Please point me to the correct topic section of this Forum

I didn't see a specific topic regarding delivering FLV
content with a standard Web server. So I thought I'd ask WHICH area
I should post my question to, first?
In short, I have an FLV/SWF which plays in the Flash Test
section fine, but does not play in IE or Firefox. Flash player is
loaded, but no content. I did have it "semi" working at one point,
but it wasn't consistent.
Thanks.
P.S. More details will be provided once I know which area I
should be posting the Q? in.

Okay. Thanks!

viewer has the latest Flash, but it checks for version 8 as a
minimum):

(same as above)
- Movie (59MB .FLV) works on my PC in FLV Player v1.0.
- Movie also plays back correctly in the "test movie" section
of Flash 8
- I have tried relative references to the Steel...swf file,
from within the Flash .FLA, as well as direct references to this
player control (
http://www.night...). It worked
and played once or twice when I used the direct reference.
- The web Flash Player DOES load up and there is activity on
my router, as the movie appears to download, but the screen is
white and just stares back at me. ??
- I've placed FLV content in SWF before, and had no issues
with it.
(See:
http://www.nightskytours.ca/index.html
- The Durham Living Coverage), which plays fine on IE6 and Firefox
3.0.5, on the same site).
- Flash player version installed in my Firefox and IE6, is:
10,0,12,36
I'm at a loss as to where the issue is, here. Is it in the
.HTML that calls the movie? Or is it in the .SWF that contains the
.FLV?
I've included the source .FLA so you can download and check
it, if you wish.
Appreciate greatly, any help. I have to do 2 more training
videos, but I need to get THIS ONE working first.
I'm also gonna take a look at my "Durham Living" movie, to
see if I did anything there that would stand out, and help me on
this one.
Thanks!

  • Please I would need the  correct Entity Diagram for this Two questions.

This is to draw an Entity Relationship Modelling Diagram that will show inside dot for the "Must Need" end and outside dot on the "not must" end.
You also need to put 1s and Ms relationship where needed.
    Question (1)
    The All Day Driving School
The All Day Driving School has a number of instructors. Each instructor is assigned a car for their own use only.
The school also has a spare car which is not assigned to a particular instructor.
The driving school takes on pupils who are each allocated to an instructor. The pupil then books lessons with the instructor.
New instructors have a short induction period before any pupils are allocated to them.
Suggest suitable attributes for each table (assume that these will be discussed in detail with the user when you next meet with them).
Extention to the scenario: Sometimes the pupil´s allocated instructor is not available when he/she requires a lesson, and a different instructor cover that lesson.
How would you amend your diagram and tables so that it is still possible to identify the allocated instructor, but also to record who was the instructor for each lesson?.
    MY Answer:

    Institution(InstitutionID, Name, Address, Telephone, Location)
Instructor(InstructorID, Fname, Lname, Address, DOB, Gender)
    Car(CarID, RegistrationNo, Make, Model, Colour)
    Pupil(PupilID, IntructorID, LessonID)
Lesson(LessonID, InstructorID, CarID, StartDate, EndDate, Cost, Details)

    London Allotments
London City Council’s allotment department is responsible for the city’s allotments. Allotments are small areas of land that can be rented by council residents to grow vegetables and fruits. These allotments are rented by individuals. A site may have a paid manager who looks after the site and carries out any maintenance (such as repairing gates and fences): in this case, basic details of the manager are stored. As the site are spread throughout the city, each manager looks after exactly one site. A gardener rents a numbered allotment by paying the rented fee. Some gardeners rent several allotments but an allotment can only be rented by one named person. The allotments are in great demand and are never left vacant. Gardener’s details are recorded as soon as they are accepted for the waiting list,
together with the date they were added to the list.
Suggest suitable attributes for each table(assume that these will be discussed in details with the users when you next meet with them)
Extension to the scenario: This scenario encourages you to draw an ERD that records only the current manager of each site, not previous managers. Similarly you
were only expected to record the current gardener for each allotment. How would your diagram change if the council wanted to keep records of all the managers
and gardners over several years? Does the basic rule for allocating foreign keys work for the new diagram? We are going to need more techniques, aren´t we?

Question:  Need advise about new computer (OS Win8.1) to run CS6 - please point me in the right direction  Thanks

OSX comes with Xcode. Install it and see what you think. You can write both Java and Objective-C. They both have a particular syntax that is quite different from VB. Try to use them to write a HelloWorld program and see what you think.
Apple has come a long way in integrating Java into their development environment. Still, it was designed around Objective-C, so that might be more of a "pure" MacOS X development experience.

  • "You do not have the correct role to perform this function" on New Site

I have created a new site where I added fwadmin to all roles. When I login to Admin for this site I get the "You do not have the correct role to perform this function" error. I've read the manual and retired adding the user to all roles. I also looked at the Asset Types and I get "Error in evaluation;Error in configuration" when trying to enable.
Please point me to where I am going wrong, or where in the manual (and which manual) I can find help.
    Regards,
    John

    Hi John -
When you're provisioning users for sites, you have to
    1) enable the app for your site
    2) specify the roles that pertain to your app
    3) assign a user to the site
    4) assign a user roles for the site
If you miss any one of these, you can get this error. When you see "Error in Evaluation; Error in Configuration", however, especially during the out-of-the-box apps, please report a bug to support. That message is basically the XML scripting language equivalent of an uncaught exception, and it should not happen in the UI.

How to attach files to the thread we post in this forum?
I’m wondering why there is no feature that allows attaching files from our hard drives! It is not practical to upload our file first in a certain web to provide it as a link in the post.
Is there a way to attach our files directly from our hard drive to the post?
Please, have a look on the screenshot below that shows a forum which includes all the very basic features!

    Pierre,
Just a guess on my part, but I would suspect non-image files in this case.
As Ted points out, that WAS possible early on, and then the capbility to attach non-image files, was actually retained by a certain few forums, though not for long. This change was coincidental with a major spam attack, and at least one disgruntled user attempting to attach some rather nasty "stuff." I do ot know if those events prompted the change, as I was not part of the decision making group, that initiated the change.
Though 95% of the files that I wish to attach, ARE image files, there are times, where a TXT file would be ideal, say for a crash log, or similar. Now, I can convert that TXT to a PNG, but then one has to work with pixel x pixel dimensions, and some files, like those crash logs, can be rather long.
Personally, I find the loss of the Attach File (was via a button at the bottom-left of the editing screen) to be a sad comment on the actions of some, on these forums, but then that just reflects life outside of the forums.

PS - I am glad that you found that little article useful Especially in the PS, PrPro, PrE and Encore forums, screen-caps can tell so very much about what is going on with a person's program, system or their Projects/Images.

  • How do we stop the flame wars that diminish this forum?

Some Internet venues have moderators whose job it is to monitor and remove defamatory content or content inappropriate to the subject.
Wikipedia, for example, lets anyone update their content, but vandals are cleaned up after and locked out.
The OTN database forums seem to have gotten several flame wars lately that do not contribute to the dissemination of information or knowledge germane the forum.
Does/should OTN forums have moderators who perform this housekeeping chore?

Surely, when someone clicks the little yellow triangle next to a post, your application code is smart enough to make a note of the unique ID of the post being complained about?
I don't quite see why any particular "combing" effort is needed. Someone complains about post ID 3746238746283. You read the words of that post. If you think they violate the terms & conditions, you delete post 3746238746283. Job done. The whole point was that you shouldn't be "combing through" threads at all, on the lookout for abuse that someone might have overlooked in their rush to complain, but simply responding to specific complaints about specific posts. And if you get fed up at a thread generating a whole lot of complaints, you simply lock the thread from any further additions.
Incidentally, I don't recall seeing in the terms and conditions that "posts have to be on-topic", only that they must not defame, harass or annoy or be a form of advertising, or a solicitation to join a commercial online or offline service. So why did you lock a perfectly civil thread in which no-one was being annoyed, defamed, harassed, solicited or advertised to about the legalities of libel in this forum? Suddenly, you appear to have made "extra-curricular-ness" a test all on its own. Unfair, I'd have said. Indeed, a year ago you were writing that "one person's nourishment is another person's poison" and that you were very much "in the "nourishment" category", firmly of the opinion "the beauty of a blog is that it can be a vehicle for creative self-expression, in which the reader learns something about the writer - not just dry facts." What is sauce for a blog, I'd have said, ought to be sauce for a forum.

That's true, there's must be a common language, and it happens to be English nowadays (not only for IT though).
But on the other hands we can reverse the question: why is there a Japanese, a Chinese, a Korean and a Russian forum ? Does this mean that people from these countries do not speak English ? I doubt.
That said, as far as I can see from those forums, they do not contain many sub-spaces, and they are rather not very in use.
    Nicolas.
I was actually rather surprised at the list of non-English spaces.  When I went to look at it, I was fully expecting to see a list that looked like it correlated to percentage of the Oracle customer base.  Maybe it does, but if so, I would have expected to see India on the list.
    "Not very (much) in use"
Just a speculation, perhaps they are not much in use because the international language of IT is English.  Perhaps the reason those exist at all has more to do with Jive defaults/recommendations than any well-thought-out plan by the Oracle staff.  If that's the case then it is futile to attempt to read any meaning into why a particular language is or is not on the list.

The trial is always extended. The serial number you enter determines whether it runs as standard or extended.

  • Please point me to the right tutorial?

Hi all and thank you so long for your help.
I have attended an "Invitation" thing presented by Nikon   and Adobe yesterday. Adobe had a very clver guy there who worked so fast in his  presentation, that it was impossible to neither take notes nor follow  what he did to arive at a result. Can you please tell me what the following is called or where I can find a tutorial? (I don't know what it is called.) He had 2 group photos of  people, In one picture, everything was OK except for two people who did  not look at the camera. In the other photo, these 2 people looked at the  camera but it had something else wrong with it; cannot remember what.  He had the 2 layers "auto" ligned up and then painted through the faces  of the 2 people facing the camera. what is that auto lign-up of the  photo called? I know he had the photos each on a seperate layer, but  that is all.
2nd tutorial/pointer: 2 Pictures of the same person, but different poses. I  like the color of the shirt in picture 1 but not the pose. Picture 2's  pose is 100% but I like the color of picture 1. How do I pick the color  from picture 1 and "transform" it to picture 2?
Your help with these will be most welcome.
    Regards,
    Deon

Shirts were complete different colours; 1 red and the other blue.
In that case a Hue/Saturation Layer set to the respective color region (possibly set with the Target Adjustment Tool) might have been used.
A Layer Mask may nonetheless help.

(Though instead of applying the Adjustment destructively one could (Edit: and in my opinion should) use an Adjustment Layer …)
