Please Help with iMovie 08 on Leopard

I dont know if this should be posted here or under Leopard but anyone who knows a fix please help me out.
I recently upgraded to Leopard three days ago and heres a big problem now. I installed iLife 08 and I have both iMovie 06 and iMovie 08 on my iMac. I open up iMovie 08 and try to create a project and everything is fine, except I can't import any video file. So I thought .mp4 wasn't compatible, which I know it should be, I made another copy of the movie.mp4 that I was working with to movie.avi, to movie.mpg and it's not importing at all. So I figured it would be a problem inside iMovie 08 so I launch iMovie 06 and it's the same thing.
It's saying Error code: -37
I've been searching all night for what exactly that means and I haven't found it on the web so I'm assuming its a new error that I guess not many people have experienced but I'm in a huge dilemma right now. I have to finish a project by Sat afternoon and I dont know what to do.

According to the Mac Error codes list I have -37 is a bad name error. As to what that means, I have no idea. I suppose you could try to rename the original file...
