Please talk me out of this - 27"/i7/SSD+1TBHDD
Time to buy a new iMac! My iMac PowerPC is still functioning well, but it's too slow now - finally time to update.
New iMac will be used primarily for internet, email and iTunes... BUT, I'll be doing a lot of HD video editing utilizing Final Cut Express and photo editing with Aperture. I'll also be using HandBrake from time-to-time. I'll do zero gaming.
I love the real estate a large screen provides, so I'm definitely getting a 27" iMac.
Considering my video editing needs, I'm leaning towards the 2.93GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 because of it's performance and hyper-threading capabilities? Good idea - yes/no?
From what I've read on other forums, many people suggest sticking with the standard 4GB of RAM, and then upgrading from another source (crucial) at a less expensive price. Good idea - yes/no? And, how much total RAM would you recommend for video editing?
Now, the BIG QUESTION:
Do I spring for the SSD? Many consider this a dramatic performance enhancer, but I can't get over the cost. I'm considering getting a SSD for OS/Applications and a 1TB HDD for storing photos/music/videos/etc.. I already own a couple external HDs I could use, too.
The additional $750 for the SSD + 1TB HDD option is right at my breaking point, and I can't decide whether to go SSD, or stick with the standard HDD.
Any suggestions/recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I'm really looking forward to my new iMac, but want to make sure I order the appropriate machine for my needs (as it is a big investment).

The i7 2.93 GHz is going to be a beauty for the price. I think you’ll love it.
I’m not sure anyone wants to talk you out of this because we’re all real curious about the benefit of using the SSD in conjunction with the standard internal hard disk. If it was me, I’d wait for Macworld and others to update their benchmarks. Macworld’s are nice because they include real world applications like Aperture, Photoshop, Handbrake, etc.
I don’t know how much benefit you feel is worth the cost of the SSD. If the system with SSD cost 30% more and gave you a performance benefit of 20%, would you still buy it? I guess if you look at my profile, you can tell I went the route of maxing out the internal disk capacity and memory since a lot of work is done in memory and I can wait awhile for the disks to load programs and data from the internal disk. This talk about SSDs to speed startup times can be misleading. Okay, so I could boot in one-third the time, but I only boot once a week. You see what I mean?
i’d be more interested in how it improves major operations in Aperture, Photoshop, Final Cut...

A data recovery company MAY be able to do it for a price. The Disabled is a very good security feature.
JWhy not just restore from the last backup you have?
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

resetpassword wouldn't have done it. If you managed to create a new user, then your data is still in the old account. -
I have bought new macbook pro 13.3" i5 2.5 dual core. I was working fine but suddenly when i restarted my macbook after a shutdown its screen started blinking or scattering type. But before shutdown it was working very fine, dont know what happened to it. Please help me out.

Your iPhone needs to be model A1457 and your carrier needs to be either Beeline or MegaFon, which are the Apple supported carriers for Russia. Otherwise, you iPhone may not support the LTE bands used by other carriers.
There is no way to fix this problem. You need the correct iPhone model and a supported carrier or else the service may not be available. -

Managing Data Backupss?????? Please help me out in this :)

I have created a software for a school, and yes I am managing it quite well. I am not very well versed with the latest technologies and the latest design patterns. My software is functioning well but I am facing two problems in it, one of which I am going to discuss here.
I am taking the back up of my all the data and keeping it on a CD for a safer side.. but I am also not able to guess what I will do if the CD or the data gets corrupted. So can anyone please help me and instruct me and give me a brief idea as to how I can take backup of my databases...........like into the Floppy, in the CD or in the Email servers, anything....
Any help wud be reallly helpful....

You might want to do a search on backups or backup schedules. This is more of a "sysadmin" question.
My experience is limited however, the backups in previous job went something like this:
1. Full backups (monthly)
2. Incremental backups (daily and kept off site)
In both cases, DATs were rotated.

Hello all. I'm just done with a 3 month proyect, and I just lost it all.
I'm so worried about what I have done, please let me explain clearly so maybe someone can help me.
So I had finished my proyect in NB, and I decided to change the default name of some variables of a jFrame class. As you know, NB allows you to do it easily by right clicking on the component and selecting "change variable name".
Once I was done with that, I noticed that it did not automatically update all concurrences in the source code, so I had to manually change it, which of course I did not.
So basically, I deleted this jFrame class from my proyect because I thought I had the original source code anyway, so I could copy-paste it in a new jFrame class and all would be solved.
I was so fool ! I cannot create a new jFrame class in NB and copy-paste the source code of the original jFrame class (the one that had the default names for the variables) to the new jFrame class because it does not replace the initComponents() method which is in 'gray' and cannot be manually modified !! you know what I mean right ?
So the only possible solution that I see is to redone all GUI from scratch.

Anyway, this won't affect the "cut'n'paste-to-a-file & copy into project" solution. If it does you're setting your file up incorrectly within the project. You'll have to find a NetBeans expert to help you with that. -

The (18) vertical paths may be created by moving copies or from a tall thin rectangle using Object>Path>Offset Path, or just by moving a copy multiple time, then cut as desired.
The B may be created from a (partially overlapping) double set based on the innermost closed (upper) path using Object>Path>Offset Path, and moving a copy, then deleting unwanted parts.
The E and the text frames may be created from rectangles corresponding to the innermost of a series of closed paths, then using Object>Path>Offset Path, then deleting unwanted parts.
If the vertical lines are created as closed paths, copies of the outermost shapes of the B, E, and text boxes may be used to cut them using Object>Path>Divide Objects Below.
Throughout, you need to think ahead and build/remove paths. Especially important is to see how the desired shapes can be built from an original closed path (set) using offset path, such as the B, E, and text boxes, where you need to imagine the parts to be later deleted again. -
