Please help with medical files I need to open immediately and cannot.

I have some medical files sent to me that I desperately need to open. The instructions were to copy the file to the desktop, a zip file by the way, left click using the mac button and "I" at the same time. A menu would open saying "open with" and I was to choose stuffit. Then enter the password when prompted. I was able to get to the stuffit part and the password prompt and entered the password, but nothing happened. I keep getting the error message: Unable to unarchive "LoganRobertPEME.zip" into "Desktop". (Error 1-Operation not permitted.)
Can anyone help me open this file?

Contact whoever sent you the file. Perhaps it's a bad archive. Or be sure you entered the password correctly. They are case sensitive.

"Your email account" means to tap on the name of your email account. Whatever it is listed as in the settings.
In my mail settings, one of my email accounts is a Comcast account. I tap on the Comcast name and it brings up this window.
Then I tap on the arrow under the Outgoing mail server smtp setting to get to the next window.
In the resulting window, I then tap on the arrow next to the smtp server under the Primary Server setting.
That brings up this window in which I check to make sure that my user name and password have been entered correctly. If those items are missing, enter them in the appropriate fields and then tap done.

Need help with .mov files that won't open

Here's the situation...
I have 2 dvdr's with 4 .mov files on them. when i try to copy them to my desktop it tells me that
"the finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "BonJovi_Who_SaysDV NTSC.mov" could not be read or written. (Error code -36)
I have to gain access to these .mov files tonight or I'm gonna be a real shithead. I just got the discs fedex'd to me today so I didn't put it off til the last minute. Can anyone offer any possible solutions? If so, please help.

Putting aside copyright issues in (naive?) belief you have a legitimate use of the material, your problem lies in the file or disk. One of them is either corrupt or not compatible with the drive you are trying to read it on. Try it on another computer (even a PC) and if you can read it on that computer make a new copy of the file on a new disk or a firewire drive (or USB stick if it fits).

Please help with RTAV files and Telecini import

I am trying to archive old 16mm films. I purchased a telecini and i am importing in to a Panasonic DVD video recorder and burning on to DVD. I am not sure this is important. The challenge I have is that when I put the DVD in my Powerbook g4 it opens the DVD and reads as a RTAV file. When I open the RTAV file the file is empty. I have never experienced this before and I don't even know what an RTAV file is. Please excuse my ignorance if this is basic.
The second question I have is....I would like to import from the telecini directly in to Imove. My powerbook does not recognize the telecini which I expected. I think I need software to recognize the telecini and bridge to Imovie. Any suggestions?

your question stumbles into some hurdles.. :
The Panasonic dvd-corder is one of the rare devices, which allow aside the 'standard' dvd-r/w usage of socalled DVD-Ram.. which creates RTAV files.. and which are NOT readable by your Mac (=empty) ..
so, to solve your rtav problem, use 'normal' dvd-r/+r/-rw or +rw .. (I like re-writable disks for 'transport' issues.. after transfer, erase and re-use them) ...
I guess, your telecini (cozy name ) device offers an analogue output.. if you have a manufacturers site url, post it here, maybe we find some additional info .. if so, you need a converter device, whch converts from analogue to digital.. there are some devices, Canopus, EyeTV which are supported by iM ...
finally: I would let do the conversion by some professional service, which allows 'transfer' to miniDV .. best quality and best compatibility..
ahh, forgot to mention: and if you use dvd-r in your Panasonic instead of DVD-Ram, to convert such stuff, the usual reply is....... :
DVDs are in a socalled delivery format (mpeg2), which isn't meant and made for any processing as editing...

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP WITH MISSING FILES XP PROBLEM

i recently purchased an ipod touch, and all i want to do is get some music on it, and update the firmware, but i cant use itunes, cuz im getting 'there are some files missing' problem.
I swear to god, if i dont get this fixed by the end of the week, im gonna post the latest video on youtube... on how to smash up apple products.
Ive been trying NOT to buy apple products since the first dawn of time, but i do actually like the ipod touch. But, low and behold... the very reason why i never buy apple products has been confirmed!

Please Help with JtextArea!! Need advice from Java expert!

Hi, I need something VERY simple, and it is unbelievable I'm looking for a solution for so long! I really hope some of you java-gurus can help me out. Here's the thing:
1. Make a Jframe
2. Add a JTextArea and use a transparent color (e.g. 0.1f,0.1f,0.1f,0.1f)
3. loop a setText method to display a constantly varying text, e.g. the time in milliseconds
I simply can't do it in any way if I use transparency. Without transparency it works with no problems.
I am on Mac, and I have checked out this site:

Yes, I did which is why I asked the question are you trying to create a transparent JFrame so that the desktop image is displayed in the frame? To my knowledge this feature (if it works) is a Mac only feature and does not work on windows. If this is what you are trying to do then I have no idea how to do it and will not respond any more.

Is the map just not an image (ie. a JLabel with an ImageIcon) placed in a scrollpane? Then as the map moves you change the viewport position so it looks like the map is moving? Then you can simply add a label containing the GPS coordinates on top of the label representing the map.

Help with Locked files? Need help asap

When I tried to open a file in DW8 today I got this message:
File.html is a locked file and can be viewed but not changed.
What would you like to do with this file?

How did this happen and how can I undo this?

If you had to use FINDER to unlock them, then it wouldn't
have been anything
in DW. That's fairly typical for files that have been copied
from a CD,
though.

I found this scale images applescript online. It works great when a bunch of files is dragged on top of the script but I would like it to also work when a folder or group of files is selected in the Finder and I activate it from the scripts menu.

When items are dragged to your script's icon they are passed in to the on open handler, so this triggers:

and the dragged items are passed in as some_items
In contrast, when you double-click on the script, or invoke it via the Script menu, this runs the on run handler:

However, there's nothing in this block that actually does anything with the selection - you (dangerously) assume that the selection is a folder (you really should check first), and just set theItems to every file in that folder then you exit.
So to do what you want you'll need to edit your run handler to filter the selection and pass files over to the code that does the hard work.
You already have the basis for this - your rescaleandsave() handler, so it's just a matter of identifying the files in the selection and passing those over to that handler:

So the idea here is that the run handler gets the selection and works through the (potentially-numerous) items. For each selected item it checks whether its a folder or a file, if its a folder it gets all the files within and passes them to the rescaleandsave handler.
Note that this is not recursive - it won't catch files within folders within folders - since it only looks at the top level of selected folders, but it wouldn't be hard to rework the script to handle that if that's what you need.

This is the first time that we have tried to hook our Sony Handycam (mini dv) up to our imac instead of our Sony Vaio computer. I am trying to burn a DVD off of the DV Rewritable disc I have and use it again tomorrow for my daughters birthday but it is not working with the mac? Anything I can do, please help. Can you insert the DVD and just drag the files off?
Please be careful! The iMac is NOT compatible with 3 inch DVD, like the ones used by this sony handicam!
If you insert this kind of DVD into your iMac, you will have a broken superdrive, in addition to a video problem!

Hi,
I have run into a Coldfusion problem that I was hoping you
could help me with.
What I am trying to solve is the dynamic creation of at least
5 levels of categories for a menu built with Coldfusion, and if
possible an infinite amount of levels.
Each of these also if it is at the end of the tree will have
to have products under it aswell the category will only show up if
there is products under it.
To acomplish this I have created a database table called
"Categories" which contains the fields shown in the linked
spreadsheet. I am using the "cat_parent" to hold the value of the
parent of the current record. When the parent is a top level menu
item I have assigned this a cat_parent id of "0". Using this method
I am able to do a self join on the table (where "cat_parent" =
"cat_id") to extract the relationship between parent and child
records throughout the table. This works fine. And I have created
output for 5 levels of display.
There are 3 issues left that I could not work out.
- Firstly my coding method loops through each node of the
tree with one query to create each category of the menu. This means
one query per menu category and as the client could have up to 200
categories in the menu and I am concerned that the solution that I
have come up with is too processor intensive.
- Secondly the way that I have created the category menu is
hard coding in the levels needed so there is only 5 not an infinite
amount which would be preferable but is not essential.
- Finally I could not work out how to not create "parents" in
the tree if there is no products for the end child category.
Meaning that if there is for example a category > subcategory
> subsubcategory but there is no products associated with the
end category - "subsubsubcategory" then it's parent and so on will
not display until one of them has products.
Here
is a link to a zip file that includes: the cfc that contains
the query function (categories.cfc), the page that is creating the
categories menu (lefnav.cfm), a simple cfc that contains a products
query just for testing (products.cfc) along with a spreadsheet of
the Categories table's fields.
I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Is it possible to use to invoke tag files from other tag files in the project? Is it allowed by spec?
1. Create empty project.
2. Create tag file tagFile1.tag using wizard.
3. Create tag file tagFile2.tag using wizard.
4. Drag TagFile2 tag from toolbar to tagFile1.tag in editor pane.
tagFile1.tag is:

Is it a bug of JDeveloper or OC4J or am I duing something against the spec? Could someone please comment this behaviour.

I have a jar file named Helper.jar with
com.xyz.util.Helper.class in it.
Now I have a SrcFile.java that
imports com.xyz.util.Helper;
It compiles fine with:
java -classpath Helper.jar;. SrcFile.java
...and runs fine with:
java -cp Helper.jar;. SrcFile
When I jar it with:
jar cvfm SrcFile.jar SrcFile.mf *.class
...and run it with:
java -cp Helper.jar;. -jar SrcFile.jar
I get the following exception:
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/xyz/util/Helper
...but yet, Helpler.jar runs fine with:
java -jar Helper.jar
Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong or
do I have to un-jar the Helper.jar file and
re-jar SrcFile.jar with all the .class files?

Please help with "Missing File" on iMovie 10.0.2!

After importing clips from my GoPro to iMovie 10.0.2, the clips along with others in the same events are not available. The preview screen and thumbnail both say, "Missing File." Many of the clips that are now "missing" were uploaded and edited months ago

Beat markers are not included in iMovie 10. Another nice feature that has gone missing in this upgrade.

As I was trying to modify the menubar I took out the SArtFile.Bin and Extras2.rsrc from their respective folders. I did this without replacing them first, which prior to this time work perfectly. Now when I try to replace them with the prefer file or even the correct file it says the folder can't be modified. It then asks me to authenticate or cancel. When I press authenticate I get "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -60008)." as the message. Does anyone know a fix? I also think I should add that the only applications that work are the ones that were open at the time I was trying change the menubar.

Reinstall the OS and then run Software Update. Then, be careful mucking with the OS's innards.
