Please take a survey about Help and Community Help.

Now that youve all had a chance to use the new Community Help system, please take a few moments and let us know what you think.
The best way is to fill out the survey that is behind the
"Give us feedback" link here.
In case you havent been exercising the new
Community Help system, please give it a spin.
If youd rather just send me a message instead of filling out a survey, go ahead and send me email at kopriva [at] adobe {dot} com.
Im especially interested to know how easy it is for you to find the information that youre looking for and how you feel about F1 taking you to the Community Help and Support page instead of the home page of the After Effects Help document.

The question that most individuals ask is how can a person be sure that it is the good time to perform an alcohol or drug intervention. Some signs can be seen and once one is aware of them, its easier to decide a great time for an intervention. For example, a dependent person that drinks alcohol or does drug on a regular basis might begin changing his or her habits, spend ridiculous quantities of money to continue their dependency, less communication with the people that surround him or her, loss of weight, etc

  • SVS, EVS, and OVS, Value Help and Search Help

what and how to use SVS, EVS, and OVS, Value Help and Search Help  in abap webdynpro...Can anyone please give example link or document...As i am able to get on ovs but unable to get rest of other

SVS and EVS are Web Dynpro Java specific types of value help.  They do not exist in Web Dynpro ABAP.  In Web Dynpro ABAP we have Data Dictionary based Search Help, OVS, and Freely Programmed Value Help.  In WDA 7.02 we have the slight variant on DDic Search Help called Suggest Values.  It doesn't change the development model, just the runtime user experience.
You can read more about each of the types of WDA based value help in the online help:

  • A question about search help and input help,PLZ take a look at it.

    hi everyone,
i want to know the difference between search hlep and inpu help
can anyone tell me about that?
    thanks

    HI
    BOTH ARE SAME
you can define F4 help in 2 ways
in SE11 or in the report program
    IN SE11
Attaching a search help to a table field
Choose the field name, click on search help tab and
provide the name of the search help.
A search help is attached to a field of a table or structure in the maintenance transaction for this table/structure, analogously to attaching to a table. You must assign the interface parameters of the search help to any fields of the table/structure. The search field must be assigned to an EXPORT parameter of the search help at this time.
Attach the search help to the table field
The search help ZSTRAVELAG_NAME is therefore directly attached to the field AGENCYNUM of table ZSTRAVELAG.
Attaching a search help to a data element
Provide the search help name and the parameter name
under the further characteristics tab of the data element.
If the input help of a field is defined by its data element, no further screen fields can be used in the input help.
Also note that the input F4 help would be available wherever the data element is used.
Attaching a search help to a screen element
A search help can be directly assigned to a screen field in two ways.
The name of the search help must be entered in the Screen Painter in the Attributes for the field in the field Search help.
The name of the search help can be defined for selection screens in ABAP reports in the PARAMETERS or SELECT-OPTIONS statement directly following the supplement MATCHCODE OBJECT.
However, input help is only available for this particular screen.
    in REPORT PROGRAM
in this way we declare in report program
    TYPES : BEGIN OF ST_OBJID_SH,
    OTYPE TYPE HRP1000-OTYPE,
    OBJID TYPE HRP1000-OBJID,

    enter search help
    and create elementary
enter description and below Table name
    and the fields
    see the doc
    1) Elementary search helps describe a search path. The elementary search help must define where the data of the hit list should be read from (selection method), how the exchange of values between the screen template and selection method is implemented (interface of the search help) and how the online input help should be defined (online behavior of the search help).
    2) Collective search helps combine several elementary search helps. A collective search help thus can offer several alternative search paths.
3)An elementary search help defines the standard flow of an input help.
    4) A collective search help combines several elementary search helps. The user can thus choose one of several alternative search paths with a collective search help.
5)A collective search help comprises several elementary search helps. It combines all the search paths that are meaningful for a field.
6)Both elementary search helps and other search helps can be included in a collective search help. If other collective search helps are contained in a collective search help, they are expanded to the level of the elementary search helps when the input help is called.

  • Please take (another) survey or two. Pretty please?

Please take one or both of the following surveys about tasks that a video editor might do in After Effects. Pretty please? Your doing so will help us to learn what people are having trouble with and how we can make it better.
    survey 1
    survey 2
You may be experiencing déjà vu right now. Yes, I asked folks to take a survey or two a couple of months ago, too.  Now I'm asking again so that I can see if anything has changed. We've been at work all summer to make improvements, and we'd like to know what's working and what isn't.

I've passed Harm's case number on to our highest-level technical support staff, and they're working on it now. On a Friday night. I'm typing this when my wife is waiting for me at a party.
We do care, and we do try to help.
Yes, there are some problems with our support system right now, and we're trying to fix them. Yes, there are problems with our software, and we're trying to fix them.
I'm not as familiar with how things work for Premiere Pro, since I am primarily an After Effects guy. So take what I say as applying to After Effects only, since that's all that I can be 100% certain about.
We read every bug report and feature request and crash report. And we often answer directly (though we can't promise this for every submission).
The After Effects team has some additional channels of communication, too, including my blog and Michael Coleman (the product manager)'s blog, where we talk about bugs and updates and anything else that we think might help. Michael even posted a phone number and time slot for anyone to just call in and talk with the After Effects team.
Finally, many of us do participate on these forums. If you look at the After Effects forum, you'll see that two of the top three contributors are Adobe employees. We can't be there all the time, and we can't answer every question, but we do try to keep an eye out.
So, please don't conclude that Adobe is one big uncaring monolith. We are trying to help you. We aren't perfect at it, and some areas need more improvement than others, but I hope that you see that we're trying.
What does this mean for you? Please read this post and give us feedback through these channels.

  • I have Java enabled in options -content but Microsoft help and community sites do not recognize this

when I try to search Microsoft Help and click on a link, I get redirected to a page which tells me that my browser cannot accept stuff and I need to turn on Java. But under firefox - tools - options - content the box for Enable Java has a tick in it

That isn't for '''''Java''''', that preference is for '''JavaScript'''.
Type '''about:plugins''' in the address bar and hit Enter. <br />
Does '''Java''' appear in that window?
You can also look in Tools > Addons > Plugins and see if Java is listed there AND see if it is enabled.

  • Would someone at Apple please take serious steps to locate and block the bots that are attempting to take over Apple IDs?

I regularly get e-mails (which appear to be legit upon intense scrutiny) from Apple regarding the request for a reset of my Apple ID. Given how often and the timing of these e-mails (spead out and not bunched up like it would be for someone who actually mistook my ID for their own), it is clear that someone is making a serious effort to break into my account (and logically millions of other accounts). Would someone at Apple please take just as serious steps to locate these scumbags and put them down?
    Thank you.

    Thank you.
I've submitted the feedback where you've suggested. I hope someone will takw the problem seriously because there may come a day when the e-mails will end and my bank account will just get emptied by some cracker* who has found a flaw in the system and exploited it.
*This is the correct term, "hacker" is a style of programmer, while a "cracker" cracks computer-based security. Blame the Media and Hollywood for getting the terms wrong.

  • Files needed to be present to use HTML help and Web help

For using RoboHelp for word generated .hlp files, we kept
.hlp and .cnt files in the production environment for the users.
Now, we are planning to migrate to Robohelp for HTML help and
    gradually to WebHelp.
In that case what are the files that are required to be
    present in the production environment?

With HTML Help all you need to ship are the CHM files. That
is because these are compiled files that contain all the essential
ingredients to see and use the help. The only exception to this
rule is if you are using a glossary or browse sequences. In this
instance you'll need to ensure all your users have the
HHACTIVEX.DLL file installed on their PC. If they don't they won't
be able to see them. You cab get the install routine for your
application to install and register this file.
With regards to Webhelp, you'll need to publise all the files
generated by the compile. Part of the compile process is setting up
the location of the published files (e.g. Intranet, FTP). You don't
have to worry about what to publish. As long as you have your
location correctly defined all the files are copied there.

  • Illustrator Help and InDesign Help won't open

    Hi,
I am having issues with the Help option within all of the CS5 programs such as Illustrator and InDesign.  In past versions I could open up the help and it would bring up the electronic manual right inside the program.  Now it just launches an application and I get an error message saying "Adobe AIR...The installation of this application is damaged.  Try reinstalling or contacting the publisher for assistance."  Same thing in IDD.  What does AIR have to do with Illustrator Help?
    Thanks

It's the little intermediary app that manages the help. Since as of CS5 help can also be stored locally (again), this tool would allow you to download pages for offline viewing. There's a standalone icon for this in your CS5 program group. try to launch it standalone. If that doesn't help, reinstall Adobe AIR and download the patch for this help client from the support pages. There was an issue at some point, but it should have long been fixed with an automatic update., Apparently that hasn't happened on your system...

  • Please doublecheck my understanding about AVCHD and Macs

Ours is substantially a Mac household because we appreciate the simplicity of OS-X and Macs in general. I am in the market for an AVCHD based HD camcorder and a new computer to handle its video. After a few weeks of reading here, I am leaning towards a PC, but before I do that, I would like to lay out my reasoning on the chance that I misunderstand some things that could tip the balance back towards a Mac.
First, with a powerful enough computer, under Windows, Sony Vegas (for well under one hundred dollars), will edit AVCHD directly. There may be other PC software that does this as well or better. Using such software, I can burn the AVCHD file to a standard DVD disk and play it on a blue ray player, or to an SDHC card and play it on a device that plays AVCHD from an SDHC card. I have been running the Windows 7 RC on our one last remaining PC, and it has been a pleasure to use. Maybe not all the way to OS-X, but close (in fact, compared to the one computer I upgraded to Snow Leopard and the problems I had with Front Row, in some respects the Win7 RC has been better than OS-X).
iMovie will import AVCHD, but in doing so it will convert it to AIC. That will cause the file size to grow by about 4X. And editing a 1080i video (or any interlaced video) will strip out half of the lines to down convert it to 540p. The alternatives are to either download and install some other software (free or low cost) to convert the AVCHD file from interlaced to progressive, or to limit my shooting to 24p....so I would be limited to only cameras that support that mode.
With all these changes to the file in iMovie, I would not be able to burn the file to a DVD or an SDHC card in AVCHD format to play on my blue-ray player or HDTV (both of which have AVCHD-capable SDHC slots for this purpose).
The other Mac software alternatives are either Final Cut Express, or Final Cut Pro. Final Cut Express has the same issues as iMovie. FCP will not down convert the file to 540p if I import to Apple ProRes. It has a list price of about one thousand dollars.
When I balance the issues, it is pretty clear to me that Win7 on a PC quad core desktop with a beefy video card is my best option for video. I still have my old Macs for doing day to day stuff. But I would love to find out that I have missed something and that I can edit and export AVCHD on a Mac without the hassle of bloated files and kludgy workarounds.
Thanks in advance for your consideration.

    Barry Speronello wrote:
Thank-you both for your responses. Winston, please let me ask for clarification of some of your points. If I understand you correctly, maybe I can stay with a Mac and just buy a much bigger hard drive to handle the big AIC files.
It's possible to save a great deal of space by importing your AVCHD files as AIC for imovie and copying them (drag and drop to an area on your drive for archives), once you have edited your video in imovie, you can delete the project and associated AIC files content in the knowledge you can always import to AIC again from your archive should you ever need to return to re-edit.
You wrote: "...well it's not actually all that bad since your 1080i is actually only 540 fields every frame". I am impressed by what I see as a significant difference between 480p (p, not i) and 1080i images on a large TV. That is why I was focusing on 1080 HD camcorders. Is there something special about the 540 line export that would make it materially better than 480p for display on a modern 46" plasma HDTV?
I suppose you could say there was something special about 540 lines of resolution, in that twice 540 is 1080. 1080i actually displays 540 odd and then 540 even lines 30 times a second, throwing away the odd lines and making the even lines progressive isn't quite the same thing but it gives a surprisingly good result, much better than proportionally better than 480.
Take a look at this movie (ignore the camera work/standing to near the bass player - it's our party and I'd had more than a few beers),
    http://gallery.me.com/gartside1104#101874
I used a Sony HDR SR8 AVCHD camera (1080i/25 fps @ 15 mbps) and a canon xm2 DV camera (576i/25fps) the later being quite a good camera. I made the mistake of shooting in 4:3 with the DV camera so had to crop the video to the equivalent of around 433 vertical lines which makes it a little worse than your 480i but you get the idea. Don't forget to view the video as large and set it to play at full screen.
The information that one can export nearly source-quality 1080i video after editing in iMovie as AIC is encouraging to me. There are 3 points to that for me.
You can't export 1080i from imovie, I didn't actually say that, what you can do is export 1080p, Although I think we are supposed to be able to export 1080i because there is a setting for it although it doesn't work. I'm assuming it's a bug that will get ironed out, the same 1080i export option in QT works just fine.
    1) The point that you make earlier in your note that upon conversion to AIC only "...technically speaking only a small amount of loss in quality..". And the inference that there will be no further loss in quality upon the back-conversion from AIC to AVCHD. That is a pretty subjective analysis and I'd appreciate others' opinion on the degree of quality-loss upon that double conversion (AVCHD to AIC to AVCHD). I am skeptical, but open to the possibility.
You can't export to AVCHD with imovie, I didn't actually say that, what you can do is export to AVC. (AVCHD is h264 in an mpeg2 stream, AVC is h264 in an mpeg4 stream, they may contain the same codec but have different containers). And yes I agree, every conversion will result in some quality loss, noticeable or not. I don't use a pc for editing and have never used sony vegas, but I would imagine that native editing merely means the particular chunk of video you are applying an edit to is decompressed rendered and re-compressed and would result in a similar loss of quality.
    2) I wasn't aware that Quicktime would export 1920x1080 AVCHD video from a file that had been converted to AIC from 1080i AVCHD. What version would I need, and is it still available. I have Snow Leopard that I will eventually be re-installing on my machines (once the issues with Front Row and some other things are corrected). Will QT-X in Snow Leopard do this? I do not own QT-Pro. Can I still purchase it if I need it to do the export?
Again Quicktime doesn't export to AVCHD, but it does have 1440 x 1080 and 1920 x 1080 AVC export settings. What I was trying to say was that while I don't have one, I was assuming that many blu-ray players and tv's with card slots would support the playback of AVC as well as AVCHD, although I can't in anyway be sure.
    3) I presume that the re-exported files go back to being much smaller than the AIC version...ie, that they are about 1/4th the size of the AIC file from which they were created? Please confirm that. I need the compactness of AVCHD to fit a reasonable amount of video onto standard DVDs and reasonably sized SDHC cards.
The AVCHD files that I started the aforementioned movie with were 15 mbps, AIC decompresses these to between 80 and 100 mbps, the movie I created at 960 x 540 is about 3.6 mbps
Regarding burning of the exported AVCHD file to DVD or SDHC card, couldn't I use Toast, as suggested by Steve Mullin above, to do that?
Sorry I don't know anything about toast, I'm assuming you stick the AVC file on the DVD or data card as data and not as a DVD or other format.
Finally, I am not familiar with AVC and don't know if my devices will handle it (the user guides only mention AVCHD). If it is just a lower-res version of AVCHD, then I suspect that they might handle it, but I don't think that it would do what I want it to do. Is it lower res AVCHD, or is it a different way to output 1080 resolution video?
    Hopefully I've answered that.
QT Pro is a key that unlocks a number of features in QT 7, QT 7 is still available and so is the pro key, although as I say it does not export to AVCHD. If the AVC format is a problem for you getting it to your tv, then the mac may be an issue for you as I'm not aware of any software that will create AVCHD on the mac.

  • When i try to send  a message in mail it says it cannot use the server. I know very little about macs and need help

i need help with the email on my mac. it says i cannot use the sever. any help would be awesome thank you

If you are trying to connect to your ISP e-mail account. The ISP will help you setup and connect to your e-mail account. So, you might want to give them a call.
Usually, when you are told that you can't use the server it means that there might be an error (either a wrong name/ address / password/ connection type/ etc.) so check your settings again...
Else you could try the following:

  • Hey eric i have commented ont he multiply matrix question....please have a look into it and kindly help!

didn't know if it wud come through to uSo i thought i wud post it too...sorry if its a mess!!

CMS's like  WordPress, Joomla! & Drupal are popular open source (PHP & MySql) frameworks.  They contain all the backend PHP code needed to create a dynamic web site that contains capability for advanced functions:  site search, on-line editing, shopping carts, member log-in sites, blogs with comments, scripted contact forms, and so much more...
The allure of Open Source frameworks is that they save developers time and money.  Instead of building everything from scratch (which can take months), an experienced developer can usually install WordPress on the client's server and be up & running in a few hours without customizations, or in a couple of weeks with customizations.   A firm understanding of PHP, how to set up a server-side database, backing up MySql, CSS theming, and HTML code are required skills to work with these frameworks.  WordPress is probably the easiest to set-up; Drupal is for more experienced coders.
I am still not sure how I will know when I am competent enough to work in Web Design... What are the best signs that an individual is good enough?
You're ready when you can look at code and understand what it means/does. Being able to problem solve, identify mistakes and fix them on your own is a must have skill.

    Welcome To Apple Discussions!
Make sure on your iTunes settings that you have your iPod on "Update Videos Automatically"(or something like that). IF it still doesnt work then I suggest that you simply reset the iPod or restore it.
    Reseting iPod:
    1. Press and hold the menu button + the center button
    2. Wait untill the Apple logo appears.
    Restoring the iPod:
