Please re-install i-tunes

When trying to log onto i-tunes i get this message!
"Quick time version 6.5 is installed, i-tunes requires version 7.1.3 or later.
Please re-instal i-tunes"
I have downloaded both version 7.1.3 and the latest version of i-tunes but not progressing any further.
Any ideas?
JK

"Quick time version 6.5 is installed, i-tunes requires version 7.1.3 or later.
Please re-instal i-tunes"
did this start happening out of the blue? (in other words, you had a perfectly functional itunes, and then suddenly it starts claiming that QT version 6.5 is installed?)
if so, by any chance did you install a K-Lite or ACE Mega Codec Pack on that PC just before this started happening? if so, which version?

    Hi guys,
i updated my i-tunes, then it stopped working saying that it neede to update the phone configuration, please re-install i-tunes, I followed the details outlined in the forums.
Then after installing I got a registry error, i uninstalled following the instructions on the forum, then I re-installed using winrar, and it installed but clicking on i-tunes now results in it saying
*('Apple Application support was not found, please uninstall and reinstall itunes error 2')*
I have done this and now the registry error is back, and it wont work at all.
I am using vista 32 bit and sp 2, i hope this helps

What's the precise text of your error message, Cat? (There's a few different ones I can think of that you might possibly be getting.)

  • Hi i have just tried to update i tunes and it has crashed and uninstalled i tunes off my laptop. I have tried to install i tunes again but it wont and comes up with error messages

Hi i have just tried to update i tunes and it has crashed and uninstalled i tunes off my laptop. I have tried to install i tunes again but it wont and comes up with error messages

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • TS5376 Have new dell xps system and cannot install I tunes: "Apple Application Support was not found"...Error 2 (Windows error 2)....any ideas??

I am having tremendous difficulty installing I Tunes onto my new Dell XPS (Windows 8). First it downloaded but my library wasn't there and it would not recognize my ipod.
Then I uninstalled it and now it won't reinstall saying:
Apple Application Support was not found.
Apple applicationSupport is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again.
    Error 2 (Windows error 2)
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling a few times.......not working.
    Any ideas??

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • When i try to install i tunes it goes so far down the installation process then i get a message ' could not access network location %APPDATA%\.  Can any one help.

When i try to install i tunes, it goes so far down the installation process and then comes up with a message ' could not access network location %APPDATA%\.  I then retry and it comes up with the same message.
It also tells me i tunes needs 'Quick Time' to support the software.  I have downloaded Quicktime from i tunes seperately and gone through the whole process again, only to get the same message.
    Can anyone please help?

These kind of messages can often be cleared by using the Microsoft Installer cleanup Utility.
Here is a method for cleanup of your old iTunes installation and reinstall.
    == uninstall with cleanup ==
Download a fresh copy of iTunes and the stand alone version of Quicktime (the one without iTunes)
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Save the files on your PC.
Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instructions on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program – you have to run it to install the program. The installer doesn't give any message to confirm the installation.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
(To run the program – All Programs>>Windows Install)
Now use the following method to remove iTunes and its components:
    XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
    Vista or Win 7
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
*If you hit a problem with one of the uninstalls don't worry*, carry on with the deleting of files and folders as directed in the method.
When you get to deleting Quicktime files in the system32 folder as advised in the method, you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name.
    Restart your PC.
Run the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility. (Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up)
Remove any references you find to the programs you removed - strictly speaking you only need to worry about those programs where the uninstall failed.
If you don’t see an entry for one of the programs that did not uninstall, look out for blank entries or numeric entries that look like version numbers e.g. 7.x for Quicktime or 1.x for Bonjour.
    restart your PC
Install the stand alone Quicktime and check that it works.
    If it does, install iTunes.

  • Re-installing i-tunes software so i can sync my i-phone without losing existing i-tune files

I need to re-install i-tunes as the software has mysteriously disappeared, so can't sync my i-phone 4 any more, however I don't want to lose files already stored in i-tunes on my computer.
    Can anyone help please?

Well, unfortunately, the external hard drive only stores the music files. The playlists will have been on the old machine, easily recoverable, or on the iPod, possibly recoverable.
As it is, you may just have to rebuild your library, foregoing your playlists, ratings, etc.
To do this, go to edit\prefs\advanced, and make sure the following settings are selected:
DO NOT copy to iTunes folder when adding to library
DO NOT keep iTunes folder organized
Now, go to the external, and drag the entire music folder into iTunes.
Then, go back to edit\prefs\advanced, and change the folder back to the external.
    <hr>
In the future, consider occasionally saving the two library files (.xml, .itl) from My Music\iTunes to the external.

  • Please help!  i tunes won't display song list or artist ??

have 2 identical new computers and have installed itunes on both. One computer will open the cd automatically but does not display the artist and songs. The other computer automatically opens the cd and displays both the titles and artist. I must have a setting wrong on my one computer somewhere but have no idea where to look. I have un installed and re installed i tunes a few times but the settings never change. I have put both as my default player but still no luck. Please help!

Thanx for responding vdub, I deleted I tunes because I made the mistake of importing all of my music for a second time after adding all of my music to my new external hard drive and what happened, was, that created duplicates of almost all of my files and triples and quads of a whole lot of them. After spending 2 days trying to manually delete the duplicates and barely putting a dent in it, I decide it would be easier to just delete everything and just start over, well apparently that was a bad idea because now I've been trying to reinstall itunes for about a week with no success. Also retrieving it from the recycle bin is not an option because, of course, I emptied the bin. I'm lost,....

  • I cant install i-tunes

ive reset my computer to its original factory settings and im having problems installing i-tunes. when the exe.file has dowloaded and i begin the istallation process i get this error message

    please help

I see you have written down at the bottom that you have WIndows ME? Is that true? iTunes never had a supported version for Windows ME. But, I assume you had iTunes before resetting your computer to factory settings? So perhaps you have Windows 2000? Why did you restore it? Post back with more info. Thanks
