How do I make pages spell check my footnotes?

I am using a trial version of iWork pages 09 (have bought the software), but it doesn't seem to spell check the text in the footnotes, either as I type (so it underlines errors in red) or when I select the text and choose spell check from the right click menu. Please help, it's REALLY annoying!

Current Firefox versions hide Check Spelling in the right-click context menu of a text area if the web page disables the spelling check via a spellcheck="false" attribute of this element.
You can right-click in the text editor area and use "Inspect Element" to see if this text area has a spellcheck="false" attribute.
Removing this spellcheck="false" attribute by selecting it via a double-click and using the Delete or Backspace key should make the Check Spelling item in the right-click context menu reappear.

Is there a way to make the spell check work on the entire web page without making the content editable? Or at least those boxes that appear when you enable spell check on the entire page, can you make them disappear?

I found an addon that allows you to spell check on the webpage but it make the entire page editable and these boxes appear on everything i highlight. Can i get rid of the boxes?

I had thought this situation was solved but it just got worse. In addition to being without service for several days I am now being charged a cancellation fee for a broadband service that BT disconnected in error. BT Vision was also terminated by BT but the set up charges are still in place. Does anyone know who the relevant Ombudsman is? I called BT from America on Friday - for an hour - while someone called Aruj sorted out why there is an order 'in progress' that I didn't initiate; why I have fees relating to a problem created by BT and why there are references to a house move that didn't take place and a BT Vision service I no longer have but didn't cancel myself. He assured me it would be rectified and my bill would be reduced by 139 pounds and we would get confirmation of this later that day. I asked him what chance there was that this would not actually happen - he said no chance at all; my new bill would be 23.50.
There was no text message. An online chat person today told me there had been a fee reduction request which had been declined and there was nothing else he could help me with as he dealt only with broadband. But he would get BT Vision to email me. They always seem so helpful.............
I'm sure I'm listed somewhere as 'a problem', there's no other explanation for why I get the runaround

How to make sure spell-check in the right language?

The Windows 7 operating system in use is set to Australian English, and so is the Microsoft Office 2010 installed.
For some reason, the Word installed like this web site does not recognize Australian words such as 'leukaemia' and 'favour' which I believe are the British or Australian spelling. It insists on 'leukemia' and 'favor' respectively.
Have I missed something?

You will need to ensure the proofing language for the document is now set to Australian English (via Ctrl-A, then Review>Language>Set Proofing Language). While there, make sure the 'Do not check spelling or grammar' option is
not checked and click on the 'Set As Default' button. Then go to File|Options|Proofing and click on 'Check Document'.
As I said before I can't make any change on Review>Language>Set Proofing Language. Both English (Australia) and English (U.S.) are checked. I have both options at the bottom unchecked. They are ""Do not check spelling or
grammar" and "Detect language automatically". The latter was checked before but it didn't make any difference.
I am logged in as a standard user only but it shouldn't make any difference.

Spell Check Not working in Office 2013

I can not get spell check to work at all in Outlook nor Word documents. I need real basic instructions please.
I tried this idea from a prior post, but there is no dictionary file to pick. Any other ideas?
If so, back up all these files. Add the custom dictionaries via:
Click the
File tab.

Options.

Proofing.
Make sure the
Suggest from main dictionary only check box is cleared.

Custom Dictionaries.
Click
Add.
Locate the folder containing the custom dictionary you want, and then double-click the dictionary file.

I tried this idea from a prior post, but there is no dictionary file to pick.
Are there any dictionaries listed in the Dictionary List when you click
File > Options > Proofing > Custom Dictionaries? If so, please make sure the check boxes before these dictionaries are ticked.

Spelling & Grammar button?
If you mean spell check not working as you type, please go to File > Options > Proofing and select the check box before "Check spelling as you type".
If above didn't apply, please try to rename your Word template file (Normal.dotm) to Normal.old and then restart Word to check if it helps.

InDesign CC - Spell check not working.

I can purposefully type a misspelled word in InDesign and the Spell Check doesn't catch it. In fact it doesn't seem to work at all.

- Please provide screen shot of the dictionary preferences from following location.
Mac : Indesign->Preferences->Dictionary
Win : Edit->Preferences->Dictionary
- Please confirm whether this issue is also happening with new documents? Can you attach an .indd document with some misspelled words which ID spell check is not able to find.
- Do you have previous version of InDesign installed on your machine ? IF yes, can you tell me which all older version of InDesign are installed on your machine ?
- Please confirm whether Spell check was working fine for you in previous version i.e. in Version 9.1 and issue started when you updated to latest version i.e. ID 9.2.

hello, ok.. first of all, i havent figured out how to make the spell check function add words to it's system. of course you can make this stop by going to "Settings" ---> "General" ---> "Keyboard" from there you choose the settings on the spelling functions. So far, i've searched & there's no way you can make it recognize a name or anything. hope this helps

Spell Check not working with the preset dictionary

My CS 6 InDesign on Mac does not make the spell check with the german dictionary and shows every word as unknown or wrong.
In Indesign Version 5.5 and 4 i don't have the problem. What can i do to solve this problem. There seems to be no dictionary in german for cs6 or it has no content.

Hi Charles,
It depends on where you are in the world and what "locale" you have selected in LC (File/Form Properties).
If we set the "Locale" to English (Ireland). where we are located, the spell checker will not work.
For example the "English (United Kingdom)" spell checker works, so that is what we set our locale to for functioning spell checking. The spell checker does not work for all locales.

Please excuse any typo that I have contributed to the many Apple forums. I have an injured right hand, left hand, right foot, left foot and most of all the item above my shoulders never learned spelling, even though I have an approximately 20th grade education. Albeit, Apple still has still not reinstated the spell check feature for the new & Improved forum. PLEASE APPLE, PLEASE, reinstate the spell checker feature to help us iliterates (?sp). I don't appreciate looking like an imbecile (?sp) !!!!!!!!!!!

In Safari (and most other applications that use Cocoa) do Edit>Spelling>Check Spelling As You Type. That should help you.

It's possible that a GREP paragraph style, or GREP find/replace, can apply a [No Language] character style to text that fits the patterns of your URLs. There are great GREPpers on this forum who may step in. InDesign's speller skips text without a specified language.

While writing a paper in Pages '08, I accidentally clicked "Learn" on a misspelled word. Is there any way to make the spell checker "unlearn" the word so it can continue correcting my mistakes?

Can my bluetooth keyboard spell check

I recently purchased a bluetooth keyboard for my iPad 2. Is there a way to make it spell check?

Thanks, ssschmidt. I should have mentioned I tried that already with no luck. I note that the the indicator light on the keyboard is not behaving as it should. According to the manual:
"When you first turn on your keyboard, the light glows steadily for 5 seconds, indicating the batteries are good. After 5 seconds, if your keyboard isn’t paired with your Mac, the light begins to blink indicating your keyboard is in discovery mode and ready to pair with your Mac (pairing means your keyboard and Mac are connected wirelessly and ready to communicate with each other)."
My indicator light never blinks. However, it didn't blink in the shop, either, but that could be because it connected within 5 secs to the shop's iMac.
