Please help! Video and Audio Cut Out of Project Made in FCE, Burned in iDVD

I made a 20 minute movie in FCE 4 and burned it onto a DVD using iDVD (I have a MacBook that runs Mac OS X Snow Leopard). For some reason, when I watch the DVD, both the audio and the video cut out approximately five minutes into the movie. The audio and video both cut to black at exactly the same time and never come back. I haven't inserted any chapter markers or anything, so I know that's not the issue. Any idea what the problem might be? Thanks in advance.

Open the exported file in the QuickTime player. Does it play all the way through correctly? If yes, you should try the question on the iDVD forum. If no, report back what you've got in the QT player.

  • N95 Recorded Video: Video and audio is out of sync

Audio and video is out of sync when I play videos recorded with N95 on my PC. If have used different PC applications to play the video, but all exhibit the same problem.
In the beginning of at video it seems that the audio is about 400milliseconds ahead of the video - you hear the sound first. The different in audio and video is not constant. In a long video (30-50minutes) it is quite unpretictable how video and audio is out of sync in the end.
To experience the problem yourself record a long video sequence with a N95.
1 .Record something where it is easy to see if video and audio is in sync.
    2. Transfer the recording to a PC.
    3. Play the recording using VLC (www.videolan.org)
Another way to experience the problem is to convert the recording to AVI format at play it in MediaPlayer or WindowsMovieMaker. To convert a N95 video recording to AVI format use Mp4Cam2Avi.
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/mp4cam2avi/
The video recording settings I use on my N95 are:
    Best Quality
    No Video Stablisation
    Firmware version 21.0.0.16.
I think the video quality of N95 recordings is quite good, so I would really like to be able to view and edit the recorded vidoes on my PC.

I've seen this issue, but it's not so critical for me. It doesn't happen 100% of the time or in most situations it's very hard to see.
You can edit videos on your PC, just converting them to AVI then using any Video Editor on the PC.
Yes while editing separate the audio channel from the clip and reinsert at the begining of the clip. This will minimise sync issues. To get accurate sync increase the timeline so that you are able to the see audio squiggles as a waveform.

  • Video and audio goes out of sync when imported into Premiere

I have some videos ripped from some DVD that an acquaintance made, with an open source program called HandBrake, with the default "high profile" settings. When I play it both in VLC and in Quicktime, it plays just fine, but when I import it either in Premiere or in After effects, the video and audio goes out of sync (the video ran faster than the audio and when the video stops, the missing audio is trimmed).
Video info according to Premiere (in Spanish but you may get the meaning).

"HandBrake, these days, is almost entirely about H.264 video, aka MPEG-4 Part 10.  HandBrake is migrating to quality-based encoding."
Hmmm.  I use HC Encoder to make my DVDs because it's the only free encoder I've found with the much more professional Constant Q encoding option.  But HC Encoder doesn't do HD sources for Blu-ray, so I've been wondering if I'd be stuck with the lame-*** consumer CBR and VBR options most encoders provide (including Adobe - hint, hint) when I eventually start working in HD.  This is a very interesting program, Handbrake.  I will have to check it out.

  • Video and Audio go out of synch??

I have several tv shows and movies and have never run into this problem until this week.
Downloaded Star Trek DeepSpace Nine premier.
Get half way into the show and all of a sudden the audio track is running ahead of the video.
The entire rest of the 2 hr show is like this.
Is there a fix to this?

I've experienced the exact same problems you are having and it's driving me nuts.
It's not like my system has changed. I bought the Mac Pro and Final Cut Studio together and all was well when I first installed it. That initial project was an HDV project and DCDP worked great.
Since then I'm working mostly on SD PAL projects and when I go to preview it on the desktop it does the first frame freeze when you hit play and parks on the current frame when you hit stop.
I can resize the main edit window to full size and the sequence plays back fine but when I go to DCDP it just won't play at all. It feels like a bug but this is the first time I have found someone else with the same problem. By the way, I'm only using one monitor so the mirror desktop thing made no difference.
I know the DCDP isn't great quality but it's fine for getting a general overview and I sure do miss it.

  • ITunes 10.5 video and audio getting out of sync

    Hi,
my iTunes videos (bought from the store) are getting video and outio out of sync.
I found some hints to turn options in QT but iTunes 10.5 doesn't use QT - isnt'it?
Any ideas to solve this problem are welcome.
    Yours Rüdiger

Hi and welcome to the forum!
First of all, don't convert the file to a MP4. What exactly are the specifications of the MPEG file you are using? It would help to know the frame size, frame rate, and the audio rate.
You most likely placed a 32kHz clip in a 48kHz sequence or vice versa.

  • The video and audio are out of sync while watching movies with iTunes

Anyone know why iTunes is playing movies out of sync?  I try to watch a movie on my pc with iTunes but the audio is faster then the video.
I have searched for an answer everywhere but haven't found one yet, so if someone could please help.

  • Video and Audio cut off in Premiere CC after Syncing in PluralEyes 3

So I sycronized this sequence in PluralEyes 3. I exported it as an XML for Premiere Pro. I imported the XML into Premiere Pro CC. When I oppened up the sequence the end off all the clips are missing audio and video. More is missing for the longer clips. You can see how the clips are blocked off. I have video from a T3i and a K-x and audio from an H4N. Running OSX Mavericks on a Macbook Pro 15in Retina w/ Nvidia 650M 1G. Anybody have a solution or know why it's doing this?
    Thanks

Figured out that this happens if you import your assetts into premiere. Create a sequence. Export an XML from Premiere to PluralEyes. Sync it. Create an XML for Premiere and then import it into Premiere.
It works properly if you start in PluralEyes with your assetts and then Impot the synced XML into Premiere. Its a shorter and smarter way to do it anyway. I was trying to do it the way I used to on PC.

  • When I trim a Video in QTpro, the video and audio become out of sync

I use mpstreamclip to export video to mov or mp4 files. When I load up on QT pro and then do some trimming, the resultant clips often have audio and video that are slightly out of sync.
Can anyone provide some guidance on what to do?
    Thanks so much.
    Skip

I think it is going to be a problem with the fps setting on export. If you entered 30 fps as the setting for export and you found the result had the audio getting further and further ahead of the video the longer you watched it may be that you needed to enter a frame rate of 29.97 fps to keep things in sync. I am doing similar tests on some conversions because I have had sync problems as well. I will repost when I check my current export at 29.97 fps.

  • Video and Audio getting out of sync?!

So I have Final Cut Express on my Macbook with 2.4 GHz, 2.6 GB RAM and I am running Mac OSX 10.5.8. I have a 30 minute mpg, which does not import into FCE, so I converted it to an MP4 via a converter. When I play the video in a standalone player (the mp4) everything is fine but as soon as I put it into FCE and render it, the audio starts to get ahead of the video as the video goes on. its fine in the beginning then by the time its 15 minutes in its a good 1/2- 1 second ahead, and gets even worse by the end. CAN ANYONE HELP?!

  • Video and audio fall out of sync in Captivate 6

I made a great little video demo in which I added audio while I recorded it in Captivate 6. However when I play it back the audio and video fall out of sync. How can I fix my problem and how can I prevent it from happening again?
    JJ

Douglas, I found that even the SWF files have started to get out of synch as well (although not as badly as the MP4), so with Adobe's blessing, I installed Captivate 7 on my 2009 model MacBook Pro (with Windows 7 running in Bootcamp) and now when I publish both SWF and MP4 projects, they are in perfect synch.
The strange thing is that my MacBook Pro probably has less grunt than my work PC (Dell Lattitude) and I would also have thought that running in a Bootcamp based Windows 7, that would detract even further from Captivate's performance.
I am happy that this solves the synch issue, I am not happy that I must continually move projects between my office PC and my home based MacBook Pro in order to do this and I am still none the wiser as to what is actually causing the problem; although I do wonder whether it is in some way related to the reporting to base issue that was causing Captivate 7 to go into a not responding state every few minutes (that was resolved with a patch provided by Adobe support)..

  • Video and audio are out of sync

I have the Dell Venue 8 pro tablet running 8.1.  After downloading video from itunes, it plays fine but the audio and video quickly get out of snyc.  Any ideas?

First thing to check is the audio rate:
Are 32 kHz clips going to an FCE 32 kHz Sequence?
If the exports are 48 kHz, is the Sequence matching at 48 kHz?
Seqeunce settings are governed by the Easy Setup chosen when you start a Project.

  • Video and sound stutters in imovie project, made up entirely of stills with voice-over and music. I'm using iMovie 9.0.4 on a PowerBook 2GHz running 10.6.8 with 274 GB of space free. Size of project is 588 Gb.

This particular project is made up entirely of still photos with Ken Burns moves and dissolves between each photo. As I got further into the project, the voice over audio started stuttering, and now it hardly plays at all with a motorboat sound when it does play. I've also started added music with the dsame audio problem. I'm running on a Mac PowerBook 2GHz using System 10.6.8. I have IMovie version 9.0.4. The project file size is 588 Mb. I have 274 Gb of hard disc space left. I have shut off all other running programs and even disconnected from the internet, but nopthing seems to help. I acts like it's a memory problem of some sort, but all other applications run fine.

  • Video and Audio 2 frames out of sync: DVCPRO HD 720p60. Can you help me pl?

    Hi,
I'm capturing DVCPRO HD video 720p60 [shooted with a Panasonic VARICAM (AJ-HDC27)].
I'm using a Panasonic AJ-HD1200A videorecorder (by the Firewire port):
on the Final Cut Pro (5.1) timeline, video and audio are out of sync (audio comes two frames before video). Why?
    Can someone help me please?
    Thanks a lot.

This is normal when capturing DVCPRO HD via firewire. Happens to me all the time. I simply slip the audio back two frames when I drop them into the timeline. Only way to fix this is to get an HD capture card like the Kona LHe or Decklink Extreme and capture the footage via HD SDI as DVCPRO HD. Doing that will eliminate the sync issue.
    It is all FIREWIRE's fault...

  • Audio cuts out half way through video after conversion.

I just put together some video clips I've shot into a single video, then ran it through conversion. Half way through the completed video, the audio cuts out for the rest of the film. Yet in iMovie, it's still there. I've converted twice and it cuts out in the same spot. Could corruption in a single clip, kill the audio for the following clips? Since it takes hours to convert, I thought I'd ask before deleting the suspect clip and starting again.
I've spliced together clips before without problem, using the same camera source.
    Thanks.
    Cheers

I figured a work-around. From the clip where the audio cut out till the end, I dragged those clips to a new iMovie project. After converting, the sound was intact for that portion. Then I opened the complete version with audio cut-off in Quicktime Pro. Deleted the the half with audio loss. Then joined the new half I just created. Voila!
Only when I went to post the video on my vlog, did my Internet connection die (Comcast strikes again).

  • Video and audio out of synch on burned DVD.  DVD project appears to be fine.  I'm using 1X speed to burn disc.  Project info indicates plenty of space.  What should I do?

Video and audio are out of synch on some chapters of a burned double layer DVD.  The iDVD (7.1.2) project seems to be fine.  I'm burning the DVD using a 1X speed.  What else can I do to solve this problem.  Based on the project information, I have plenty of space relative to the DVD capacity.

Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
