Please...Make Them Stop!!!

There are two very "passive aggressive" posters lurking around on the new 10.5 installation forum. These two are making it very difficult for anyone to provide any real assistance to others on the forum by answering virtually ever new post with negative comments. Their user names are "drupa99" and "Faema1969". I wish there were some way to get rid of these two guys. Hopefully someone reading this forum can help out with this.

Go to your profile page.
Select the Notifications tab clear out anything that shows there.
Go back to your profile
In the Actions box select Preferences
Select the Email Notifications Preferences tab
Set the values as you like
Go back to your profile
In the Actions box select Manage Email Notifications
delete any that show
Steps 4 & 7 seem to be the same, they are not. Make sure you do all of the steps.

Getting notifications I havent subscribed to. PLEASE MAKE THEM STOP!!!!!!!

I posted a question this morning. Now my Inbox is full of mail from Apple Discussions Descriptions. But I have never subscribed to any.
The instructions for unsubsribing are:
1) Visit <http://discussions.apple.com>
2) Login, if you have not already.
3) Click the "My Subscriptions" on the right hand side of your browser window.
4) In the Subscribed Categories area, select the delete option.
up - I managed to do 1-3...but there isn't a 'Subscribed Categories area' as described in 4.
So what's a boy to do?
I do hope someone from Apple sees this soon and fixes it, because I'm on the verge of reporting themm as spammers.

Itunes keeps opening on my computer every 5-10 minutes!! please make it stop!

I don't know if it's Job's ghost, or what... But I recently got the iphone 4s and now my itunes keeps opening up every 5-10 minutes! Can someone please tell me how to make this stop?? THanks!

the latest iTunes version 9.0.3.15 and it just will not close down. Every time I click on the X to close it or even go to File and then select close, it re openes!!
Do you have any third-party add-ons/plugins installed for your iTunes, ajay? If so, what are the called and what version do you have?

Why are Mail and Firefox swapping places when the computer wakes, and how can I make them stop?

If I put my MacBook Air to sleep with Firefox as the top application, when I wake the computer, Mail will jump to the top. If Mail is on top when the computer sleeps, when I wake the computer, Firefox will leap to the top.
This has only happened for the last week or two; the two aps have otherwise coexisted peacefully for the last couple years.
Does anyone know what's happening and how to make it stop?

Iphone 4S newly updated to iOS8, keeps popping up window notifying me of things I turned off (cell usage, location, etc) to preserve battery life. Is there any way to make them stop telling me every time I use the affected apps?

I have finally taken the step of updating my iPhone 4S to iOS8 after learning the hard way last update to wait for the bugs to be worked out. I was horrified to find that the battery was being sucked dry in no time at all. After finding a great article posted elsewhere on the apple forums, I went through and turned off all unnecessary options involving the use of cell data, location services and background refreshing. My battery life has thankfully returned to what it was before the update.
HOWEVER, now, every time I open an app for which I turned these things off, the window informing me of that pops up.   I am getting really irritated by this as I made all of these decisions deliberately and am well aware that I may need to go back and change them in order to activate certain capabilities when I want to use them. I had done the same thing with the last iOS, but there were far fewer that needed to be turned off and the battery life seemed to be less affected by those that I left on so it was not the annoyance it has become now.
Is there any way to make the phone stop presenting me with these idiot messages?   TIA

What a great phone (a few bugs, of course, but I guess Nokia would have to have the E72 available in time for Christmas. Hopefully, they will get fixed with the next firmware update)
But please, Nokia.... give us the option to turn off those animated transitions! PLEASE! P-L-E-A-S-E!
That's funny and we get it, but I want a fast phone. This is ridiculous! I came from an E71 that was way faster than this! Please, allow us to make use of the better processing power and RAM. Allow us to turn off those transitions!

ok i have 10.5.6 on a mac pro i am not new to GB and have done quite a lot of work with it.

so dont start criticizing my criticizing.
with a clean GB interfase, i import an mp3. about 130 bars on track one
it is the instrumental over which i will sing.
at bar 13 i start to sing the first verse. As soon as it has recorded i notice on top of the interfase a blue bar appears in middle top as if its saving what i just recorded. i go and edit/cut out bad singing
by dragging on the bad part in the editing area below once i double click on the purple recorded vocal.
every time i do this i get this an on going saving blue bar that has cancel on it and also says flex timing appears. I DONT WANT THIS ACTION OCCURRING! because it sometimes screws up the timing of the vocal. Why does it have to appear every take i do in recording vocals and how can i stop it?
i want the old GB that left me alone.
Does anyone know what im talking about? I cant use GB anymore if this continues.
This incessant flex timing has to have a shut off valve somewhere doesnt it?

it appears as if the audio area is so sensitive that if i cut an audio loop the whole process starts. I like to eliminate the empty parts of my vocals on the audio loops when i cmd x the part i select this window appears and it starts its ruminations. It at times messes up the timing of the piece.
THis does not always happen but it does often enough
or if i stop recording an audio part the window that says quantizing for flex time starts without my doing anything
i notice all the tracks have stars i am not clicking on any of them. I have never seen GB act this way.
i am not a complainer. maybe i need to reinstall it. I am using 10.6.5. And there are now crashes
when i save or convert to mp3s this never happened before. I can only surmise that GB 11 is not ready for public use. I am saddened by its behavior i will send this to APPLE.

Receiving texts in Spanish saying a session was started recently - are these legitimate and how do I make them stop?

Once or more every day (typically overnight) I receive a text saying, "Recientemente se inici sesi n en tu cuenta desde Firefox on Windows." Ignoring the grammatical errors/misspellings, it roughly translates to your Firefox account was recently logged into/a session was started. Each time the message is from short code 792273. Is this message legitimately from Firefox? If so, how do I get my number removed from whatever account it's been applied to in error?

Stopping emails from ASC is a three step process. All the steps in the user tip I wrote Stopping emails from ASC have to be followed as written.
There is confusion because there are two settings Email Notification Preferences and Email Notifications which sound the same but control different things.
Email Notifcations (not Preferences) is most likely your problem
As a rule if you are getting 100's of emails a day then
If you are receiving many notifications per day you most likely have selected to receive notifications from a community. That means you are getting notified anytime anything is posted to that community. Some communities in ASC can generate 100's of posts per day.
To delete the notifications you do not want to receive, select the checkbox after the notification and then press Remove Selected Notifications.
Follow the tip as written even if you think you did them aready.

AppleTV syncing after each podcast downloads? please, make it stop...

It seems a recent version of iTunes - or maybe it was when i finally cut over from iTunes on Windows to iTunes on Mac, both 7.6.something - is causing iTunes to sync my AppleTV (v1.1) after EVERY podcast downloads.
I don't quite remember what criteria triggered ATV syncing before (it never drew attention to itself!), but lately it's just completely over the top. While other podcasts are still downloading, iTunes syncs the ATV after each download completes, even if a current download completes during or shortly after the ATV sync (which is a reasonably predictable thing!), thus prompting ANOTHER ATV sync. And another. And another. I'm on a fast ADSL connection, so my life is not incomplete or inconvenienced if I have to wait 5 minutes for them all to download, THEN sync ONCE. If I need to i can trigger a sync manually.
Why? Because iTunes is still the most appallingly poorly written resource-hogging UI-freezing app i've seen in modern times - on Mac or Windows it behaves just the same, just as poorly. EVERY time a podcast completes download, the entire iTunes UI freezes with spinning beachball while the podcast is processed & moved to its proper location (background tasks usually proceed OK). This UI freeze happens after EVERY podcast completes download. My MacFanBoy friend just says "deal with it". I say Go Forth And...
But ff you insist on foisting this upon us, at least minimise the number of times we have to endure it. Please.

Random ipad Beeping...please make it stop.

Volume Settings: mute.
Notifications: off.
Brand new iPad 2 with 16g.
Wifi on or off.
Beeps while in sleeping mode or awake.
Random, single chime. Anywhere from a few minutes to an hour in between.
While charging, or not.
At 20% - 100%.
Anyone have any idea what this is?

No it was not email.
There is a separate setting for sounds. After turning all of them off the iPad stopped beeping.
Unlikely it was email as I did not have the iPad configured for my email accts.
I broke down what I had tried before (notifications, volume settings) so other ppl who are experiencing is similar issues after trying the same suggested fixes would be able to hopefully resolve the beeping.
And why is it not double capitalizing now? Grrrrr.....

Indexing.... please make it stop!!!

I don't get it, spotlight will not stop indexing my external drives. Whenever I boot up there goes Leopard, endless indexing like it has nothing better to do. None of these drives are for time machine either, and the privacy setting on spotlight not only halts indexing but the ability to search the drive too. I never had this problem in Tiger. Along with not being able to select drives for searches this is becoming ridiculous. We waited another six months for issues like this????
How do you stop the indexing?????

Indexing has continued for several days including long stretches of time (12-plus hours) when no programs other than OS were operating, sleep disabled, etc. Total data roughly 700 GB. Spotlight currently finds some files on search, but has not gotten to them all, or is possibly stalled (?), although it reports itself indexing with varying amounts of "time remaining" from a few hours to many hours. If it takes a week, I can live with that but if it's stalled, don't know what to do. This is second install of Leopard, first as upgrade, second as Archive-Install, which was Apple phone advice. Called back but gave up after two hours on hold.

My deleted gmails keep coming into my iPad, how can I make them stop?

I have 4400 emails that are plaguing me from my gmail acct. this is my first iPad and I am not a computer person. Can someone tell me in simple terms how to get this to stop? Gmail isn't giving me an option to delete emails after a day or so.

in fact, a different apple id, if you intend to use both devices with the same account, is a terrible idea. just get a new e mail address, and add it as your recieve at setting as james has suggested.
