CarWash with queue LV 2014.zip ‏183 KB

Hi again Matt.
I came up with 2 solutions for dealing with errors.
1)Generate an error message containing words that let the user know the program must be manually exited due to an error
2)Generate a user event in the consumer loop that lets the producer loop know it must quit the program due to error and show a dialog on the way out
To test this I added a Button named error that enqueues a command that  causes the consumer loop to generates an error
Also quiting the producer loop and releasing the queue was generating an error in the consumer loop which caused it to stop
 from the error case.
That works but badly so a better way was to enqueue a quit command to the consumer loop. Done in both updates.
If I were doing the exam I would use the first in the interests of time. Crude but lets the user know.
I attached both versions in case others were interested.

    The Car wash solution on the sample exam page does not match with the solution discussed in the webcast. A few people have requested the solution discussed in the webcast to be posted. Please see attached.

    Don't look too closely at the solution.  It was meant purely to show architectures and general concepts.  Furthermore, it was not a PERFECT solution.  It was a PASSING solution.  That example was actually somebody's submission for a CLD and they passed.  If there was a functionality missing, that would not be surprising.  A few points marked off, but still passing.
    There are only two ways to tell somebody thanks: Kudos and Marked Solutions

  • Sample CLD (Car Wash) Solution for Review

    Hi,
    This is my first time posting. I am studying to take the CLD and I have attached my solution to the Car Wash sample exam (LV2011) using a PC-Events architecture. I ignored the time constraints for now to see where I stand as far as functionality and style. I tried to be thorough (not creative) with documentation as well. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Great, thanks for the feedback. Any chance you can show me how you use the queue naming and the sub vi in this way? I've played with it but my attempts do nothing to improve the BD.
    Thanks
    Sure,  Here is a copy of my PC loop (events) template with the consumer loop as a sub-vi (Type Defs disconnected)
    (NOTE: my template contains vi documentation template as well)  This won't save you on the CLD exam since the shipping templates are all you can use.  But having your own for "Real Life" sure speeds up programming time.

  • PLEASE REVIEW THIS LOG REPORT 4 COMP/KEYBOARD/MOUSE FREEZE..FANS CYCLE FAST

    MY COMP STATS ARE BELOW..
    as of late my g5 on random occasion will freeze up, the keyboard and mouse freeze, the caps lock button will not light up, plugging in new mouses wont work, the fans speed up like **** coming to earth..none of the keyboard shortcuts work. my only option is to keep dpoing a hard shutdown by holding the power button. i dont have any new recently installed software..
    - the light near the power button that is suppose to blink a color code to advise of certain issues is not blinking at all, nor has it changed color.
    - the freezes happen at random..sometimes not for days or a week and today it happened twice in 2 hours..
    - and my apple warranty is up..
    - i have recently started using a hp photosmart C4480 printer/scanner which i did not install any software..it worked plug and play.
    im not overly computer tech savy..i posted the log from after a freeze down below..
    IF ANYONE IS GOOD WITH READING THE LOGS MAYBE YOU CAN TELL ME OR DECIPHER WHAT MAY BE CAUSING THE FREEZES??
    i see some messages that look like its a bad thing or something is outdated but i dont know what exactly its referring too..maybe some experianced user can point something out?
    - maybe a software upgrade or removal is needed?
    if i did not post enough info for u to access my issue let me know what else you need to know please...system specs..software..whatever..
    i cant afford to upgrade to 10.4 and the system is showing no hardware issues when i run the hardware scanning disc..
    i cannot seem to find my utility disc to run those scans..any place i can download anything to do other scans,,

  • Please Review This VO Breakdown...

    Afternoon Folks!
    I have done a VO mix in Adobe Soundbooth. With the help of an engineer giving me pointers, a few web tutorials, and a little experimenting on my own, I think I've got a pretty good mix I'm happy with. Now, I just want to do a final tweak and develop a "best practices" method for doing these types of VO projects in the future.
    Please take a look at this breakdown of my project work flow:
    Applied Vocal Enhancer - Default
    Applied Normalize process
    Appled Reduce Noise process
    Applied Compressor for Voice - Subtle
    Applied EQ Graphic: Bass Management
    Applied Mastering: Hot - Mild
    Applied Convolution Reverb effect
    My first question is, what order should the final work flow be in? I was thinking I should possibly move things like reverb higher in the list and save the mastering step till last. What do you think?
    Secondly, please take a look at this screen shot of the before and after.
    The first is after I've compressed it (Step 4 above). You'll see that the dynamics seem to even out. However, in the second screen shot they seem to be off balance by the end. Is this normal?

    UPDATE:
    Upon further investigation into the process, I'm finding that all those high peaks that seems to shoot upward from a generally even waveform is because of sibilance.
    I played the wave form back and those peaks ONLY occur during those instances when I'm saying a strong "S" sound.
    I already have a vocal enhancer applied early on, which seems not to help to much. Anything I can do to reduce those issues so I can maximize my headroom while lowering those sibilance peaks?
    Thanks!

  • Please Review This Game

    Could anyone please check out this game I developed for a Software Design assignment. We have to make an evaluation so if I could get some feedback, good/bad/constructive... it would be helpful.
    The setup package is about 6.5Mb.
    http://www.angelfire.com/wizard2/neozenith/CypherSetup.exe
    The game is supposed to recreate Master Mind. The game itself has some graphics problem because the GIF's are too large to render and I am using a Timer to update them. The HTML renderer for the Help Screen is also rather sluggish. Any help or recommended improvements can be directed to
    [email protected]
    Please Note that the Java runtime environment 1.4.2_04 is required to run. I haven't tried bacwards compatibility testing. I know this post is long but thanks for bearing with me.
    Cheers.

    There may be a better way to do this now, but here's something I whipped up way back when to
    circumvent a bug in the old 1.1.5 JVM included with Netscape. 4x.
    It does in fact get an image form a jar.
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.io.InputStream;
    public class ImageFromJar
    public ImageFromJar()
                   // returns an Image retrieved from a jar file
    public Image getImageFromJar(String fileName)
       if( fileName == null )
           return null;
       Image image = null;
       byte[] tn = null;
       Toolkit toolkit = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit();
       InputStream in = getClass().getResourceAsStream(fileName);
       try
          int length = in.available();
          tn = new byte[length];
          in.read(tn);
          image = toolkit.createImage(tn);
       catch(Exception exc)
          System.out.println( exc +" getting resource " +fileName );
          return null;
       return image;
    } Have fun ;)

  • Please help - this computer already associated with an apple id

    We have 5 family members all using the same mac, each with their own login and password.  Each person also has a seperate apple id/ itunes account - and we want to download all the music onto the hard drive.
    When I go to do that for one of my daughters - it worked.  Now I am trying to do the second one - and it says that
    this computer is already associated with an Apple ID
    You can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days.  You cannot associate this computer with a different Apple ID for 83 days.
    Any ideas...I am sure that this was developed for a good reason - but certainly not a family friendly policy where we are trying to upgrade and save everyone's stuff!
    Any help or guidance is welcomed....

    I don't have a good suggestion, but I can offer some educational material:
    This article discusses what assocating a device to your Apple ID means.  It also talks about the differences between associating and authorizing.  That difference is probably the key to your success.

  • Car Wash Review

    Hi All -
    I'm planning on taking the CLD in a week and a half or so. Would any of you mind reviewing my car wash practice exam? I posted some other practice exams in June, but I have changed my approach and would appreciate another review.
    Thanks!

    Overall Very nicely designed I think you pretty much understand what you did right.  So accept my appologies in advance for nitpicking on the areas you can improve in the next week.
    BD Size.  Get them more compact! most are saved with way too much whitespace.  The difference is night and day about how much actual information the developer can fit on one screen white space just hides another pane that could present information
    Lets look at that same AE Again. a couple more edits are desirable.  See notes in snippet.
    Again nice work

  • I cannot sign in.  "This Apple ID has not yet been used with the iTunes Store.  Please review your account information."  I click "Review", next message "You must turn on cookies to continue.   Cookies must be enabled if you want to create or edit.. etc."

    I applied and received an upgrade code to Redeem Mountain Lion for my new MBP.
    I get this message when I try to Sign in to the App Store after entering the redemption content code, and also if I just try to "Sign In".   The first part of the error is true - I haven't used the AppleID with the iTunes store.
    I received the upgrade code using this same AppleID, so I don't think I can use a different AppleID.
    I also tried to re-create this appleID...(it was one suggestion I saw for this issue) It doesn't let me since the ID already exists...
    The error is:
    "This Apple ID has not yet been used with the iTunes Store.  Please review your account information."  I click "Review", next message "You must turn on cookies to continue.   Cookies must be enabled if you want to create or edit.. etc."
    It's clearly not a cookie issue..   Stuck...

    The first part of the error is true - I haven't used the AppleID with the iTunes store.
    Try here >  Using an existing Apple ID with the iTunes Store and Mac App Store
    received the upgrade code using this same AppleID, so I don't think I can use a different AppleID.
    Correct.
    It's clearly not a cookie issue..
    As for cookies. Quit the App Store. Now open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder.
    Type this exactly as you see it here:   ~/Library/Cookies
    Click Go the move the   com.apple.appstore.plist   file from the Cookies folder to the Trash.
    Relaunch the App Store.

    I have an Apple ID and trying to sign in for the 1st time on iTunes. When I do, I get the message: "This Apple ID has not been used with the iTunes Store. Please review your account information." When I do, it brings me to the same AppleID login window, and I get stuck in the same loop. I never get to the following screen to enter my account info. What's going on?? This is MADDENING!

    If you want to use it, click Review and check your account information.  Or you could contact the store support staff if you are concerned at http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html for further help.

  • This account has not yet been used with itunes store.Please review your account information

    I get this message everytime I try to sync my iTunes to my iPhone "This account has not yet been used with itunes store.Please review your account information" When I originally bought apps I used my dads iTunes account, but my dad recently passed away and his accounts have (or should have) been closed. I just recently set up a new Apple I.D. and tried to use this, but that's when I get the message.
    iTunes authorization automatically defaults to my dads Apple I.D., so I enter my new I.D. and the message appears "This account has not yet been used with itunes store.Please review your account information".
    I'm frustrated, any ideas? I really don't have the money to pay Apple to fix this!
    Thanks

    I changed my dads password, then went back to sync my apps and when it came to the Authorization, I entered his account name and the new password (which was by the way accepted and changed correctly) to have it come up on the screen as the incorrect password...REALLY!!! I went back and changed the password again...guess what? Same result "inncorect password".
    As I mentioned my dad PASSED AWAY, there is no way I can ask him what his password originally was, i can't accesses his email account as it no longer exists.
    What am I supposed to do, this is very frustrating.
    If I use my new account that's in my name, the Authorization screen just keeps asking for my Dads account.

  • "This Apple ID has not yet been used with the ITunes Store" Please review your account information.

    I keep getting a message saying "This Apple ID has not yet been used with the ITunes Store" Please review your account information.  Which I have and nothing happens - keep getting the same message. Please HELP me !!! My daughter is very upset that she can't download music or games onto her new IPOD.

    I solved my problem by installing all updates for Windows from the Windows Update website.  Hadn't done this for quite a while, once all updated. got the same message but then selected 'Review' after getting the 'Review your account information' button, then selected continue on next page and it took me to the billing account page, once that was set up, all was fine.

  • Car Wash CLD Sample Exam Solution

    Attached is my solution to the CLD Car Wash Sample Exam.  Comments will be appreciated.  The main VI is Main_6.15.10.
    Thanks in advance.

    Here are my thoughts....
    Your solution is functional, so there are points for that right away.  Where I think there could be some more work is the architecture.  The exam requirements state that the design must be "easily scalable".  To me that means new states or cycles can be added without much messing about on the block diagram.  If you notice, there are only certain... lets call them Properties of each cycle type.  You could have an array of cycle properties such as cycle time, cycle position switches, cycle name, and flags for standard or deluxe.  Then you could reduce your cycle handling to a single state that just indexes through the cycle array and executed the next appropriately flagged cycle.
    I noticed a Select node in each of your cycle states with constant True and False wired to it.  That is a total of three elements plus two wires that should have just been a Not right off of the Boolean palette.
    You stop the program with a Stop button, yet you allow the user to close the window.  You should consider a Panel Close? event in your event structure to handle a use trying to close the window so that you can execute a graceful stop.
    There is no VI Description filled out for your main VI.  You should also have an icon for the main VI.  The suggested front panel shown in the exam has an icon.
    When your VI is running, you have the scrollbars, toolbar, and menu bar shown.  None of those serves any function for the application, so they should not be shown at runtime.
    The Stop button that is used to stop your application is reset with a Property Node.  Not that there is a performance issue here, but it is generally not good practice to do that unless you are forced to.  Consider just using a Mechanical Action of Latch When Released instead of Switch When Released.  That way you do not need to force the reset to the False state.  Of course, I would rather see something like a Stop state writing to the While Loop conditional terminal.  Also, you could have used a Local Variable to write the initial state of the Sim Switches instead of the Property Node.
    The graders like to see code comments describing your algorithms.  I would say that you need more of those.
    A 10 msec timeout on the event structure is a bit hyper.  Nothing in the system runs that fast, and the only thing you are waiting for is the user.  You could actually have a -1 wired there if you add an event case for the Stop button and Panel Close.  It will greatly reduce the CPU cycles (again not that there is a huge performance issue here).
    Come to think of it, the 20 msec wait for next multiple timer is a bit hyper too.  Your timing requirements are on the order of seconds.  You do not need to loop that fast.
    In general I prefer to have the Event Structure outside the State Machine.  Either that, or I use the Event Structure as the State Machine (in place of the Case Structure).  That way, if you need to respond to the user interface, you can do so without waiting to cycle back to the Idle state.
    This one was not listed in the requirements, but it would be very helpful to see the clock.  A cycle countdown timer or elapsed time indicator is so helpful to the user and the grader.  It confirms that things are working properly and the the application has not sieved up.  Users like to see something "alive" on the screen.
    To end on a positive... good job remembering to Disable the Purchase Selection buttons once the user clicks one.  I got ding'd for forgetting about that back when I took the CLD in 2003.
