  • Need a sound card recommendation

    Hi:
I've just gotten into using Premiere Pro CS5 and have gotten the rudiments down. I now need to do a voice over and need to know what kind of audio/sound card to be able to record the voice over to a file that can be imported into the program. There are plenty of sound cards out there but all they talk about is how they apply to gaming. So, I need a recomendation for a sound card.
    Thanks in advance,
    M

is voice really the orphan in this forum? Here we get great recommendations to spend thousands of $/€ for NLE HW/SW  and a 200$ piece should be the cure of all voice issues? It's common sense that the ears are not forgiving even slight "errors" in comparision to our eyes (tons of daily broadcasted mobile videos prove this ...)
Jokes aside --> I also own a H4N, but would never go (for serious work) with the WAV file into PPRO (in my small home studio together with AKG C214 mic into a Yamaha N12 digital mixer, DAW Suite from Cubase and Genelec monitors/basswoofer, cost approx 3 K).
Besides the url provided from Harm a quick deep dive can be found here:
    http://izotope.com/products/audio/nectar/index.asp
The advanced video files on this WP show virtually all voice related issues and possibilities to get a broad, impressive and convincing VO sound.

    Thank You.

[QUOTE=dinopkk;576439]Maybe Windows updated your sound card driver to a Microsoft version while you did a Windows update. The Microsoft version may be giving you problem or it may not I am not sure.
    Hi
Windows does update the driver and cause the problem, but the issue is that the new drivers won't work with my sound card.
I've downloaded the drivers from Creative and installed them (again tonight in fact) but the only drivers that don't give me this problem are the ones that came on the CD that came with the card.
If I update to anything else the distortion starts.
I'm running Windows 10 TP build 10041 and it won't let me decide not to update my hardware drivers so it keeps overwriting the drivers that I install.
I have it working again right now (2011 drivers) and I'm making a system image, but as soon as Windows updates again it will start all over.
I wish that up to date drivers would work, when I first had this problem a year ago, I found a lot of other people having the same problem but no solutions.
My best option may just to buy a different type of sound card.
    Mike

  • Do you need a sound card?

hello, I currently do not have an ipod, but am thinking of getting an ipod nano, 2nd gen. My laptop's sound doesn't work I guess because it's sound card doesn't work. Will I still be able to connect and drag and drop songs to the ipod, and will it sync?

Your laptop/soundcard is not relevent to the iPod and it's ability to work. If you can install iTunes 7 to it then you will be able to sync music to your iPod.

  • Do I need a sound card?

I am currently running my monitors through a UCA200 usb device into my Imac I have the sound output for the mac all the way up and the input trim on the monitors all the way up as well they should be absolutely pumping but are not playing that loud so I am wondering if running through a sound card instead of the usb device will improve them and what ones are good

In this case your Behringer is basically the interface for a built in soundcard... it is the soundcard in a way. With an iMac, you don't have the ability to add a traditional motherboard additional soundcard. So you are in effect having to add a USB or Firewire bussed "soundcard".
Still awake? Like the above poster said, the problem is the overall low quality of the Behringer interface, which I notice sells for about twenty bones. Find a better interface, and Firewire would be better, and you'll be getting better ability to monitor through it. Good luck, L
