Please recommend a SQL / PLSQL training book

Anybody could recommend a SQL / PLSQL training book:
1. problem-solution style,
2. from beginner to advanced level
Or do we have any website which have this function ?
I want to practice, practice, practice....
Thanks.

It has that part also.
But, this is a good book to learn oracle.
Perhaps, your requirement make me nostalgic about my childhood days when we are solving dummy question and answers from Question Bank. ;)
If you are really hungry for such oracle problem and it's solution. Then why not join regularly in OTN forum here? ;)

  • What is the best FCE 4 Training Book

What is the best recommendation as far as training book?
The one recommended by "Tom Wolsky"?
    Or, the "Visual QuickStart Guide"
I have had good luck with the Visual QuickStart Guides in the past. But if the Tom Wolsky book is better, I'm all for it. On that note; Which book? "Final Cut Express 4 Editing Workshop"?
    Steve

    Hi(Bonjour)!
Tom's book is a big tutorial book with lessons. It's a very good start to learn using FCE by practice.
Lisa Brenneis's "Quickstart guide FCE for Mac OS X" is a kind of dictionnary presenting all application menus. It's less based on a day to day work.
Both volumes will teach you a lot of FCE.

  • Please recommend a best practices book

Can someone recommend a core java best practices book.
I have read several books and yet when someone says use a tagging interface... I just look at them and wonder what they are talking about.. then I google and find out.. There may be several such terms that I am not aware of... How do I learn about these terms like POJOs etc.. People keep using words like POJOs and then I find out its nothing but a java class object.. but how do I know that?
Someone once said "You know only 5%, 20% you know you dont know, 75% you dont even know that you dont know".. Which book can give me that 75% ?
I know basic datastructures etc.. but when to apply what is what I want to learn.
A book which talks about when to use which datastructure, good usage of interface examples, and best practices that are used in real application production environment. Can someone please recommend a good book like that ? Is there any ? Real cases?

Maybe this should be a different thread but how do
    programmers organize folders for projects?
Every company has a common java classes shared by
programmers I presume? That must be located in a
central access place and I am curious how they
organize folders?Folders? Maybe. Version control system, with a "commons" tree? Better.
Have a look at Matt Raible's AppFuse. It's a fine example organization for a project.
As for me, I do something like this:
    I build with Ant: http://ant.apache.org
/source is the directory where anything I check out of version control will go.
    Under that:
    /java - .java source files.
    /lib - 3rd party JARs (e.g., JDBC drivers, etc.)
    /jsp - JSPs
    /etc - deployment descriptors, like web.xml, etc.
    /xml - XML files
    /xsl - XSL stylesheets
    /html - HTML files
    /css - cascading stylesheets
/sql - SQL scripts for creating, altering, populating relational tables.

  • Please recommend an OS X book

Hi, I badly need a book to teach me the intricacies and methods of how to best use the OS X LION.
Please recommend a suitable title, or titles, from your own experience.
    Thank you
    roystonfrombrighton.

David Pogue's book would be even better if were in print. Currently (8/29/11), booksellers like Amazon are taking orders, but it isn't for sale yet. I suspect the reason why it's taking so long to come out is because of the added detail and length.
If you can't wait, Bob LeVitus is an experienced writer on Apple devices, and his Dummies guide http://www.amazon.com/Mac-OS-Lion-Dummies-Computers/dp/111802205X/ref=pd_sim_b_4 will be useful for those who want a more accessible style. Robin Williams's book is a little meatier http://www.amazon.com/Mac-OS-Lion-Peachpit-Learning/dp/0321777018/ref=pd_sim_b_5 and I've really liked his past stuff.

  • Please recommend a book of LiveCycle for me?

    Dear All.
I would like to learn to LiveCycle.
already visited book store, but there wasn't suitable book of LiveCycle.
If you know book which is LiveCycle,  Please let me know.
    Thanks.

Books; those are those heavy things made of dead trees, right?
If you are new to LiveCycle, especiall the server side products, then I would suggest starting at the LiveCycle Developer Center.  The LiveCycle in three days videos are quite detailed and will walk you through each stage in creating a LiveCycle project.

  • Requirement for finishing OCA - Oracle 9i SQL-PLSQL

    Hi,
I am planning to give the OCA certification in SQL-PLSQL Oracle 9i.
Please let me know, after successful completion of both the SQL and PLSQL exams, do I also require to have the Oracle certified training to get the certificate from Oracle.
    On the below URL
    http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=152
There is no such mention. Howerver for OCP, it is required to have the training.
I called up few of the test centers and they all told me that I have to undergo the Oracle training, then only I will get the certificate. However, I dont feel that I need training to clear the OCA certification Oracle 9i.
Please confirm me on the requirement of training for getting the Certificate from Oracle on succesful completion of both SQL and PLSQL exams.

    Regards,
SaurabhFor PL/SQL OCA you do not require training to get the certification. Nor do you for PL/SQL OCP (For a lot of OCP's you do have to have training).
    - Of course Oracle would recommend ou have training.
Please note that the PL/SQL OCA and OCP certifications are non version specific.
With the best will in the world a (Pearson VUE) test center only really deals in exams, they do not deal in certifications.
However some Test Centers may also be associated with training establishments.
You may have been given mis-information for one of three reasons I can think of:
    1) They may have misunderstood your question.
    2) The may have genuinely not known the answer, and because DBA OCP needs training they may have thought and not checked Pl/SQL OCA needs it.
    3) They may have been fraudulently trying to sell you training you did not need.
You can always book the required exams online anyway.
BUT HOLD ON A SECOND ... ;-) ... BEFORE I SLANDER PEOPLE OFF: :-) [ There's meant to be a smiley here bu it keeps disappearing ]
The link you have given is for 9i DBA OCA/OCP .... and to get the 9i DBA OCP you DO need to have training.
The certification you have asked about is (9i) PL/SQL OCA/OCP ..... and the required page for that is here .....
    .... http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=155
If you look at this carefully you may be able to begin to confirm what you want.

  • Need advise on SQL,plsql developer career and future

    Hi all,
I need all your advise in making an important decisions of my career path.I work in the IT field and have about total 4-5 years of work experience involving development and testing in a product based organization.
Presently-i have got chance since last 4-5 months to work with writing PLSQL code,SQL etc on a part basis. I am very much interested to continue my career path as a PLSQL developer.
But, unfortunately -in the total of my work experience-in the past 2-3 years-i worked with a internally developed DB query language(similar to SQL) and then from last few months with plsql. But this chance to work with PLSQL has been for less time and limited scope after which i will have to work on something different.
Ii want to fully take on my career in SQL,PLSQL as Database Developer.
Please advise me if my thinking seems logical and good and if I could do it. I have planned on applying for relevant SQL,PLSQL profile jobs.
Now, My serious worry and concern is I feel that since i have worked very less with PLSQL-so am low in confidence that I feel i wont be able to answer ,or tell or not knowledgeable enough to be able to clear the technical interviews for SQL,plsql development profile which would need at least some years of experience.
I have started studying and practsing PLSQL,sql by myself for from internet. So, can you all please advise me on how could i prepare myself for hard core technical interviews of SQL,PLSQL knowledge for about 2-3 years expertise.
I know its not much possible to be competent so much in the subject by just studying and practicing. Its easy as saying to study and get it by myself-but i want to try and will put my best for it.
Please help me with your inputs, all interview questions, hard ones-suggestions,links,any study materials, real time problems which i can try solving of SQL, PLSQL development.
    Thanks All

  • Final Cut Pro x10.2 training book

Does anyone know if there is an updated training book available for this version of FCP X? I just completed a course at an approved training center, and they provided me with the training book, but I've downloaded the new FCP X 30-day trial, and there are ample differences in the new version, apparently. An updated training book would be very helpful.
    Thanks!
    Michael

Don't sweat the small stuff. It will take you more than 30 days to get good at FCPX so the differences between the last and current revs are not really that big for you.
I confidently recommend Tom's book. Even though it's a bit out of date, the fundamentals he covers have not changed much.

  • AE CS6 training books

    Hi folks,
I searched the forums for advice on training books for the CS6 products, but all the threads are a year old, so I'm hoping to revisit the topic of training books for the Production Premium CS6 software (mainly AE, Premiere, and Photoshop).
I see from Amazon that there are Adobe Classroom in a Book copies already for CS6, but frankly, they're exact reprints of the the CS5 books I already have, same example files, exercises, chapters, etc. Very few new topics exist.
I have to be honest that I'm 1/3 through After Effects CS5 CinaB, and I don't love it. All the files are standard def ( ! ), and they don't seem to be practical from a design standpoint at all. Many of them feel incredibly dated and not something I would use in a practical design.
Can anyone recommend a good tutorial book that approaches learning AE, etc from a designer's perspective? I should indicate that I am not a beginning with any of these tools, but I'm not advanced either. I'm looking for really solid, practical, industry-used techinques to take my production to the next level. Things like how 3D tools in Photoshop work, how the new 3D tools (ie Ray Traced 3D) works in AE, advanced compositing techniques, troubleshooting footage techniques, advanced effects work, etc.
    Any help/recommendations is greatly appreciated!

Mark Christiansen's "Studio Techniques" would be the relevant "industry bible". Otehrwise these days you can find tons of tutorials on the web for everything, but naturalyl the quality will be mixed. Some are good, some not so much. Until you get to a specific point in your workflows, though, most of them will not be particularly relevant either way. Perhaps video2brain's series featuring Todd Kopriva & Angie Taylor might be a good place to start, but I can't vouch for any of that - I haven't watched a tutorial in eons. I simply don't have the time.

  • Please Recommend reliable USB Hub?

RE: Please recommend reliable USB Hub?
It seems not all "Hi-Speed-give-me-a-break-where-are-my-firewire-ports-Steve-dangit" USB devices ports are linking up so easily as advertised these days, at least not for me.
1.0_I Am Looking for a reliable USB hub to expand the port set on a Mac Book Aluminum 2.0 13" Recommendations?
Specifically a USB hub that can connect Little disk drives via the USB extractable cable.
Tried a BELKIN Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Mini Hub (Grey zippo sized case with flip-up section reveals extractable USB cable plus extension) no such luck.
    Thanks to all who reply

    Maczbook wrote:
Indeed Apple recommends you rfirst option, which seems best. the 7 port model is just "wild"
The USB spec says that there can't be greater than 4 ports per USB hub, as well as a limit of five hub extension. There's a reason why it's typically 7 (and not 8) ports. It would be possible by making an 8-port USB hub, with one internal hub using two ports for two four port hubs for a total of 8 ports. A typical 7-port model would internally be considered two 4 port USB hubs, with the second hub connected to one port of the first hub. It could make a difference if more downstream hubs are connected (running into the limit of five consecutive), and there might be some differences in the host granting requests depending on which devices are connected to which ports.
As for recommendations - I can't fine it right now, but I remember using an unpowered hub sold by Targus. It was 4 port, but I liked that it had three side-by-side ports along with a single port at the end. The single one was ideal for non-standard sized USB devices like some really wide USB flash drives. I never really assume that the label corresponds to the manufacturer, since there are a host of lookalike hubs which are made by one company and relabelled by others.
One thing that irks me about all MacBook designs is because of the 13" screen they've placed the USB ports really close to each other. It makes it impossible to use a standard sized plug along with something like a USB flash drive. My older iBook had the USB ports spaced maybe 3 mm further apart, which was enough room to insert a SanDisk Cruzer micro.

  • Best Aperture Training Book

    Hi,
I need a training book for Aperture 2.0. At Amazon, I could only find Pro Training Series by Peachpit Press. The reviews have been somewhat mediocre. Do you have any other recommendations?
    Thanks

I did not miss any points at all. The book stinks as a reference manual and a tutorial. It is better than nothing but that's about it. I have read all of your posts and others regarding the book and have noticed the emphasis of using it as a tutorial. After seeing so many wonderful comments on it and "strongly recommend" type things I just had to be the odd man out.
I can assure you that I am intimately familiar with the book as a book and as a tutorial. A more appropriate should be how to take 900 hours to walk through inane things that you could learn yourself in 90 minutes of trial and error or something like that. The sad fact is that there are no better materials for Aperture at this point. The really insane part about this and the Lightroom situation is that the tools are workflow tools and far too much emphasis is placed on adjustments, adjustments, adjustments.
