Adobe Community Help for Creative Suite 6 has changed:
A Help article can document multiple versions of the product (CS6, CS5.5, or CS5). The applicable versions are indicated in the article sidebar and in the topic titles.  There is no separate help for each product version.
The table of contents has changed.  Help topics now integrate contributions from across Adobe and our community. It displays content for CS5, CS5.5 and CS6. , Think of Community Help as collections of related items rather than structured books. Adobe will continually curate and add to the collections.
Help now opens Pressing F1 or selecting Help in your product opens a topic browsing page in a web browser. The web page combines community contributions and Adobe content. Browse the content by topic categories. Click the More link in a category to see a complete list of related items.
Offline Help is a PDF instead of HTML in the Community Help browser.  If you want to access Help when you're offline, a PDF is available for download.
Content is no longer displayed in a stand-alone Help viewer but in your web browser.

Hello, thanks for this info - I am currently trying CS 6 to find out whether it is worthful to change from CS 5.5. For the moment, I had to say yes, definitely! But then I came across the help issue and this is nearly a no-go for me. The community help in CS 5.5 worked perfectly, especially the offline-reader (I am using your products half of the time offline because of very limited internet connection and using help on a daily basis).
The stand alone help viewer had many advantages:
- it was able to handle context-sensitive help, ie. in ActionScript, just highlight a keyword and press F1
- it was rendering and displaying nicely, and was independent of my web browser (my default browser has usually many tabs open and now I have to search for the adobe-help every time)
- it was fast (in comparision to the online help)
Is it possible to switch back to the community help?

    Although your description doesn't clarify exact use cases it feels like you need to create a map of strings and read map on user entry. Here is an example - just paste it on timeline:

    So here's my story:
    A few months after I got my iPhone 3G I noticed that it had developed the infamous plastic crack. I contacted the Apple store and they assured me that it would get replaced because it was a known defect. I live about an hour and a half away from an Apple store so I've been putting it off.
    A few month ago My iTunes started acting weirdly. Whenever I plugged my phone into it, it would crash. I managed to update it to iTunes 8.2 but the problem kept happening. This went on until I finally had enough of it. I researched several options of how to fix it from switching users on my computer to deauthorizing and reauthorizing my iTunes account to uninstalling and reinstalling. Finally something worked- I went into the list of programs that run on startup and followed instructions to disable some of them.
    So now my iTunes didn't crash when I connected it to my iPhone and I started to download 3.0. I didn't get that far because whenever I would try to back it up, it would take tens of hours. Soon my computer was overheating and I had to stop it. I tried again several times all with the same result. I was getting so frustrated with this that I just turned off my backup.
    But the problems continued. I finally got to what seemed like the end, but then the 3.0 update stopped for hours and hours on the 'Verifying iPhone update' scrolling bar.
    I started researching this problem, on these forums and elsewhere and found no answers. Someone had said to hit ctrl-alt-delete during it, to get out. So frustratedly I did it.. and it stopped.
    Now here is where I am now- I'm left with a phone that needs to be restored, but when I restore it it still freezes on the "Verifying" stage.
    I was planning on going to the Apple store at some point before my warranty ran out to get the crack problem resolved, but this weekend I am busy and an hour and a half away from the nearest store. Is there anyway I can fix this so I have a phone until I can get to Apple? I can't call Apple because I don't have a home phone.

    I would suggest setting up an appointment with a Mac Genius.

    Please read the following and help me if you can. It is really a very important and urgent issue.
    We're in the middle of the OCS installation (precisely in the end of the storage layer). We have now to configure workflow, since this has to be done BEFORE the application (middle-tier) installation.
    One of the steps is loading the workflow definitions (.wft files) which will be used by Oracle Files. But the instructions we received say thses files are MISSING in LINUX installations (just like ours!).
    So if you have these .wft files in your installation please PLEASE mail them to me ([email protected]) as soon as possible. Documentation says these files are located in <oracle home>/ifs/files/admin/config. Probably you can also access them through Oracle Workflow Builder.
    I will be forever grateful to all of you that help me with this stuff! ;)

    Both of these issues sound like they should be directed to Adobe.
    In the first case, it sounds like the file opens fine in Adobe, but once you combine this with other files and resave you get this error when you try and open the files again. It's Adobe that's saving the files at this point (Reports is pretty much out of the picture). You may want to try with Reports 9i, where a higher level of PDF is output, but that doesn't mean that Adobe shouldn't deal with the earlier versons.
    In the second case, Reports outputs PostScript via the standard windows printer drivers and APIs - there's no special settings for this (in fact it looks like this is a standard initialization parameter for the printer). Again, you should probably contact Adobe for more assistance.

    downloaded the updated iTunes and that did nothing. I then went through the form about $ very VERY carefully and discovered one field left blank. Once that was filled in, everything worked and I now have my free app.

    This can be done easily with ethernet.
    Please follow the instructions strictly.
    To make it easier I want you to do this overnight so you can turn off all your current connection to the internet.
    Just go to the airport fan in to the top right and turn airport off.
    Get ethernet cable and connect the laptop to the TC lan port.. ie <-> ones.
    Press and hold the reset on the TC for about 10sec. until the front led flashes rapidly.
    Open the airport utility.. go to manual setup and change the wireless to off. (so other people around you cannot join your network of one).
    Ignore all the errors.. they won't stop the backup working.
    Go to the TM and reselect the backup target disk as the TC.
    It should start after 2min and run through to completion.
    That is it.. for a backup of many GB it might take a few hours.. so make sure the laptop has power plugged in and the sleep is off.. (on early ones I think this is needed but I am a late arrival to the scene).. sleep doesn't affect later OS.

    Thats because the apps you already had are associated with his apple id because you purchased them with his apple id. All new apps you purchase under yours will be under yours only.

    Hi.
    Having various problems with a USB stick that is formatted in EX-FAT.
    It was working fine for a long period.
    Yesterday I lent it to a friend to put some things on it.
    Now when I try and work on it, I get messages like this.
    Mac OS X can’t repair the disk “Disk Name"
    You can still open or copy files on the disk, but you can’t save changes to files on the disk. Back up the disk and reformat it as soon as you can.
    It will also randomly eject the drive.
    I have tried to reformat it multiple times, in mac and windows.
    [I have never used it in windows previous to this occasion of needing to reformat].
    In windows, it crashes the disk when I attempt to format with disk manager [I attempted this due to advice in an internet article].
    In Mac , I cannot even try to reformat it, because for some reason the permissions on the USB stick have been set to "read only" and I cannot find any way to change them to read-write, or full permissions, or whatever is appropriate.
    I have tried "erase" disk in disk utility. I know how to do a full reformat, but it simply will not allow me to do so.
    All the options are greyed out.
    Does anybody have any information or links they can point me to?
    I've been searching around.

    select the drive > select the Partition tab > select 1 Partition
    select Option > select GUID Partition Table > select OK

    When I setup my new MacBook Pro, something slipped by me and my computer was named First-Lasts-MacBook-Pro (using my real first and last name).
    I changed the computer name in Preferences/Sharing to a new name and Preferences/Accounts to just be Mike. I can right click on my account name, choose advanced, and see that everything looks right.
    However, If I do a scan of my network with my iPhone using the free version of IP Scanner, it lists my computer as First-Lasts-MacBook-Pro! And it lists the user as First-Last.
    So even though another Mac just sees my new computer name, and my home folder is Mike, somewhere in the system the original setup with my full name is still stored. And it's available on a network scan. So my full name might show up at a coffee shop.
    Can I fully change the name without doing a complete re-install of Lion and all my apps?

    One thought... you said the iPhone displayed your computer's old name? I think that you must have used the iPhone with this computer before you changed the name. So no one else's iPhone should display your full name unless that iPhone had previously connected to your Mac. For example, I did this exact same change, and I use the Keynote Remote app to connect with my MacBook Pro. It would no longer link with my MacBook Pro under the old name, and I found that I had to unlink and then create a new link under the new name. So the answer to your question is, there is nothing you need to do on the Mac, but rather the phone, and no other phone will display your full name.

    What I am saying is ..........
    The iPhone HAS to be active making calls on the UK carrier network for the carrier to identify as "theirs" and therefore eligible for the Carrier to unlock
    The way to achieve this is to use a PAYG sim making and receiving calls to establish a customer relationship  with the Carrier and then follow the Carrier's process to unlock
    With a PAYG it usually means adding a specified (by the carrier ) amount  usually £15 /£20 depending on the carrier
    This is how O2 function and according to Gemma  this is how Vodafone work
