Please help. Photoshop isn't displaying colors correctly after new monitor/calibration

When I open JPEGS or RAW images in photoshop they have a dull, flat color to them. This is happening after recently buying a NEW PA271W wide-gamut display and calibrating it using Spectraview 2. It doesn't matter whether I have the Working Space in PS set to Adobe RGB or sRGB under color settings... The only way I can make my image look normal is to go under settings and ASSIGN PROFILE to Adobe RGB. It looks fine then. I could live with that, except the bigger problem is that I begin my editing process in RAW, where the colors are also looking flat. The best I can tell, there is no way to assign a profile at this stage... and I don't even know if that would help.
I've been working in photoshop many years and I do know that RAW images have a 'flatter' appearance to being with, but this is something completely different. For example, when I slide photoshop onto my other monitor next to it (I have multiple monitors) - the color reverts to the normal color I want . And if I then slide photoshop back onto my new NEC monitor, the normal color actually stays intact for about two seconds, then reverts back to the dull color. So I am unable to begin my work process in RAW since the colors are wrong. Also, I know that my new monitor is capbable of displaying my images in their proper colors because when I use any of several different image viewers I have - irfanview, etc. - everything is fine. It's only in photoshop. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Chance. Oh, and I have CS5 and I'm using Windows 7.

What you're describing sounds like your display profile is incorrect.
Don't mess with the working space, don't assign profiles -- just fix the display profile.

Albums is a way or sorting photos. Photos aren't moved from the Camera roll. The Camera Roll consists of all the photos on the phone. If you delete from Camera Roll they are deleted everywhere but Photo Stream.
Are you using Photo Stream? Your photos, providing they wer recent should still be in Photo Stream. If you have Photo Stream set up on your computer they should all be there.

27" LED Display Color Correction

I can't find any information no whether this display is able to be calibrated for color correction. I recently purchased one and one of our Color Correction vendors told us this display was not capable.

The answer is yes. I assume you mean using a calibration hardware and software device like an EyeOnedisplayTwo. That device can also calibrate luminance which sets it apart from some calibration devices. I calibrate my ACD, 27" iMac and my new LED Apple monitor with this to the same "settings" as I use these with Photoshop and Lightroom (the iMac is a standalone - the ACD and LED run in dual mode off a MacPro) Not sure what those people are talking about.

New monitor/calibration; now colors won't display correctly in ACR and Elements

Just got a new ASUS LCD monitor, and calibrated it with the Spyder 3 Express.
Now when I open a .CR2 file using Elements to edit the RAW image, the color is displayed as yellowy-gray and dull. It looks the same when I pull it into Elements 7, unless I remove all color management (which, if I save the image, actually then renders the image colors neon and oversaturated with lots of pink and red tones).
I also use Lightroom 3 and I am having the same problem there. Upon import of either an edited Jpeg or a .CR2 RAW file, the color in Lightroom is displayed as dull, grayish yellowy-green.
If I export and view the very same image in GIMP, Picasa or on the web, as long as the colorspace is intact (sRGB), the color is accurate. Not so in Elements or Lightroom.
If you have experience with this problem is it the monitor, the calibration, or Elements and Lightroom. I am beyond frustrated and need to see my colors properly. I have not had this problem before.

I don't use Spyder to calibrate my monitor; instead, I use the software and tool that X-Rite makes and it came with my NEC wide-gamut monitor. I suspect that the tools are similar.
First, make certain that you're using your Spyder spectrometer and the accompanying software correctly. Although I consider myself relatively computer saavy, I find that I have to follow the instructions carefully.
Then, calibrate your monitor so that the colors and brightness the monitor displays are correct for your printer setup. In my case, the tool uses ICC color standards to set the colors. And, I tell it I want the monitor's brightness to be 90 candelas per square meter (cd/m2), which is about the same brightness as a blank white piece of photo paper. With the monitor brightness set at 90 cd/m2, I avoid getting prints that are too dark. If you calibrate the monitor correctly, the colors should look good and you should have a white that looks white and a black that looks black - that is, you shouldn't have any colors that don't look right.
Second, when you use Elements (PSE) or Lightroom (LR) to print, be sure to indicate that you want PSE or LR to control the colors and not the printer. It's very important, too, that you have the correct printer-paper profiles downloaded into the printer driver and that you select the correct paper profile. I have an Epson 3880 printer and I use Epson papers (mostly); so, I tell PSE to use the profile that fits the paper I'm using - for example, Epson Premium Glossy. When I downloaded the printer driver into my computer, it also downloaded the Epson paper-printer profiles and they appear in the print dialog boxes used during the printing process. (Other paper manufacturers, such as Ilford, make profiles available for downloading on their website.)

What are my options regarding color correction for a new 13" Retina MBP and Thunderbolt display using Spyder color calibration system, or equivalent? Really important I nail that down before purchasing.

My kid was playing around with my mac and now the display looks like it's a comic book and i can hardly makeout some letters when i browse and do my research. I've tried everything... ( I tried to check the display settings under system preferences and still nothing... my final solution was to create another user with admin rights and it looks good there but i need all the files from the other user)
To me, all the settings on the new user and the original are the same but the original looks like a comic book.
please help me on this... anybody... please!!!!

I am currently editing DVCAM and DVCPRO NTSC and HD content using Final Cut Pro 5. For the most part, I am monitoring the color correction process using three monitors: an Apple LCD monitor, a Sony CRT computer monitor, and a FireWire-output to a DVCAM deck, which is then sending S-Video to an upconverting Sony 1080i CRT Television.
The Sony 1080i CRT Television has been carefully calibrated to look like a best-case "consumer" monitor using the THX Optimizer DVD as well as some other off-the-shelf DVD calibration tools. It HAS NOT been ISF-Certified, but that's ok in my opinion, since I produce DVDs that are viewed primarily on consumer TVs without ANY calibration (sad, but true).
My question is this: between my CRT TV, CRT Monitor, and LCD Monitor, my colors are totally inconsistent. I have noticed that in the Apple System Preferences, I can select from a variety of color profiles for the computer displays, including various versions of RGB, NTSC (1953) and SMPTE-C. Does anyone know which of these profiles, if any, I should assign to my various monitors? I've especially noticed the difference between the LCD and the CRT displays, and I'm wondering if there is some way to compensate for this.

Not the answer you want, but, the easiest and best solution is to simply ignore the colour on all but your television monitor.

What is the context you're asking these questions in? Are these interview questions? Homework questions? Or is there some underlying business problem you're trying to solve?

HELP! How do i color correct an area of a video?

Im new to after effects cs4. I made a time lapse video of the sky. However, the sky is to bright and you can't really see the clouds very well. I would like to change the 'levels' of the sky, but not the buildings at the bottom of the video. So only half of the video will have colour correction on it. How do i do this???? Thanks!

The gist is simple:
Create an adjustment layer.
Draw a mask on the adjustment layer.
Apply the color-correction effect to the adjustment layer.
The devil is in the details. For example, if you need to animate the mask, you may have some rotoscoping to do.

Please help, iMac's bad display

I'm buying a computer for school in the next two months and I really need some help. I have been set on the 20in 2.4 Ghz iMac and now im reading so much on the screen quality and it being washed out towards the bottom. So now i dont know what to do, how severe the problem is, if it's being fixed, and what people are doing about it that have already bought these affected models. I made an account on apple.com just to ask this question so please help me. I dont want to have to buy a macbook justto have a better screen and I cant afford a macbook pro.

They're not doing anything. Another guy here on the boards has all but been in contact with the iMac engineering group and was basically told that it was "within specification." In engineering speak that means roughly, "you are S-O-L." They're not fixing it until at least the next revision.

I've experienced this behavior before. Sometimes confusing. Sometimes stuck in a sleep mode. I've opened my Air and the computer would not wake up.
You have not given much information.
So simple things first.
Have you ever booted this computer? You said your, "new mac air".
If yes, what status was it in the last time you left it?
Meaning, Did you shut it down or did you put it to sleep?
If you put it to sleep, how did you put it to sleep? By a menu dialog or by closing the computer?
Other things to be sure are done....
Is your power supply connected to the MacBook Air?
Is the wall outlet you have connected your power supply to interupptable by a light switch?
Is the mag connector communicating with the battery?... meaning, on the mag(netic) connector do you see the LED lit?
The mag connector is the part of the power supply that connects to the computer.
What color is the LED, orange or green? (respectively...charging or full charge)
Cannot direct you to a solution without knowing these few things.

FCP keeps freezing, when performing color correction on new macbook pro

I'm trying to do some color correction on a couple of videos. No problems doing this, until I try to render them: sometimes it'll do the job just fine, but more than often it just gets stuck about halfway through rendering, and everything freezes up. I tried using a seperate hard drive instead of the standard hard drive in my macbook pro, but this did not seem to help things.. Any other advice?

PLEASE HELP!! Weird screen glitch in After Effects CS5.5?!? (Windows 7)

I was editing some videos in the trial of After Effects CS5.5, and I went to render something in full screen (I've been using it for two weeks now, and i've rendered in full screen before) and suddenly a bunch of error messages started popping up,and After Effects closed out. Now every time I open After Effects, its like the screen zooms in: I can't see my taskbar or my tools for after effects, or anything on the edges at all. Production Premiere and everything else works fine, but After Effects is always like this now. I've searched all the help centers, and google, and youtube, and I've found nothing. I also tried unistalling and reinstalling the Master Collection trial but it still came up in full screen.
PLEASE HELP I only have 12 days left on trial and I'm trying to finish one last video.

Try deleting your preferences. If that doesn't do it, Reboot, Use the Adobe Cleaner Tool, then re-install AE. If that doesn't work let us know. It's probably your preferences.

Ok so I'll go through EXACTLY what has happened to my laptop in the past day.. please note that the laptop was NEVER moved from the desk while this has all happened. Also a couple other things you should know.. I had Applecare, but 6 months ago when i sent it in to replace the harddrive -- they said they found some water damage, and it would cost $700 to replace... so i just put in the harddrive myself for $50, and it has worked fine since... So I'm pretty sure I can't turn to Applecare anymore...

Yesterday
One of my memory sticks went bad on me... (i had 2- 1gig sticks.) I took the bad one out, and the computer seemed to run fine on the single stick of memory.
Last night
I started to install leopard as an update over 10.4, seemed to work fine, though it was slow -- and finally i got to the leopard installation complete thing (please reboot the computer)... so I did...
It starts loading up... shows the mac symbol with the loading circle thing... but wait, Oh ****, i was probally was supposed to take out the cd... So i turn off the macbook by holding down the power button... and I eject the cd, and then try to start it up...
Not loading... ****.
So after some mulling i decide, alright -- i'll reinstall again...
I boot to the cd drive, choose my options, start the install, and go to sleep..
This Morning
I wake up.. the install hasn't moved at all... It's still at the same place where i left it..
****... so again I manually shut it off, and try and restart to boot from the CD again..
NO GO....
If I hold down C to boot from DVD
The computer attempts to read the disk.. CD drive seems to power down.. then try again.. Then it ejects the cd, and goes to the Apple logo with the spinning circle, but never loads. I've tried it with My old 10.4 disk, and the new leopard disk. Same result on both. neither disk seems scratched either.
If I just boot up regular
It goes to the apple logo with spinning circle.
SOOOO...
I tried resetting the PMU, and PRAM
Is it likely that it is my superdrive gone bad, at a horrible time? If so I guess i'll just buy one on eBay and replace it myself. Is there any way to test it?
Could there by another problem wrong with it?
Please help me troubleshoot this! I'd be very appreciative -- I'm a poor college Computer science student that needs his computer to work for his classes.

Yes. You need the two RAM modules, or at the very least the remaining one RAM module must be for sure securely seated. If not securely seated with only one module, the result is as you've seen.

No, not necessary. After that, the very delayed loading was totally normal, sounds as if you were just impatient.

Oh, and check the AppleCare agreement, as to the best of my recollection, you can should be able to get a refund, pro-rated for time left.
Check how full your hard drive is now. I'm not clear if you've yet erased your HD or how many systems you've installed - if not erased perhaps it's full up.
A PRAM reset should allow you to boot from the install disc, access the Install Discs's System Profiler, and see what things look like. Also, you should be able to boot to the Apple Hardware Test - while you do need a working optical drive to do so, you don't need any hard drive at all, and it doesn't sound like either one has been lost.
