Please recomend a good book to create art in Photoshop?

I want to learn to create menus and artwork in photoshop and Illustrator.
I have seen many books but they tend to work with manipulating photographs.
I want to create pictures and menus....
Can anyone recommend a good book (available in UK) to teach me steps in either illustrator or photoshop.

Advice a good book or on line source

Hello everyone!
In our small company we have no IT staff so I try to do my best with MS Access VBA, MS-SQL and SharePoint Online Plan 1.
Can you please advice me good book or on-line source to understand better lists, web part page and connections between parts on it?
let say, how to set Title field instead Select field to select item in order to send row to other part. Or may be possible to set a link of web part page to Title link and when it opens other web parts takes passed Title to filter web parts on page...
I found Microsoft's help very unorganized (sorry Microsoft) and mixed between versions of SharePoint. It is really hard to grasp basics.

Good book recommendation

i'll be working on a j2ee project in a few months and wanted to know if someone could please recommend some good books, i've done work with sdk and jsp, but might need to go further into j2ee aside from jsp, could someone please recommend a beginner and intermediate book on it.

I am working through "Teach Yourself J2EE in 21 Days" (SAMS publishing) which seems pretty good. It includes all the main J2EE stuff - JSPs, database access, EJB (CMP and BMP), JMS etc, and has a lot of example code for you to try out.

Sams Java 1.2 in 21 days is a good book to start with as it explains the basics of the language very clearly, but if you want to really want to get your teeth stuck into the Language I'd suggest O'Reillys Learning Java by Patrick Niemeyer & Jonathan Knudsen, its not a good first book but it makes an excellent companion to java 21 days, IMO.
I'm new to java programming myself and must admit the O'Reilly book just confused the hell out of me at first, but now it's the main book I'm reading.

Maybe the best thing would be a course? Books are fine, but you will probably learn quicker by example. There are some reasonable CD-ROM/DVD courses out there (not naming any). Google for some and check their rating. I know of no single book that would offer as much as a decent course. Once you are up to speed, then, yes, you'll be seeking out the better books. Finally, the 2-day guides in Oracle's docs. are really worth reading, and re-reading. But the docs, by themselves, are a bit dry. If you can afford an Oracle University course, or (my preference) Learning Tree (and, no, I do not work for them, etc.), then go for that - you won't regret it.

A GREAT book is called "Oracle9i Developer: Developing Web Applications with Forms Builder" by John Adolph Palinski. (www.course.com) While the title says 9i, it tells you along the whole way where 6i differs and how to do it in 6i. In the preface it says "This book also supports developers using Oracle6i Forms Builder... Throughout the book a distinctive 6i icon identifies explanations and exercises related to 6i."
The only thing I don't like is there's no answers to the questions. I suppose because it's used in a lot of classrooms. But regardless, I've recently purchased 4 Forms books, and this is by far the best for learning (since I'm a newbie). But at the end of each chapter you take steps to build a real application from scratch. Hope that helps!
