Please Insert Disc....Burning Disc Initializing (Repeated)

Hi,
I've the newest version of iTunes on my laptop which is a Vista...Im trying to back up iTunes with data discs. It said I required 9, the first one burnt fine. On the second disc, iTunes kept repeating "Please Insert Disc" then "Burning Disc Initializing".
Can anyone help as this is very frustrating
Thanks

Nowadays people don't back up to CD/DVD. They get an *external hard drive* and copy over their entire iTunes folder, and whatever else they are backing up.
The advantages are (1) this method does not depend on iTunes's horribly unreliable burning capability (2) you can look at the external and see that the stuff you backed up is really there. (If you want to see an unhappy person, it is when they try to restore from CD/DVD and discover that it did not burn correctly in the first place.) (3) it lets you back up your other valuable files besides your music.

  • Just powered down and moved my iMac and when powered back up all it says is no bootable disc-please insert disc and hit any key......what do I do?

when starting up my iMac (had just moved it from one room to another, was working fine) it only shows on the screen "no bootable disc...please insert disc and hit any key".....what do I do?

That sounds like a message from a DOS-based computer. A Mac would just show a folder with a question mark, unless they've changed things recently. Do you have a BootCamp partition?
Try holding down the option key immediately after the Chime. You should go into the startup manager and it will show all bootable drives. Pick yours, then go into System Preferences and set your startup disk.
Next would be to try a Safe Boot by holding down the shift key right after the chime until you see the gray screen. It will take a while to boot up as it is running some disk checks.

  • RE: Topic : Please Insert Disc....Burning Disc Initializing (Repeated)

Unbelievable. So the solution is: buy more stuff? There's no friggin way I'm doing that, I have a stack of perfectly fine dvds and frankly I wanna be reimbursed for the dvds I've had to blow through just to get to this point. I can barely afford fuel much less an external hard drive
Problem I'm referring to: iTunes backup (dvd) runs just fine until a second dvd is inserted. iTunes then bounces back and forth telling me to either "Please Insert a Blank Disc..." or "Burning Disc...Initializing" with no end in sight. Help please

I have the same problem. Only disc 1 of a multi disc backup will burn, after which itunes refuses to see any further discs as blank and continues to prompt me for a blank one. I have wasted several dual layers due to starting over and thinking it was my discs.

  • CS2 - Purchased legal version - Please Insert Disc 2 into Drive

    Hello,
I am running Windows XP SP4.
I purchased my copy from someone who was selling out their old CS2 Premium version on Ebay. Came with all 6 discs and 2 backup CD's, 2 books, serial numbers, and some old coupons.
My old version was Illustrator 8.0, and I thought I got a nice price for the full CS2 package.
I had some initial trouble with my first cd/dvd drive spitting the CD back out and refusing to read it. I switched to an External Drive and the first disc installed.
Now, however, no matter what I do, and I've tried turning the drive off and back on again. It loads the disc, it looks all green lights and ready. I click OK of the two options OK or Cancel. And my disc drive spits the disc out. I've tried holding the drive door shut and keeping it there. Probably not good for the drive but it insists on spitting my cd out every time. I try to start it on disc 2.
Also some curiousities of note, Adobe installer notified me that I now could use Adobe Photoshop at any time as it was now installed, but instead I find Adobe Bridge has installed, no sign of a photoshop anywhere.

    Download the installers from here:

  • Please insert disc?

when i insert the CS4 Master Collection disc, the installation runs and everything is fine but when i select what to install and hit continue, it asks for the disc. I KNOW FOR A FACT that the disc is there but it won't continue.
Does anybody know whats wrong and how to fix it? pleez help me!

Are you sure the disk that's in the drive is the right disk? Master Collection has more than one, and since you aren't installing all of the apps you may be skipping over what's left on disk 1.

  • Priemier Elements 12 pops up a error screen when opening project." No disc in drive E.Please insert

Priemier Elements 12 pops up a error screen when opening project." No disc in drive E.Please insert disc to continue." My DVD drives are  F and D. What do I have to do to get rid of this error?

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on?
In versions of Premiere Elements earlier than 12, the answer for that type of "No disc" message was usually related to SmartSound/Sonicfire Pro 5 feature. But, there is no SmartSound/SonicfirePro 5 feature in version 12, only Music Scores without the SmartSound name.
Consequently, I would suggest an uninstall, do a ccleaner run through (regular cleaner and registry cleaner parts), reinstall.

  • No disc in the drive. Please install disc into drive E.

I have contacted your customer tech service via chat. They worked with me for three hours today and passed me off to the forums because they couldn't speak English and couldn't figure out the answer to my problem, even after taking control of my computer.
What my problem is, is that I just bought both photoshop and Premiere elements 13. Photoshop seems to work fine.
When I click on Premiere Elements 13 I get an error box that reads: There is no disc in the drive. Please insert disc into drive E.
Adobe chat support seemed to think it was enough that the program was installed correctly. They couldn't figure out how to get rid of the dang error box that disappears after 7 to 10 clicks anywhere on the box. This error box pops up when I enter the program or leave it. Its appearance every time I use the program or leave the program is annoying and unacceptable as we will be opening and closing the program constantly.
I have completely taken off my antivirus program so it wouldn't be a factor in this. I have reinstalled the program about ten times literally, including one tedious download from your website. The error message still continues to pop up.
I am running Windows 8 on a brand new computer. 16 GB RAM with 64 bit processor.
Hope you can help because I am very annoyed after six hours of this irritation.

Sorry I meant that I have a 64 bit operating system and the processor is Intel Core i7-337CPU @3.40GHz   3.90Ghz

  • Help please - iTunes disc burner or software not found... with full troubleshooting details

In iTunes 11.1.3.8 on my Windows 8 HP Laptop, when trying to "Burn Playlist to Disc", I get the Burn Settings window "E: hp DVD A DS8A9SH", then I select MP3 CD and click "Burn", I unfortunately get the dreaded iTunes "disc burner or software not found...". I think this is the second time this has happened (first time I think a simple reboot fixed it), and I assume because iTunes was updated this issue came back again and I cannot burn MP3 cds anymore because of it!
I've followed all steps outlined in this support article "iTunes for Windows: Optical drive is no longer recognized, or "Disc burner or software not found" alert after install" (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2308)
Solution 1, no updated firmware was available for dvd drive.
Solution 2, not relevant because those files were not present when I looked for them.
Solution 3, I'm familiar with regedit and did exactly what the step by step instructions told me including rebooting multiple times to completely remove Gear drivers/keys, installing the new Gear driver files with their official setup file "For 32-bit and 64-bit systems:" from http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.php (and gave another reboot just in case) and opened iTunes at the very end of the entire process.
Still getting the dreaded "disc burner or software not found..." error when trying to burn a playlist to a CD. The weird thing is when I click Burn playlist to a CD, I see the DVD drive "E:  in the next prompt which asks for Data CD/MP3 CD, Audio CD.
So I clicked on Help > Run Diagnostics, selected "CD/DVD Drive tests" only and clicked "Next".
Window says "To begin the test, please insert a prerecorded audio cd..." so I did that and clicked "Next".
Under "Choose an optical drive to test:", the drop-down menu only shows "[Choose a Drive]", no other options. Under "Optical drive:" it says "No drive chosen for testing.", and I click the "Next" button.
Here are the diagnostics output I got:

I'm extremely confused as to what to do next. I was thinking I should try reinstalling iTunes but I'm not sure that would even work and I'm so paranoid about installing it correctly and referencing the right existing library files that I'd like to see other suggestions first.
Any help from the community or Apple would be tremendously appreciated and I would be glad to do more testing and provide more details. Thanks!

  • Itunes no longer recognizes any blank discs I insert for burning.

While recently trying to burn a cd from my iTunes library, the program didn't recognize any blank discs I inserted. It kept saying 'please insert blank disc'. Every other program on my pc will recognize these blank discs which are brand new and of top quality. What gives ?

Have a look at this article in the Apple Knowledge Base, in particular the section Burner software conflicts, and let us know if it solves your problem.

  • Please Insert A Blank Disc...

Whenever we choose "Burn playlist to disc" and insert a blank CD-R, we get the message "Please insert a blank disc.." although the disc is brand-new and blank. We have tried lowering the burning speed to 8x and 2x, have purchased HP and Philips CD-Rs, disabling antivirus software, checking for updated device drivers, but nothing seems to help. We used to be able to burn discs before we upgraded to iTunes 7.0.2. If you can't help us burn discs with this version, is there any way to go back to the previous version of iTunes?

Dear Margolis2007 - Well, this did not solve the problem but it is a way around it. We have a Toshiba DVD/CD R/RW drive that plugs into a USB port that we tried, and so far we have been able to burn two CDs. So there must be an incompatability with iTunes and our other CD burner (although it worked with previous versions of iTunes). Yes, it would be ridiculous to go buy one of these drives just to burn iTunes CDs but it may be the only choice.

  • "Please insert a blank disc..."   I HAVE!

I have an iMac 2.8 Core Duo. I'm running OS 10.5.2 and iTunes 7.6.1.
I open iTunes, go to a playlist, hit the "burn disc" button and it prompts me to "Please insert a blank disc..." I do. I've insert several brands. But iTunes doesn't recognize the blank disc. It just keeps asking "Please insert a blank disc..." After a few moments I get this pop up "You inserted a blank CD. Choose an action from the pop-up menu or click Ignore. My action options are "Open iTunes", "Open Finder", and "Open Disc Utility". I've tried all three, nothing works.
Without iTunes running, if I insert the blank CD disc, it shows up on my desktop -- so I know the disc is being recognized by my iMac, but why not iTunes?
Is anyone else having a similar problem and does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
    Bill

    Hi,
same here, with latest iTunes 7.6.2. I've tried with brand new Sony CD-R and JVC CD-R: no luck. Strangely, even my Toast 7.0.2 is doing weird things: when I have no CD in the superdrive it tells me that I have a CD-RW not writable. Whenever I insert a blank cd-r, it spits it out. The only way I succeded burning a CD lately, but a ISO not a audio, is with DiskUtility.
I have the impression that's something wrong with some OS components managing the superdrive rather than the applications themselves.
    Curious to know more soon.

MSI have suggested flashing the bios with Beta 1.5 and upgdating the inf driver but how without a floppy I dont know at the moment.

"Tried 2 diff psu's, 3 diff drives and 2 diff ribbon cables."
i was talking about power cable, not to PSU, not to ribbon cable, not to drive itself.., ensure power cable from PSU to the floppy is connected property and filled well.
"MSI have suggested flashing the bios with Beta 1.5 and upgdating the inf driver but how without a floppy I dint know at the moment."
have a look here:  (P.S: what inf driver.... your floppy doesn't work outside windows too....)

latest one available is 1.5 B3, you will need a USB key.
but i have doubt that BIOS update will help with that.

  • Problem installing CS6: Please insert disk AdobeDesignWebPremium6-EnglishJapan to continue. Only have one disc.

I purchased Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium on disk.  I went to install it today and when the installation got to 2%, it stated "Please insert disk AdobeDesignWebPremium6-EnglishJapan to continue".  I only have the one disk.  Why is it asking me for another one?  I see others have the same problem, but were downloading from the website.  Someone please help me.  It would take forever for me to download, that is why I purchased the disk.  I'm desperate and behind on my work (as I was supposed to receive the disk weeks ago, and it just came to me today).

    Thanks, Klad!  It worked!!!
