Please help to get rid of this strange rectangle appearing on interface!

Hi, my iMac is a brand new which I have purchased Feb 18th, 2009.
The problem is that there is a strange rectangle (black outlined, empty filled) keeps appearing on interface. It appears right now around the red circle button that closes this window. On desktop, it appears around the item I select. When I try to print out a file on Adobe Illustrator, it shows up on the dialogue panel. It just won't go away.
If anyone could help me getting rid of this annoying rectangle, my life will be saved!

It sounds like you may have VoiceOver turned ON. If you have your volume un-muted, you may also hear the computer talking to you.
It is controlled from System Preferences +Universal Access+ pane Seeing tab. Where it says VoiceOver, turn it OFF if it got turned ON inadvertently (probably by fitting Command-F5).

Hi. I am one of the very unhappy people who can't use the iPad for recording since getting ios7. The apple forum is replete with stories like mine: ios6 recording was quiet - ios7 is noisy. I have tried every suggestion. Why won't anybody at apple tell us what the problem is? I have been using macs since 1986. All I want to do is record my songs on my iPad. Unfortunately for me, I recently brought my iPad-mini refurbished so there is no warranty. If I had bought it new I would be at the Genius Bar until I got the problem fixed. Did I mention how unhappy I am? Here are the specs: 1st gen iPad mini running ios7. Recording onto Multitrack DAW with a Samson Go mic to a 30-pin USB camera adapter, into an apple brand lightening adapter into iPad mini. Everything works fine except for the HISS.

Its also popping up with a ton of ads like you just one and i phone 5 and crap.
Also when i click somewhere on the page where I'm not supposed to click some times it
redirects me to a new page please help!!!!:/ If u give me any websites to use
please make sure there securer or u have used them before so i don't get anymore viruses!

Choose system preferences, then under 'Personal' choose 'Universal Access''
You will see a checkbox called 'Voice Over'' (under the seeing tab). Switch this to off.

I followed directions left by others and in Windows 8 there is no Explore All Settings but found Use computer without a display. The narrator box was unchecked to begin with and I cannot get rid of the sound and that stupid blue line all over my screen.
Any ideas?

Based on your description, I understand that you want to disable Narrator in the Windows 8.
Did you mean that had un-checked
Turn on Narrator in Use the computer without a display panel (the path: Control Panel-> Ease of Access-> Ease of Access Center->
Use the computer without a display)? Please also click Make the computer easier to see in
Ease of Access Center, there also has a Turn on Narrator option. Please check if also un-check it.

When opening fox or any program a help pop up for that program keeps popping up until I close the program( fox, internet explore,...AVG etc )....Can anyone help me get rid of this?

Everytime I turn on my computer a help pop up comes up.When opening any program Fox browser, internet explorer, AVG, etc a help panel opens up. It does not stop until I close the program. I have run AVG and Spybot and it does not fix it.

A lack of free hard drive space on your hard drive could cause the delays. Highlight you boot drive and do command i to see the capacity, available and used space on your drive. "Available" needs to be no less that about 15 percent of "capacity."

Everytime I open Firefox I get a page from Video Download Helper. How do I get rid of this page once and for all?

Since two days, everytime I open firefox an extra tab opens up from Download Helper.
I close it everytime, but it's getting annoying.

Did you check for problems with the file prefs.js in the Firefox Profile Folder and rename or delete the file?
Windows may be hiding the .js file extension, so check the Properties via the right-click context menu to be sure.

Getting rid of a "download" icon appearing in Safari browser Flash Player

Please HELP!! I've inserted two screen shots to demonstrate what I'm trying to get rid of. Some months ago I downloaded the Free Video Downloader for Mac from here:

I'm stuck with a very annoying "Download" icon that POPS UP TOP LEFT when I mouse-hover on any and all Flash Player content on my Safari browser. I'm on Mac OS10.5.8. This is ONLY happening on my Safari browser. Not on Firefox or Chrome. I downloaded a Flash Video downloader for Safari months ago. I've deleted ALL traces of the app. I've been everywhere in my system Library - Application Support - Safari folders - etc, I've looked everywhere. Updating Flash Player makes no difference. Clearing all data in the Flash Player System Preferences interface does not get rid of it. Clearing the entire Safair cache does not get rid of it. Re-installing Safari does not get rid of it. I've tried anything and everything I can think of and I've run out of ideas! Short of wiping my hard drive and re-installing Leopard which I do not want to do, I'm stumped. Every time I hover my mouse over Flash content - I'm STILL stuck with this highly annoying "Download" icon in the top left corner of all Safari Browser Flash content. Restore as New (no backup)... then Re-Sync your Content.
Make sure you have the Latest Version of iTunes (v11.1.5) Installed on your computer

Have you tried a soft-reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

In Mail, one mailbox for Recovered Message (AOL) keeps showing 1 very large message that I cannot delete. How can I get rid of this recurring problem, please?

In Mail on iMac, successfully running OS X Lion, one mailbox on My Mac for "Recovered Messages (from AOL)" keeps showing 1 very large message (more than 20 Mb) that I just cannot seem to delete. Each time I go into my In Box, the "loading" symbol spins and the message appears in the "Recovered Messages" mailbox. How can I get rid of this recurrent file, please?
At the same time, I'm not receviving any new mails in my In Box, although, if I look at the same account on my MacBook Pro, I can indeed see the incoming mails (but on that machine I do not have the "recovery" problem).
The help of a clear-thinking Apple fan would be greatly appreciated.

I worked it out.
Unhide your hidden files ( I used a widget from http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/developer/hiddenfiles.html)
Go to your HD.
Go to Users.
Go to your House (home)
there should be a hidden Library folder there (it will be transparent)
Go to Mail in this folder
The next folder ( for me ) is V2
Click on that and the next one will be a whole list of your mail servers, and one folder called Mailboxes
Click on that and there should be a folder called recovered messages (server) . mbox
Click on that there a random numbered/lettered folder -> data
In that data folder is a list of random numbered folders (i.e a folder called 2, one called 9 etc) and in EACH of these, another numbered folder, and then a folder called messages.
In the messages folder delete all of the ebmx (I think that's what they were from memory, sorry I forgot as I already deleted my trash after my golden moment).
This was GOLDEN for me. Reason being, when I went to delete my "recovered file" in mail, it would give me an error message " cannot delete 2500 files". I knew it was only 1 file so this was weird. Why 2500 files? Because if you click on the ebmx files like I did, hey presto, it turned out that they were ALL THE SAME MESSAGE = 2500 times. In each of those folders in the random numbers, in their related message folder.
Now remember - DONT delete the folder, make sure you have gone to the message folder, found all those pesky ebmx files and deleted THOSE, not the folder.
It worked for me. No restarting or anything. And recovered file. GONE.
Started receiving and syncing mail again. Woohoo.
