Please support Mac OS X Spaces

This goes for all Adobe software. Spaces has been available for 2 years and yet no update to CS3 or CS4 has improved compatibility. It's an OS feature that's not going anywhere. Adobe applications routinely open documents in two different spaces. Or the UI in one space and a file dialog box in another. It's really annoying.  I can't think of any other professional software that behaves under so poorly underspaces.

You'll have to ask Apple why some apps show the bugs and some apps don't.   Apple's code does seem to be better behaved with Cocoa based applications (aka: Apple's own apps) and less well behaved with Carbon based applications (aka: all other large applications).
Please note that the Adobe apps share little or no UI code, so the cause cannot be something specific to Adobe apps.
We've seen the same sorts of bugs in almost every non-Apple application we've tested with Spaces.
We've documented the bugs we found, and sent them to Apple with details.
Space was supposed to work as-is with all applications.  There is no API for Spaces, applications are not even supposed to know that Spaces is or is not running.  There is nothing Adobe can do to make our apps work better with Spaces -- because we don't work directly with Spaces in any way.  All these Spaces bugs are Apple's to fix.
I wish we could do something to help users of Spaces, but we cannot.
Only Apple can fix the bugs in Spaces, because only Apple has any control over Spaces.

  • Support for OS X Spaces

Please could we have support for OS X Spaces in CS4?
Spaces works with all of my other apps (except Lightroom).

    >Cocoa is not magic pixie dust.  And you don't seem to know which apps are Cocoa and which are not.
I did not say that it was pixie dust. My mistake, Bridge is not Cocoa only Lightroom and Acrobat are (or at least are using Cocoa elements [I seriously doubt that Adobe implemented a cut buffer in Lightroom]). The point I was hinting at was that Adobe has scrambled both Cocoa and Carbon beyond recognition.
    >And how do you know what is more or less work?
    >What exactly is your claim based on?
The AdobeOwl and owlcanvas frameworks include more than 15MB of compiled code, which represents a staggering amount of source code—someone had to write all that—for the CS4 interface.
    >...please talk to Apple.  It's their code, and only Apple can fix the bugs in their code.
So Apple has to adapt its OS to the whims of application developers? What hubris!
    >Adobe has identified the bugs in Apple's code, submitted the bugs to Apple to be fixed, and is waiting for them to be fixed just like you are.
    >Really, we can't fix bugs in Apple's code.  What is so hard to understand about that?
Bridge has a highly customised interface with tabs, rearrangeable panels and whatnot...is Carbon (like Photoshop) but is fully Mac compatible.
I am asking that Adobe avoid using code that is not compatible, the same way any developer would.
"I am sorry sir, but you are going to have to talk to Microsoft if you want our website to work in Internet Explorer."
Next time you buy an OS, make sure that it bears the "Adobe Compatible" sticker.
I would be embarrassed to publish a piece of software capable of this:
Exhibit G: Note that the Photoshop window is active yet somehow the title bar managed to get behind two Safari windows, only Adobe apps are capable of this.

  • Does Adobe CreatePDF support Mac System 10 Leopard OS?

Does Adobe CreatePDF support Mac System 10 Leopard OS?

    Good day,
Adobe CreatePDF is a web-based service.  All you need is an internet connection, a modern browser and Flash Player installed.  You can see the full system requirements here: http://www.adobe.com/acom/systemreqs/
Note - The CreatePDF desktop printer, which is an optional install for CreatePDF is a Windows-only feature.
Please let us know if you have any questions.

  • United Airlines does not support MAC?

Please advise on this one, being that United only supports PC's?
Thank you for choosing United Airlines.
In the past we have been advised that our website is not compatible with Mac. Please contact United.com support at 1-800-589-5582 for additional information.

Mainly why would United say they do not support MAC? It is just a question.
It's a question nobody here would know, as we don't work them and can't speak for them. The site works fine, so there's no need in beating a dead horse. Log on, book your flights, and think nothing more.

  • TestStand 2010 SP1 support Mac Operating System?

    Hi,
The TestStand 2010 SP1 does not support Mac Operating System?
It only supports Windows Operating System
    Please confirm

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have been noticing alot of activity recently in the Test Engineering world for Non Windows Platforms for scripting which TestStand is good at. A lot of the industry is moving towards open source scripting languages such as Ruby and Python in which LabView applications and other programming languages can be called from. This means test applications can no longer can be platform dependent since Python, Ruby are not OS dependent. Those type of test applications can be run on Mac- OS, Linux and Windows, etc. with very minmal code modifications between them. For one example see:

  • ISP supporting MAC?

    Hello!
I'm new to MAC and to this Forum... I recently bought an iMax Intel Duo Core and am now shopping around trying to get a good Broadband provider, in London, UK, which will support MACs!
    Can anyone advise please?
So far, BT and Virgin would offer MAC support...
    Thanks a million!
IMac Intel Duo Core   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Hi Monica and welcome to the discussions!
It depends on what you mean by "support Macs." If you mean, "Which ISPs will work on Macs" the answer is all of them. If you mean which ones will give technical support and assist in troubleshooting, then that answer is a little fuzzier.
In theory, all ISPs are platform agnostic. They simply do not care what kind of computer running whatever OS is connected to them. Macs, PCs running Windows and Linux can all connect to the internet just fine. Most ISPs I have used in the States have limited knowledge of Macs and offer very little tech support.
If your ISP requires specific software to connect to them - and the ones I have seen typically do not - then they usually provide both Mac and PC versions. That software is usually just a quick setup wizard that quides you through what you could do yourself in the OS configuration and settings.

In iCloud setup my apple I'd is not accepting. Getting error message it should be  an email I'd, but my my apple Id is just in user I'd form? Please support.

I've tried both. First, I tried on my pc, where iTunes had installed iCloud when it last updated. I have iTunes installed on this computer (and on my iPad and iPhone), but that wasn't the issue.
So I went online, thinking I needed a separate iCloud Apple ID, but it prompted me for my current Apple ID and gave me the message about my ID being "valid" but not an iCloud account," which, lol, was what it had asked me to do in order to create one. I checked, and at least one other user is having the same issue. I'll attempt to copy/paste the Support request url: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4430653?tstart=0
Thank you for any help you can give.

    EMERGENCY!!!!!!!!
IS THERE ANY WAY TO RETREIVE AN ACCIDENTALLY DELETED BACK UP FROM MY TIME MACHINE DRIVE????
In other words, I emptied out a folder on my main MAC to make space and the next subsequent backup backed up the EMPTY FOLDER and then deleted the "old backup" that actually contained the contents of the very important folder.
Now only the emptied folder exists on my MAC and in the two backups on my Time machine backup drive.
This was clearly a big mistake on my part not realizing that the "old backup" being deleted by Time Machine would include backed up files that I had no intention of getting rid of....
    What can I do now?
Is DATA RETREIVAL even an option?
I am sure that the Folder of files that I need are on the most recently deleted "OLD BACKUP" but how do I get to this, if even possible?????
    Super desperate situation here...

It may be possible to recover some of the data, if it hasn't been overwritten, but it won't be cheap or easy.
You've posted in the Time Capsule forum, but you mention a "backup drive."  If your backups are on a Time Capsule's internal HD, instead of an external HD, it's even worse.
    See Data Recovery.
    Good luck.

  • How can I partition my external hard drive supporting mac OS in one partition and windows OS in another?

Hello everyone, how can I partition my external hard drive supporting mac OS in one partition and windows OS in another?

    OK. Start with:
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to two (2). Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Click on the Erase tab in DU's main window. Select one of the two partitions, preferably the first one, change the Format type: to MSDOS then click on the Erase button.

  • ITunes downloaded, but does not open-Windows does not support Mac script

I have recently bought a Toshiba laptop with pre-installed Windows Vista. I have managed to download iTunes, but I cannot open it. The computer posts a message saying that it does not support Mac script. I suppose that I need additional software (daemon tools?)? I would be grateful if someone could advise me in relation to this issue.
    Toshiba Satellite   Windows Vista

No, you should need nothing additional. I suspect you may have tried to download the Mac compatible version of iTunes & that's why your getting this message. Make sure you have checked the Windows version & nothe Mac version on the download page.
