Please...someone give me some ideas

I have a new 5.5 ipod. I downloaded a video podcast that is in mpeg-4 format which I think is ok because other tv shows I've downloaded are in that form. It gives me a message that it can't put that video on my ipod because my ipod doesn't support or play that. Any suggestions on how to get this on my ipod? the specific videocast is called "portcitypd" episode 3 to be exact. Thanks for any help. Just want to make sure my ipod doesn't have something screwy going on.

From where did you download this podcast? If it's from a 3rd party program,it may not alyways be what it seems. Meaning, it may SAY that it's mp4, but it really isn't. Right click on it and get info. The file may be corrupt. Try downloading another podcast, a reliable one, one that's sure to work. Try multiple ones, if it still doesn't work, then there may be something else wrong, but if all ther other podcasts work, then it's probably that one podcast that's corrupt.

Adobe Reader works well with Snow Leopard. What doesn't is its crappy internet plug-in. Quit all browsers, open /Lbrary/Internet Plug-ins, and remove these two:
AdobePDFViewer.plugin
AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin
Relaunch your browsers and that should do the trick. For better viewing of PDFs in a browser, something I'm loath to do, install the Schubert plugin.

Web services are emerging as a new approach to system construction and will make a major impact on the engineering of future business systems. They will allow a move from enterprise to inter-enterprise computing. However, with inter-enterprise computing, there are major problems with providing access to shared data, given that enterprises will not wish to share all data with partners.
This project aims to investigate this problem by developing a prototype of an access control service that will help decide whether or not data access should be permitted. In essence, companies will outsource their access control to this service and so will not need to maintain their own access control lists for a potentially rapidly changing set of users.

Well, the approach I've come accross is a central server which is typically accessed indirectly from the web servers (e.g. through SOAP protocol or RMI).
The remote server sends a user id and a password (or more likely a digest of the password), and receives a session token, basically just a random string of characters which is checked with the central server each time a secure transaction is attempted. The token will be stored in a session object, or perhaps directly in a cookie or in the URLs.
Active session tokens are stored on the central server for comparison. This means the password doesn't have to be retained in the server.
It's possible for the session token to be transfered if the user switches from one site to another on the same authentication server.
Sun distributes one of these beasties, by the way, so you could take a look at their product specs.

Hello-can someone give me some assistance in re-naming/organising my (downloaded) photos?

hello. I have a Powershot A470 that's a breeze to use. Canon did a wonderful job with this little gem- I love this camera and have no complaints about IT.
Using the some functions of the auxiliary software (Zoombrowser EX), however, is an entirely different story:
After downloading the (348!) images from one of my memory cards onto my pc I went looking for a certain photo (Using Zoombrowser EX) -well, ALL those pics showed up together (in apparently random order) in the "main window ". ..they're also listed in the left-side box as "Recently downloaded" where they ARE sorted by "shooting date-"for what good that does. so I attempted to separate and organise them. Nuts. Couldn't figure out how so went to Canon website for help, found -the relevant "Software Guide" -- a help it was NOT.
all I want to do is sort this mass of photos into a few different 'folders' (or whatever) with a written caption/ shooting date in addition to ( or instead of) the image numbers which were the sole identifiers. I figured out how to make the shooting date visible but that's all. text doesn't SEEM like it'd be hard to add but my attempt was an absolute FAIL
Can anyone give me some simple instructions on separating some of my photos into different, new files with names and maybe keywords? Or maybe point me in the right direction for guidance?

In the left margin of ZoomBrowser EX, there is a [View and Classify] button. If you click on this button, you can select a group of images, then click on [Rename Multiple Files] to change the naming scheme for each image to something that works better for you. Once you do that, you can use the [Classify into Folder] option to move groups of images into a new folder structure.
If you like to search images by keyword, you can take that same group of images, click on the [Tools] dropdown menu, then click on [View/Modify Keywords] to add your own keywords to the images or use some of the keywords that are pre-loaded.

Final Year Project! Please give me some idea!

I'm doing an individual final year project using IBM Aglet, JRun and J2ME. The topic is "Mobile agent shopping system", better with some theories. I have no idea about what types of application should be done. Initially, I intended to build a system for the customers to search for the products in a shopping mall with data mining recommendation(e.g. association-Apriori), but my supervisor want me to give him a new idea because previous students has built similar application (but using classification in data mining).
My supervisor has another 3 students doing the same project, but one of them doing a restaurant reservation system, another one has many multimedia in his system. The last one - I don't know. It seems that my project has no "selling points". I don't want to think of a quite complicated one as my programming skill is not so good. But the big problem is the project is restricted to a shopping mall. There is not much can be done. The project will be handed in 2 months later. I'm afraid that I can't hand it in on time. Does anyone have any suggestion on the topic. I have thought of this many times, but my supervisor still does not satisfy with it.

Your daughter's +iPod touch+ should just be connected to the BT router (Homehub?) in the same fashion as her laptop. Simply switch the WiFi on in settings, select the SSID (i.e. BT Homehub-3E4D) and then enter the password/key which is on a label on the device (unless you've changed it). I take it from what you say that you use an ad-hoc network with your PC to get your +iPod touch+ working (i.e. the PC has to be on for the +iPod touch+ to connect) but that you want to use the router (sensible! )

Can anyone give me some ideas/settings for night scape photos w/ a full or partial moon in them?

I have been trying to get night time "landscape" photos with a full or partial moon in them. The mountains, water, sky and stars all come out great but the moon and its reflection come out very bright, round and pretty blurry. I usually use my kit lens, tripod, shutter remote;100 to 400 ISO, 8-30 seconds on the shutter speed, aperture 4 to 8,10,16...,metering mode "spot", and using the Manual zone. Is there a way to "get it all"? ~Thanks!

You can do this... but the "trick" is to take the shot the evening BEFORE the "full" moon moon and not the of the full moon.
Whenever you have substantially mixed lighting problems (bright moon, dark city), you usually want to look for ways to bring the radically different exposure needs closer together so that the exposure needs from the moon are not so substantially different than the exposure needs of the city. By shooting the cityscape at "dusk" instead of at "night" you are helping to bring the exposures closer together AND usually a deep blue (end of dusk) sky color looks more appealing than a black sky anyway.
The moon rises a bit later each day (since there are 24 hours in a day but there are about 29.5 days in a Lunar month). The actual time between moonrises varies a bit.
You want to be in position a bit before sunset. You'll notice that the moon actually appears to be pretty much "full" one day before it it is technically the official "full" moon. But since you are taking the shot a day early, you'll get a dusky blue sky behind the full moon rather than a black sky. On the night of the full moon, the Earth is between the Sun and Moon -- so the moonrise actually occurs "at" sunset. At that time, however, the moon will be right on the horizon and not up high enough to be visible over the buidlings in your city nightscape shot. By the time the Moon is high enough, dusk will have completely ended and the sky will be black.
By getting there a a day EARLY, there will still be some light once the Moon is high enough. This will completely change your exposure.
The Moon looks best photographed with something called the "Loony 11" rule -- which suggests a correct exposure with f/11 and setting the shutter speed to the inverse of the ISO speed. So at ISO 100 you'd use 1/100th sec if you are using f/11 (and if you use something other than f/11 you can change the shutter speed to compensate.) But this rule is for when the moon is high. Nearer to moonrise the thick atmosphere will reduce the amount of light and will likely require an extra stop to expose (e.g. you may need to slow the shutter to 1/50th at ISO 100 with f/11 - use a tripod or boost ISO speed slightly (I'd use a tripod).
Incidentally, if you use a long focal length it will create the illusion of a very large moon relative to the size of the cityscape below.
You can use the "Photographer's Ephemeris" website (or application) to your advantage here. I use a mobile app named "Sun Surveyor" but I see the folks who made the "Photographer's Ephemeris" website have also created an app. The idea behind it is you give it the location and date and it will tell you not only the rise & set times for the Sun and Moon... it'll visually plot the position angle (compass heading) and altitude angle up from the horizon for any time of the day. And they also use a map. So... suppose you want to get a picture of a city with the moon just above a specific building... the website and/or app will tell you exactly where you need to stand AND at what time you need to be standing there to get that shot with the moon precisely where you want it to be.

Both of these do "roughly" the same thing (I first learned about Photographer's Ephemeris... but at that time the only way to use them was via their website and desktop app (which is free, btw) -- they didn't have an app. So you had to use your computer to pre-plan you shot before leaving home.) That was great -- but didn't help me on vacations where my computer is back at home.
Then I learned about Sun Surveyor (which was basically Photographer's Ephemeris... but in "App" form for my iOS mobile device.) After I bought Sun Surveyor (it's a few dollars).... Photographer's Ephemeris launched their own app. So now you have at least a couple of options.

Can you give me some ideas on which to buy between macbook air and macbook pro?

     I am going to start another year in college very soon and I need a laptop to handle my school work or projects. I don't know what to choose between Macbook Air 13" (2013) and Macbook Pro 13" (RAM 8GB - Not Retina Display). Here are what I need to do on computer:
     - Long time surfing through the internet.
     - Social network : Facebook, Instagram, Line, Skype ....
     - Watching movies online (mayb more than 3-4 hours)
     - Typing documents or making slide shows.
     - A lot of documents, HD videos/movies, photos and music.
     - Using some graphic/plan design programs such as CorelDraw, Photoshop, Illustrator, AutoCad and so on. (Monthly but I still have to use it.)
     - Games are no needed cuz m not a gamer.
     That's all or maybe more, but I can't think of right now. My money is around 1500$. If you guys think I might need Air, should I configure it to match my expectations? I hope to having some good ideas from you. Thanks in advanced.

Ive got BOTH the Pro and AIr youre interested in, for what YOU say you want, Id get the Air.
Since you said you were only going to "some graphic/plan design programs", the Air is perfect for moderate Photo editing.
and you said no games.
Air has fewer parts, only one moving part (the fan), lite as an Ipad (almost) but a full powered computer.
No HD heads to crash, fewer parts = simplicity = less to fault.
Runs cooler than anything else out there (which = durability). Heat is a killer on a scale of 10X over that of accidents.
Pack around a regular notebook around about 20 days, then an Air, .....after that the standard laptops stays at home.
Air is the only Mac that has Haswell, 802ac wifi, and incredible 12hr. batt life in 13" I5.
Get the 13" much longer battery life, and the screen real estate is better, Ive owned both 11" and 13".     13" also has an SD card slot the 11" doesnt have.

That's the million dollar question.
You could split them in half and re-enable 50% of them. If it doesn't crash, then you know the culprit resides somewhere in the remaining half.

If you want a consecutive order, you have to hold that number in db or can get the number by web service. As an inspiration:
When form is initialized, you can create an inactive Purchase order in the database which has a unique incremental key and show that number in PO Number area. If the form is submitted you can update the PO and activate it.
