Google videos are your friend.  Google Videos is/are better than youtube because they include all of youtube plus everything else.
You would be amazed how many user-created demos/tutorials/tips videos are out there.  Even more amazing is how specific these videos are.  Specific to your model number of camera, of flash, of lens.  Specific to your particular tiny issue about Lightroom or Photoshop or whatever.
As for good learning/informational DSLR websites, here is a list of my personal favorites:
http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/
http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/
http://www.canonrumors.com/
http://www.lensrentals.com/rent/canon/lenses/telephoto/sigma-50-500mm-f4.5-6.3-hsm-os-for-canon
The Digital Picture has great reviews, plus a unique lens comparison tool (ACTUAL IMAGES!) in their "TOOLS" tab.
Lens Rentals contains Roger C's very well-informed, well-respected, and VERY witty commentary on lenses.
Cambrige in Colour gives a nice, refreshing and very civilized British sensibility to things, and is welcoming to beginners, and has good short writings on basic digital photography concepts.
Canon Rumors tells you (sometimes) when new equipment is coming out, and has a lively forum that is less flame-y than Nikon Rumors.

  • The sc command, (service control manager), takes 3 minutes and 30 seconds to create a service on Windows 8.1. and 2012R2

Unique circumstance: SC create This takes 3 minutes and 30 seconds on one domain when
using Windows 8.1 & 2012R2.  We have two domains:  D1.com
and D2.D1.com.  If we place a Windows 8.1 or 2012R2 VM on the D2.D1.com
domain and run the sc command to create a service using a D2.D1.com domain
account it will take 3 minutes and 30 seconds to create the service.  It
will create the service successfully, but will take 3 minutes and 30
seconds.  If we use the sc command to create a service using the obj=
parameter and use an account which is a member of the D1.com domain as the
parameter, the service is created immediately. Note: using a windows 8 VM
on D2.D1.com domain it does not exhibit the same behavior.  Also note that
placing a Windows 8.1 VM on the D1.com domain does not exhibit the same
behavior as well.  Consequently, this leads us to believe that the sc
command is timing out on the validation of the domain account and then using a
different validation method which is successful.<o:p></o:p>
    Commands
    used:<o:p></o:p>
sc create test binpath= C:\windows\test.exe   (logged in as D2.D1.com
    user)    <o:p></o:p>
    sc create test binpath= C:\windows\test.exe obj= D1\username password= something<o:p></o:p>

    Hi,
Based on my understanding, when you run sc command to create service, it takes long time, but when use sc command to delete the service, it runs fast. right? If so, the issue should be related with the command you used.
I also would like to suggest you refer to the below link to use sc to create service, we may also post in the MSDN forum:

How can I open and fill out a Secured Adobe PDF job application?

  • Is there an app I can use to download a blank form and fill out daily on my ipad

Is there an app available that I can download a blank form into and fill out daily on my iPad?

OK. Then you do need a word processing app. The WP apps in the App Store run the full gamut and you need to decide which on would work best for your needs.
If you want to simply try a WP app to get the feel of how they work, there is an app called FioWriter Lite which is free. It will have limited functionality, but at least it will give you an idea of what these apps are like to work with.
If that works for you, there is a paid version as well. FioWriter is probably one of the most basic and least expensive WP apps that I have seen. I have Pages and Smart Office and my preferred app is Pages because I have that on my Mac as well.

  • Can live cycle create a PDF form that is saved on a desktop and filled out simply to be attached to

I'm new to using LiveCycle to create PDF forms. I have a simple "Request for Quote" form that simply needs to be filled out in Acrobate Reader and then attached to a new Email message that goes to our quoting people.
right now when the form is opened by the users in READER it shows the message PLEASE FILL OUT THE FOLLOWING FORM. YOU CANNOT SAVE DATA TYPED INTO THE FORM. PLEASE PRINT YOUR COMPLETED FORM IF YOU WOULD LIKE A COPY FOR YOUR RECORDS.
Years ago i remember having a simple form that you could just send out have a user fill in the boxes and then just email it back filled in. I love the layout options that LiveCycle gives but i'm having a hard time with a simple "fill this out and email it back" option.
I've been hunting around in LiveCycle for an option that would allow this but i must keep missing it.
    any help or ideas??

You are doing exactly what I am as well, and creating a savable form. Although it is a slight process, it is very do-able.
    1. First create your form in LiveCycle. Once finshed, save it and close down LiveCycle. (e.g. you should have "Document1.pdf")
    2. Open your new PDF with Acrobat Professional. Make sure you see the fields, and then add Usage Rights to the document (Advanced - Enable Usage Rights In Acrobat Reader).
    3. It will ask you to save it, so save it as something else. (e.g. now you save it as "Document1A.pdf")
    4. Then the KEY is to chose File - Save As and save it one last time as another name. (e.g. "Document1Final.pdf")
    5. Close Acrobat Professional and open your final file ("Document1Final.pdf") with Acrobat Reader. You should be able to fill out and save the PDF, so it can be emailed back as a filled-in document. At this point you can make a copy of it and name it whatever you would like the customers to see ("BobsRequestForQuote.pdf")
Remember not to save over your final document (or you will have to recreate it), but keep it in a safe place for sending out to customers. Sure beats handwritten forms sometimes!

  • Create and Fill Out Forms on iPad?

I have recently started a small business, but people must fill out a short form to recieve the item. I sometimes am away from the business when the form is needed to be filled out. I would like to save on ink and paper. So are there any apps for the iPad in which I can create a form and have people be able to fill it out and sign it right there on the iPad? I have downloaded many apps and signed up for many things, but either I can't work them orthe form must be e-mailed to the person. I need an app where I can have people fill it out and sign it right on the spot.

    Hi There
We have a solution called iForm Pro (www.iformpro.co.uk) that would allow you to automate your forms and capture signatures, take photos and write on them and even calculate invoice values etc.
    Hope this helps

  • Not great images with new 6D. Please take a look and give me your thoughts

I'm going on a 2 week trip to Japan in 3 days so I'm hoping to figure this out before I leave.
I got my new 6d with 24-105 L lens kit, and also the 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM. It doesn't seem like any of the photos are that sharp without a very high contrast shot in full sunlight. Indoor shots or those with lower contrast (tree bark, leaves, something in the shade, etc.) seem pretty unsharp to me. I'm not sure if the AF just can't get a precise focus, or if the sensor just can't get good detail unless those conditions are met.
This is my first DSLR, although I've had film SLRs for 30+ years before that, and digital point and shoots for the last decade or so. I'm not sure if my expectations were too high or if there's something wrong with the camera, lenses, AF, or IS systems, or if I'm doing something wrong.
Some photos are below. I shot them all above the 1/focal length rule and some 2x or 3x or more above that, so in theory that would eliminate the camera shake issue, and also in theory the IS system should give you 2-3 stops so it doesn't seem to me that camera shake should be the issue. (I've also taken tripod shots and had the same issue so I don't think it's camera shake.)
All are large fine jpegs (20mb) straight from the camera, blown up to 100%.

Other than the truck badge and maybe the wall photos (high contrast, full sunlight), most of them don't seem that sharp to me. What do you guys think? Most people are raving about how good the low light performance is on the 6d but I'm just not seeing it, not even in moderate light.
Here's a link to where someone compares a few different cameras one of them being the 6d. My images are not as sharp as them as far as I can tell.

  • Acrobat Pro 7, Adobe Reader 8, and Filled out forms

My head is spinning with all the "Acrobat features" that seem to be in Acrobat, but actually aren't. At least not in the version I always seem to have. I wish Adobe would be more diligent in explaining what features are are in which version and what features are in the Windows version that aren't in the Mac version.
I'll do a search for a particular question. Get an answer of Yes, Acrobat can do that. Only to find out (through trial and error and usually not the article I'm reading) that I can't do what I what I want in the version I have.
To my question: We are using Acrobat 7 (CS2) to make forms for people to fill out and return to us. The people filling out the forms will mostly be in Adobe Reader 8.
How can we get those folks to send us the filled out form? I have yet to get that to work. I have Reader 8 on my machine and when I use the Submit Button method, Reader tells me SendMail can't recognize my mail client, but then gives me no way of fixing that? Where are SendMail preferences? SendMail isn't even in the Help menu!
    Any insight would be appreciated...

There is a New feature in Acrobat 8, that allows usage rights (you have to choose in tools menu, to allow it.
For small companies and Non-Profits, Adobe threw us a Bone. As long as as you receive no more than 500 respondents you can do this without breaking the EULA. (License agreement).
What you do is create your form make sure you have perfected and needs no changes. then turn on this item in Tools menu to allow Fill out and email. Then post to a website or send individually to no more than 500 people by email. They can fill out the form save the changes then send back.
However when you do this any person using Acrobat Pro 7 or Acrobat 8, or Reader 7 or 8 can do this. doesn't work bellow version 7. But Acrobat 8 is the only one (so far Than can create these.
If you make a mistake in the form and find it after turning usage rights on you have to save a copy with rights turn of and make your changes then go through procedure again.

  • How do I create an application that can be printed AND filled out online via my website?

Is InDesign the best program to do this in?

Webform with HTML would be best.
But depends on a lot of things...
InDesign is not a web authoring program.
But it can produce fillable forms ... which are PDF.
So if you want it on your site - a webform is best.
If you want it as link they fill out and submit then InDesign.

  • Interest in filling out an online survey

    Hello,
Sorry for polling a high traffic area.
I'm attempting to assertain the interest in taking a survey from industry professionals at this forum with the intent to document the responses as part of my final project of my BS in CS.
I haven't written the survey yet, I hope to have it written soon.
I don't have any interest in knowing personal information, it would (hopefully) be about 5 minutes of your time, email it to me, and done. If there is an uncomfort level with email, but still some interest, something else could be worked out, I'm sure.
I personally don't care for survey's, but in this case I would like some feedback from some of the folks here I respect, and which I know, will give me a good indicator of how legitimate my assertions are in my project, and ultimately give my project graders an indication as well.
Unfortunately, my project is not Java specific though it does deal with Java on a small level, I hope this isn't an issue. If it becomes an issue, I will gladly retract my request.
    Thanks for your time.

Unless I *really* needed the information badly, no, I
    definitely wouldn't
fill out the form. For me - and I think for most people -
    it's not a matter
of the few seconds it would take to fill out the form, but a
    strong dislike
for having my personal information recorded. (And anyone who

  • Administrator please remove non CS review topics from this forum

Feature requests, technical solutions etc would be much more clear if all of the unrelated topics were moved to their appropriate forums.
As long as people see posts about photoshop, indesign, etc. in this forum, they will continue to be confused and post non CS review topics here.

    Hi,
I think I found out what's going on here. Someone with Admin privileges  (but without my permission) reset the Premiere Pro Overview page, blowing away all the info in the pods. Then someone else with access - or maybe the same person - (again without asking my permission) went ahead and tried to "fix" it by copy/pasting data from the Hardware page. Hence, all these issues.
I will find out who has the permissions with access to changing the Overview page, and will ask them not to do that. It is unacceptable that no one PM'd me telling me what they did.
I am on vacation this week so please be patient as I try to restore the former page to its former glory when I get back. Great….
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Can I get some help with CF8 and Unix from this forum?

I did my dev in my local machine running windowsXP and CF8
In prod. environment, my CF8 runs in Unix and I'm not familiar with Unix at all.
My manager is out for awhile and I want to do this if I could without waiting for him because in windows it is very simple.
Here is what I did in windows and I think I should do the same in unix but unfortunately I don't know how:
In Windows environment I have done the following successfully and easy:
    1. installed/moved a .exe file in 2 folders: 1. in cfx folder under Coldfusion8 folder and
                                                                2. and again in CFClasses folder under WEB-INF folder
    2. Then in CF8 administrator I went to SERVER SETTINGS >> Java and JVM >> under ColdFusion Class Path, I put: c:\Coldfusion8\cfx\cfx_myexe.jar >> submit
    3. Under CFX Tags >> clicked REGISTER Java CFX >> I put: cfx_myexe in Tag Name and the same in Class Name  >>submit
Then when I go to my application, everything work as a charm!
How can I do these things in Unix?
When I logged into CF server in unix using my FTP FileZilla, I immediately see /space/users/www , so I'm in the root directory. I can't see anything above this directory
In windows, CFX is found under ColdFusion8 folder AND cfclasses is found under WEB-INF folder like this:
    C:/ColdFusion8/www/WEB-INF/cfclasses
All my CF files for the application are on C:/Inetpub/www/myfolder/
    So my questions are:
    1. How can I access point 1 using my FTP to move my exe file to the right folders
    2. Since I don't have CF administrator interface with Unix, how can I do point 2 and 3 above????
I have searched on this forum if someone had this problem in the past and also googled it but I got no result.

    1)  If the account you use to FTP to the site does not give you permissions to the ColdFusion instlation directories, you will need to ask permission from whomever in your organization provides those permissions.
    2) You would run the same ColdFusion administrator tool.  It is usually located at yourwebsite-domain/cfide/administrator/
If it is not located at this location, you need to ask whomever controls your ColdFusion server where it is located and how you should access it.
In otherwords, these are not general problems that we can help you with much.  These are specific problems dealing with your organizaiton and how it has configured its systems and network.
