Well what is it that you want to do? You have internet albeit with a landline. You have a computer right? The computer is connected to the interent with an ethernet cable I guess. You can have itunes on your computer and you can connect to your ipad to the computer with a usb cable to sync and transfer content to you ipad but without wifi available for your ipad it limits what you can do on your ipad. For ecxample you cant surf the internet on your ipad

I have an iPad 2 running iOS6.1 that will not connect to my Asus RT-AC66R router when the router is not connected to the internet. The message I get on my iPad is "The cable for ethernet is not plugged in". This also happens with my iPod gen 5.
I'm trying to control Philips Hue bulbs with their Zigbee bridge connected to the router, but I do not want a connection to the internet. The Hue app works with an Android phone and an older iPhone 4 running an older iOS version without the router connected to the internet. The newer iOS6 seems to want to have access to the internet, but having internet access should not be required for this application.
If I do connect the router to the internet, the Hue app works on my iPad2 and it continues to work for a couple of minutes after I disconnect the internet cable. Then I get the message "The cable for ethernet is not plugged in" again. I'm doing this at work where I'm not supposed to connect the router to the work network cable, else it wouldn't be an issue.
