Please make a charge plate to USB converter.

I really want to charge it from my car to USB to the wireless charging plate. I have everything setup except the power connection to my car. Pretty please.

Good news! Audiovox have announced their new Wireless Charging Cradle for in-car use. It uses the Chi standard so will be compatible with the 920. It should be available from the summer of 2013.

BlackBerry PlayBook battery power charge, discharge characteristics, and guidance on extending battery life
    KB27705
    Overview
The BlackBerry PlayBook may come to a power state where it is unable to power on; a Yellow LED may flash in a sequence of 5 flashes, the BlackBerry PlayBook may boot up to the BlackBerry PlayBook Logo and then power off, may not power on at all.
    Discharge behavior under normal use:
Under normal active use, a battery drained to 10% will cause the device to prompt the BlackBerry PlayBook user (notification and audible beep)
Without connecting a charger the device will automatically shut down at 3.53V (0%)
Pressing the power button may allow successful boot, but it will turn off again very quickly
    Discharge behavior under no use:
A device left unused but in ‘Stand By’ will warn the BlackBerry PlayBook user at 10% (notification and audible beep)
The warning may not be noticed and the device will go back to ‘Stand By’
Letting the device drain in standby mode drains the battery slower, but more completely
Device will still shut off at 3.53V (0%), but it less likely to successfully boot afterwards
    Discharge behavior under 3.53V (0%):
If the device is left to shutoff, the battery will continue to drain below 3.53V due to quiescent current draw from the motherboard and the battery fuel gauge
With the battery between 2.7V-3.53V, pressing the power button causes the LED to flash a pattern (1 solid red light followed by 5 yellow blinks)  to indicate low battery (PlayBook Tablet OS version 1.0.5, and above)
Below 2.7V there is no activity, or LED pattern displayed
    Charge Behaviour:
The provided charger should be used to charge the device. The optional 12 volt rapid charger is may reduce charging times
to approximately 3 to 4 hrs. Standard Blackberry smartphone chargers, other AC adapter USB chargers, or computer USB ports
are not recommended for the sole purpose of charging the PlayBook as with these methods it may take more that 12 hours to
    charge the BlackBerry Playbook.
If the battery voltage is below 3.53V(0%) then the charging behaviour is dependent on the software version.  The charging code will limit the charging current to under 400 milliamps, during which time, it may take an hour to reach 3.53 Volts. Once the battery voltage rises past 3.53 volts, then "high-rate" charging will start. If, after charging the Tablet for 4 to 6 hours still does not result in LED activity, attempt to force power on the BlackBerry Playbook by pressing and holding only the Power Button for only 20 seconds.
Prior to BlackBerry Tablet OS 1.0.5:
A BlackBerry PlayBook will never charge while powered off in BlackBerry Tablet OS versions prior to 1.0.5.
The device will show a red light when the charger is connected and then nothing more
Repeated connection of the charger can recover the device in some instances.
Once the battery voltage rises above 3.53V the system will boot and the UI will show charging
Starting in BlackBerry Tablet OS 1.0.5:
The device will show a solid red LED, followed by a solid yellow LED as the device boots into charging mode.  This is followed by a yellow pulsating LED indicating charging in progress.
The time span between the red and yellow lights can be as long as 45 seconds as the device boots into charging mode.
Once the yellow LED illuminates, the device can be started, but it is advisable to let it charge for at least 3.5 hours to achieve a sufficient charge.
The device will show a solid green LED once the device is fully charged.
Starting in BlackBerry Tablet OS 2.0.1:
Once the yellow LED begins pulsating indicating charging mode, if the BlackBerry PlayBook is disconnected from the charger, the following graphic will be displayed on the screen, indicating charging is not complete, and to reconnect the power source. The graphic will be displayed for 20 seconds before the BlackBerry® PlayBook powers off if the power source is not reconnected. The same graphic will also be displayed if the BlackBerry PlayBook is turned on and there is not sufficient power to perform the boot process.
If the BlackBerry PlayBook is plugged into a power source, and the power button is pressed to power on the device, the following graphic will be displayed if there is not sufficient power to perform the boot process. If this occurs, the BlackBerry PlayBook should be left plugged in to gain enough charge to boot.
    Additional Information

With the upgrade to PlayBook OS 2.1.0.1032 the following message may be displayed when connecting the Playbook to a PC using the micro-USB cable:
Unable to charge battery with connected source
This message is displayed because the voltage provided is insufficient for charging. The USB voltage is limited to 384mA even if the maximum tolerance is 500mA. The voltage is limited to 384mA by design to avoid violating the USB specification which states USB devices cannot draw more than 500mA from the USB port.

  • Charge Battery through USB without Loading Software?

    Hi All,
Anyone who can please assist; would appreciate it.  Have been trying to investigate whether a Blackberry Battery can be charged via USB (Connected to a PC or Laptop) without having the Blackberry Desktop Software loaded.
Currently I have the Blackberry 8900 but even with the previous versions; I have never been able to charge my phone without having the Software loaded. Unfortunately my laptop is loaded with Windows XP 2002 Service Pack 2 and when loading the Software it seems to mess with the speed and sometimes ends Outlook and gives me a Blue ERROR screen which then I have to switch off my PC and then switch on after 5 minutes only. This sometimes happens 3 times in one day?
    Please advise, anyone, anyone!!!!

Also, check that you are using only root USB ports...no hubs (sometimes the front-side ports are hubs...use a rear USB port). And make sure to try disabling USB power management in your system configuration (Device Manager).

  • Help needed: blackberry keeps resetting or won't turn on after charging, especially via USB

This is a bit of an odd one and I'd appreciate any help that others can give me.
I've had my blackberry 8900 for about a year and a half now.
Whenever I charge my handset from an empty battery (e.g. this problem isn't a problem when I charge it if there's still some charge left) - either from the main power charger or via USB, I experience problems.
Whenever it's fully charged I unplug the charger and normally at this point it cuts out completely. The screen goes black and cuts out - it doesn't even go through the normal switch-off process. From then, it won't turn on for around 3 - 4 minutes (the red light occasionally appears on the top, although it's fully charged).
When it does turn on, it goes through a soft reset.
This is more of a problem when I charge it via USB but equally affects charging it from the mains as well.
    Any ideas?

It's fixable. First, charge it for several hours and then WITH the
charger still connected, remove the battery a minute and replace, and
    reboot.
If that does not do it, and it continues in the reboot loop
    1)
Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
    2)
On your PC, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line
exactly (meaning with the quotation marks):
    "c:\program
    files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm
    3)
The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
    4) In
the "Connection:" drop-down menu, you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN".
    Click the "Next" button.
    5) You should then see a list of
applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Hit Next and
Finish and you are well on your way to getting your Blackberry back to
life. Just don't disconnect anything and let the lengthy process finish
    completely.
NOTE: If you do not see a list of applications
mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop
Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that
you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service
provider or system administrator," then you must download Blackberry's
Operating System for your carrier and device.
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/BlackBerry_Operating_System_Downloads
    Just
select the appropriate carrier and network type, select your Blackberry
model from the list and download the latest version. Install this
download and follow the above steps again and you should be on the right
    path.

  • Lumia 920 Wireless Charging plate car adaptor?

    Hello guys,
I really want to connect my wireless charging plate to my car. Maybe convert it to USB since USB car adapter can be found everywhere. Anyone knows where I can buy such converter?
    Thank you.

I believe that the corded connection from the wireless charging plate is a 2.5mm connection, and thus won't connect to USB and therefore there are no accessories. 2mm chargers and 2.5mm charger connections are usually the Nokia proprietary technology, so unless you solder one yourself, I doubt you will find what you are looking for, my friend.

  • Iphone 4S will not charge, error that USB device not working, found any suggestions?

iphone 4S will not charge, error that USB device not working, found any suggestions?

    Hello Chambless,
The troubleshooting steps below can help get your iPhone to charge.
If your battery doesn't charge, or if your device shows a low-battery image, black screen, or "accessory not supported" alert, follow these steps.
Inspect the connector at the bottom of the phone:
Make sure that there are no bent pins in the connector.
Make sure that the connector is free from debris.
If there are bent pins or debris, please contact Apple Support.
    Otherwise, continue troubleshooting.
Make sure that the outlet you're using works.
Make sure that the Apple USB cable and Apple USB power adapter work.
Plug the device in to power and let it charge for up to 30 minutes. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, try connecting to a computer's high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be on.
If the device still exhibits an issue, try turning your device off and then on again while connected to power.
If the issue is persists, please contact Apple Support.

  • How to install and use the CP2102 USART to USB Converter?

First off, I did a quick search and found that some people had had success in that the cp210x driver was already installed on their machines. I did a modprobe and it returned nothing (not an error).
I searched around on the net a bit and found a very useful USART to USB converter bridge (http://www.nexuscyber.com/cp2102-usb-to … Mgod5UQAdQ). The CP2102 is a programmable device with many settings insofar as the data framing is concerned. As such, a driver for the device must be used to interface and modify these parameters.
On the Silabs website I found this driver (http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/page … ivers.aspx) for linux (kernel > 3.x.x). The problem is that this driver is just a single C program with zero documentation. An include make file is about as useful considering it has a single line in it that fails (for me) at run-time.
    obj-m = cp210x.o
    KVERSION = $(shell uname -r)
    all:
    make -C /lib/modules/$(KVERSION)/build M=$(PWD) modules

There is no documentation aside from:
    make ( your cp210x driver )
    cp cp210x.ko to /lib/modules/<kernel-version>/kernel/drivers/usb/serial
    insmod /lib/modules/<kernel-version/kernel/drivers/usb/serial/usbserial.ko

Can anyone provide some guidance on the steps to install this driver (or at least where to look) and why there is such a lack of documentation? Are there assumptions here that I am not aware of? How is anyone suppose to use this? If you look in the source there are structures being used as arguments to functions that are never defined as far as I can tell. Perhaps they are part of the header files included at the top, but I could not find some of those on my machine either.
Has anyone had success using this device?

First, I think you have a mismatched Baud.  Check your settings in GtkTerm.  It could also be the uController.  I know you said you have it set for 9600 Baud, but are you sure?  The divisor settings are dependent on your clock frequency.  Are you sure you are using the correct divisors for the frequency of your crystal?  And are you using a crystal, ceramic oscillator, or external oscillator for your time base?
I did not think the internal RC oscillators were that bad off, so I was using the internal 8MHz (DIV8 = 0 fuse bit). Taking your advice I just refused the AVR and set it to use a 20MHz clock (external crystal oscillator) to no avail. The setting in GTKterm is certainly 9600 baud.Referencing the datasheet for the Atmega328P we have:
Which gives a a UBRR register value of 129 corresponding to normal speed (U2Xn = 0). This is all computed for me at compile-time via this formula:
    20,000,000/(16*9600) - 1 = 129.2 ~ 129 truncated.
That the two devices can communicate tells me they both might be using the same wrong Baud.
I was also suspicious of this .. I do not have a trivial way to test this though. Perhaps some workaround using timers is about the best I can do; no oscilloscope here. Doing a quick high-level test I did find something rather interesting though. Both devices are set to run at 9600 baud. One device is operating at 8MHz (internal oscillator) and the other is using an external 20MHz crystal. I am getting UART communication between the devices, but certainly not the characters I'm sending..
The other problem is that I think you have "Local Echo" turned on in GtkTerm.  This places the system in "Half Duplex" mode in which data are not expected to be echoed from the Atmel.  That you are getting two characters when the pins are shorted tells me you get the local echo and the loopback.  Then the loopback is missing, you still get the local echo.   Also, make sure you have parity turned off.
GTKterm does not actually show you what you are typing into the terminal. That is, when you type a character then nothing is displayed to the screen. Presumably this character is sent out as you type it. I was under the impression that local echo would just echo what I type to the screen as well as send it out. Thank you for the clarification.

  • My ipad won't charge with the usb cable

I took my Ipad on vacation with only my usb cable, expecting to charge off another computer. No charge! Since then I have tried several other cables, no luck. Is my Ipad problematic?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • MAX can't find serial to USB converter COM3

    Hello friends,
I am using serial to USB converter for communicating the instruments.
I install drivers successfully and device manager shows COM3.
But when I go MAX 5.5 , I cannot see the COM3 port in  device and interface.
Please tell me solution of this.

    Dennis,
You are totally right, it was a mistake from me. We do not see com connections under data acquisition devices.
Haris115, can you tell which drivers and which versions did you install? You can see it on MAX. And which OS are you using?
I just want to be sure there is the correct compatibility.
    Thank you

  • RS232-to-USB converter

I have an electronic which is connected to either RS-232 serial or USB. Since the electronic cable has a RS-232 adapter, I have to use RS232-to-USB converter to make it compatible with USB port. My LabView application runs well with RS-232 port but doesn't work with USB port. The problem is that, if I use my own laptop which has LabView 7.1 installed, the problem disappears. The electronic works well with both rs-232 and USB. However, the problem appears again in other computers regardless of its version (I tried XP and 2000). I installed NI-VISA and NI-Serial. I surely checked serial port & I/O support when making an installation file. None of the methods has solved my problem yet. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Hello,
I have a few questions, the answers to which may help you and clarify the problem:
    1. Can you connect directly to your computer via rs-232... do you need to use the USB port?
    2. When you say, "My LabView application runs well with RS-232 port but doesn't work with USB port." what specifically do you mean? Do you get an error? If so, what error? Can you attach a screenshot of the behavior?
    3. When you plug the USB-RS-232 converter into your PC, do you have access to the RS-232 resource at all? For example, if you select, Start -> Programs -> National Instruments -> VISA -> VISA Interactive Control do you see the RS-232 resource there? Can you perform a loopback test (to do this wire pins 2 and 3, and simply write and read to that serial port)?
    4. Do you have any NI Serial HW products? You won't need NI-Serial installed simply to communicate with built in serial ports (or in your case a USB-RS-232 device, which should show up as an RS-232 serial port); NI-VISA will be sufficient.
Thanks and I look forward to your repost!

  • Usb converter cable help needed

I am trying to use an external microphone for iMovies.  It apears I can use a USB microphone I have, after talking to someone at Apple.
However, I need a cable which will connect the non-rectangular end of a usb cable to a 30 pin connector.  Or the newer connector if that's going to be easier.
Apple sells usb converter cables which have the "rectangular" end of a usb cable which leads to the 30 pin (obviously becuase it's the connector with the power brick).  But I need one with the different end -- the end that generally sticks into the printer or other device -- which will then connect with a 30  pin connector.  it's not a trapezoid, but more of that than a square.
Does anyone know where I can find this?  Do I need to worry where it's made?  I ask becuase I've used some Belkin cables in the past with iPods and had some issues with them connecting cleanly.  I've looked on the Apple site and seen ones that say they're for cameras, so I feared they were for the mini-usb connectors, or wouldn't work for some othere reason.
    Help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

It sounds like your mic has USB B, while the standard is USB A.
THe camera connection kit comes with a USB to 30 pin, but it's regular USB, which is A, not USB B. So maybe a USB B female to USB A male converter? Plug your mic into the converter then the converter into the apple connector.
But unless your mic is powered, I'm not sure if the iPad will power the mic through a converter, so whatever you play with you may want to make sure they have a good return policy.
If you try to use the lightning connection, which is the newer one, may be even more problimatic simply because iOS 7.0.4 activated software that looks for signed chips in plugins and those signed chips are only authorized to companies that have gotten apple's permission to make the connector.....which adds another element of 'might not work' to the whole thing.
