Vodka -- alcohol. Makes sense. I guess Irish whiskey wouldn't work as well due to the colour, because Jameson's would be my bevvy of choice if I were to down a few shots before.
Drink the Irish, and as for the cleaning Vodka, buy the absolute cheapest one in the store, the one you wouldn't want to drink.
They all meet FDA standards for human consumption unlike alcohol in the drug store.

Click here and follow the instructions. If the computer originally shipped with Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier, when you reach step 5, insert its original disk, restart with the C key held down, use the Disk Utility to erase the internal drive, and install a fresh OS.

How do you make a MacBook Pro talk to an Epson printer?
MacBook Pro
OS X 10.6.8
(Thinking about getting another MacBook)
I had an Epson Artisan printer, got an Epson Workforce WF-3640 new in Jan, hardly used because I cannot make it do what I want it to do. Wireless connection is good.
With the MacBook Pro, the interface with the Epson printers is not what it used to be on the G4: no ColorSync, no 2-sided, no thick paper, none of those kinds of instructions appear on the generic printer control panel. Which by the way, bears NO resemblance to the Epson manual screenshots, and the instructions in the Epson manual are useless.
How do you make a MacBook Pro talk to an Epson printer? And by the way, I cannot use the scanner either. I have to set up a document to print, then when the printing progress box appears, click on the scanner icon.
Also
Printer has 2 compartments. Top compartment #1 for all types paper.
Bottom compartment #2 for plain paper only.
I load glossy photo paper in #1, it prints plain paper from #2 even though I entered instructions on the control panel on the printer. If you haven't done so already, try resetting the printing system.

How do you clean the leather iPad cover?
How do you clean the leather iPad cover?
I've used my leather iPad cover (black) on three different iPads now - the iPad 2, the iPad 3 and the iPad 4 - over a period of more than two years. I've never found the need to clean the cover. If I were to do that, I would probably use a clean microfiber cloth much like the one I would use to clean the iPad's screen.

QuickTime X seems to be the future development for Apple and it has features not found in version 7.
Likewise, QuickTime Player 7 with the "Pro" license has a lot of features not (yet) available in QuickTime X. Most notable are the extensive export options, movie property editor, & "old school" window style with easy to set in & out timeline points that don't block the image.
But because it is a 32 bit application it is much slower for some things than QT X, most notably playback of HD movie content.
So I use QT 7 for editing & exporting and QT X for playback-only stuff. -

How often physically clean my macbook pro?
How often physically clean my macbook?.
When cleaning the keyboard and trackpad, be VERY CAREFUL not to get any fluid under the keys or around the edge of the trackpad. It will be impossible to remove and over time can lead to serious corrosion issues, like those in these photos (double-click on the image for an up-close-and-gory look at the damage): https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3875300
Alternately, you can try and keep dirt away from the Mac by using protective shells and keyboard covers. I use a hard transparent shell from Speck that has saved the aluminum on the lid from several nasty scratches already. Some people prefer their black matte shells, which feature a grippy non-slip rubberized finish. -

Well, I have connected my mbpr directly to a Sony Bravia using an hdmi cable, then set the tv to use the corresponding input port, and it works just fine. Have also connected via airplay -> appletv -> tv (with the last connection via an hdmi cable), which also works fine.

How would you upgrade my MacBook Pro 15" to maximize performance? No dollar limit.
I love my MCB, but am not technical.
Spend my money, theoretically -- If you had an unlimited budget to upgrade this system to make it fast and more efficient, what would you buy or do to it?
I'm deciding if I should scrap it and get a new MacBook Pro 13" instead. I like my MCB 15", but it seems to be getting hung up alot with the spinning rainbow, everyday apps freezing or crashing, and just slow when I have multiple windows open in Safari and Firefox at same time. I realize that the sites I browse to are more graphic intensive than they were when I got the MCB in 2008, but I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile to spend some $$$ to upgrade whatever I can and save my pennies for a newer Mac in a year or two. Safari and Mail crash or get hung a lot, Photo Booth folder is mysteriously empty,
So should I expect to be able to get substantial performance improvement (speed, multi-tasking) if I upgrade whatever is upgradable?
I surf using multiple browsers and open many tabs and mail with numerous accounts and magicjack, ocassionally use iweb, pages, text, calendar, low intensity games.
Thanks for any advice and recommendations and thoughts. I'd probably get the Genius Bar to install upgrades.

Also -- it had a couple of soft drops to floor and one medium intensity drop, always on carpet. so the case (not unibody) is dented on the sides with ports. All "seem" to work fine except right side USB; looks pushed in and angled, and the plastic trim that fills in space connecting flat top of typing surface to bottom cover has a 4" piece cracked off (kind of looks like where grout would go). Devices work but if you move the wire it's power filckers off and on. Have never used firewire or thunderbolt ports on this.
I would like more USB port options (maybe a high grade extendor???) for Logitech laptop cooler, external HD, VOIP device, wired mouse, wired keyboard (I prefer wired).
Thanks again.Hello Neville,
Thanks for looking in to this and alerting me. I don't know how to interpret all the data in the descriptions of the USBs in your post (or mine, for that matter) Which descriptive line/codes show a USB 1.0 and a USB 2.0. I would like to understand how to read that.
Here's how I determined both are 2.0.
1. I checked my serial number at this Apple link and confirmed it is MacBook Pro 15" Early Version.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4132
2. Then I looked up the technical specifications at this Apple support link:
http://support.apple.com/kb/SP4
3. .Then I double-checked and looked up tech specs at this EveryMac link:
http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/specs/macbook-pro-core-2-duo-2 .4-15-santa-rosa-specs.html
Both links say two USB 2.0 ports. I just took it for granted that they are both correct.
Much appreciation for your help.

How much RAM does the MacBook Pro have?
I need at least 4GB RAM preferably 8GB RAM.... it is for school and i have many games and scrapbook tools for my electives.... please help.
Are you planning on buying a MacBook Pro or do you already have one? Apple sells MBPs (non-Retina) with either 4GB or 8GB of RAM. The problem with buying RAM from Apple is that it's so expensive. If you ordered a 4GB machine, for instance, you could upgrade it yourself to 8GB or 16GB without voiding the warranty.
So if you're buying - go with a 'base' 4GB model and buy the RAM and install it yourself.
