Please restore "reorganize: sort by selected rows" feature!

I was using this feature frequently every day and now I'm told it is no long available! :/

    Firstly, I wasn't saying that Wayne's posts were rubbish, I said his comment about V2 not having sorts by rows was rubbish as I proved with my image. I am just really frustrated professional person who has been signing Apples and Numbers praises that has been left feeling really let down.
    Personally, I do not wan't an OSX version Numbers to be the same as the IOS version. My old IOS version was perfectly adequate as was my OSX vesrion. I'm not interested in doing this on my phone or iPad BUT when I am at work on my 27" iMac, I don't want to use a piece of software that is written to be more compatible with a mobile device so I couldnt care if the IOS version has a Reorganize panel.
    I'm saying that they (Apple) shouldn't dress this up as V3 of numbers. They should call it
    NUMBERS LITE COMPATIBLE WITH IOS DEVICES
    Which is really what it is, and then most of us who require a serious spreadsheet, wouldn't have bothered downloading it and wasted hours only to find out that it is not fit for purpose.
    The problem I have is that there will no longer be any improvements to V2 so this is now what we are stuck with with the only alternative being to return to Excel, which I hate with a vengence.
    Also, we are stuck with this version if we want to use sheets we create in OSX in our ipads. Once again, not even close to being acceptable.
    All in all, not what I expect from Apple, or is this just the type of thing we have to expect from them now.

    using some background color. Sorting is also provided on TableHeader.
    After selecting some row, when user does the sorting, this selected row
    goes outof visible view of table.
    My requirement is to show the same selected row again after doing sorting. I was thinking of calling method like setSelectedRow(), but
    unfortunately there is nothing like this method.
    I was also thinking of using AccessibleJTable, but couldnt go
    anywhere.
    Is there any way to do this?

  • Sort selected rows using Numbers on an iPad

    I am new to Numbers.  I have spreedsheets in iCloud.  On my MacBook I have figured out how to sort just "selected rows", but have not been as lucky on the same spreedsheet accessed on my iPad.  If I select the rows on Numbers on the iPad the "sort" option does not appear.  If I hit the block above the column it will ask how you want to sort, but this sorts the whole table/spreedsheet.  Is there a way in Numbers using an iPad where you can just "sort selected rows", like on the MacBook?

    Sort is only available for columns in Pages for iOS.

    In [url http://forums.oracle.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=4590586]this post, Nick showed you how to get the Row.
    If it were so urgent, you could have done a little reading of the javadocs to come up with code like this (not tested, up to you to do that)

  • Reorganize function will not allow "select rows that match"

    I'm trying to sort data in a sheet the same way excel lets you sort by using "filter"
    I'm told that using the Reorganize function will allow me to do this especially if I select the "select rows that match" options.
    The only problem is that that options is grayed out and I can't use it.
    Anybody else have any suggestions or instructions>?

    Hello Raja
    The OUTTAB is usually in sync with the display on the frontend grid control because it is a CHANGING parameter (of method SET_TABLE_FOR_FIRST_DISPLAY).
    Question: Do you "feed" ls_grid_ds-outtab to the parameter IT_OUTTAB of method SET_TABLE_FOR_FIRST_DISPLAY?
    If not then it is obvious why you get discrepancies.

  • A selected row in af:table does not get sorted.

    Hi,
    When a table supports single selection and the table contains quantity of rows gt it can fit into its viewport, then, on sorting, selected row gets out of the sorting process. But when you move to the end of the table, select a row there and then sort the table, then all rows sorted correctly. The selected row, after sorting, always set as a first row in the current viewport, doesn't matter whether it is in the order or out of it.
    Noteworthy, when number of rows is lt the viewport allows:
    1. sorting works as it should to;
    2. on sorting/PPR'ing, as it gets some time, one can see how the viewport updates in two steps and in the first step the first row is the selected one.
    JDev's version is 11.1.1.3.0.
    VO, iterator and tree bindings, af:table all the props related to data retrieving, fetching and row displaying have default values.
    What can cause that?

    so what you are saying is that the selected table row is not sorted but added on top. I tried to reproduce this with 11.1.1.3 but can't see the issue. I tried with editable and read-only tables

  • Why is 'Bookmarks' control removed? Please restore 'Bookmark This Page' & ability to easily select its file destination.

    All of a sudden, I can no longer add a Bookmark by selecting 'Bookmark This Page', then select its destination file. Now it's a lot more work to move the new Bookmark to the file I've chosen for its destination. Was this option eliminated, or is something now missing from my 'Bookmarks' drop down menu?
    If this option was removed, would you please restore it as quickly as possible? This is a strong browser changer.

    To make a long story short, I recommend using one of these methods for calling up the "old" dialog in Firefox 29 and 30:
    * right-click the page > Bookmark This Page ''(avoid right-clicking a link, form field, or image, as those have special menus)
    * Ctrl+d
    The longer story is: in the new button, the star icon on the left bookmarks the current page. Like the old star icon that used to sit in the address bar, it simply drops the bookmark into the Unsorted Bookmarks folder. To change the folder, either double-click the star initially, or click it again to call up the Edit Bookmark dialog. This is very similar to the "old" dialog but the default location is Unsorted Bookmarks instead of Bookmarks Menu.
    There might be an add-on to change how this works, but I haven't seen one yet.

    View as Album List was a great feature. Based on comments I have seen on other forums, I am not the only one who thinks so. Please restore this feature. Reasons:1) Images are much easier to see than text. I have reached the age of reading glasses. Before this feature was removed, I could easily find songs / albums in playlists. Now I have to find my glasses beforehand! 2) Images are much more compelling and attractive than text. A picture tells a thousand words etc. The whole look and feel of Spotify is enhanced through the use of album images. Removing them seems like going against good user experience practice. 3) Nostalgia. Although I love Spotify and I firmly believe that subscription is the future of music, I still feel some nostalgia for "possessing" a collection of albums. Displaying album covers reinforces the feeling of having a collection of albums in a playlist. Note that all three arguments apply equally to desktop and iPad versions of Spotify. November 2013: Response to the comments from Spotify...- There is no need for a cmd+G control. All playlists should always display the album cover.- The Collections product was announced almost a year ago but there is no sign of it.- A Collections product that simply displays the thousands of albums that I have ever listened to is not a viable solution in my opinion. I would need multiple collections (i.e.. playlists). May-2014I have created a new idea http://community.spotify.com/t5/Spotify-Ideas/Display-Album-Cover-on-Your-Music-Songs/idi-p/791029 requesting cover art on your music (and playlists). Please give it your kudos. July 2015I note that Apple Music displays album art on playlists on all platforms. 

    Again - We shouldn't have to vote about stuff like this. Of course there should be an album list. And it should also be obvious how to enable it, not just with a keyboard command or obscure menu option. Also - please consider an album view in the mobile apps as well. I have a lot of playlists with just albums, and they are a pain in the ass to use on the Iphone / Ipad.

  • FUNCTION/FORMULA to randomly sort, then select from rows

    Hi! Using Numbers more now but still quite new. VERY used to Apple way and familiar with Automator, at least capable of copy/pasting an Applescript, and somewhat versed in UNIX. Basically need to shuffle all the entries in say "Column A" and maybe "B", and then pick from them and 'print' to a file or some other field or table. At the very least even being able to just make the couple thousand names being entered in to their-own field randomly-sorted would be a BIG help. Just in case I'm not being clear, instead of just sorting ascending or descending. Thank you!!!

    Hi jon,
    Numbers will only sort in ascending or descending order, and sorts whole rows (not individual columns) on the basis of the contents of one or more columns. It will sort the entire table (excepting any header and footer rows), or will sort selected rows.
    If you want to do a random sort of a column of names, you can do it by adding a column, entering this formula into all cells in the column (except header and footer cells), and sorting on the new column.
    =RAND()
    The formula generates a random number between 0 and 1. When the table is sorted, the sort will place those numbers in ascending or descending order (as you choose), but will then immediately calculate a new set of random numbers.
    If you just need to pick a random name form the list, you can use OFFSET and RANDBETWEEN.
    If the names are in column A, starting at A2, this formula, placed elsewhere on the same table, will return a random name from the list:
    =OFFSET($A$1,RANDBETWEEN(1,ROWS($A)-1),0)

    (As you can see from my low number of posts I'm new to ApEx, so any information you can provide is appreciated.)
    Hi,
    I've been asked to include what I consider a heavy duty feature on a report. It has been requested that there is a form region above a report region. The form will have some fields on it to be used to mass update selected rows.
    For instance, let's say the report is a list of employees and their dept and the form has a dropdown dept field that contains a list of depts. They want to be able to select certain employees on the report, then select a dept from the form and then click an Update Rows button. They want the selected rows to be updated with the selected dept. * Also, they don't want the report to be editable. * The only way to update any rows is thru the Update Row button.
    I'm new to ApEx and can code in JavaScript, but am not an expert in either. And, I'm still trying to figure out what JavaScript syntax works in Element Attributes, etc. fields. But, I digress.
    I have looked over several threads, and went to several demo pages, and have learned some things. Hopefully they are correct. If not, please correct me.
    - Using the Row Selector is tricky.
    - You can get the Row Selector on a regular SQL report by changing it to Updateable SQL, adding the Row Selector type, and changing it back.
    - You can only see row information on a column if the column is editable.
    I now have a report that is NOT editable and has NO editable columns. And the report has the Row Selector. Also, the ID (key) of each row is the first column of each row. (It's a link field that populates another page.) With the ID I can populate the correct record. I'm thinking I need to populate the ID again in another column into a text field and then be able to access that value on the selected rows.
    Here's my dilemma. (That is, if I'm on the right track.) I need to know which rows are selected and then access the ID (key value) of that row. After that I can let my PL/SQL do the work.
    - - 1. How does the 2nd ID need to be defined such that people can't edit it, but the value can be retrieved? And, how is this done? I assume something can be put in the Element Attributes. If so, will you please provide the code?
    - - 2. What is the trick to knowing which rows are selected? An example snippet of code would be great here too.
    - - 3. Also, tell me if I'm on the wrong track and need to provide a solution in a different way.
    Sorry for the novel, but I wanted you to have a good idea of what I'm trying to accomplish so you may provide appropriate answers.

    BTW, you don't have to use any JavaScript. When you write your "Update pl/sql process" for the tabular form, just reference you page item which contains the department for your mass update.

  • Get selected rows using the fm REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY_LVC

    FYI ... for all those developers trying to select multiple rows in an ALV report, and get the selected rows - without using the OO approach to display to ALV, and without using checkboxes in the function module approach.  First off, you need to use the function module REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY_LVC instead of the standard REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY.  This allows you to select multiple rows using the toggle, line selection buttons, at the start of each row (with 'select all' button).  See the sample code below.  If you are converting from the one fm to the other, you will have to change the type of 2 of the structures to the 'LVC' structures and make minor code changes.  The example code below was initially using the REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY fm, and was converted to use REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY_LVC  to allow for multiple row selection.  The next step is to create a custom status, with a new custom button, that will start the processing of the selected rows.  Go to tcode SE41, press Copy Status, and copy program SAPLKKBL, status STANDARD, to your custom program (same name as the custom ALV rpt) and a new status name (ie STANDARD1).  In the new STANDARD1 status for the custom ALV program/rpt (tcode SE41), add a new button ('&EXE') at the end of the std buttons (items 29-35).  Assign the new button a Text, Icon and a Function Key. Thats it!

  • How do i copy and paste selected rows from numbers to another numbers worksheet

    I have asked this question before, but it sounds as if numbers did not have the update at that time.  I have pasted a spreadsheet from excel into numbers.  I would now like to take selected rows, for example, row 5, row 9, row 22, row 27, etc, copy these entire rows, and pastte into another blank numbers work sheet.  In excel, one can hold down the ctrl key, and click on each row they want to copy, and all will be copied in one operation,  Than you can paste into a new excel work sheet.  I have tried this on my ipad 2 many times, holding down the command key, and tapping on each row I want to copy.  I just cannot get this to work.  Please let me know how to do this, if numbers even has this possible.  Thanks.

    Command Key.... on ipad? Ddint know there was one.
    As for copying non-continuous ranges, cannot be done on ipad at this time. On a desktop maybe, but i cannot test it right now.
    Each row can be done individually, or you could sort the rows to grab the range you want. To do this (espeically if there is nothing that is unique about them), just make a new column and place a 1 in the cell for each row you want to copy, sort. That will place all your rows together and enable you to copy.paste them back out.
    If you want to preserve the original sort order, make another column (I usually use A for this) and put in =ROW() as the equation. Fill it down for the whole table and copy/paste values over it. now after you do any kind of sorting, you can always return the list to the original sort order.
