how do I transfer saved emails from old ipad to new ipad?

    Hi trevorius,
Happy New Year!  The answer to your question depends on what email account you are using.   If it is your iCloud email account, the email messages will be available when you enable iCloud on your new iPad.  If it is an iMap account like Gmail, the messages will be redownloaded from their server.
Transfer content from an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to a new device - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT2109
Transfer content from an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to a new device
You can use iCloud or iTunes to transfer content from your current iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to another device.
    Use iCloud Backup
Follow these steps if both your devices use iOS 5 or later and you have an iCloud account. If not, please follow the iTunes steps below.
You can use iCloud Backup to back up your previous device and then restore the backup to a new device. Your saved messages, email accounts, photos, notes, and other personal settings will be transferred to your new device.
    See more about iCloud Backup.
    Turn on iCloud Backup
Start by backing up your old device to iCloud:
Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup.
    Turn on iCloud Backup.
You may want to connect to power and turn Wi-Fi on.
    Back up now
iCloud backs up your device once a day. To back up your device before you transfer content:
Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup.
    Tap Back Up Now.
Wait until the backup finishes. How long it will take depends on how big the backup is and how fast your Internet connection is.
    Set up your new device
When the backup of your old device is finished, turn on your new device. Follow the setup assistant, which will ask you to choose these things:
    Your language and country
    Whether to enable Location Services
    A Wi-Fi network
If you've already set up your device, you can reset it so that you can go through the iOS Setup Assistant again and restore from your backup. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. Do this only if you already have a backup.
    Restore from iCloud Backup
When you're asked to set up:
    Choose Restore from iCloud Backup.
    Tap next.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
    Choose the backup
Choose the backup of your old device and tap Restore. Wait until the device finishes restoring from the backup.
How long it will take depends on how big the backup is and how fast your Internet connection is.
    Sync other content from iTunes
When the restore finishes, your device will restart. You should connect the device to iTunes to sync data that isn't in the backup (such as music, videos, or apps that you didn't purchase from the iTunes Store or the App Store ). To change the type of content that syncs, click the syncing tabs in iTunes.
    Enter your passwords
When you're restoring an iCloud backup to a new device, you'll need to enter your password for your Apple ID, email and other accounts, and voicemail. If you've forgotten your voicemail password, contact your carrier.

    Use iTunes
If you don't have an iCloud account or you just want to keep a backup on your computer, you can use iTunes to back up and transfer content on your device.
    Get ready
Install the latest version of iTunes on your computer and the latest version of iOS on your original device.
You can't install a backup of a newer version of iOS onto devices that are using earlier versions of iOS. If your backup came from a device that has a newer version of iOS installed, update your new device before you transfer your data. For help, see Unable to restore from a backup of a newer iOS device.
    Back up and transfer
First, back up your old device using iTunes. You can also encrypt the backup so that it remembers the passwords for your email, Wi-Fi, and more when you transfer to the new device. Otherwise, you can re-enter these passwords on the new device.
Then transfer your data from your device to your computer.
    Remove your SIM card
If your device has a SIM card, use the SIM-extractor tool or a paper clip to remove the SIM from your old device and insert it into your new device. Or if your carrier gave you a new SIM card, use that instead.
    Set up the new device
When the backup of your old device is finished, turn on your new device. Follow the setup assistant, which will ask you to choose these things:
    Your language and country
    Whether to enable Location Services
    A Wi-Fi network
If you don’t have a Wi-Fi or cellular data connection, you can also activate by tapping Connect to iTunes.
    Restore the backup
When prompted to set up your device, select Restore from iTunes Backup.
    Connect to iTunes
Connect your new device to iTunes, using the same computer you used to back up your current device. iTunes will ask you to restore from backup or set up as new. Select the backup of your old device and choose Continue.
If the progress bar in iTunes pauses for a while, wait until the restore finishes.
    Sync other content
When the restore finishes, your device restarts, and then it's ready for you to use.
Keep your device connected to iTunes to sync content that isn't in the backup (such as music, videos, and apps). To change the type of content that syncs, click the syncing tabs in iTunes.
    Enter your passwords
If you restored from an unencrypted backup, you'll need to enter the password for your Apple ID, email and other accounts, and voicemail. If you've forgotten your voicemail password, contact your carrier.

You will need to go through a couple of steps in order to remove your subscription: one is on any community, click the "following" button and it will change to "follow" which means you are no longer subscribed. The same applies to any discussion/question you initiate - you will be automatically subscribed, so unfollow that. And, last, click on your name "welcome Chascartri" and then Preferences and turn email notifications OFF.
As an FYI, please do not shout at the other users/volunteers here as that is what typing in all caps means.

Facebook apparently has their site coded poorly for tablets with touch screens. Try using the Facebook app. It is not perfect either but it is better than view in a browser lately.

  • Removing email from server issue

I have a new iMac and I am having problems with email (settings).
I have the iMac and macbook both running yosemite and both have/share the main email account. the macbook email has the setting to remove email from server, but the iMac doesn't. When I use the remove now on the macbook to clear it off the server, it deletes them from my iMac (just inbox not junk)? I though once they are on the iMac they would be here, and the remove would just remove them from the host mail server?
I'd like to be able to control the removal from the iMac (not macbook). Anybody else had this issue, and how can I get the settings to appear on my iMac mail pref window to control it there?

See my reply to the message:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2557520?start=15&tstart=0
The problem is that the POP3 client does not issue a DELE command to remove the email from the server.

  • I have an iPhone 4 and I am wondering how I remove emails from the "All Mail" .  I have over 8,000 emails and want to free up storage but it will take forever to delete them 1 at a time!  Help!

Is there a way to remove emails from the Exchange Account "All Mail"?  I have over 8 thousand emails and want to clear them out.  It looks as though I have to delete them one by one!

Since it's an Exchange account, it sounds like the way to do this would be to remove them using a computer.

  • DEAD IN THE WATER--Can't remove email from server-can't receive new emails

I stopped receiving emails this morning upon startup, steps taken:
    restarted mail
    rebooted
    backed up all inboxes
searched how to see message on server, found them and and can see one that says:
From: unknown sender Subject: No subject Date Recd: Today Time is always the current time.
I read a very old post from David Gimeno Gost who said:
"You may tell Mail to remove from the server all the messages that have already been downloaded by means of Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > Remove now. Alternatively, you may use the Account Info window to remove specific messages from the server. And if the account allows web access, you may also remove messages from the server that way.
Try removing from the server messages that have already been downloaded and/or the first message not downloaded yet (i.e. the message that Mail appears to be choking on)."
I can't remove it from the server either by itself or grouped with other messages. Interestingly enough, I can receive emails on my iPhone and I changed my email address in my Apple info and received the verification email, but still nothing else that's sitting on the server.
Went into my email account through Webmail to delete it and can see all emails except that one
opened Mail on my mac mini, I couldn't receive email there for my email inbox, however I was able to receive email in my employees inbox on the same server but different email address.
Is this a Charter issue or a Mail issue. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks Renee

I finally figured it out. The server had to be refreshed by calling my hosting service. 9 hours of diagnosis and a 2 minute fix.
Hope that will help someone else:)

  • Transfering email from old computer

Does anybody have advice about transfering email (from Mail.app) from my old laptop to my new MacBook. I have many email accounts set up in Mail and I do not want to a) manually reinput all the settings and rules for each mailbox, or b) rebuild my mailboxes from the server (i.e. download all my emails again).
I have seen the posts about using the migration wizard and I realize that the general consensus is "just follow the directions" BUT in my case I only want to transfer email.
    Any suggestions?

I transferred my mail from my mini to my macbook and any message older than a few days says
"The message from <[email protected]> <[email protected]> concerning “Tackboards!” has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it.
What does this mean? I copied the entire library/mail file over to my new mac and now I don't have all the emails that in my inbox. If I look in my folders, the information is still there though.
Any help would be great. This is a work computer issue.
    Thanks,
    Karl

  • Retrieving Address book files & emails from old G5 (10.4) to MacPro (10.5)

My G5 died last week - both processors. HDs are OK though and I thought accessing old files would be easy.
I would like to recuperate the old Address book contacts and also my old emails from the old HDs.
Although I can mount them in the MacPro, I can't open the old Address book with Leopard and don't know where they might be in the old system; Same with the old emails. I did save the old email boxes as an mbox file but Leopard won't open it although I can open the old files individually.
    Any solutions ?

    David,
I once had a similar experience with a G5, but I love my Mac Pro 8 Core.
You should be able to simply "transplant" the com.apple.mail.plist (old User Directory/Library/Preferences) and the Mail folder from your old User Directory/Library, as well as the AddressBook folder from User Directory/Library/Application Support and then launch Mail and also the Address Book application, and have everything taken up where you left off, despite the version change. This is best done before every setting up anything in Mail or AB.
    More info, please.

  • Transfer Outlook Express Address Book & emails from old iMac 333 to iMac G5

Trying to import my old address book and a collection of emails from Outlook Express 5.0.6 to Mail2.0.2. I've tried everything that Outlook requires and no luck yet. I am reluctant to reload all those names, addresses, etc. into my new iMac G5. Also, I have many emails from my old iMac 333 and need them for my new G5 mail files. Can I read them into Mail 2.0.2 ?

    iMAC G5 /iBOOK   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   iMAC 333 & iMAC 350

I was having no success at all when I was trying to import mail data from Outlook Express to Mail on the same office G4 Tower where I just upgraded to Tiger, where all the Apple docu says it is possible...
    Then I realised,
    1. When in X, when importing data from OE, Classic has to be booted, my only and originally OS 9 (installed X on another partition) is to "heavily loaded" with a lot of 3rd party extensions etc, it never loaded completely
Solution: Install another clean and lean copy of OS 9 somewhere else, then designate this as your Classic, and make sure you only have one copy of OE and one set of your Identities etc in the Document folder
    2. The easier way out is if you have Office X or Office 2004, use Entourage to import everything from OE, then use Mail to import from Entourage.
    Cheers
