Please help, oracle 8i on windows xp?

Can oracle 8i run on windows xp?
When I tried to run setup, it did abolutely nothing. I can't find any information on oracle's web site about this and the only relevant forum post that I found was by someone that was having the exact same problem, but no one answered him.

I'm trying to install Oracle 8i on Windows-xp
Professional. it gets installed but runs only once.
that means its fails to run once I shut down the
system and restart & shows the message-"oracle not
found" or "tns server is not found". Can anybody

I've found that Oracle tends to survive well when installed on a supported platform which is upgraded, but there are usually issues when attempting a fresh install on a newer platform.
Your problem states "Oracle Not Found". Therefore your OS services know that they should be attempting to connect to an Oracle database but the database is 'not found'. Further, it says that the TNS Server is not found. TNS is Oracle's term for 'on the network'.
Is there a business reason that requires you to run obsolete software? If the database software MUST be obsolete, what is the logic behind upgrading the operating system? (In other words - why only upgrade one?)
You need to check the following things:
1) You have a static IP address and host name, and are NOT using DHCP;
(look at or post the result of command line "ipconfig /all")
2) Check whether the Oracle database service and the listener service are running;
(Under "Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administration Tools > Service" or command line services.msc)
3) Tell us how well the listener is running;
(Command line "lsnrctl status")

Please Help! Problems with Windows Vista 32-bit on Boot Camp (Wireless/Etc)

We recently purchased a new aluminum Mac Book (13 inch) with Leopard (10.5.4). I attempted to install Boot Camp and Windows Vista 32-bit. I can successfully alternate between both operating systems with no problems. However, I am having 2 problems:
1) I cannot connect to wireless internet. No connections will even show up when I attempt to connect, its almost as if an adapter hasn't been installed.
2) I cannot set up the trackpad to do right click.
I've read articles everywhere and nothing has helped. Can anybody please help me??? Any support/advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the Apple discussions.
It appears that you may not have installed the boot camp drivers. Boot into Windows and insert your Leopard installation disk in the CD/DVD drive. This should automatically begin installation of the necessary drivers. Reboot the computer when instructed and all the hardware should work as designed.
The right click is accomplished by placing two fingers on the trackpad and then depressing the trackpad button. This should also work after the drivers are installed as instructed above.

Please help, I am running Windows 7 Home Premium and have problems with loading FLASH Player

Everytime I attempt to load Adobe Flash Player, it says it is installing but then I get a screen that say, must close Internet Explorer, which I do, then the down load continues. It eventually takes me to a window that is for Adobe Photoshop Elements 11, it loads a trial version and then eventually it says Flash Player successfully Installed.
When I go to open a web video, it says, you must have Flash Player installed to view this video. Which when i click on the Adobe download link, it takes me back through the same loop with the same results. Seaching in my programs it does not show Adobe Flash Player loaded, only the 32 bit version, which I am still unable to view web videos with>>>>
What is going on here? Do I need to download something additional to correctly install Adobe Flash Player? Please Help, Thanks in advance for your response and recommendations!

Thanks for reply... But when i am trying clean install of windows 8pro 64 it says dat u can only upgrade it from the previous versions of windows ... As i told that i got an upgrade pack of windows 8pro ... Soo how can i install it directly ???

PLEASE HELP. I have Windows 7 on my laptop and I am using firefox 11. Firefox has been doing good since I downloaded it but not as of today.

Firefox is running very slow and keep's saying not responding for 3 seconds and then does it again repeatedly. I doubt if the recent windows updates has anything to do with your rear speakers. I have all the recent updates and my speakers are working fine. you could go the Add/Remove program and uninstall the updates. Then you would know for sure if that caused the problem.

Hi Shahbaz,
If you are trying to logon to Applications GUI and system gives you an error 'Invalid Username/Password' that means the Username and Password does not match. Create (In case User Name does not exist)/Reset the password for user you are trying to logon with.
Else if you are using oracle back end username password to populate some interface tables you need to find out password for "apps" or any other oracle user that you DBA might have created.

First of all I’m really sorry if I’ve posted this question on wrong thread. I am unable to get any category related to Oracle Apps.
If there is any particular thread concerned to Oracle Apps then please let me know.
My senior has asked me few question related to oracle application:-
Q1 – What happens when we connect Oracle Apps through URL . How the URL connects it to apps. What are all background process to do so . Names with their workings. (Start level from the first login page)
Q2 – What are JSP, APACHE & HTML in Oracle. How do jsp, apache and html pages related to oracle apps connection. How do they work.
Q3 – What happens if the oracle apps page is not connecting, hangs or shows blank screen. How will you solve the same.
Q4 – what are in folder 10.1.2 and 10.1.3. What are they meant for and how do they work.
Q5 – What is the difference between Oracle home for 10g RDBMS / oAS 10.1.2 ORACLE HOME / oAS 10.1.3 ORACLE HOME and their contents.
Q6 – What are in Instance top and their uses.
Q7 – Complete Oracle apps architecture and its complete descriptions with workings.
I will be very grateful for any help in this case.

As you can see You need to start to read concept guide. All your question answer is there. I can answer your question but it will not help you. If you inerested to become app dba you must know concept, component of ebs and their relation. Those topic cover in concept guide

PLEASE HELP! ACTIVATION ON WINDOWS 8 PROBLEM

I've got a big problem with my brand new G580 (20150). To start with, the first thing I've done after unpacking the laptop was formatting the whole HDD in case of installing the clean Windows 8 Pro without any bundled Lenovo applications. Fortunately, the whole installation proccess came with no issue. Then, I've installed the whole lot of drivers which made me glad about working of my new Lenovo. I've configured all just like I wanted it to be, and then unfortunately Activation issue started... I thought that it should come slightly, but I was wrong. The "0x8007232b" problem has met me, which I tried to solve with "slmgr -ipk ...." on cmd.exe. As you can speculate, this one gone wrong. I tried some combinations of stating the product code once again, including the "slui 3" method, but they haven't met the solution neither. Then, I tried "slui 4" which is for telephone activation. This one, to my surprise could only come through the "Afghanistan" option... I picked the number from my another computer and tried to activate it.
And then... I saw a communicate that thrilled the hell out of me - saying that my copy of Windows 8 is pirate!
What should I do now? I will really appreciate your help, as I don't know what to do for real, friends.

I have got a chance to work in Oracle 10g in the firm where i work.
This is the first time i am working directly Oracle stuff,even though i have experience in a other Database query language fully internally developed.
***I intend to study and clear the OCP and I am in need of guidance as to which course I should take.So need your advise that how much time does it usually take to master the features we have in Oracle 10g.I know its very huge.
***Also,could you please suggest some good training institutes for ORACLE 10g who don't charge much(I am sorry ...but I cant afford much.) .I stay in BANASWADI area,bangalore.
I am looking for a place in this same area so that i can attend weekend classes because weekdays i am whole day out of home.

I am attempting to install the DBconsole Service and when I run the Installation Batch file

Did you set the ORACLE_SID and ORACLE_HOME variables before running emca ?

The computer then shut down then came up with the message No bootable device---insert boot disk and press any key. I have inserted the disk and nothing is happening. Any ideas?

Bootcamp will support your MacBook Pro, and 32 bit versions of windows 7 for sure. To find out if you can run 64 bit versions go through the boot camp assistant on your mac, partition the disk, and it will list compatible operating systems. Windows 7 will still work even if it's not there.
You can find the type of ram by going to About This Mac in the Apple menu and clicking on More Info…
Your hard drive will be 2.5" sata drive, though I'm not sure if it's user replaceable on that generation. My friend has a similar one and I think only the ram and battery can be changed on his. Good luck!
