PLEASE HELP! Weird Issue after Restore

I had to do a restore on my iPhone. I'm in India right now and everything seems to be working fine, but I keep getting an error message at startup that says
"Waiting for AT&T activation
This may take some time."
It gives the option to dismiss, but why is this message even showing up? My phone number shows up properly in iTunes and the phone recognizes that I'm activated properly. I don't get it.
Is this going to show up every time I start the iPhone?

Did you do the restore here in US or in India? That SIM card is looking for at&t service and since it is not available there it gets stuck in that endless loop. Try to put it in airplane mode and see what it tells you. All I can say is just cancel it and sync as you would normally do. Watch out for a huge bill IF you are making calls. Hope you realize that and don't be surprised when the bill arrives.Read up on some of the stories other users here have posted on that issue.

99.9% of the time, the cause of this issue is the fact the phone was jailbroken/hacked to unlock it for use on networks other than the network the phone was originally locked to. Apple maintains a database of officially unlocked iPhones, and when Apple's servers detect phones such as yours, activation stops & you get the message you got.
So, you need to get a sim card from the carrier the phone was originally locked to, or get it officially unlocked, if you want to activate it. Because it appears that it was not officially unlocked.

Help Weird issue after expanding another emac.

ok i expanded my first emac no problem.
ended up with a g4 800 Mhz emac and after a cd drive upgrade i have to restart the machine sometimes the drive will power up and function and the other half of the time the drive doesn't show up in mac os x tiger What the heck??
please help me
the system specs are
G4 emac 800 Mhz
512 Megs of ram
250gig hard drive
mac os x tiger (10.4.11)

Let me explain if you run into this problem yourself.
The emac seems to power down the cd drive to conserve power once you place a cd in the drive the drive appears in disk utility.

That's usully symptomatic of a phone that was jailbroken or hacked to unlock it.

Please Help! Can't restore VF0380 operation after many recovery attempts

My model VF0380 webcam has been operating effectively for over 5 years. Until two months ago it had been operating on my current computer (HP Pavilion running Windows 8.1). The webcam still functions on another PC (running Vista). When plugged into any USB port on my computer, Driver Manager identifies VF0380 under 'Other devices' with a yellow exclamation point (code 1) - actually there are two identical VF0380 device items. Any attempt to update the driver fails - it reports that a driver can be found but 'errors when attempting to install it'. I've made many attempts to reinstall the current version of the software (LCOR_0380_PCDRV_LA_1_03_03) - using the exact downloaded file that installed and operated this webcam previously (and I used a new copy). After initial failures, I uninstalled (and deleted) everything in the file system about Creative software or the webcam. During installation, after extracting the files, setup reports 'An error occurred while setting up the driver' (setup exits after clicking 'ok'). I've compared the driver files under system32 on my PC with the same files on the (Vista) computer where the cam still operates - driver files in system32 have the same names (some have different sizes and dates). There are no system restores back to the period when the cam was operating. There is nothing unusual about my computer - there are no viruses. I can only imagine that a file is missing, the registry is corrupted, or there is a dll conflict - but I stumped. Please help!

After more hours of investigation, I discovered how to restore my webcam operation. The DeviceInstall service had Stopped (I don't know why) - it was Stopped even after reboot. After setting the service to Running, a device was installed. I reset the Sevice's default state by using RestoreDeviceInstallServiceWindows8.bat that I found online. I found the dead installer because I was (subsequent to my webcam hassles) failing to install another device (an iPhone service) - so I looked at Services via the Task Manager for anything suspicious. Learning how to install iTunes through the back door (see link) led to a lot of other learning I hadn't planned to do. But, it helped me to discover how to restore my webcam (which I did through WinSxS - I was never able to get the LCOR 1.3.3 install to work since the original install.

I had mega problems too. Try following the steps in my posting as below after creating a new user account on your computer with ADMIN priviledges also. See my posting on 20/06/2009 22:33 titled "Upgrade Error number 4 and Restore Error 1603 when going to OS 3.0 - Solved"
And turn off any antivirus and firewall software too, before doing so. In ITunes, highlight your iphone icon and then click the Restore Button on the ITunes Summary tab which seems to force the iphone into an update. Dont try using the Check for update button. Good Luck...........

Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.
Error 3002: If you experience this error while updating an iPod touch (2nd generation) or iPhone 3G, please use the standard update or restore process in iTunes (click Update or Restore).
Error 3014 may indicate that you need to free up more disk space on the computer before trying to restore again.
Error 3194: You may not have the latest version of iTunes installed Update to the latest version of iTunes. If the issue persists, follow the steps above in "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com".

Please help - boot issues, os issues HELP

so i came home after three months and started up my mac. i was having internet issues so i restarted the mac. ever since the mac has been tremendously slow, taking sometime 15 minutes to boot. after that every application runs absurdly slow. i searched the forums and found the suggestion to boot into open firmware and reser pram and nvram.
so i did that. after that the os x boot screem came up and the status bar seemed to be moving faster, but it gets all the way to the end of the bar and then just hangs.
i know have the tiger install dvd in the drive and am trying to reboot, because i saw the suggestion to run a hardware test and a disk repair but i cannot boot to the dvd either.
please HELP! i love my mac and am going crazy without it, having to use the horrible dell laptop my work gives me right now.

If your attempt to boot from Tiger DVD fails, it sounds like the directory on the disk drive is very damaged and corrupt, which can prevent booting.
Do you have a FireWire drive handy?
A backup?
You will need another drive to work from. And either a copy of TechTool Pro 4.5 or Disk Warrior probably.
You could try booting to Single User Mode (command s) and run fsck - though I suspect it will say it was unable to repair, nothing to lose - maybe.
How hard is to to disconnect the internal hard drive? or to replace it? or move it to a external FW/SATA interface case.

Please help. iTunes says to restore phone but then an error occurs while..

When I plug in my phone to my computer, it tells me it cannot read the phone and that I need to restore my phone. I press ok and then restore and it finishes extracting the software but ends there and another window pops up and says iTunes cannot restore iPhone "iPhone" error -18.
I cannot update any songs onto my phone or change any media on it because I cannot sync it. Please help me.
Oh, and one more. Whenever I try to play a song or video at a random part in the song/video the audio will stop for five seconds and then it will switch to next song in playlist or exit out of that video. If you fastforward past that 5 second time period for each song (each song has a different place where it stops) you can listen to the rest of the song. I have tried restarting my phone and reinstalling iTunes but nothing seems to work. AND its not just this particular phone. This is a replacement because my old one wouldn't turn on but before that problem occured this audio problem was still existing.

Assuming you have not unlocked or otherwise hacked the phone with 3rd party software check the following:
1. You are using a USB 2 port and not USB 1.1
2. You connect directly to a USB port on the computer, and not to a USB hub.
3. You are not running Vista 64 bit.
4. You are using iTunes v 7.5
If you pass all of these try a Recovery. Reboot your computer, launch iTunes, then hold the HOME button while putting the phone in the cradle. Continue to hold the Home button until the phone displays a message saying it is in Recovery mode. Then wait until you get an error or it finishes restoring. DO NOT remove the phone from the cradle before one of these two events happens.
If it still doesn't work take it to an Apple store or call Apple support.

IPhone 5 brightness permanently reduced (Please help, voltage issue??)

I really need someone with high expertise to help me. Obviously i appreciate any help given but please dont say point less comment like reboot the phone or turn autobrightness off.
Here is the issue:
I have had several iPhones, right from the first to the 5. Lucky me. But i have always had the same issue. The screen brightness is significantly lower than any other iPhone that I compare it to.
Now i have the iPhone 5, if i compare it to anyone elses the brighness is much lower. Autobrightness is off. When i first got the iPhone the brightness was like everyone elses.
i only use the official charger. I think there may be a problem with the voltage or the electricity in my home as all my iPhones have had this problem. Im not sure when the change happens but the something is damaging the backlight of my iPhones. No idea what.
Please can some one with the same issue or knowledge of physics please help me. I dont want to keep having this issue. I also have a Macbook pro and am fairly sure its happned with this also but have no means of comparison as I dont know any one else with one that comes to my apartment.

The iPhone 5 has full Warranty. Make Genius reservation and take to Apple Store. Show the Genius the problem and they will replace your iPhone 5 with a perfect iPhone 5 without problems. If some of iPhone 5 have this problem, it does not matter, Apple makes millions of iPhone 5, some are going to have a problem. When the Genius gives you the new replacement iPhone 5 test it out in the Apple Store before you leave, so you are happy and do not waste anymore of your time.

Web Sharing issue after restore

After restoring my imac from a time machine backup recently, everything is working great apart from my Web Sharing.
I used to go to http://localhost/~username, that just gives localhost, server not found.
I can still connect to the mysql server at localhost, but any attempt to browse any of my created sites comes up blank and looks to be a possible apache problem as http://localhost is also blank.
In sharing prefs, web sharing is on, I've turned it off and on again. The weird thing is that where it previously would say http://localhost/~username it not says http://codename.lan.
Connecting to this doesn't work surprisingly so I don't know what to say!
Any starting places would be most welcome!

Issue after restoring of DR db into QA db

Hi Gurus,
Recently we have cloned DR server and restore it to QA server (including oracle) for testing purpose.After restoration of DR (physical standby) db into QA, I have re-started the db but database open in read only mode.
My requirement is to change read-only mode to read-write mode so that we can perform testing on QA database.
Database version is Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - 64bit on windows 64bit.
Can we convert read only mode to read write mode?Is this possible? or Do we need to break dataguard?
If possible , how to do it?
Please provide me steps to convert read mode to read-write mode.

This is a backup of your DR database...so you wouldn't need to break dataguard or make any changes on your prod or DR databases.
Just activate this copy of your standby.
ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE FINISH;
ALTER DATABASE ACTIVATE STANDBY DATABASE;
