You may be experiencing déjà vu right now. Yes, I asked folks to take a survey or two a couple of months ago, too.  Now I'm asking again so that I can see if anything has changed. We've been at work all summer to make improvements, and we'd like to know what's working and what isn't.

I'm not as familiar with how things work for Premiere Pro, since I am primarily an After Effects guy. So take what I say as applying to After Effects only, since that's all that I can be 100% certain about.
We read every bug report and feature request and crash report. And we often answer directly (though we can't promise this for every submission).
The After Effects team has some additional channels of communication, too, including my blog and Michael Coleman (the product manager)'s blog, where we talk about bugs and updates and anything else that we think might help. Michael even posted a phone number and time slot for anyone to just call in and talk with the After Effects team.
Finally, many of us do participate on these forums. If you look at the After Effects forum, you'll see that two of the top three contributors are Adobe employees. We can't be there all the time, and we can't answer every question, but we do try to keep an eye out.
So, please don't conclude that Adobe is one big uncaring monolith. We are trying to help you. We aren't perfect at it, and some areas need more improvement than others, but I hope that you see that we're trying.

  • EOS 60D. When I press the shutter release it may take a second or two before it activates

    I have an EOS 60D.  When I press the shutter release it may take a second or two before it activates or it may activate instantly.  In the past it has activated instantly every time.  In all cases the camera has previously been focused.  This is a new development after having the camera for a couple of years.  What’s going on ?  

    Another possibility is focus.
    When the camera is in it's default "One Shot" mode it uses something called "focus priority".  When focus priority is active it means the camera will NOT take a photo until it can confirm that it has locked focus on at least one AF point.
    You could test this by just switching the lens to manual focus mode (set the AF/MF switch to the MF position).  That should cause the camera to take the shot instantly -- every time -- provided you haven't enabled a delay timer.
    You can change modes by ensuring the lens is attached and in the "AF" position (autofocus is enabled).  Then press the AF button on the top of the camera and use the menu to select "One Shot", "AI Focus", or "AI Servo".  
    The two real modes are "One Shot" and "AI Servo".  
    "One Shot" causes the camera to focus until it locks focus... and then the focus system switches off while it waits for you to fully press the shutter and take the shot.  It's intended for situations where you are photographing non-moving subjects.  If you fully push the shutter immediately (without half-pressing to let the camera focus first) then you'll have a delay while the camera focuses.
    "AI Servo" is used for situations where the subject distance is constantly changing.  But this mode uses something called "Release Priority" which means the camera WILL take the photo as soon as you fully press the shutter button and will do this whether focus was locked or not.  The camera begins focusing when you half-press the shutter... and it never stops checking focus. 
    The camera will take longer to focus depending on which lens you use, the amount of available light on the subject, and how much contrasty detail the subject has (the camera will struggle to lock focus on subjects which lack contrast -- such as pointing it up to a plain blue sky -- even if it's bright.)  
    Camera lenses keep their aperture blades fully retracted while you frame and focus the shot.  The blades only stop down in the fraction of a second before the shutter opens.  But if you have a variable focal ratio lens (e.g. an f/3.5-5.6 for example) and it's at the f/5.6 end, and lighting is poor, etc. then you make the camera work a bit harder to focus.

    Hello All,
    I have a 15" i7 Macbook Pro from early 2011. The past few weeks, it has been getting increasingly difficult to get on my computer. It takes the mac laptop two or three tries to boot successfully. It would turn on, show gray screen, shut down, turn on again, show gray screen, shutdown, and then turn on, show gray screen, before it can finally get to the dark gray log-in screen. Even when I finally get logged in to start working, thinking it would be okay now, it shuts down randomly.
    I've ruled out the possibility of a software problem because I've just done a clean re-install of Mac OS X Mavericks on my computer just yesterday.
    I did upgrade the RAM recently, about a month and a half ago, from 4GB to 16GB, I went to the apple store four days after that upgrade to have them do a hardware test, and clean the inside of my laptop, which helped with previous heat issues. When they did the hardware test, the hardware was all registered as fine from their system.
    I've tried resetting the SMC, PRAM, and doing the internet recovery hardware test, but to no avail. I thought I could at least find out what parts needed to be replaced from the hardware test but it seems that when the hardware test is almost finished, the computer just shuts down, So I am unable to see the results.
    My computer is also having battery issues, under battery condition, it says "replace now," parts have been ordered, waiting for arrival. But if the battery health is low, it should still boot up fine, it would just hold a significantly less charge.
    Could this be a hard drive issue?
    Has anyone had similar symptoms and how was it resolved?
    Does anyone know what I can do to alleviate this issue?
    I haven't had time to take it to Apple because I'm currently taking a 21 credit semester academically. I'm an art and design student so my computer is basically the bane of my existence. Help! Any constructive advice is welcomed!

    Only the carrier to whom the device is locked can unlock it.
    If you do not meet their requirements or they do not offer unlocking there is no official way to unlock the device.

    They only thing I can assume is that my external hard drive was slow to start and iTunes defaulted to its old directory (see the last paragraph at the link above). However, once my external was recognized shouldn't everything have fixed itself?

  • Force certain DNS requests to take another route

    We have two sites -- A and B -- connected via a persistent IPSEC VPN tunnel.
    Site A is trying to get to a website but it takes almost a minute to load. 
    Site B can get to the site just fine. The page loads instantly.
    Is there a way I can make requests in site A for this URL go through (across) the VPN tunnel.... for ONLY this URL?
    Not sure if I need to create a DNS zone in conjunction with some kind of IIS redirect and point this zone to the DC in site B, or if this would be a IP networking-related thing. Sorry if I posted this in the wrong area/forum.

    The default behavior of ACE is to take the rserver out of loadbalancing if it fails or is taken "out of service". Only existing connections are allowed to complete or connections matching the sticky entry. All new connections are loadbalanced.
    You can tell the ACE to either remove the connections or reassign it to another server if you configure a backup server in serverfarm.You can find details here:

  • Downgraded, created another instance, now two rogue windows open automatically in the new instance!!

    So I need to open another instance of Firefox so I can log onto other email accounts simultaneously with the first browser instance. I followed the directions and using profile creator, made another profile, and the sync worked (mostly).
    However, no matter what option I choose under:
    Options -> General -> Startup
    I get two ADDITIONAL tabs!!
    First one says
    "Download Firefox - Free Web Browser
    Second one says
    "PROFILE.COM"
    What gives???

    If you downgraded Firefox you are now on an unsupported version so please upgrade again and then we can try to help you.
    Ther are other alternative methods but the easiest method of logging in to more than one email acount is to open additional windows for the other accounts as ''Private Browsing'' windows e.g. use keyboard shortcut Sift+Ctrl+P

    Once a new Released out and security fixes are made and publicised bad guys take advantage of the exploits and that puts your '''System and Personal Data at an increased risk. Possibly using a Virtual Machine, maybe having a well rehearsed bare metal restore procedure.
    Perhaps if you say why you do not wish to upgrade we may be able to suggest a suitable way forward with an upgrade and some sort of workaround.
    Or are you talking as an administrator of a network of Computers, in which case a special Release of Firefox may be more appropriate.

    It may also be worth noting that Fx29 now respects the setting to not upgrade until you agree. Firefox 28 upgraded regardless of the setting if you used the ''about'' dialogue to check the version.

  • Mail 4.1 suddenly takes another SENT Messages folder

    Since a few days, another SENT Messages folder is used by Mail to store my sent e-mails. I'm using 2 Macs and one iPhone. Before, all 3 devices used the same SENT Messages folder. However, at the moment my 2 Macs use the SENT Messages ([email protected]) folder to store the sent e-mails, while my iPhone still uses the 'normal' SENT Messages folder. I have no clue why my Macs suddenly decided to use the SENT Messages ([email protected]) folder (so with an e-mailaddress behind it).
    If you have any idea why this happened, please let me know. Any help will be appreciated! If you need some more information, also let me know!

    One more thing to try. Quit Mail if it's open.
    Locate this file. com.apple.mail.plist
    Move that file to the Desktop. Launch Mail.
    If it functions as it should, go to Mail/Preferences. Make note of your Mail preferences, then delete that .plist file.

    As long as the exam or the certification has not expired you can still pass additional exams to complete the certification. An exam you passed remains passed.
    Keep in mind that the MCSE and MCSD exams require  recertification every 3 years

    That means that you might have to pass a newer version of the same exam again to keep certified.
    So based on the 3 year recertification policy you might not want to take 2 years+ to pass the exams.
