Hi Users,
I have a requirement from my client.
Current situation is that we have data load happening from flat files to R/3 Tables and then we Universe as SEMANTIC layer on these tables on which we have build WEBI reports.
Now Client wants to build Infocube and move all data from Z tables to Infocube and then directly connect cube to WEBI an build reports without universe as semantic layer anymore.
So the question is:
1. Will old reports be affected in any which ways? and what is the solution to avoid the impacts?
2. Will there be any problem if navigational attributes being used?
3. Can same hierarchies logic of objects and classes which were built at univers level be implemented at cube level?
3. any functionalities of universe which cannot be implemented at cube level?
Please suggest the impacts and what is best to do.

So you are saying :
1) we have old reports which work well to r/3
2) we are going to create new reports based on bw
To answer your (1) - ??? if you are not touching the orginal report, universe, datasource etc - then NO of course not.
2. what problems are you expecting? maybe best to try.
3) hierarchies in BI4.0 direct connection will require a BEx Query . Hierarchies are modelled in RSH1 in BW.
4) delegate as much KF calculation to the Cube, delegate the most functonality to the BEx query, and use webi for presentation and formatting.

Excel Download of a Web SAP BW Report asks userid and password.please help

Dear BW folks,
Issue: When I run a specific SAP BW Report from Web and download the same into excel & csv.
When I open the excel file downloaded, it asks me user name and password to enter. csv file downloaded doesn't ask.
The report has 0cust_sales hierarchy and SBU hierarchy.
Is there any thing to do with these hierarchies that the excel download is asking user name and password?
Please help me out!!!!! This report needs to be downloaded into excel sent to my manager.....

I have done my B.Tech(Computer science and Engg) and have 3 yrs experience in Development in .net PLATFORM. But currently I am planning to change my career to SAP and so I have done my research in the SAP modules,as per my previous background I could see that BI,HANA, MM, SD, ABAP, BASIC and if something is missing please let me know as the best modules for the long term career and please also help- me in saying the best suitable module requirement and in the future i can have growth.
SO could anyone suggest me which module is best for the career and have good job opportunities in the market to settle down.

Am trying to execute the first sample assignment which is given on http://service.sap.com/connectors site.
Am using .NET Connector 2.0.1 instead of .NET Connector 1.0
Have followed all the steps as mentioned in the tutor but am getting this error:
" SAP.Connector.RfcException: Missing R3NAME=... or ASHOST=... in connect_param in RfcOpenEx at SAP.Connector.Connection.Open() at SAP.Connector.SAPLoginProvider.OpenSAPConnection(Page p, String connstr, Boolean persist) at Test_RFC1.SAPLogin1.Login_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\test_rfc1\saplogin1.aspx.cs:line 97 "
As mentioned in the tutor we need to just mention the Applciation Host & System Number in the destination object & its configured under Custom Setting & not under SAPLOGON.INI.
To resolve this problem, I tried entering the MsgServerHost & SAPSystemName as well but am still getting the same error.
Please help.....

It seems that you have configured your destinaton1 to use "10.10.18.204" as Message Server and "PUBLIC" as logon group. The message server answers: "Group PUBLIC not found".
Please check the load balancing settings of your SAP system if it supports load balancing at all and what groups exist.
If "destination1" is a SAPLogonDestination, please check if the corresponding destination in SAPLOGON works.

This thing has been discussed many times. This is not advisable that you take loan for starting your career in SAP until and unless you have hundred percent job surety which is almost impossible. You have to sacrifice your prior non IT related experience. When you start career in SAP you start from scratch. i'm working with IBM maximo and sap netweaver integration. I need to import 2 files in Netweaver. I''m not good in sap so please tell me how to do this step by step.
this text from guide for integration this two systems----

Subhash has listed exactly what you need.
Since you say that you are u201Cnot good in sapu201D, I wanted to clarify.
Only the R file (R900030.D04) needs to be copied to the ../data directory.
Only the K file (K900030.D04 needs to be copied to the ../cofiles directory.
(Copying both files to both directories will work as well.)
The request would be added to the STMS queue as:
D04K900030
