Please help on software update

when updating device software do i remove the phone battery? or i leave the battery in the phone. Please attend quickly. Am currently updating my software and i remove the battery. I dont know if that will cause a major problem

I just signed on this afternoon. I do not believe you need to remove the battery to activate an upgrade or installation. Your phone may reboot to activate, but you don't need to remove the battery to reboot.

    If you are using iOS 4 (or earlier) there is no Software Update in Settings. That feature was first added in iOS 5.
    To update you will have to connect your iPad to iTunes on a computer (preferably the one you sync with and backup to).

    Sounds like your phone was hacked to use with your carrier.  Updating it has relocked the phone to it's original carrier.  You will not get the phone working again without a SIM from the original carrier.

    I'm having the identical problem on my iPhone 4 after upgrading to IOS 7--no ability to update apps or download new apps.  Here is what Apple tech support emailed to me:
    I understand that you are unable to download or update applications after updating iOS7 on your iTunes. I know you must be eager to get this resolved and I will be happy to help you today.
    ... to help you better with this issue I would request you to please try this steps given below to resolve your issue.
    Please follow this steps:
    1) Double tap the home button
    2) Hold down on an icon
    3) Tap the red "X" on iTunes, and the App Store.
    4) Tap Settings > Store > Tap your Apple ID, and choose sign out
    5) Tap Settings
    6) Tap General
    7) Tap Reset
    8) Tap Network Settings
    Once it has been closed with multi-tasking, and you have rebooted the device in the network settings reset, please sign in, and try again. 
      Howevr, if you are facing the same issue than for this issue, you may need to call our AppleCare technical support team. A technical Advisor will be able to tell you about Apple's complimentary and fee-based support.     Mildly amusing that the instructions for force-closing a program are the IOS 6 instructions, which do not work on IOS 7. 
    Otherwise I'm having a little success with this.  Some apps (not all) are updating. It seems that a few more apps update each time I go through the process (close everything, sign out, and either reset or reboot, then go to the app store, sign in and try to update all).  So far it has been a very lengthy, iterative process.

    To answer the post title FireFox save all downloads automatically in the download folder, which you can find in the Documents folder. If you want to choose where to save your downloads go to tools>options>check always ask me where to save files.
    Secondly, I am assuming you have IE 8 installed as this is the only version that supports this fix that is currently not in beta. Go to control panel>internet options>advanced tab and reset the settings at the bottom. This may or may not fix the problem but it is a good first step.

    try goind to apple, support, type keynote update in the search box and download the version you need.
    Also one or more of your third party apps could be the prolem. You can try uninstalling them one at a time till the download goes, then re-install them.
    Make a back up FIRST!

    I installed mackeeper on my new mac, I know very stupid of me, and now i have uninstalled it but i can't update my software any more. I run the updater and after dowloading, the system restarts and then starts to install the items. But mid way it stops and says it was interupted and cannot complete the installation.     As an iPhone user myself, I know it must be very much a problem to have the phone out of service because of an error such as you are seeing. Let's see if we can get you back up and running.

    You cannot do it yourself. You have to take the phone to a Nokia service center for the software up-date / re-installation. Good luck !

    Ok, i did a wireless update to my curve 8530, after the update the phone was not working properly, so i reloaded original software, the latest on desktop software. Halfway throgh the update, my phone rebooted and the screen turned white and it sayed APP ERROR 523/reset, i clicked reset and it keeps hapenning please help!!!!!!!!!

  • Need help on software update

    My powerbook G4 is version OS 10.3.9, I tried to update to version 10.4, I've used the software update and installed it. I also have rebooted my computer, but when I checked it again, the version still says version 10.3.9. Is it not possible to update from 10.3.9 to 10.4 on powerbook G4? Or is there any other way to update it? I checked back to software update, and the version 10.4 is not stated there anymore, so I assume it should already be installed? I'm confused. Please help.     Here is some additional information and some possible repetition.
    I don't understand how there could have been an update for Tiger 10.4.x, in Software Update, if you are not already running 10.4.x.
    Mac OS X Versions 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, and 10.4, are complete system upgrades that must be purchased.
    The point upgrades, such as 10.1.x to 10.1.5 (Final) 10.2.x to 10.2.8 (Final), 10.3.x to 10.3.9 (Final), and 10.4.x to 10.4.8 (Pending), can be downloaded for free.
    Tiger is available for purchase at The Apple Store (U.S.).
    A Full Retail Version, of the Tiger Install DVD, can also be purchased rather inexpensively, at some online Apple retailers, Amazon, eBay, AppleRescue, FastMac, etc.
    Be sure not to purchase grey, upgrade or machine specific CDs or DVDs.

  • Please help!  Security update disaster!

    Hello,
    I have read about the security update doing some ill things to peoples macs with their networks and such but mine seems a little stranger.
    After updating to the most recent security update, my mac restarted and had a "aqua" screen for almost 30 mins. With nothing else on the screen, i grew inpatient and restarted by pushing the power button for a few seconds. It restarted to an all black screen saying something about 'darwin kernel'. it asked for a login and password, but in an all black screen (think DOS). after trying different incorrect attempts it restarted and now I have to log in as fast as I can because the login screen only stays up for a few seconds before it dissapears. After I log in, the log in screen never goes away it constantly states that it is still logging in. The login screen is on top of everything and won't go away and cannot be covered.
    Everytime I restart I am asked to enter a password to get back on my wireless network. Also, my disk utility does not start up. it tries but it unexpectedly quits. I get a crash report that says ( exception: EXCBADACCESS (0X0001) CODES: KERNPROTECTIOINFAILURE (0X0002) AT 0X0000001c
    it seems like the rest of my programs work and my info is still here.

    The best thing would be to run Repair Disk from your Install Disk.
    The startup drive can only be repaired from another drive. Simply loading the install disk is not sufficient. You have to boot from the install disk.
    To do this: Insert the Install Disk 1 into the drive and then select Restart, then continue to hold down the C key until the Apple logo appears.
    This will take you to the installation software, but you do not want to install.
    Select your language, then go up to the top menu bar to Utilities and navigate to the Disk Utilities application.
    Select the start up drive, then follow the instructions in the First Aid pane where you can click on Repair Disk.
    If it finds errors, repeat the process until it reports no errors.
    After these repairs, quit the application, and restart normally.
    Once restarted normally run Repair Permissions. from the Disk Utility application found on your hard drive in Application/Utilities.

    The 9300 was discontinues long before the Software Updater was launched, which is why it was never included for home updates. The only wayto have your software updated is at a Nokia service point.
    Viruses for Symbian devices are very, very rare so it is unlikely that your issue is caused by a virus. What you might do is make a backup of your phonje data with PC Suite, then hard reset the device. This is complicated to do - you need remove the battery, then reinsert it with the shift, control and F keys held down - this forces a hard reset of the device.
    When you restore your phone data, leave out Settings and any items that you don't use in case anything in the phone data was is causing your issue. Sometimes, it might simply be corrupt data causing the issue.
