Please save my wedding slideshow!

Hi,
I get married on 22nd July. I wanted to play a slideshow at the venue of family/friends/loved ones in backround. I created this in iphoto originally, but last week, to my horror, when i exported it to idvd it was all jerky and rubbish (using lots of Ken Burns pan and zoom). So gave up on that and have spent the last few days creating my slideshow in imovie.
My trouble now is, everything was working fine, i had all the photos lined up in the timeline viewer and was adding the relevant transition and pan effects etc when i stopped and save. When i went back in awhile later to continue, I cannot continue where i left off (half way through) as whenever I select a photo to edit-with the media button pressed and photo tab highlighted so "show photo
settings" button is revealed, all i get is a black screen?!
So to reiterate-the photo is selected in the timeline viewer, i click show photo settings (so i can add my pan and zoom) and all i get is a black screen. The first half of the slideshow is unaffected.
Please help me!!!

When you empty the iMovie 6 Trash, there's a bug that (inappropriately) discards the copy of the source image iMovie stores inside the project. That makes it impossible to Update the clip later. When you try, that turns the clip black.
Lots more here, with some workarounds:

I have been working on a wedding slideshow for days and have over 3,000 pictures in albums on iPhoto.  It suddenly will not open without upgrading to Aperture and I can't find any of my photos!!!!  I need these photos, to complete the video, not to mention I don't want to lose them. I have had trouble ever since upgrading  to Maverick.

    Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window.
    2 - Run Option #4, Rebuild Database.

  • How do I save an iPhoto slideshow on my macbook air externally?

I have a macbook air (no CD slot) and am unsure how i can save an iPhoto slideshow externally from my mac.
In the past (on my packard bell laptop) I have always burned photos to a dvd and feel comfort knowing I have the pics externally  if anything should happen to the laptop.
I am still within my 14 day money back for the mac and am unsure whether i should change it for a macbook pro which has a cd slot.
Anybody any ideas how I can solve my problem and keep my macbook air?
Also, does my iPhoto slideshow stay in the iCloud?  Not sure how iCloud works.
    Thanks in advance.

Get yourself an external Hard Drive - USB, Thunderbolt, whatever your machine has ports for - and make back ups to that. DVD and other optical media is going the way of the floppy disk and in 5 years time you'll find it hard to get any machine with a built-in optical drive.
Once you get the drive make sure it's formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) - you do this with Disk Utility
    Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store
You can also export the slideshow - File -> Export -  this process makes a movie of it.

  • The last 'An' update has bug; An error occurred. Please save your work and restart Edge Animate

After the last Edge Animate I started to get this error:  An error occurred. Please save your work and restart Edge Animate.  Anyone else having this issue with version 1.5.0.217.23270
    I'm using Windows 7 Profession 64 bit.
    24 gb ram
At the time of the error on timeline, around 21 second frame, only 4.82 gb of ram was being used and CPU was using less that 10% processing. No spikes.

    Elaine,
On the webserver its running fine for being partially completed.  http://dirtyhumanoids.com/publish/web/TonalpohualliAndTheEyeOfProvidence.html
It's crashing within Animate on all 3 copies.
Copy 1 was created and saved before last upgrade (no .
Copy 2 of this file was created before the update and saved a few times before and after the upgrade.
Copy 3, is just trying to figure out what went wrong with copy 2.  BTW, Copy 1 is also having the same issue.
The only thing I can think of that I might have messed up on was creating a picture into a symbol much late in the project.
I wish I knew how to video record my desktop so you could analysis my Edge Animate.

    Matt

  • "An error occurred while opening the file dialog. Please save your presentation, exit, and restart PowerPoint."

In PowerPoint 2013 on Windows 7 - 64 bit, when
File / Save as is selected, an error message comes up stating, "An error occurred while opening the file dialog. Please save your presentation, exit, and restart PowerPoint." This is an intermittent issue and also
affects Excel 2013. I have tried repairing it, done windows update and also uninstalled and reinstalled but no luck. I have researched this issue but it relates to Office 2007 and 2010 and the resolution does not support 2013.
Has anyone come across this issue? If so how did you resolve it?
    Many thanks….

    Hi,
You mentioned you tried some steps but I'm not sure what they are, you may try my suggestion to resolve this issue, follow these steps:
    Click Start, right-click Computer, click
Properties, and then click Advanced system settings.
On the Advanced tab, click Environment Variables.
Locate and select the __COMPAT_LAYER variable, and then click Edit.
Set the value of the __COMPAT_LAYER variable to EnableThemes. Or, delete the __COMPAT_LAYER variable.
If the issue persists, we can troubleshoot this problem in Clean Boot to determine whether background programs are interfering with PowerPoint:

  • "There is not enough virtual memory available. Please save your work and restart {0}"

This seems to be the most recent similar post. Prior posts are not useful as they have supposedly been fixed.  The most relevant Microsoft connect case has been closed.  The reported new Microsoft connect case has been deleted without explanation.
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/expression/en-US/294b17e4-c986-4dc3-9fa6-b246a50a4339/vs-2013-update-4-there-is-not-enough-virtual-memory-availableerror?forum=visualstudiogeneral
Yet, still the problem persists.  Only working on one small XAML file. VS2013 and Blend always report "There is not enough virtual memory available. Please save your work and restart {0}" (except when they report "Package 'DesignPackage'
failed to load" when run in safe mode) Saved my work and restarted VS2013, Blend, and the computer. Followed all other suggestions as much as possible.
There is an abundant available and virtual memory.  The only changes from last week to this is Microsoft updates.
Has there been any new effort on this issue that I have missed?
    What is left to do?

Get IT to do it. Get them to uninstall all the latest updates, since you can identify them as a proximal cause of the problem. Also, search MS Knowledge Base or do some googling for the exact error text.

  • Please save my FreeHand :(

My FreeHand 11.0.2 was working fine under 10.5.4 (Intel
MacBook), until I installed a security update 2008-005 (at least I
suspect that's the reason). After that FreeHand jumps in the dock
and nothing happens, a common problem (sigh) the answer to which
    was a HotFix here
    http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_18933
I'm not sure how to use that hotfix, I've just double clicked
it and it said success, but FH still didn't work. Then I found out
that a PPC process named AuthenticationS(ervice) blocks 99% of my
CPU while FH is trying to start. The Console also had some lines
about that. I killed the process in the Activity Monitor (it asked
for the admin pass) and then FH did start in the background. I've
tried that several times and had to start it that way.
Then I googled for macromedia authentication and found a lot
of problems. Anyway, I wanted to wipe out every instance of
AuthenticationService from my machine (the Macromedia problems
should be solved by thrashing the Macrovision folder, etc) and I
did delete it from Library/App support, User Library/App support,
FH contents/Shared support etc... Then FH refused to start with a
warning that it's architecture isn't supported. Then I deleted FH
and reinstalled it (no boxes for serial number or anything came
    up), but this time
4-5 AuthenticationService processes were blocking 99% of my
CPU and I couldn't kill them, or when I did manage to kill one,
another one popped in immediately, and it only stopped when I quit
FH app. HotFix doesn't help. I've tried to reinstall it numerous
times, delete it with AppZapper, only delete certain
AuthenticationService files, nothing helps... Please save my
FreeHand, I know there are alternatives like LineForm or Inkscape
or Intaglio or Illustrator or whatever but I want my FH back!
    :(

    Hello adobebody,
A year ago I experienced the same problem. Thought I’d
lost my Freehand forever until I stumbled across a solution.
Here’s a post I later made to someone that was having a
similar problem. I will reprint the whole thing instead of trying
to edit it to fit your situation. And pardon me if this fix has
    already been suggested.
Good luck getting your Freehand back!
I may be able to help. On Monday morning my Freehand 11.0.2
went into a coma, exhibiting the same symptoms you describe, with
the added feature of Photoshop (9.0.2) going bad after everytime I
attempted to launch FH. Only a restart would get PS going again.
Freehand -- nothing would get it going.
I spent a good part of 2.5 days trying every trick I know to
get the damn thing to launch with no success. I reinstalled
Freehand, Photoshop and Mac OS X 10.4.10 combo updater, more than
    once; ran Disk Utility, DiskWarrior and Onyx multiple times;
deleted and/or replaced with older versions from my backup drive,
many different .plist (preferences) files; and a whole bunch of
other stuff suggested on Mac help sites. Including from Adobe:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_18933&sliceId=1
Which didn’t work for me, but you should try it. Who
    knows?
Anyways, still no FH but looking at the Activity Monitor (
    FINDER > Go > Utilities > Activity Monitor ) I discovered
that whenever I tried to launch FH it stalled (and became an
“inactive process”) and another process called
“AuthenticationSe” led the list for CPU usage but did
nothing and the computer had to be restarted to regain stability --
stable except for the FH problem of course.
So an “Authentication” issue, and the activation
glitch mentioned in the Adobe link above, eventually led me to the
solution (won’t get into the how and the why because I really
    don’t know).
Unfortunately this requires that you have a backup of your
system from back when Freehand still worked. If you don’t,
sorry about that -- hopefully the HotFix above worked, or someone
else has a suggestion based on the following idea:
Restart your computer, repair permissions, verify your disk,
repair disk if necessary, standup and shout FREEHAND ROCKS, restart
    again, then....
Uncover a folder called “Product Licenses” on
    your startup drive.
Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences > Macrovision
    > Safecast > Product Licenses
The folder looks empty, but there’s got to be something
important inside that you can’t see. Replace the Product
Licenses folder on your startup drive with the Product Licenses
folder from the same location on your backup drive or disk (from
when FH worked). Maybe don’t let the folder on the startup
drive get overwritten by the older version, but remove it to the
desktop -- just in case you need to put it back.
Now try to launch Freehand. If this works you’ll get
the startup screen (yay) and the message that you need to activate
your software and you’ll be taken to an Adobe registration
    page and there you go.
    Good luck.

  • An error occurred. please save your work and restart edge animate! First time I try to open Edge Animate.

I just tried starting on an Edge Animate project for the first time. When I open the application the splash screen does NOT show up. So I pressed cmd-N to create a new file, this created a black file without any measurements, and when I try to set the height and width the error (An error occurred. please save your work and restart edge animate) pops up. I tried reinstalling and it didn't help. What should I do?

  • Using music in wedding slideshows

    Howdy,
I want to make wedding slideshows for money. I understand that there are legal issues with using copyrighted music in a work and then selling it. At the same time, I also know that there is a way around this, as people do it all the time. That's why I'm here.
What's the legal way to use copyrighted music in a wedding slideshow, and then sell it for profit?
Do I have to have the customer prove that they own the CD, or buy the song from iTunes, and then agree not use it for anything but personal use? Any information regarding this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Ideally, you should use should use the original file instead of MP3/AAC.
And you don't use MP3 in Final Cut Express.
See this -> Final Cut Pro and Final Cut Express: Convert MP3 and AAC audio files for compatibility before importing

  • SOS! SOS! My system is stuck by Norton Ghost! Please save me

Alright, i initiated norton ghost to image my system and everything went up in smoke!!
My computer got stuck on the : Booting from PC DOs screen and would not load ghost to proceed to the image.
i tried reseting the computer and it'll just get stuck there!!!
eeekk...i spent 4 days installing the sytem and i really really do not want to format it it again...
    someone please save me

hmmm first how bout some system stats..
is your psu up to spec( yeah yeah i know usual scape goat question) biut it is highly recomended that you have a healthy 20+amp 12v rail.
    you mention scsi..
i saw some threads that a certain model adaptec card had some problems.
i have read in maxpc magazine that norton ghost had some problems with a sata raid array(needed to add a /plus some text code to work) maybey that is a question for norton tech support..puely a guess though.
it reallly shouldn't be that hard to set up your system though...
if  your memory and psu is fine, try unpluging sound card..usb devices, check for grounded case( did you use the bhrass stabndoffs tro mount your mobo. is your psu overloaded by 8 drives a heavy duty graphics card etc.. try to go to basics and go from there.
did your windows system have scsi drivers loaded? may need f6 install from fresh..
can you see the drive in bios... is bios  boot order correct..
is cableling good.. tried other capples, check for creases, missing power etc..

  • Copy and save pictures from slideshow

I have a dvd slideshow of my wedding pictures and I need to know if I'm able to copy and save each picture within the slideshow using adobe photoshop elements 5.0, can I?

Sorry to disagree but this isn't right.
I copy and paste on my PC and it works just fine to view on anything so if what you're saying is right then it would surely do the same on a PC.
Aslo it IS saving the image in the body of the ad because if I view it on another mac it displays correctly.
I'm not sure what you mean by you upload the pictures at the end. I want to type a bit about the product, then have a picture, then type some more and maybe put some more pics. Like this
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180637405596&ssPageName=STR K:MESELX:IT#ht1600wt1141
    or this
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180635082165&ssPageName=STR K:MESELX:IT#ht1266wt1141
The only difference here is these were created on a PC.
I must add on thing though. When I'm trying to add the pictures, I have them open in "preview" and I crop them by using the instant alpha cutting tool. Then I copy and paste it. I've even tried savingit as a jpeg file and a bmp file and makes no difference.
    Thanks

  • How to save a video/slideshow project on my PC in a format that is still editable in elements?

I'm trying to save a file as a back-up so I need to save it to my PC in a file format that is editable in elements 8

Simply save the project file from the slideshow editor interface, after adding your video and stills.
To find your saved projects type PSESS into the Organizer search bar.

  • How do i save an iPhoto slideshow to a disk, how do i save an iPhoto slideshow to a disk

I have created a slideshow with iPhoto and need to burn a disk of it.  How do I do that?

Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  Select Size = Medium or Large or 480p.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • How do I save/export a slideshow for showing on a DVD player?

What are the magical settings that let me create a DVD of an iPhoto slideshow, so I can play it in my DVD (Blu-Ray incidentally) through my flat-screen TV?

Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  Select Size = Medium or Large.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.

If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
