Please Help; Windows 7 Home Premium to Professional.
In requirement for an IT class, I installed Windows 7 Professional over my Windows 7 Home Edition installation on my netbook. I have encountered a seriously problem though, as Windows 7 Professional seems to be stuck in Safe Mode and will not let me connect
to the internet (The little red X is next to the networking icon on the bottom right hand of the screen, despite my Ethernet cable being plugged in). I must have done the installation wrong
I need to restore my old windows configuration (that's in my Windows.old file) and be able to connect to the internet. Can anybody help me?
I will suggest you to check and update Network drivers and check the results. Or you can share a screenshot from device manager if you're not sure.

Lenovo H230 - upgrade from Windows 7 Home Premium to Professional
I would like to put Professional on my H230 in such a way as to have it in the RECOVERY PARTITION so I will be able to RECOVER to that version. I do not believe an INSTALL will allow that.
How do I install to the RECOVERY PARTITION? so it will be the RECOVERY version?Well, I'm embarrassed to admit I rather "jumped the gun" on this one ... having written and posted my query I thought I'd see if a Restart would help ... it did!! Turns out I am now satisfactorily upgraded to Pro.
Sorry if I have wasted anyone's time and ... if you're experiencing a similar problem ... I'd advise you go for a Restart before panicking ... like me!! -

Windows 7 home premium after a year of working fine, today stopped working with create PDF printer. I print to the PDF printer, looks normal, but no file appears in my files of PDFs created on line. My laptop running Windows 7 Professional has had no such problem. Please advise.

Hi all! I was updating the software on i pad to ios6, update was interrupted(apple update server is unavailable...). iTunes Diagnostics shows that "secure link to I tunes store failed". I use Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Can anybody help please?

Syncronizing my 3gs with itunes the sync does not finish because itunes always crash and stuck and i can not sync my device, i dont no whats wrong because the itunes even can not acess itunes store, still loading waiting for itunes store and nothing.I tryed reinstall itunes but just waste of time.

You asked what I meant about saving the installer on your PC.
When you go to the iTunes download page:

And click on download, you should be offered the choice of running the installer or saving it. You need to click on save and then choose a folder on you PC where you want it saved. But I think you already did that.
After the installer file - iTunessetup.exe - is save on your computer, you double click on it to run it.
It's very odd that the installer fails at different stages. usually when the installation fails, it is at a specific stage and usually generates an error message.
I am afraid I am mystified. Have you had any other problems with your PC which might suggest a general problem not specific to iTunes?
The only other suggestion I have is to download a fresh copy of the installer - in case it got corrupted. You could also try using "run as administrator" to run the installer. It should be an option if you right click on the installer file.
The other thing it might be worth trying is to install it from another account, but you would need to create another administrator account if you don't a;ready have one. Or if you have another account that is not an admin account, you can temporarily promote it from the control panel>>User accounts. -

I'm trying to install iTunes on my computer running Windows 7 Home Premium. I'm not sure if iTunes is compatible with my computer operating system because when I try to install it, it says the installation is completed but it says there was an error so it won't let me get itunes! Natalie.I just tried running the Lenovo Hard Drive Quick Test both in normal mode and in safe mode. Both times it indicated a failed read test on the HDD. The last two tests also failed. I forget what those tests were called.
I am really beginning to think I have a bad HDD and the problem just happens to be in the reserved partition where my factory system software resides. -

Hello. I have a laptop with an HDD of an old laptop that had a valid Windows 7 Home Premium key. But now I have it in my other laptop the Windows is not valid anymore. Now I heard you can update Windows with Windows Anytime Upgrade. But when I entered my
Windows 7 Professional key that I got from Dreamspark. It says that its not valid. How can I upgrade without losing any of my files and programs.
So how can I update Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit to Windows 7 Professional 64 bit without fresh reinstall and without Windows anytime update?

Need help reinstalling Windows 7 home premium on HP G62-435DX
My internal hard disk crashed and I followed advice from this forum to use Ubuntu (using live disc from CD ROM drive) to recover data and save to external hard drive. Next, I replaced the internal hard drive with a 500GB internal hard drive. I figured out how to partition the new internal hard drive and get Ubuntu to acknowledge it.
Now, I'm trying to figure out how to reinstall my Windows 7 Home Premium operating system so I can try to get back to normal. However, I cannot figure out how to download Windows 7 to my hard drive using my product key that came with my machine when I bought it. All the download options appear to require you to buy/request Windows 7 recovery discs to run and install on the machine (since I didn't create these prior to my hard disk failing).
Is this really the only way I can use my product key to reinstall Windows 7 to my machine? Also, I cannot figure out how to download the OS from Windows 7 ISO downloads (via Digital River) to my internal hard drive - seems I can only do this by downloading and burning to CDs (which I don't believe I have the right kind - but obviously am happy to buy if it's the best/fastest option). It seems I have very limited options since I had to remove my internal hard drive, which then eliminated Windows 7 from my machine.
Based on these details - I ultimately want to determine the fastest, most efficient way to get Windows 7 OS back on my machine. I'd prefer to download it, but am hamstrung by having to run Ubuntu from a Live CD. Thanks for your help!Here are the specs for your HP G62-435DX Notebook Computer. I bought this lenovo u400 like 2 years ago and i had no problems, but now my SSD went dead and i bought another, after the replacement i just installed the original windows 7 64 bit home premium, put my notebook's serial installed all the drivers, and when i install the Ati driver from Lenovo my pc gets stuck in a black screen with a white line on the top left of my screen, when i do FN+F8 while booting and start window's safe mode and i go to the device manager i see this ones: 6470M and Intel HD graphics family, when i disable intel hd graphics family my pc boots up normally but the resolution is 800x600 and the max is 1024x768, If i install the Intel 3000 HD my 6470m appears with a yellow triangle on the device manager, i've tried almost 30 different drivers from leshcat, hp, dell, lenovo and AMD's webpage, none of them work, and when i go to the CCC it just lists the intel 3000.
Sorry for my bad english, im from Argentina, Lenovo's support on argentina sucks, last time i've sent it it costed a lot of money, they scratched multiple parts on my laptop and didn't fix most of my problems, and i can't get the One Key backup anywhere, pls help, atleast AND IF ANYONE WITH A LENOVO U400 WITH WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM IS READING THIS AND HIS 6470M DRIVER IS WORKING, PLEASE CONTACT ME.
Lenovo, please, don't give me a crappy answer and most of times when that answer does not fix the problem then you give up and don't reply anymore. Im getting sick, i got this laptop for doing 3D modeling, video editing and multiple more and i just can't go and buy another, things are really expensive in Argentina.welcome to the community.
i would recommend that you call Service to request a factory recovery dvd set.

I have a very specific question. I currently am running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit, but I want to use Windows 7. However, I want to use Windows 7 Professional 32-bit (rather than Windows 7 Home Premium) and understand that this will require a clean install.
Before I purchase Windows 7 Professional, I want to make sure that this can be done correctly. Does anyone know if this is possible or have already done this?
I have downloaded and ran Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor which told me that I would be able to upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate, but it does not mention Windows 7 Professional at all. I'm assuming this is because it would require a clean install.

Laurenthanks ... I see now from your other post that you're probably getting either a "missing QuickTime.msi" message or being told that a "newer version of QuickTime" is installed when you try to go ahead and uninstall QuickTime after you're told about the Key?
Unfortunately, these sorts of msi-related troubles have gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly this time?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)
