Please walk me thru creating a playlist in iTunes for internet radio stations

Please walk me thru creating a playlist in itunes specifically for internet radio. The itunes help page is not detail enough.

Create a new playlist
Open iTunes
Click the + button in the lower left corner of the window.
Name your playlist
Add radio stations:
On the left side of the iTunes window, at the top is the "Library" group. Under "Library" should be an item called "Radio." Click that to open the radio listings. If you do not see "Radio" in iTunes, go to the menu bar at the top of your screen and open iTunes > Preferences. In the preferences window, under the General tab, make sure Show > Radio is checked and click OK.
Find a station in the Radio listing.
Drag that station from the listing on the right side of the window to the new playlist you created on the left side, and drop.
You now have a playlist with a streaming radio station in it.
To add stations not listed in the iTunes radio listings:
Locate the stream URL (if you need further help, post which radio station you want exactly)
Copy the URL to your clipboard (command+C)
open iTunes
In the menu bar at the top of your screen, click on Advnaced > Open Stream...
Paste the URL (command+V)
Click OK
Your new radio stream should now appear in a playlist called "Internet Songs." Open that playlist.
Drag the station from the Internet Songs playlist into your own playlist.

  • HT1689 is it possible to create music playlists on itunes for iphone? (like for Ipod). How to do this?

    Hi
I have been ignoring playing music on my iphone until now (ive been used to the good 'ol ipod, and was assuming I could do away with the ipod and just use my iphone).
But having synced my imac computer and the phone, I don't seem to be able to use playlists on the iphone's itunes app.  Is this right??  Or am I missing something ..?

The playlists should sync form your computer to your phone. When you go into music app to play the music, you should see playlist as a button on the bottom of the screen. If it is not showing try looking under the more button.

  • How can i create a playlist in iTunes and have the playlist show up on iPhone 5

I painstakingly spent a considerable amout of time creating a playlist in iTunes on Windows, and now when I sync my iPhone, and open the Music app, I do not see the playlist at all.  When I select 'On this device' in iTunes, I can see the playlist listed, but a large number of the songs are greyed out, and do not play in iTunes.  These are simply songs I selected from my iTunes library into an iTunes playlist, and I sync'ed my iPhone saying transfer only selected playlists, etc, and now the playlist does NOT show up on the iPhone.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

On my iphone 4s I have 2 songs in the purchased category that I want to manually move into an existing playlist.  I can not figure it out.
If the existing playlist is a regular (non-smart) playlist, then you can edit it directly on the iPhone. Just select the playlist and you should see an "Edit" button at the top, above the songs.  If you don't see that, then it must be a smart playlist since those can't be edited on the device. Once you tap the Edit button you would then navigate to the song you want to add and press the blue + sign to the right of the song, then press Done when you're finished.
One caveat though, if you auto-sync your iPhone, the changes you make will not be preserved -- the playlist will revert to how it was next time you sync to iTunes.  So if you want to edit a playlist on your iPhone and then transfer it to iTunes, you have to create a new (empty) playlist on your iPhone, add the playlist that you wanted to edit to the new playlist, then add or delete more songs to the new playlist.  When you auto-sync, the new playlist will transfer to your iTunes library.
But if you manually manage your iPhone, the playlist should remain in its edited state even if you connect to your library (but admittedly its been awhile since I tried manual mode).

I want to know how to create a backup file (because I'm pretty new with itunes, and it's hard to use it for me still), how to store my app data/media/videos, etc. And how I can retrieve them back when I'm done with the app I tried on my friend's computer.
If anyone can help, it'd be great! Thank you so much!

Sure-glad to help you. You will not lose any data by changing synching to MacBook Pro from imac. You have set up Time Machine, right? that's how you'd do your backup, so I was told, and how I do my backup on my mac.  You should be able to set a password for it. Save it.  Your stuff should be saved there. So if you want to make your MacBook Pro your primary computer,  I suppose,  back up your stuff with Time machine, turn off Time machine on the iMac, turn it on on the new MacBook Pro, select the hard drive in your Time Capsule, enter your password, and do a backup from there. It might work, and it might take a while, but it should go. As for clogging the hard drive, I can't say. Depends how much stuff you have, and the hard drive's capacity.  As for moving syncing from your iMac to your macbook pro, should be the same. Your phone uses iTunes to sync and so that data should be in the cloud. You can move your iTunes Library to your new Macbook pro
you should be able to sync your phone on your new MacBook Pro. Don't know if you can move the older backups yet-maybe try someone else, anyways,
This handy article from Apple explains how
How to move your iTunes library to a new computer - Apple Support''
don't forget to de-authorize your iMac if you don't want to play purchased stuff there
and re-authorize your new macBook Pro
time machine is an application, and should be found in the Applications folder. it is built in to OS X, so there is nothing else to buy. double click on it, get it going, choose the Hard drive in your Time capsule/Airport as your backup Time Machine  and go for it.  You should see a circle with an arrow on the top right hand of your screen (the Desktop), next to the bluetooth icon, and just after the wifi and eject key (looks sorta like a clock face). This will do automatic backups  of your stuff.

  • Synching Internet Radio Stations Playlist with ATV - Doesn't always work!

I'm having some challenges with ATV Take 2 and itunes 7.6.1 to synch a playlist that contains internet radio stations. I can get it to work when I first sync ATV to iTunes, but then within a few hours, the playlist does not remain synched, and when accessed through ATV, it gives a message to the effect that "there are no songs in this playlist". The only way to fix the problem is to re-synch ATV, which is a pain.
Has anybody successfully set up a playlist containing internet radio stations in iTunes and managed to keep it synched in ATV Take 2?

I am having the same problem. This is one of the features that I was really excited about

  • I want to set up my Airport Express Base Station again but do not remember how. Please walk me thru it.

I am trying to hook my Airport Express Base Station up to be a router again and have forgotten how to do this. Before I had it hooked through the modeum and would like to have it that way again but for some reason the process has completely left my memory. I know it has something to do with the little icon on the top of the computer but not what it has to do with it. Because it is not hooked up I am unable to get my printer to work unless I connect to another wireless that I have but do not want to use all of the time since I have to pay for it and do not have  many GB. I am also paying for another that I want to use all of the time (unless necessary to use the other) so It only cost me when I am away from home. Please walk me through the process of hooking the Apple router back up.

All apple routers are setup via Airport Utility.. there is no icon for it in the top menu area.. I think you are confusing the airport network setup (ie the internal wireless card in the Mac) with the airport express setup.. Apple insist on calling everything the same name which makes it more confusing.
Open the airport utility which you find under applications/utilties.
Router setting will depend on what version of the utility you are using.
In version 5 it is under Internet tab and in v6 utility under network. You need to set it to DHCP + NAT.
Download and read the manual for setting up the express if you have forgotten the details.. manuals are always good.. all the manuals are listed at the head of the section. But you are in Time Capsule instead of extreme/express specific area.
    https://discussions.apple.com/community/wireless/airport
    Manuals link http://support.apple.com/manuals/%23airport
If you want the express as router the modem should be bridged or it should be a pure modem for it to work without Double NAT issues. There is nothing wrong with bridging the Express.. that is not the same as using it in wireless bridge modes.. that is router bridge.
    What modem do you have?
I am at a loss to understand the rest.. why the printer is not part of your own network.. and how setting up the airport this way is important. You need to give us specific details if you need more help.
How exactly is the airport setup now?
How do you connect to the modem?
How is the printer connected? What kind of printer?

  • Hi I have recently had my computer reset and now can't find my original playlist on itunes for my ipod how can I find this or how can I put my music from my ipod onto itunes

Hi I have recently had my computer reset and now can't find my original playlist on itunes, how can I transfer it from my ipod into itunes, or how can I find the original one?

Expanding on what The Fiend said, the license to play music from a CD is tied to and stays with the CD. So if you sell or give away the CDs, the license to play the music goes with them, at which point you legally no longer have the right to the tracks. You need to keep the CDs if you want to keep the music.
As for transferring the tracks from your iPhone back to your computer so you don't have to re-import all your CDs, check out this post from Zevoneer for some iPod/iPhone media recovery options:

  • ITunes doesnt show radio stations in playlist

I've recently run upgrades on both iTunes (7.6.1) and Quicktime (7.4.1) and now I cannot see any radio stations in the Library. There is nothing at all in the radio window.
Has anyone else experienced this problem. Currently running Tiger 10.4.11.
I've upgraded to Tiger 10.4.11 at home without updating iTunes or Quicktime and there has been no problem.

I noticed the same thing on my radio playlist containing my favorite stations. Not sure if this happened with the latest iTunes update. Have not found a solution other than recreating the list. I am using iTunes 10.6.3 and Snow Leopard on a Mac Mini

  • Is it no longer possible to create shuffled playlists in iTunes 11?

I've just upgraded to iTunes 11, and I find that it appears I can no longer create a shuffled playlist. (Or have I missed something?)
In the previous versions of iTunes, as long as I had songs in a playlist sorted by number, I could click on the shuffle button against a playlist in the sidebar and all the songs in the list would be shuffled up randomly. I could then sync to my iPod and the songs in the playlist would play in the order they appeared -as shuffled- in the song view list in iTunes.
But that no longer seems to happen. There are some shuffle icons scattered about the new version, (at the top of the list view by the title and in the play panel at the top), but clicking them doesn't seem to re-order the list of songs at all; they remain in order in the list.
    I'm confused...

So fundamental to my use of iTunes and my iPod is the ability to transfer shuffled playlists over to my iPod, I have now managed to revert back to version 10.7.
It is by no means a straightforward thing to do, because Apple have made it difficult by apparently 'integrating iTunes within recent versions of OS X'. This in itself worries me, because it reeks of Microsoft policy...
Anyway, here's a guide to how to do it how I did. (Many thanks to other posters in other threads for the method; what I've tried to do here is provide a complete 'idiot's guide', which was what I really needed...)
First off, you will need a .dmg file of iTunes 10.7, which should still be available here:-
    http://appldnld.apple.com/iTunes10/041-7195.20120912.d3uzQ/iTunes10.7.dmg
Download it and put it on your desktop, but DO NOT launch it yet.
Now, delete iTunes 11. This cannot be done, in Mountain Lion at least, in the usual way. You have to do it with the Terminal app.
Launch the Terminal app, (in Applications>Utilities), and type in the following at the command prompt:-
    sudo rm -rf /applications/itunes.app
... and press Return. (Note the spaces, which are important... it's a bit like using the old Windows DOS thing.)
I ran into a snag here straight away, because it prompted me for my password, which at the time was blank, and it wouldn’t accept no password. So I assigned myself a new user password, (System Prefs>Users & Groups>Change Password), and it worked after that.
Note: After typing the command, exactly as above, nothing appears to happen. But if you look in Applications you will see that iTunes is no longer there.
Next double-click on the iTunes 10.7.dmg file that was previously downloaded, and install it as you would any other software by double-clicking the resulting disc image on the desktop and following the prompts.
It was at this stage that I found that, although I could now launch iTunes, and it was definitely 10.7 I was launching, the error message 'Error -42408' appeared every time I did so. I could live with that if it just meant getting the message, but I wasn’t sure whether everything 'under the bonnet' would work correctly as long as this error message was being generated. So I continued...
Close iTunes, if it is still running.
Next re-launch Terminal and type the following:-
    open /system/library/privateframeworks
    ...and press Return.
Typing the above command in Terminal opens a new Finder window called 'Privateframeworks'. (Apparently one can only open this folder via Terminal; it is not visible using just Finder itself.)
Having done that, follow the following steps, one at a time. (I tried restoring all five files at once, but I was denied permission for some reason, so I did them separately.) Apologies if this is too basic...
    The steps:-
First locate, in the 'Privateframeworks' Finder window, the file called 'AirTrafficHost.framework' and highlight it.
Next launch Time Machine, and wait for it to sort itself out. The 'Privateframeworks' Finder window remains visible, of course, in Time Machine, and the highlighted file also remains highlighted.
Now look back in Time Machine for a restore point in which the 'date modified' field for the highlighted file was a date well before you, ahem...'updated' iTunes to version 11. (In my case I chose a date in September.)
Click on the 'Restore' button on the right-hand side of the Time Machine bottom bar.
When prompted, select the option to 'Replace' the existing version of the file with the one you are restoring. Also, enter your password when prompted, of course.
With the 'Privateframeworks' finder window still open on your desktop, locate the file within it called 'CoreFP.framework' and highlight it, launch Time Machine as before and restore that file the same way as the first.
Next, locate the file called 'DeviceLink.framework', highlight it and follow the same procedure with Time Machine to restore that.
Do the same thing with two more files in the 'Privateframeworks' finder window, called 'iTunesAccess.framework' and 'MobileDevice.framework'.
Close the 'Privateframeworks' finder window and quit Terminal. (I think I could have quit Terminal as soon as I'd opened the finder window though, to be honest.)
And after doing all that iTunes 10.7 should launch happily without the error message. Bliss...!

  • Can't create smart playlists because iTunes can't see all my playlists

I noticed that my smart playlists aren't updating properly. When I tried to edit them, I got an error message saying "This smart playlist depends on one or more playlists that cannot be found."  I am using as one of my rules "Playlist is" but the dropdown list next to that rule does not show all of my playlists. It shows some of my smart playlists, none of the "regular" playlists. That means I cannot fix the smart playlist.
For example, I have a playlist called "exercise" that is a regular playlist. It contains 965 songs that I have added manually. I can see the "Exercise" playlist just fine in iTunes, and I can add/remove songs from it. But my smart playlist, "Top Exercise Rare Recent," does not work, because it depends on the rule "Playlist Is Exercise." When I try to edit the rule "Playlist is," I cannot choose "Exercise" from the dropdown list--that playlist simply does not show up. But it is there. I can see it in iTunes. I just can't see it in the dropdown list.
I don't even know what to try to fix this.
In case it matters, a few versions ago, an iTunes update "lost" my library. I had saved backup of my library files, fortunately, so I did not lose all of my ratings and playlists (at least, I didn't think I did). After I restored my library files, iTunes did not recognize my iPod classic so I had to re-sync it (removing everything that was on it and replacing it with whatever was in iTunes, i.e., exactly the same files). Then the next update broke my ability to burn playlists to cds AND it broke my system clock. I had to revert to a restore point that preceded the iTunes update, then reinstall iTunes, then "repair" the installation to get my cd burning ability back.
I am now using iTunes 11.3.1.2 on a Windows 8.1 PC (64-bit). Wishing I had never update

Thanks for the clarification. Sorry, it's working for me so I'm not sure what to suggest. Perhaps someone else will have ideas.
    Regards.

  • How can I shuffle a playlist in iTunes for an iPod so my stereo play a large playlist in a seemingly random order

I have an iPod classic that I plug into my car stereo.  My car stereo can play playlists, or if just plug it in, it will play every song in alphabetical order.  Once plugged in, I cannot use the iPod to "shuffle".  I require a pre-shuffled playlist.  I have done this before in iTunes 11 will special instructions, but I've since misplaced those instructions.  I know how to build a large playlist of all of my songs.  Now, how do I shuffle that list of, say, 20,000 songs, and save to a new shuffled playlist?  Don't say it can't be done, because I've done it.  I know Apple removed the ability to do this quickly and easily, because obviously Apple doesn't really take their customers wants and needs into account.  Otherwise, they would see the thousands of complaints after they removed that feature.
So, is there anyone here that can help me?   I don't really need to hear that it's not supported or that it used to work.  If you know how to shuffle a playlist and save it in that shuffled state, please post the steps for doing this in Windows iTunes 11.
    Thank you in advance,
    Bluemookie

Just go to Settings, Shuffle, then turn it to Songs. The songs will stay in the same order in the playlist, but they'll switch it up.
