Please make new features in Lion optional

Dear Sir/Madam,
First, I have to say after playing Lion for 2 weeks, I think Lion is really cool and improves many usability.
But, one thing that I have noticed is that many new features are not necessary for all Mac users. E.g Auto-saving is not needed as many applications already supporting it (Office applications). This is a useful feature but I really want to save these system resources for my development work.
I am a developer and I have the corei7 macbook pro with 8gb ram. During my development, my applications would use almost all 8GB ram.
So I recommend that giving us an update to allow users to turn on the new features as they wish.
Also I don't think Lion is as reliable as snow leopard. I am not sure if this is caused by any of the unstable functionalities?
I love Mac and many other apple products. But please be aware of the reliability of the OS and don't make Lion another Windows Vista.

Make new features "Plugins" so we can take them or leave them

I am seeing a trend. Adobe is putting in new features and sometime breaking old ones in the process. Why not add features as "plugins" so users can choose which ones they want?
A perfect example are the new features in AI CC 17.1. After upgrading, I see the pencil/smooth tools are no longer seamlessly integrated like they were in version 17.0 and all other recent version of AI. But because I upgraded, I'm now forced to go back to CS6 or CS5 to get my pencil/smooth tool back. If it were a plugin I could choose to accept the Live Corner tool and reject the new, "improve" Pencil tool.

Please be aware that you are not communicating with Apple when you post in these forums. Most of the people who will reply to your posts are, like me, your fellow users.
As to the problem, nothing has changed in your ability to add music to iTunes regardless of the source assuming that the format of the music is something iTunes can play - Apple has not restricted iTunes in any way other than the same limitations in supported format that have been present for years - so either there's a misunderstanding in how you're trying to add the music to iTunes or something's amiss with iTunes on your system. Please explain in detail what you're trying to do, specifically the source of the music, how you're trying to add it to iTunes, and where things are breaking down and someone here can probably help.

Feature Request. Please, please, please make file name a sort option.

I find it a glaring omission that one cannot sort by file name in
PE or Organizer.

Please: Make search feature to pinpoint songs in multiple playlists

There is no way to locate certain songs in multiple playlists, only searching songs in individual playlists or searching in the whole "Music" list.
Is there any update that iTunes can create so I when I search for a song it can also *highlight whether that song is located in certain playlists (not just a huge music folder)*
I have thousands and thousands of songs and I need to be able to locate them within different compartmentalized playlists (not just widely on the Music broadlist)
Please take this suggest when making the newest update for iTunes 10+

The following does not work:
Option-click on any song and look at Show in playlist to reveal which playlists that song is in.
It should read Control-click.
I was just doing a search to find out how to do what you're asking about. As you've probably discovered, option-click doesn't do anything. Hold down the control key and click on a song, then in the window that opens, go down to Show in Playlist and it will show you which playlists that song is in. If you then click on the song, it will bring you to the playlist that song is in.
I agree with you that it would be nice to have this feature clearly labeled, and make it easier to use. Like you, I have thousands of songs, dozens of playlists for different purposes. I just wanted to make sure a number of songs were distributed across a number of different playlists, and couldn't believe I'd have to manually search through all my folders and playlists. Glad I found this to at least get me on the right track so I could figure out how to do it. Still wish it was easier (even a keyboard command), but it's certainly better than nothing.

Please make "Copyright Status" an editable option in creating metadata templates

I'm new to the Adobe eLearning suite, including Bridge CS4. I've found a workaround in the forums for this issue already, but I really think this is something that Adobe should fix in the Bridge software itself. Apologies if someone else has already posted this as a feature request in this forum, but as it seems I'm unable to search within just this forum, I gave up looking.
In a nutshell: "Copyright Status" should be a field available when choosing what IPTC Core metadata to include in a new metadata template. And it's also not an editable field when looking at the metadata for an image! The whole point of metadata templates is to make it unnecessary to edit a single field (like "Copyright Status") one image at a time. Yet even with the new Bridge CS4, the Copyright Status field is not an option you can include in a new metadata template. Surely it wouldn't be that big a deal to make the 3-item pick list of "Unknown," "Copyrighted" and "Public Domain" available on the Create Metadata Template checklist. Or if having a pick list is too tricky to code on that form and it must be just a checkbox item, do that, and let us populate the text in the field ourselves.
Currently, it's necessary to tweak the metadata on a single image to include the "Copyrighted" status, then Export it and save it as a new metadata template, just to have that one field populated by default. Supplying copyright status as part of a template is a fundamental need for anyone creating or dealing with large numbers of images, and it shouldn't require a workaround to create a properly inclusive metadata template.

In Bridge CS4, highlight your thumbnail, go to the File Menu and select File and then File Info. There you will be able to choose your Copyright Status under the Description tab. What a pain in the butt! Mine kept coming up "Public Domain!"

Apples New Features Leopard/Lion

I should work for Apple, I thought the features full screen and launch pad were the way for Mac OS to go since the first iphones started coming out, however I would really like to be able to get just these features for Snow leopard because I'm not so keen on the changes in finder and the whole "reversed scrolling" stuff. Any chance you will release them as a kind of "add on" upgrade type thing.

Cocoa Launcher has been an almost exact replica of the old Launcher Control panel from Mac OS 9.

That said, you can make a Launcher out of Mac OS X 10.6 using folders in the Dock.
As for full screen, there are those of us who see that feature added to Lion and aren't too comfortable with it. There are times where full screen makes sense, but other times it does not. Mac OS has always been about muscle memory in the user interface. If you can remember where it is located, you'll naturally move the pointer where you need to go without having to hunt and peck it. The shift from Mac OS 9 to Mac OS X was hard getting used to, but not as hard as finding menus in every window. I for one hope that never happens to Mac OS. But who am I to say what happens. I do put in my feedback like everyone else.

I think it's also possible you don't quite understand how multitasking works on the iPhone. Most of the apps you see when you double tap the Home button are not running. They are recently used. Very, very few apps actually run in the background. Apps that do continue to work in the background are apps that play music or use GPS.

please make an 5.0 option for your soundcards. There are still some people out there with high-end speaker systems. "These" people don't need a subwoofer, because they have full range front speakers (40hz -20khz +-3 db and at 30 hz -6 db). Most surround reci'vers have a bass management where you can redirect the LFE ( the ./"effect channel"/the subwoofer)to the fronts. So pls implement an LFE to front redirection into your drivers for audigy and x-fi, I think this can't be too difficult, because there are 4.0 and 2.0 option available.
That is possible with my cheap onboard soundcard :-), so please show that creative is still the captain :-).

I think there is no problem in doing that yourself. As LFE is currently only used by DVD Movies, (and EAX 5.0, if the developer implements that specific part), you only need to do redirection with your AC-3 decoder. If you download AC3Filter, you can use a matrix to say where every signal should go, essentially doing the redirection process you speak about.

Feature Request - Please allow for a "classic" view option.

Please allow for a "classic" view option like you have in Mail. Miss the sidebar that had a list of all the calendars using. The pop up list is not nearly as functional. iCal in Lion may be great for touch screen users but is a step back on the intuitive scale for Mac users.
Also, the delete / revert button are too close to the done button. Too easy to hit on accident.

I can't find any link to do this. I found a page where you can request songs or an album to be added, but i can't find a page to submit my suggestions for itunes i have for new features i'd like to see

As of now there is no good, direct link for feedback on iTunes itself. Writing Apple might be the best option, with the website feedback page perhaps the next best.
