Pleasse Help Me! iTunes refuse to open

Hi,
I downloaded the new version of iTunes and installed it and it refused to open (an error message).
So I uninstalled everything and installed again the older version with the installation CD and still, I can't open iTunes.
What can I do? I can't load songs to my ipod now...
The error is like this:
AppName: itunes.exe AppVer: 4.7.1.30 ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 0000b77d
Does anyone can help?
Thanks

Hi assafhar and Saganic0
1 Try delete c:\program files\iTunes (all);
2 Try install older version of iTunes;
3 desinstall it;
4 format your ipod (in my computer)
5 install again.
good luck, its a strange problem, maybe you have bad info in your iPod, and you have a conflit...

Try removing the Genius database.  In the "Finder" go to the /username/Music/iTunes/ folder and delete the "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" file. This may allow the program to launch again. This file will be recreated upon first use of the "Genius" feature.

  • ITunes Refuses to Open. No Joke.

I have spent a month following every possible suggestion given, and nothing seems to work. My problem started when I downloaded the updated version of iTunes...Ever since then, it refuses to open. Can someone please help me before I throw my laptop into the river? (I'm training for a marathon and I really need new music)

I, too, am experiencing the same problem. Nothing helps. I've uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes, QuickTime, Bounjour, etc. 3-4 times. I've de-activated my anti-virus/spyware software (not Norton). I've done selective start-up (turning off most services/start up software). I've started up as a different user.
I was on the phone with Apple for 2+ hours uninstalling, reinstalling, deleting specific configuration files.
    Nothing has helped.
I start up iTunes, and when I look in Task Manager, iTunes.exe is running, first using some CPU, then, after about 10 seconds, using no CPU, and iTunes does not launch.
Has anyone found a solution yet?

  • Downloaded itunes 7.5 on Tiger, iTunes REFUSES to open

I currently have OSX Tiger for my MacBook Pro. I upgraded my iTunes music library to v7.5 recently, but since I've done that, my iTunes has refused to open. A window pops up telling me I have to download the new OSX Leopard! What? So I went to HD>Library>Reciepts, and deleted itunesX.pkg, thinking the recent update would eliminate itself. Well, nothings happened. Plain, and simple, I would like my music library back without having to pay for Leopard. What's the deal?

You first have to update your OS X 10.4.5 to 10.4.7 or better, then click on this latest info link from Apple, plus the additional link "Recreate" that is posted within this document.

Make sure you have QuickTime 7.3 installed ..... but NO hackies or Shape Shifter.

  • Help With iTunes: Doesn't Open At All

    Howdy,
For the past month or so, iTunes hasn't open at all on my computer. Every time I click on it, the hourglass symbol appears, but then it just dissapears, and the program doesn't come up at all. Even when I plug my iPod in, the program still doesn't open. I tried downloading and installing the newest version, as well as various other troubleshootings, but to no avail. Can someone reply ASAP regarding my issue.

I had this trouble... I fixed it with the help of the technicians on the phone at ipod.
the method that worked for my windows xp version was
    -go to start
    -click run
    -type in msconfig click ok
then it gets complicated a window will open it will have the tabs services and startup, the two at the end.
in order to make sure its a services or startup you go to services first
in the bottom of the window there will be a check box with the words hide all Microsoft services check that box
then click disable all in the right hand corner.
do not hit ok right away.
next go to the startup tab.
and disable all of those by clicking disable all in the bottom right corner
    click ok
it will ask if you want to restart your computer.
    click restart.
    when you log back on
a configuration box will pop up, and you should check the box then click ok
    then click control, alt, delete.
with task open, then open itunes with the desktop icon or in start.
go to processes to see if itunes is still in the process of opening.
if it opens it is one of your services and or startup programs that is not allowing it.
next you go back to start, run..,
    and
    put in msconfig
then go back to the services tab and enable all.
    click ok
    restart your computer.
    when you computer is restarted
    open up the task manager
and open go to processes and with task is open, then open itunes with the desktop icon or in start.
if it opens then it is not one of your services that is blocking it.
if it does not, then it is one of your services blocking it.
    next
you have to narrow it down to either the start up program that is blocking it or the services program,
    for me it was startup.
what you have to do it enable only half of the programs in your problem area(services or start up)
I counted out the number of programs in mine and did it evenly.
*note if you have a problem with services remember to check hide all Microsoft services *
if it works, then you know its not in that half.
if it does not work you know it is in that half.
    you just keep doing this,
until you have narrowed it down
I was told it would take 3 to 4 restarts if I was lucky,
    it took me 10
and 4 programs were a problem to me.
how ever they were not programs that I needed to be in my startup menu.
if you do need the program that is causing the problem, you could possibly only turn it off when using itunes or
you could call the support for that program and see if any patches are available.
    * note: sometimes a Norton can interfere with the openening of itunes, it is easy to determine if it is that, in which case you disable Norton, and see if it opens.*
the latest version of itunes is compatible with Microsoft Antispyware.

  • PLEASE HELP! Itunes will NOT open

I've seen many posts with people saying their itunes will not open and gives an error message that says it has encountered a problem and has to close. Mine started doing this a couple days ago, and I believe it might have been after I updated either itunes or downloaded a Windows update.
I have tried probably everything and nothing is working. I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes and quicktime (together and seperately). I've messed with msconfig, I've even tried reinstalling itunes from the cd that came with my ipod.
    Someone please help!

    hi Rachel!
At the moment I do not have quicktime installed. After messing with it so much, I gave up. But the message it was giving me was the same message itunes was giving me, saying it has encountered a problem and needed to close.
that would be the current problem. itunes won't run if you don't have QT on your system. (it will give you an "itunes has encountered a problem ..." message if you try to launch it under those circumstances.)
so let's try a standalone QT 7.0.4 reinstall again, taking a few additional precautions this time.
download and save a copy of the standalone QT 7.0.4 installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
    Quicktime 7.0.4 Standalone Installer
if you get an error message on that install, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.
if the install goes through fine, check some things for us.
does Quicktime launch fine, or do you get an error message? if you get an error message, what does it say?
if your QT is launching fine, do you still get the "itunes has ..." message?

  • Help premiere keeps refusing to open the file im working on!

it encountered a "serious  error" then refused to open the file again. premiere opens like normal, then asfter i click on the file to open, it asks me where a certain audio file is, then before i can do anything the dialog box crashes, and the file menu no longer lets me access anything, is all deselected, and light gray... HELP! i have a big project due monday with over 80 hours into it. i CANNOT start over!!

I am running OSX 10.9, i have installed all the updates from apple and adobe. I'm running Premiere6.0.5, I'm not using an external drive.  I deleted one audio file out of the project, but saved immediately after. I also keep getting a message telling me that,"we're sorry a critical error has occurred..." and the program crashes.  I cannot take a screen shot of the dialog box because it keeps crashing so fast i can't even click on anything before it's dissappeared.
Several of the adobe programs have similar problems after I updated to OSX Mavericks 10.9.... point being I cannot work like this, and seems like adobe isn't doing anything to fix the crashing save and import dialog boxes  in Illustrator, Indesign, and Photoshop. it's really frustrating trying to work when you can't import or save!

  • ITunes refuses to open for at least 5 minutes.

Okay so the other day i started having frustrating problems with my iTunes. I've had this computer for around 3 months now and there hasn't been a single problem related to iTunes, i double click the launch icon on the desktop and it opens within seconds. Which is what is supposed to happen...
Then suddenly it started being slow, i'd double click it, the rotating 'loading circle' would pop up for a brief amount of time and then stop, iTunes wouldn't open but the processes would show as being active. I did everything in the book to try and sort it out, tried a different user account, used the system restore function, re-installed iTunes, QuickTime, even Bonjour... still with no luck. Having an iPhone 3GS i require iTunes to transfer music and the like and it's become frustrating that i'm unable to do anything iTunes related with it. I decided to do a complete format which wiped everything from my computer - it's basically a new computer... which in turn means i've lost everything, my music, videos and pictures... which i'm not overly bothered about as they're replaceable with time.
I configured my 'new' computer, downloaded iTunes and YET AGAIN, the same thing happend. I then tried downloading an earlier version once again (9.2.1) and installed it, same problem. Completely baffled as to what the problem is as technically it's a brand new machine and should therefore have no problems with opening iTunes, and i know it's not just the program or my computers speed due to it working flawlessly previously.
Any helps appreciated, this is seriously annoying me now.

  • Itunes refuses to open on my imac

itunes won't open on my mac. it has worked fine for years. Ive updated software, restarted, etc.

Open Finder. Go to the "Go" menu in the menu bar. Press and hold Control and click on Library. Go to "Preferences". Find a file named, "com.apple.iTunes.plist" and delete that file. This won't delete your iTunes content. It will reset iTunes. Try it again.

can you check something for me quinn? reboot the PC, open your Task Manager to the Processes tab, and try to launch itunes again.
does an itunes.exe process appear in Task Manager? if so does it persist in there, or does it disappear after a few seconds?
(this will give us a heads up on which possibilities we should be checking up on first.)
    keep us posted.

  • Itunes refuses to open for past month. Freezes up my computer. Help?

itunes has not worked at all for a month. 64-bit. The problem is  system wide. As long as i am not trying to open itunes, my computer works perfectly. Help please.

Can you elaborate?  I am not aware of any m3u playlist being present but maybe there is.  I have done this many times before.  I move tons of files around in my music folder, add/delete/change, and rather than have iTunes try to figure it all out again, I just remove everything out of iTunes and add my entire folder back.  I've done it probably 50 times in the past and now, when I do it, it's creating playlists for every single folder or album or something, just as the original poster has described.  I do not like the behavior and would like to turn it off now!  I'm on Mac so iTunes Folder Watch will not work for me.  Any suggestions?

    Hey there-
So ive been trying to open up itunes the last few days and it refuses. It always says that the application quit unexpectedly. when i plug in my ipod it says the same thing "itunes quit unexpectedly" it doesnt even open up...
    I need help and fast!

    Some troubleshooting basics:
Ensure that you have the latest version of the OS and Quicktime and the iTunes.
    1. Repair Permissions using Disk Utility
    2. Delete the com.apple.iTunes.plist file from the home / library / preferences folder. You'll need to reset your User options afterwards.
    3. Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts) and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.

  • Help of iPhoto refuses to open

Hi, a previous member has already posted about this :
Quote : The Help file opens to show contents but opens no further. Says "Can't Open Content". Unquote
and I'm surprised that nobody has answered yet.
I'm French and live in France, so my computer speaks to me in French but I'm fluent in English so...
I have exactly the same problem.
I've purchased the new iLife suite on Dec. 18 (together with Snow Leopard) and of course my guarantee has just run out. It's just that I'd never needed the Help before. It worked perfectly well in the previous version of iLife.
The other Help files in iTunes and Safari work perfectly.
I've also checked in the package, and nothing is missing....
I've contacted the support and what was suggested is that I create another user and try with that one. I refused to do that, having had problems with a double user before, and subsequently completely re-installed my hard disk, with Snow Leopard this time. That was a very poor response anyway, indicating that no explanation was available.
So can somebody PLEASE give an explanation/answer/solution ?

Thank you very much for this. I did delete the com.apple.iPhoto.plist as suggested by Old Toad below, but that did not help. So I overcame my apprehension and created a new user and.... the help file now does open the content. So how do I get this Help file to work in my main user account, please ? I already repaired the authorizations on the disk, but that had no influence.
I have another query about the scan on my HP C4180 which I can't use or use completely (the scan interrupts after scanning half a page - the analysis of the document works) since I've installed Snow Leopard. I did check out the info on
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01846935&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en &jumpid=regR1002USEN
and so discovered a few things but have not been able to solve the problem. Prior to the discovery of this site (indicated to me by HP Support) I had uninstalled HP and reinstalled it with the original DVD, and after reading the document (which says one should not do that !), I put the program into the bin and replaced it with the version I had on Time Machine after the installation of Snow Leopard. When I look at the info on the HP program, it still says "modified Dec. 14, 2009" (probably after an update).
Now every time I open my computer the Installation Assistant icon appears in the dock and wants to finish the installation but when I click on "Next" no device appears in my window and yet photocopy and print work fine....
Thank you very much in advance for your help and have a nice week-end.
