Please Help With My Volume Control Prob

Hi. I purchased an Asus P5WD2-E Premium over the summer. I used to use a creative sound blaster li've card and just the windows drivers for it. I would use on-board audio for my front panel headphone jack , and switch within windows without a problem. After a week or so The windows volume control disappeared from my task bar, and Flash movies from youtube and other sites would not play with audio anymore. I bought an Audigy 2ZS and have disabled onboard sound in the Bios. Yesterday I had the same problem again. I am running Windows XP Prof with SP2. The only thing I did yesterday was uninstall, then reinstall FFDSHOW. Any ideas on what can be happening, and how to fix it. Thanks a lot

By the way... it says my version is 0.0.58 I think i need a firmware update. Can someone tell me where to get that and how to do it please? The user guide is not working on my PC.
That number you see on the recovery menu is not your firmware version; you find that thru System > Information on your Micro's main menu (but you can't get there). I'd try all the options on the recovery menu--yes, even formatting. (Sorry, your music is probably screwed; that's why you should always have a backup plan--PC dri've, original or burned CD's, subscription service for re-downloading, etc.)
The "reload firmware" option erases the current firmware so you can reload it. Download it from your national Creative site by choosing Support > Downloads from the site menu above; you can also go directly to Creative's international download site, http://www.nomadworld.com/downloads/drivers/ . If you're using a "to-go" subscription service, download version 2..02; otherwise, download version ..0.
