Please Please help! Cannot download songs from itunes to ipod

I bought and downloaded songs to my itunes application on my PC. Then when I try to sync my ipod mini to get the songs onto my ipod it doesn't work! They won't transfer. Can anyone help me please?

Hi BunnyBG,
Welcome to Apple Discussions
Have you tried manually syncing your iPod (Knowledge Base Document #61148 on Managing songs manually on iPod)?
You might want to look at...
Knowledge Base Document #93867 on Some Songs in iTunes Won't Copy to iPod
Knowledge Base Document #93499 on Windows confuses iPod with network drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear

  • Help-cannot download podcast from itunes to ipod.  error msg

I have the IPOD video 30gb, 5th generation, and have itunes 7.02..
I am able to download the podcast from itunes into my library, but am unable to download it onto my ipod. an error msg pops up:
"...was not copied to the IPOD because it cannot be played on this IPOD."
I've searched and searched for an answer to this, and it appears to be a somewhat common problem with the itunes upgradeto 7.02
does any one have a solution?!?
HELP! (i'm an ipod newbie-and this is driving me absolutely MAD!!)

    OMG-i just figured it out!!
*first of all, i came across this in the itunes store help area-->
"Why won't some video podcasts play on my iPod?
Some video podcasts, while playable in iTunes, are encoded in formats that are not compatible with iPods. To convert those videos so that they are iPod-compatible, highlight the video in iTunes, right-click on the selection, and choose "Convert Selection for iPod". iTunes will automatically re-encode the video for playback on iPod. Go to the Movies section of your Library to find and play the converted episodes.
*i had converted the podcast previously, but i had just continued to try and transfer it from the podcast section rather than going to the movie's section, and dragging it from there. once i did that, it worked!
hope this helps anyone else out there, as i did come across a few other queries...

How do I download songs from ITunes to IPod?

Plug the white USB cord into your iPod and the USB side into your computer. Your iPod should come up in iTunes. Then, select either playlists or songs (once you see the screen, you'll figure it out, I'm sure) and sync your iPod. If there is any other specific issue, please outline it for us. Otherwise, that should work.

  • Cannot copy songs from itunes to ipod touch, although I've downloaded latest itunes version. Please help..

I've downloaded latest version of itunes but still didn't allow me to drag the songs that I want to my ipod touch. Anybody could help?? Thanks!

    Hello Juminten Cinta,
Since you are trying to manually add content to your iPod Touch, have you double checked to make sure the Manually manage music and videos option is ticked from under your iPod's Summary tab?
If it's already ticked, what exactly happens when you try to drag the songs over to your iPod?

Then itunes asked me to restore the mini because of a problem, i did and from then on i had a lot of problems downloading music from i tunes to the mini, the few songs i could transfer were downloaded at a sluggish speed and sometimes a windows message appears saying that there was an error transfering data, maybe because of an hardware or connection error.
And also if i disconnect the mini and then i reconnect it again, itunes prompts me to restore it, givin'me no other options.
The mini worked just fine until now.

  • Looking for information  and help on syncing songs from itunes to ipod

I just bought my first ipod -the 60gb video ipod. I'm in the process of ripping songs into itunes from about 2,000 CDs and there are some songs I don't want to load onto my ipod. I have 3 questions:
    1. When I sync my ipod with itunes the first time will it load all the songs in itunes or only the ones with check marks?
    2. When I sync it later to load new songs will it just add the checked songs?
    3. If I create new playlists and make changes to old playlists do they automatically update when I sync my ipod to itunes?
Thanks to anyone who has information to help!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
The following answers are based on the assumption that you automatically update. This means you will leave the iPod set to automatically have iTunes add songs (and you don't have to manually drag songs). This should be the default setting. To check, go to edit-->preferences with the iPod connected and hit the iPod tab.
    1) It will add all songs. You can change this though. Connect the iPod (perhaps the first time you are syncing). Go to edit-->preferences. Hit the iPod tab. Select only update checked songs. Now any songs you uncheck are removed from the iPod or not synced at all.
    2) If you have the option I talked about above checked, it will add all new songs that are checked automatically. By default, iTunes will want to have all new content added. But, if you have the only update checked songs option enabled, then only new songs that are checked will be updated.
    3) New playlists automatically sync to the iPod. If you change older playists, these changes will be reflected on your iPod the next time you sync.

  • Cannot download musice from ITunes to IPod

For 3 days now I have been trying to d/l to IPod. Today I restored as a last desperate measure and now one album d/l but when I press play, all it does is skip from one song to another then stops. Never plays music. I recently installed IPod to new computer, updated driver, and Itunes, nothing. Tried to d/l manually and I got a big black circle with a line through it would not transfer. Does anyone have an answer? I have been reading all the questions but nothing that was suggested works. Can anyone help please?

  • Problem downloading songs from iTunes to iPhone

I cannot download songs from iTunes into my iPhone. I was able to move about 10 songs but when I view them they are greyed out. I cannot manually move any songs. And if I attempt to drag and drop the iPhone will not accept them as the iPod will. Any suggestions? BTW I can move songs freely from iTunes to my iPod.

    hi jason,
imho, the lack of manual music and video management
is a mistake. i've had 4 ipods over the years and have always used
manual mode. the playlist hack works okay
    and is only mildly cumbersome.
however i tend to buy music from itunes both on my
imac at home and my pc at work. i've always simply
been to plug in my ipod to either computer and grab my
purchases, in either location. now, my iphone is "locked"
to my imac. i'm sure apple had a good reason to leave out
manual management, but i would suggest revisiting this
    asap.

  • Transferring songs from ITunes to IPod Nano

I have IPod Nano 5th Generation, and the latest IMac operating system.
Had no problems until today, because yesterday I downloaded the brand new ITunes 11.0 (163). Trying to transfer songs from ITunes to my IPod Nano. Not sure if I should submit this question in the ITunes section or the IPod Nano section, so did both.
ITunes used to - until today - show my device (IPod Nano and its playlists) on the left side column of ITunes, above the ITunes playlists. So I could just click on a ITunes song on one of the ITunes playlists and drag that song into one of the IPod Nano playlists above it. Now with this new version of ITunes nothing shows up on the left side, so I have no way of dragging songs from ITunes to IPod Nano. An IPod Nano icon does appear on my desktop, but clicking on it or its contents does not show any IPod Nano playlists. I could click on the IPod Nano icon on my desktop and then click on "all files" on top. There is an area that shows all the IPod Nano songs (I think),  but it does not show the IPod Nano playlists.
    1) How do I get the IPod Nano playlists to show?
    2) Please advise how to transfer songs from ITunes to IPod Nano playlists when using this new ITunes 11.0.
    3) If this cannot be done, is there a way for me  to go back and reinstall the previous version of ITunes?

I don't think the late/great Steve Jobs had this "new and improved" version of ITunes to be so darn frustrating.  It used to be relatively simple to put songs into a playlist or to import purchased songs from ITunes into an Apple device such as the IPOD Nano.  "Simple" used to be the selling point of Apple products.  What happened?  With this new version, I feel like I've got to contact Apple Support to do simple tasks.  It seems like I'm not the only person having this problem.

  • HT4059 my iPad mini cannot download books from iTunes - help

my iPad mini cannot download books from iTunes - help

    Hi, debikay45.
Test to see if you can download a free application from the App Store.  If this was successful, test downloading the book again.  Try closing all open applications and power cycling the device, test the results.  Make sure you have an active Internet connection.  If these results were unsuccessful, see the steps in the article below that refer to iOS.
Isolate the issue: (Mac OS X, Windows, iOS)
Make sure the issue is with the iTunes Store only. (You need an Internet connection to access the iTunes Store).Open a secure website to test if you are online as is necessary for the iTunes Store. This also tests if the main ports 80 and 443 are accessible. If the website works but the iTunes Store does not, it is most likely a firewall blocking the iTunes software or servers. If this is the case, follow the steps in the "Blocked by software firewall" section below.
Test using another device. If possible, another device, ideally on a different network, would help troubleshooting any iTunes Store issues most efficiently. If another device on another network has issues, the iTunes Store may be undergoing maintenance, and will be available soon.
    Test using another network.
Connect your computer or device to another network and testing helps determine the next step. This is also helpful if multiple devices are affected.
If your device can connect to Wi-Fi and a cellular network, larger downloads may not be possible over the cellular network.
If the issue disappears while connected to another network, you may need to work with your support options to open access to:
    itunes.apple.com
    ax.itunes.apple.com
    ax.init.itunes.apple.com
    albert.apple.com
    gs.apple.com
    ax.phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net
    mzstatic.com
Note: iTunes may use the fully qualified version of these addresses for additional security.
iTunes uses well known ports and these ports may need to be opened for iTunes: 80, 443, 3689, 5297, 5298, 5353, 8000-8999, and 42000-42999.
It is critical that your date, time, and time zone be correct:Windows:
Click Start and then click Control Panel.
Click "Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options" and then click Date and Time.
Click the Date & Time tab.
Make sure that the date and time settings are configured to use the current date and time and then click OK.
    Mac OS X:
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
In System Preferences, click Date & Time.
Enable the option to "Set date and time automatically" if it is not.
Click the Time Zone tab and adjust the time zone to match your current location.
    iOS:
From the home screen, tap Settings > General > Date & Time.
If the option exists, turn off Set Automatically.
Verify the time zone and time (in the status bar) are correct for where you are currently.
If not, adjust the incorrect setting accordingly.
If everything was correct and the option exists, turn on Set Automatically.
Remove any restrictions that may be causing the issue:
    Windows:
It is recommended you use iTunes from an administrator account.
Refer to the Help documentation from Microsoft, contact your IT department, or visitsupport.microsoft.com for more information.
You can also check using iTunes Diagnostics if you are recognized as an administrator by iTunes.
    Mac OS X:
It is recommended you use iTunes from an administrator account. To become an administrator account, from the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
    In System Preferences, click Accounts.
You may need to unlock the lock in the bottom-left corner of the window to make changes. If you can unlock the lock, you are already an admin user.
Under the account you are using, it may say "Standard." Enable the option to "Allow user to administer this computer" to make the user an admin account user.
From the Apple () menu, choose Log Out.
Log back in and return to using iTunes. Test to see if the issue is resolved.
iOS: Restrictions can limit your ability to purchase some content. Check restrictions via Settings> General > Restrictions if you're unsure about those settings.
After isolating the issue to iTunes by following the above steps:
If the issue still occurs and iTunes displays an alert message with a specific code, please see the section below titled "Specific Conditions and Alert Messages" for additional troubleshooting steps.
If the issue is still not resolved and there is no specific code or alert message, you can visit the iTunes Store Discussion Board to try to find additional information for help resolving your issue:
You can also contact AppleCare to discuss your support options. Depending on your product’s coverage status, you may need to pay for support.
    iTunes Store Discussion Board (Mac)
    iTunes Store Discussion Board (Windows)
New routers or a new Internet Service Provider (ISP) may limit your ability to connect to iTunes Store. Let your router manufacturer or your ISP know about the ports and servers in this article and confirm that they are compatible.

  • TS4009 iCloud says I have  19GB storage left, but my iPhone cannot download anything from iTunes. Any help?

I have plenty of storage space on iCloud, but whenever I try to download songs from iTunes a popup says my storage space is full.  Any help please?

The storage space you have on your phone and the storage space you have available in your iCloud account are not the same thing. You need to remove some items from your phone, if you are to free up space to download items from iTunes.

  • HT1473 I cannot download songs from my ION turntable to itunes library. I used to be able now I can't.

I cannot download songs from my ION turntable to itunes library. I used to

    1. You did not get an error message telling you that your iPhoto library was getting full. You got a message telling you that your HD was getting full, right?
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Your Library has been damaged from being run on an overfull disk.
How much free space on it now?

  • How to download songs from ITunes Japan and France?

How to download songs from ITunes Japan and France with a credit card and address based in the US? The system appears to not allow downloads in that fashion. Please let me know if you have any details

This question is asked literally dozens of time a week in these forums, & I will answer, again. In order to purchase from any specific country's store, you will have to meet one of the following criteria:
    1) Have a credit card from that country with a billing address in that country.
    2) You may use an iTunes gift card purchased in that country, but the billing address rule still applies.
This rules are mandated by the record companies not Apple. The record companies do not care for cross-border sales.
As a new poster, just a suggestion, it might save you a little time if you use the "search" function in the upper right corner to see if your question has been asked previously. That way you don't have to wait on someone to come along to help you.
