a while).
CPU= 16% at idle AND 165% running (how do you use 165% of the CPU???
REAL MEMORY= 185 MB at idle AND 187 MB running
VIRTUAL MEMORY= 514 MB AT IDLE AND 598-854 MB RUNNING
These next Activity Monitor stats are from a very comparable iMovie that works perfectly.
Movie with great audio = (33 minutes - 6.7 GB)
CPU= 16% at idle AND 115% running (again how do I use 115% of CPU??)
REAL MEMORY- 176 MB at idle AND 197 MB running
Virtual Memory= 504 MB at idle AND 540 MB running
    OS 10.4.10 - Dual 1.42 GHZ - 1 GB DDR SDRAM - IMovie HD
I sure hope you can help - I have many, many, many hours into this project that I want to show at my 50th High School Reunion.
    Thanks
    Wally

First, you are probably not doing anything wrong, nor is your computer malfunctioning.
This is a well-known problem, usually having to do with the type and amount of audio that you are adding. Karl Petersen has taken the time to offer a variety of work-around options.
See this very long thread for more information to assist you. Read and heed anything Karl has posted:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=534252&start=0&tstart=0
If you are nearly finished with the editing except for adding audio, and if you have the drive space, you can 'share' the movie as QuickTime, Full Quality. After the quicktime movie has been created, open a new iMovie project and import that quicktime movie into it. You can then add audio and you should not have much stuttering. The movie will be all one long clip incorporating all the tracks from your original movie. You CAN do more editing, but it is a bit more complicated.
Also, for me, even if my movies have audio skipping/stuttering, and even video stuttering, the resultant burned DVD has always come out fine.
You can also 'share' the movie back to your camcorder and reimport it into a new iMovie project.

  • Someone please help this Audio Shuttering is driving me crazy.

Everytime I listen to music or watch video on my Satelite L655-S5083 the audio and video shutter and a loud buzzing sound happens.  It doesn't matter if its streaming from the internet or already on the computer via hard drive or CD/DVD the buzzing and shuttering happens in both senarios.  According to the computer the audio and display drivers are up to date and performing properly. Any ideas out there...Peter....anyone?

You should only be using the drivers from your model's Toshiba download site. Toshiba laptops are notoriously finicky about using only Toshiba supplied hardware drivers. For this reason, I recommend disabling automatic updates and only doing manual updates. Click on 'Start - All Programs - Windows Update', on the menu at left click on 'Change settings', under 'Important updates' click on the drop down menu at right, choose 'Never check for updates (not recommended)', and click 'OK'. Then only do manual updates, check them very carefully, and never let Windows Update change any hardware drivers. Though you should still regularly check for updates.
Next, let's try to reinstall your core set of drivers. Download these drivers to your desktop and double click to install them in this order:
    Intel Chipset SW Installation Utility
    Intel Display Driver
    Conexant Audio Driver
Please let us know if this resolves your problem.

  • Please help with audio problems, thanks!

Hi, I'm relatively new to DVD studio Pro and so far the manual has been useful but i've run into some sound related problems. I'm a composer/sound designer and this DVD is to be my reel so these are fairly integral issues to its success.
First, I want to add a sound effect to each of the roll over states, so one sound for the "over" and one sound for the "down" state. Currently i can only add audio as the backing track for each menu.
Second, whilst most of the items on the dvd are movies that include my music, I also want to have a page purely of audio tracks which play when pressed without changing the page. How can i do this? The only DVD i've seen this done on is "The Thin Red Line" extras, promoting the soundtrack to the film.
    Thanks.

    Welcome to the forum/discussions CC!
Sorry to have to inform you, but unfortunately layered menus aren't supporterd with audio in DVDSP, and technically what you're attempting is a layered menu-type function - although it just may be possible with scripts, I doubt it.
Your second request can be done however and there's several ways to go about doing it.
I like DVD@ccess but others would recommend a method of simply placing the audio files in the built file of the DVD making them accessible to users.
Another method I could suggest is to make a menu page exactly like the one you want to look the same and have the song you'd like to play as the music track for that duplicated-menu in question - set the target of the link for the song in the menu to go to the menu that has that song as the music track. Repeat that for the number of songs you'd like to have this feature.

  • Please help- M-audio mic nova and fast track usb not working

    Hi All,
I just purchased a m-audio nova microphone and the fast track usb interface. I was hoping to use this to record overhead voice. However, it doesn't seem to work. I plugged in a regular microphone in both the mic and guitar input and it seemed to work. Am I missing something? I have set audio-in to fast track in both systems preference and garageband preference. The output remained built-in because my speakers are plugged into my desktop. I also tried output using the fasttrack and plugged my speakers into the fast track's interface and the my old microphone also worked ok. Is it my newly purchased m-audio nova microphone that is not working?
    Thanks.

Sorry about that, the regular mic is not the m-audio, it has an on/off switch. I am not familiar with audio gear terms, I apologize that. When I plug this mic in, it works in both the guitar input and the mic input on the usb interface (m-audio fast track). I can also plug this mic into a guitar amp. I hope that makes sense. Even when I plug it into my G5, it works, although I use an adaptor for the plug (same size as a headphone jack).

  • Please Help: HD Audio drivers not installing

I have a MSI 790X-G45 mobo and I just installed a MSI N460GTX 768MB Cyclone and it runs great but after making the install I see four cases of Other Devices/Unknown Device in Device manager. When I open one of them, it shows as " Location65535 Internal High Definition Audio " and when I open it further it says:
    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10DE&DEV_0012&SUBSYS_10DE0101&REV_1001\4&25E4073B&0&0001
I re-installed the motherboard Audio drivers but to no avail. I'm using a Creative Audigy 2 PCI card. This Unknow Device wasn't there before I installed the graphics card.
    What's the fix?
    Thanks fo rany input ...

  • Please help with basic guidance on editing a DVD on my iMac

I am trying to transfer old VHS tapes of my grandchildren onto DVDs. Currently, I am using a Sony Video Cassette Recorder/DVD Recorder model RDR-VX530 for the dubbing. What I want to know is how to edit a completed DVD (DVD-RW or DVD-R) on my iMac. I have never even tried this and am not sure how to even begin or what is possible.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Shouldn't this person be able to put it to DVD. Load it, and using iMovie to download the movie? There they can mess around with it, and re-burn it to disk?
Personally, I use a media converter. I've convert VHS, Laser Disks, and other things like 8 tracks, and cassettes. My media converter is a Sony. You can find them on eBay. Just search Sony Media Converter. I love this unit, and I will never get rid of it. I have had to buy Adapters (For the newer iMac) from time to time but, it's worth it.

  • Please Help me..... DVD drive not detected, Vista home basic 32 bit

    Hi,
I have a compaq presario v3702au laptop with Vista basic 32 bit OS.
The dvd drive has suddenly vanished and is not detect by device manager. It show up in the BIOS and brifly powers up while booting(tray comes out on pressing the button) , but does not recieve power once booted( tray does not come out on pressing the button).
there are no upper and lower filters present so this remedy is not for me, ms fixit tool also could not help as it could not find any optical drive.
The hardware itself seems to be alright because if I press F8 to get to boot options ( Safe mode, etc) and insert a disc , the drive tries read it (ie. Drive receives power, tray opens and the disc also spins), but once the boot starts the dvd button becomes non functional as if it is not receiving power.
I really need my optical drive and would greatly appreciate any help on this .
    Thanks in advance,
    Sankr

So does it fully boot from the optical drive? All the other symptoms you describe are fully consistent with a dead drive, but if you can boot to a bootable disk then the drive is OK
